Charred Corn

Was not expecting to be this full from dinner at coalition. Shockingly speedy for our big group, super accommodating for a birthday celebration, and not a single dish at the table looked like a miss. Everyone left happy (and full). I'd 100% come back for dinner again-- maybe even instead of lunch! (in order): fried goat cheese -- super surprised by how much I enjoyed. charcuterie board -- delicious and worth the $$. loved the pickles & smoked sausage. cauliflower -- delish, a can't miss. crispy with a BBQ twang. shrimp & scallops -- yes, please. on top of a bed of creamy sweet pea risotto. top sirloin w -- mixed reviews, but dang did those hashbrowns cakes look good. parmesan walleye -- winner, winner. crispy with so much yummy linguini! pork chop

Tuna Poke

I come to Coalition regularly. It is one of my go-to spots to meet people. I'm taking a moment to recognize their amazing happy hour! It's early but well worth it! Menu has great options that are somewhat different than their regular menu. Prices are reasonable. Their cocktails are great as well! My goal is to try everything but for this visit we had the shrimp tacos, Tuna poke and stuffed piquillo peppers. Favorite was the tuna! Beautiful, fresh and the crispy sushi rice was perfect! The peppers were good though a little messy. Curious as to the choice of presenting them upside down on the toast versus right side up. I'd suggest right side up, with a shred of basil or maybe mint to add color and contrast. Can't wait to go back!

My husband an I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at brunch and they did not disappoint. The decor is very swanky and has a lot of character. The service was wonderful, they were friendly and conversational. It was my first time having a big fancy bloody and it looked beautiful! The bloody itself was ok. My cornbread Benedict was a unique twist on a classic and I was obsessed. It was very yummy.

Stopped in a Sunday afternoon for a drink and some apps, we sat on the patio which was sunny and pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed both apps we tried and my cocktail was unique and delicious. Service wasn't terribly fast but our waiter was helpful and polite and we weren't in a hurry anyways. Looking forward to returning.

Steak Sandwich with fries, and duck risotto,
Laurine N.

The Pork buns were SOOO DELICIOUS!!! Get the pork buns appetizer!!! The duck risotto was a limited menu item and the duck was small and not great. Not much flavor, the steak sandwich was ehh. The fries were good though.

Hush puppies and jr burger on the social hour menu

This was my first time here and I'm already planning my next visit! I was looking for a happy hour in the area and this is exactly what I was looking for! Both the piquillo peppers and hush puppies were 10000/10, I will cry real tears if they take either off the menu anytime soon, especially since moving here from Nashville it's impossible to find a good hush puppy.

Walleye dinner

This place never disappoints! Korean tacos are so consistently good we never skip them. They tweaked the burrata starter by adding olive tapenade and it's amazing. The walleye was prepared perfectly with great sauce for the fish and potatoes. Server was familiar with us and gave just the right amount of attention. We sat closer to the windows and much cuts down on the noise, great night overall.

Coalition Burger and fries

I decided to try this place for something new and I honestly would have tried more things except the starters cost as much or more than the entrees. Coalition Burger and fries were good; the burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare but the skinny fries were a little limp and greasy. I also tried the Fried Goat Cheese with honey and I was not impressed. There was a lot of breading, the cheese was cool in the middle, and the honey as a dip made the whole thing cloyingly sweet. One and done for me. Spending $20 for a Tuna Tartare appetizer I really was expecting more than a few chunks of tuna and a plateful of greens and wonton strips. I had to hunt for the tuna, although the avocado was nice. Again, almost $20 for a Charred Corn starter I was surprised it was a lot of greens, a couple of red jalapeño slices and a barely-discernible spoonful of charred corn. The cilantro lime dressing was good but this is NOT a Charred Corn starter; it's a salad with a bit of charred corn and a lot of tortilla strips. I'd go back for the delicious burger but not the rest.

Cheeseburger

Three stars for the lousy service. We weren't served for up to 20 minutes and the restaurant was not packed. Definitely enough servers so not sure why it took so long. Tried the cheeseburger. It was pretty good, it nothing to rave about. I did appreciate that they grilled the bun.

Salad

The restaurant is cute and rich, I loved the brick/industrial finishes as well as the beautiful ceiling. Although the food took a while to come out (it was a Saturday evening) it was fresh and tasteful! Our server was great as well.

Bad service, bland food. Server never refilled the disgusting endless coffee or water because he never came back until he brought the bill.

Mirabelle was chosen for friends night out due to the social media post and it looking great on socials. I'd first like to say the staff here were amazing. We were helped by quite a few of them during our dining experience. We were even given a guided tour of the rentable event space, as well as the 2 other restaurant concepts they run, which are connected to Mirabelle. Shiki - Japanese inspired noodle bar, and Parlour Bar - Speakeasy vibes. Mirabelle has more of a supper club atmosphere. Back to the dining experience, we all ordered the drink special - I don't recall the name but we all enjoyed it. Kind of like a cosmo. We were able to catch a few things from the happy hour. As I said earlier I was looking forward to ordering the wings, which I did, but was later informed they ran out - we did go at dinner opening on a Monday - maybe they had a super busy week. I was left to only trying cheese curds and fries which were okay, nothing special. Others tried the caesar salad, a shrimp pasta dish, popcorn, and a few other dishes. Overall they weren't very impressed either. Probably would have enjoyed the other concepts a bit more personally. Also had popovers - they were very egg forward - smell and taste - also something no one really enjoyed at our table. The drinks and vibes were amazing though!

It's the perfect spot for a casual date night or lunch with friends or by yourself! I had their vegetable potstickers and the vegetarian miso ramen and both absolutely hit the spot. The dumplings had a nice crisp on the bottom and the filling was incredible. I cannot stop thinking about them, they were truly so delicious! The ramen was also beyond my expectations. The broth was flavorful and not overly salty and all of the ingredients came together so nicely. The flavors were outstanding! We also tried the green and peppermint tea which were delicious and high quality! To top off an amazing food experience, our waitress Courtney was spectacular! She was so kind, helpful with the menu, and went above and beyond to help make our experience so positive. You would absolutely be missing out if you don't stop here while near Excelsior. Shiki is already doing so many things right and I can't wait to see all that they continue to do with their menu!

Jester Concepts' restaurants are typically at the top of my lists (Parlour, Borough and Starling…read moreare among my favorites), but in my experience, Shiki missed the mark. To be sure, ramen is a hard perfect, with each component really having to stand on its own to allow for the dish to come together. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with a soy based broth, roasted pork belly, a soft boiled egg and toasted nori. The biggest miss was the broth - it was bland, almost watered down and lacked complexity. The noodles were plentiful and had good texture while the pork belly was gray and sad, too fatty without a hint of flavor. The bowl was not hot either and the whole experience left me with a "meh" feeling. My dining mates felt similarly about the Kimchi Ramen. A redeeming quality of Shiki is their shrimp steam buns, which we ordered as a starter. Cold poached shrimp are delicately placed inside pillowy steam buns and accessorized with crisp pickled veggies, hoisin sauce and cilantro. Great small bites to share. Aside from the lackluster bowls, the ambiance was a little disappointing as well. We went on a Tuesday night around 6PM, so granted, not peak dining hour by any means. The space is small, with a few bar seats and maybe four to five tables. Something was burning in the open kitchen behind the bar and the heavy smoke in the restaurant was overpowering, leaving us smelling like charred meat for some time after. The staff were very pleasant, but the space is just lacking character. Maybe on an afternoon for lunch, sitting up at the bar, would be more of an experience - but I still think the food would leave you disappointed.

We came on a busy Sunday evening, Memorial Day Weekend, and put our name down for a table. We were told it would be a responsible 25-30 minute wait. A wait that only ended up being about 15 minutes. We were seated at a table right next to the water which we loved. Very promptly greeted by our server, Julie, who was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable to the menu, made plenty of recommendations, and was very humorous making the visit even better. Started with the Loaded Nachos which were HUGE. They were piled high with all the goodies, plenty of queso, crispy chips, and extremely fresh ingredients. At first I was turned off by the $22 price tag but the size is actually a great value and they are perfect for probably 6-8 to share as an app or 2-4 to share as an entree. You can pop tan extra $10 for brisket, we just stuck with the ground beef. I also got the Stacked Club Sandwich which, again, was a massive portion. The deli meat tasted like it was freshly sliced and had a nice flavor. The lettuce and tomato were also very fresh tasting. This a perfect spot to stop and take in some sun, have a few drinks, and a bite to eat, all while enjoying stunning views of the lake.

The cornbread skillet was excellent -- my partner had cheese curds that were melt-in-your-mouth, i love when places paor curds with the blueberry dip. The chicken sandwich was awesome: quality chicken with a super crunchy breading, and the tomatoes had a little pepper seasoning which made it stand out from your usual sandwich. I also tried their Mac and Cheese. Thats pretty good its dauced just right and i think its pimento cheese. Partner also tried chicken and waffles, which he enjoyed but said it wasn't his favorite -- not really a chicken-and-waffles guy. The sweet potato fries were tasty, though a bit soft rather than crispy. Service was fantastic. Our server was very sweet, attentive, and helpful with suggestions and questions. The bathrooms were clean, and the bar area looked well done. The space is much bigger than the old restaurant, with more booths and seating than I expected. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I would definitely come back to try more off the menu -- everything looks tempting. A wonderful spot in Chaska that's worth visiting. Go visit!
