Does not make the cut for me. The good: nice wine list, nice space, neat, clean open kitchen, nice server.
The poor: 1. MENU CONFUSION Website sample menus indicate available options of a tasting menu (costs 45 pounds) AND separate entree plates. However, on our Thursday visit, the only menu was tasting which we did not have the time for nor did we want that much food. The saving grace, when we explained to our nice server, was that they would let us pick and choose from the tasting menu and charge us accordingly. So that was a win.
2. FOOD I chose 3 starter courses only and the amount of food was fine for what I wanted. The scallop dish was very nice, the other two not so much.
The mushroom dish was an ugly unidentifiable lump of black that had been literally drowned in soy sauce. The only taste was soy sauce. VILE.
My last starter was charred leek with a large amount of a slightly bitter peanut sauce and, like the mushroom dish, the sauce totally overpowered the delicate leek. Three of my dining partners ordered the lamb entree which was nicely presented. However, they weren't asked what temperature they would like but all 3 plates came with different degrees of doneness. No consistency.
Finally, I would expect bread service here but none was to be found. read more
