    NA Ube Pina Colada
    Kathleen K.

We really wanted to try Shiki after seeing it on Kare-11. The NA Ube Pina Colada was ok. Too much ice and too much coconut. The Pork Potstickers were very good. We liked the Chicken Shio Ramen and The Shoyu Ramen but they were both very bland. No chili sauce to add, just Siracha. It doesn't compliment the Ramen broth very well. A little more spice and it would have been much better. Service was good.

Shiki is a great addition to downtown Excelsior. They are located at the old Jake O'Connor's Public House where they have transformed that space into 3 different restaurants, Shiki, Parlour Excelsior, and a Supper Club that will open soon. We went for lunch and it was very good. I had the Kimchi Raman and it was delicious. The broth was wonderful. I can't wait to return and try the dumplings and cocktails. A cute little spot and something that Excelsior needed. Very friendly and quick service. I will absolutely be back

    "Spicy" kimchi ramen, not spicy

I am giving Shiki 3.5 stars, so I am rounding up to 4. There are some good things here and some misses. The cocktails are very good, we tried the Sakura and the Bamboo cocktails. Excellent and well made. They have a good selection of beer and sake too. The cucumber salad and the pork potstickers were good. We ordered the shoyu ramen and the spicy kimchi ramen. Both came with large pieces of pork belly which was excellent. The shoyu ramen, I would definitely order this again. The spicy kimchi ramen was not remotely spicy. I think it was just the shoyu ramen with a glob of kimchi. Major disappointment. The restaurant is small but wasn't too noisy. Service is good, with the exception of clearing used dishes. Our table was completely cluttered by the end of the meal. I might come back here for a cocktail and apps.

Okay this place is such a gem Shiki in Excelsior never misses. The dumplings and Ramen are always super fresh and just hits every time. The vibe is cozy but still feels a little cute/upscale without being too much. Perfect for a chill dinner or a little date night. Alsooo bartender Nick deserves a shoutout--his lychee gin and juice cocktail is SO good. like... I'm still thinking about it. Everyone is always really nice and welcoming too which makes it even better. 10/10 will keep coming back

Food was ok, nothing special. Worst part is they change you 3% on your bill for using a credit card. Unacceptable.

Here's my review of the food we ordered: Cocktail of the hour - aka "Golden Hour" - 8.5/10 Reminded me of mulled cider, notes of honey, very refreshing Pork Belly Steam Buns - 8.1/10 Nice texture, very tender and flavorful Mini Banh Mi - 7/10 Not bad, would have preferred the more traditional pork filling Crispy Chicken- 8.7/10 This really surprised me, from appearance the chicken didn't look that special but it was well seasoned and the sweet chili glaze really stole the show and elevated this dish! Mirabelle Smash Burger - 8.9/10 I'm a sucker for smash burgers and this one did not disappoint. Nice crispy bun and a special mustard sauce that we enjoyed and a different flavor I don't usually have on my burger Sticky Ribs - 5/10 Unfortunately these were quite dry and was comparing to sticky ribs I had last week at CoV that were fall off the bone Overall good spot, service, atmosphere, and would be happy to return. Prices were also great for happy hour.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. But unless they get a different chef in the kitchen,…read morethis place is not going to make it.... Let's start with the positives! The location! Very close to the lake(walking distance) There is a free parking ramp right behind the building. The decor of this place is cute! The details seem like they were well thought out! It feels upscale and cozy! I saw a video of this place and that was what originally drew me in! The seating here is also comfortable and not over crowded. Our server was ok. I saw so many raves about the "amazing service." She did refill our water glasses, which was good because I needed it with the salty steak! Obviously the most important piece is the food. We started with the popovers. The taste was fine but the texture was almost over done. The honey butter was lacking honey flavor. Cinnamon would have really elevated the butter! I got the steak frites and my sister got the spaghetti. My fries were average. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium all the way through! I was impressed. However, it was drowning in a VERY salty sauce! I had push a lot of it off. This should be served on the side, not covering the whole steak. My sister got the spaghetti, which our waitress explained was not a regular spaghetti. I feel she has probably had to do that multiple times and honestly, it should just be renamed. It's confusing for the customer. My sister did say she enjoyed the dish and that the shrimp was ere done well. For dessert I got "Aunties iced latte" which is their version of like an espresso martini. It was just ok. Would not get again. We got the carrot cake which was good!! But then they ruined it by putting fake whipped cream.... This is supposed to be a higher end restaurant and that made the dessert feel so cheap. We also got the creme brûlée. DO NOT ORDER THAT! It is an absolute waste of money! The sugar top was so thick we couldn't eat it! The dessert had the consistency of scrambled eggs, not a smooth custard. The taste seemed ok, but whoever made this does not know what they are doing! Overall, the food was not memorable and a lot of it was done poorly. There are definitely better restaurants in the area.

We came on a busy Sunday evening, Memorial Day Weekend, and put our name down for a table. We were told it would be a responsible 25-30 minute wait. A wait that only ended up being about 15 minutes. We were seated at a table right next to the water which we loved. Very promptly greeted by our server, Julie, who was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable to the menu, made plenty of recommendations, and was very humorous making the visit even better. Started with the Loaded Nachos which were HUGE. They were piled high with all the goodies, plenty of queso, crispy chips, and extremely fresh ingredients. At first I was turned off by the $22 price tag but the size is actually a great value and they are perfect for probably 6-8 to share as an app or 2-4 to share as an entree. You can pop tan extra $10 for brisket, we just stuck with the ground beef. I also got the Stacked Club Sandwich which, again, was a massive portion. The deli meat tasted like it was freshly sliced and had a nice flavor. The lettuce and tomato were also very fresh tasting. This a perfect spot to stop and take in some sun, have a few drinks, and a bite to eat, all while enjoying stunning views of the lake.

The service was appropriately lowkey and prompt. Their food might seem a bit expensive, but their portions are generous. This makes the burger really chewy and you really can't taste the beef anymore like you used to when it was thicker. I would take this as it's not as good as it used to be. It is not as good as the original hype from the beginning. In conclusion, I do not think it's worth the $19. I rather get a cheesesteak for $16 at Tono's which comes with fresh not burnt fries rather than come back here and get a burger here. It's highly unlikely I will be back here. I honestly feel like the burgers have gone way WAY downhill. The fries here have gotten terrible so I stopped getting the fries a long time ago. They are not soft crisp like they used to be. They are too golden brown color, almost like burnt hard fries. I never like to eat down here. I normally would order the Parlour burger upstairs. The basement part which is Parlour has a weird smell like a locker room smell so that's why I don't like to eat down here.
