Maynard's is more than a restaurant -- it's an experience! There's always something going on. Music playing, boats docking, people laughing, and conversations competing with the lively atmosphere. It's high-energy, bustling, and just plain fun! This probably isn't the place for a quiet, intimate conversation, but if you're looking for good food, good drinks, and a lively waterfront atmosphere, Maynard's delivers. Is it a little loud? Absolutely. A little busy? You bet. But that's part of the charm. Come ready to enjoy the energy, take in the activity, and have a good time! It might mean having to find your server but you don't come here with a time table read more

A great space for ourdoor eating! During the day or night, this place is PACKED! There's a million servers, all amazing at running around for the guests or offering recommendations. One thing I hate is how the potato salad has bacon in it, but isnt advertised as that... and as someone who doesnt eat bacon ive had to send it back multiple times. I enjoyed the Crispy Salmon Bowl recently, but the salsa being cold cooled the bowl a bit too much for my liking - but reheated at home, it was great! (I got it without the ginger marinade, and happy I did because I hate soy sauce flavors). The firecracker wrap seemed to be the hit and the honey mustard! Stop into the Wharf to enjoy the lake and great food! read more

This place is pretty much a staple for Minnesota summers. Being on lake Minnetonka and the size of this place makes it a VERY desirable place to go! It truly always feels busy here! There is a parking lots but expect to park in the street or down the street. Given how busy it always is, the staff keeps up! Our food was out fairly quick and our server was attentive! I have been here before, but the food quality seems to have gone down hill. At least for the outdoor patio (the menu is different inside) I had the walleye sandwich and it was not good. The quality of fish, the bread tasted stale and there was too much bread and sauce. The burger was a standard burger and nothing special. The ceviche was good!! But it's not chopped up, and was hard to eat with the chips. I did get some alcoholic drinks and those were great! My personal opinion is that the drinks and apps here are good! Anything else is very sub par... The vibes here are awesome! I will be back but sticking to the apps and drinks read more

Maynard's is a staple restaurant around these parts. With boat up docking and a large, but not large enough, parking lot, Maynards welcomes neighbors and families visiting. There is indoor and outdoor seating, of course the wharf is where we prefer to be. I typically go for their buffalo chicken wrap- it has yet to disappoint me. The servers are always so busy constantly running around, but always beinging our food and drinks on time. read more

I absolutely love Maynard's every time I go! I usually come here with friends for a night out, but this time I went during the day with coworkers, so I finally got the chance to try more of the food! Maynard's has so much space, making it a great spot for bigger groups, and the outdoor patio is amazing. Plus, being right on the lake makes the whole atmosphere that much better, especially on a nice day! For food, our group tried the Ceviche, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Cranberry Turkey Melt, and Firecracker Chicken Wrap. Everything was a hit! And you absolutely can't go to Maynard's without getting the fries with seasoned sour cream -- a MUST! Overall, we all loved our food, the service was great, and it was just as fun during the day as it is at night. Definitely one of my favorite spots! read more

The atmosphere at Maynard's during the summer is so lively! They had music playing outside and sports on the TVs inside so plenty of background entertainment. Outside seating is self-serve but make a reservation inside to be safe because it was busy when we came on a hot Friday evening. We originally wanted to sit at the outdoor patio (there were ceiling fans running, though we didn't feel the breeze enough) but realized the menu out there is a limited version of the indoors menu. We received a buzzer to signal when our seat was ready, so we could walk around the property while waiting. We ordered Tofu Bowl, Walleye, Cranberry Wild Rice Melt, and Orange Honey Glazed Salmon. Tofu bites were probably my favorite, crispy and glazed in a sweet sauce. To my taste, the two fishes were ok (I think it would've been good with some veggies or a potato side dish). The melt was nicely toasted on top. read more

Docking situation is great with a helper on the dock. Our server was super friendly and checked on us often. They have a great outdoor space. Only two stalls for the girls bathroom. Food came out fast, the cranberry turkey melt was really good. The only downside was their menu says they have "packaged goods" which I assumed meant you could get some beer to go but when we asked, we were told that want a thing. ‍ read more

I meet a friend for lunch, was the first patio day for me in Minnesota. Being on the wharf you get timely service and how can you go wrong with a walleye sandwich while looking at Lake Minnetonka. A good addition is get waffle fries with the seasoned sour cream. For a bar food / appetizer item get the chicken drummies with a bbq sauce on the side. read more

We love Maynards. It is never bad. We have things on the menu that we have been enjoying for years, such as the legendary Frannie's Chicken Salad, the Cabo Steak Wrap, the Cranberry Wildrice Melt, Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, Firecracker Shrimp and the best Walleye Fingers around. These are our favorites, everyone has theirs. Date night specials, early seating specials, seasonal. If you see by chance that they have brought back their Sunday brunch buffet, get yourself over there. Spacious dock seating, plenty of comfortable booths inside and lots of TVs so you won't miss a minute of your favorite sports. Reservations recommended, but they will always try and accommodate walk-ins. read more

Maynard's is a classic excelsior spot. I love their waffle fries and seasoned sour cream, my friend visiting also loved it. I wish their outside seating was more organized, it feels awkward to hover by tables and be hovered by while people are waiting, especially on the weekends. They have a lot onsite for parking but when it fills up, you have to street park and excelsior now charges for street parking read more

Stopped at Maynard's late afternoon on a Saturday. The lot and street parking was a bit busy but we all found spots pretty easy. We were meeting part of a group that was already seated on the wharf/patio. We opted to sit at a table nearby. The views, being right on Lake Minnetonka were nice. The menu is small & limited on the patio but a lot more options inside. I think if I went back I'd eat inside and then go out to grab drinks and enjoy the views. Looks like it's really nice at night. We only got an app - Italian waffle fries for food and I got the strawberry lemonade. My friend got the spicy marg. The strawberry lemonade was just okay. Tasted a bit watered down. Drinks were fairly cheap, the food was a bit pricey but they did give a large portion. Also the fries came with seasoned sour cream. I thought the fries were just okay. The seasoned sour cream tasted like it had the same seasoning as the fries which wasn't all that special. Our waiter was nice & attentive. Overall I'd come back again. read more

My partner and I went to Maynard's to celebrate me getting a new job. We absolutely loved the environment at Maynard's very nice. Our server was great and quick to refill our drinks and check on us. I had the Maynard's chicken sandwich and enjoyed it, however for being labeled as teriyaki chicken I didn't taste much teriyaki sauce so I definitely felt like a thicker sauce maybe could be used. The loaded baked potato was super good and cooked to perfection. Had two strawberry margaritas and loved them both. My partner got the wagyu cheesesteak sandwich, he really enjoyed it and would get it again. He got the waffle fries for his side and ended up having two different beers that he said were all very good. We will definitely be back. read more

Maynard's patio/wharf overlooking Lake Minnetonka is hard to beat and a summer staple! It is a great spot to socialize with friends or coworkers. There is no reservation for the seating on the wharf so definitely get there early to secure a spot. Their wharf menu is a much more limited version of their main menu with plenty of staples. However, their wharf menu lacks vegetarian / vegan friendly items so if you have a dietary restriction be sure to look at the wharf menu prior. Their waffle fries with seasoned sour cream are a must order! They are perfectly seasoned, crispy, and delicious! In the Frannies chicken salad was also really good and much more filling than I had expected. The service was fast despite being a busy Friday summer night. I will continue to come back here for good food and fun summer vibes! I'd love to try more of the menu items that they serve indoors but not on the wharf. read more

Ah, the legend that is Maynards. The locals really hype this place up. See and be seen, etc. I came here when it was still warm enough to park up in a boat. After docking, we got a table outside. We did not order food, but a lot of people were eating when we were there. Looks like pub food, which makes sense. The vibe in my opinion was pretty relaxed, sitting outside with a cold drink - it felt like we were on vacation, not on the edge of town in Excelsior a quarter mile from Rt. 7. The drinks were fine and the service was, too. I will be back, but still trying to figure out what the hype is all about. read more

I heard of Maynard's patio and wanted to give it a try! We got to the restaurant and it was really busy (Saturday around 5 pm). We walked to the back patio and were told tables were first come first serve and the outside menu was limited to just bar food. Waiting for a table is awkward, not going to lie. You and everyone around you is looking at the same table and it feels like you're both running to see who gets it first. Definitely not my favorite way of dinning but I guess it works for them. The food, as mentioned earlier is limited to their bar menu, so it's okay! Not spectacular but will be filling and you'll have a nice view. If you're looking for a place to get drinks and hang out by the water, this is the place for you! If you're looking for great food and drinks, consider dinning in their restaurant instead of the back patio. read more

My favorite season is Maynard's Warf season!! There is something about sharing an seasoned waffle fries with your friends on the warf overlooking Lake Minnetonka at sunset - I leave with the best memories and thinking about how soon I can get back! The staff is always friendly and provides quick service. My absolute favorite thing to order at Maynard's is the Frannie's Chicken Salad. The lettuce is fresh, comes with several toppings including avocado and a hard boiled egg. The coconut crusted chicken is crispy that pairs perfectly with their honey mustard dressing. Notable entrees: Firecracker Chicken Wrap & Chicken Tenders. While we cant enjoy the warf during winter, we will be visiting Maynard's inside restaurant where they have an extended menu add a great happy hour. read more

The place is huge, and has great outdoor seating. Service has never been an issue. However, the food is often under-seasoned and bland.

If you want great food and a view of the lake, this is your spot. You can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine in your face and have bar food. Or you can sit inside and enjoy their full menu. Which is usually what I opt for. Many more choices and the floor to ceiling windows makes you feel like you are outside. Either way, you can't go wrong. Oh and they have Pull-tabs. read more

If you go to Maynard's, get the waffle fries and the wrap! Seriously, both are so good. It's right on the lake, so it's a great summer spot, although it can get extremely busy. The open seating can be a little frustrating when it's packed, especially in the summer, but the atmosphere is still really fun. Also loved the Bootleg cocktail, definitely worth trying! read more

Classic American restaurant right next to the lake! Came here on a Sunday afternoon and was genuinely surprised how packed the restaurant was especially because it was already so late and it feels like there's not many people living in Excelsior. - Firecracker Shrimp Tacos - Honestly the tacos were not bad although all the ingredients came together in a way that I thought it would. The tortilla unfortunately tasted like it was from Costco and all the other ingredients like the guac, salsa, etc. seemed to also come from Costco. However, I will say that the shrimp itself was very good and I loved the sauce they drizzled all over it. Also the portion size was huge as I could barely finish the 3 tacos. - Downeast Blackberry Cider - Delicious! Not sure if there was a lot of blackberry flavor to it but I like how it is has more a soda taste rather than beer. I definitely felt a bit buzzed after drinking the tall glass. Overall, not a bad place for lake views and food. Definitely recommend walking along the lake afterwards! read more

Parking was a breeze as we arrive at 4 pm. When we left at 5:30 there were two people fighting over our parking spot. The service was pleasant and efficient. I had a hummus salad and my mother had the cob salad. The quinoa in my salad was very wet and soggy. We also had an order of walleye fingers as a starter. The restaurant is pretty loud with all of the people in the bar area and the TVs. Outside was too hot for my mom so we sat inside and dealt with the noise. It is hard to have a conversation with the noise and mom's hearing aids. read more

A very nice spot for lunch or dinner with a view. I honestly head there for the scenery more than the food. It is a little overpriced, but I usually get the chips, it is very fulfilling. Such a fun summer place!! You can either sit inside or outside in a bigger, more casual venue outside. I recommend getting a reservation if you want a space inside for dinner. The venue is right on the water which is really fun, and I lot of younger adults at night - the bar gets really popular. The service inside for dinner was attentive and the food was good - more of a classic American bar-ish food - we got a huge spread of food. The spicy marg was also really good. Fun spot!! read more

I had seen raved reviews on TikTok about the buffalo chicken wrap. I had been craving a buffalo chicken wrap. So my friend and I came here to see if it lived up to the hype. The staff was all so friendly. The bar area has a happy hour menu with chips & salsa, cheese curds, Italian waffle fries, firecracker shrimp, burrata caprese, bone-in wings, and steak bites. There was also drink specials but I didn't pay attention. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap without lettuce or celery or blue cheese crumbles. I got the waffle fries as the side. The a wrap was delicious, I love that the chicken stays crispy and the wrap has great flavor. The waffle fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. My friend ordered the Italian waffle fries, which has rosemary on them and comes with a seasoned sour cream (OMG. This seasoned sour cream is delicious!!!). She also ordered the sliders- Mr. Jimmy style and she liked these. Overall, we would return. And if you're looking for some good American food, check them out! read more

One of my favorite spots in MN, with a beautiful patio overlooking lake Minnetonka. Beware, it is always busy here and outside is self-seating/no reservations! We came on a Monday night and had to do quite a bit of circling the parking lot and waiting around for a table. We were lucky enough to get both decently quickly. To drink I had the Skinny & Spicy Marg - if you like both of those things, this is perfect! Beware, it gets spicier as you drink more and more, but I loved the jalapeno flavor. For dinner I had the poke bowl, it was delicious and flavorful - the perfect fresh meal to eat on the water! My only downside was I wish it had more veggies - it needed a bit more of a crunch. Overall, I feel the price is a little high for the food options, but you can't beat their location! read more

We've been coming to Maynard's for many years and have never had a negative experience. My Cajun Pork Chop (with a baked potato) was excellent. Service was attentive and very friendly. Brought the wife here for a date after a day of jet skiing on Minnetonka and we tied up here after just beating the rain. We planned on lunch on the lake anyways so it timed well. Staff helped us off the dock - so much space for boats! - and we were immediately seated. 10/10 customer service. At our table, we were immensely greeted by the wait staff and promptly got drinks ordered. Shrimp ceviche for appetizer was bomb! Restrooms were clean, dining area was full but didn't feel crowded, and the ceviche, poke bowl, and turkey cranberry sandwich hit the spot! Getting here should be a review on its own. There was a line of cars circling the parking lot as of they were sharks trying to catch the last seal for dinner. The street parking was full and so was all the other spots in the whole city that were within half mile. I ended up parking half mile away down a residential street because over 30 minutes driving around was getting frustrating. Once I got there we were sitting outside and well outside menu is very very slim unless you like sour beers and bar food. I tried to get a cheeseburger buy they said the temperature was set and they were all medium rare. The burgers looked more on the well done side. I got a wrap and it was good. The service was amazing and I think not having more options outside hurts the servers since the servers tell you that you need to go inside and get it. The place was packed it was like every one was there. Lots of kids under 21 and your typical older crowd. The weather was perfect. Overall the restaurant was great.. read more
