Amazing food and service We started with a white lady and paper plane cocktail which were both lovely. For the rest of the meal we had a bottle of the albarino a great complement. Vicki had the pea soup with croquettes and i had the fresh tomatoes with mint. Both were excellent though i think cold pea soup wouldve been even better than warm. We had the hake as a main and some leek tartin and cleaned our plates. What more can I say? Perfectly cooked fish with nice accompaniments. For dessert she had the cheese while I had the st clements cake. The former paired well with the banyuls and mine worked well with the rest of the albarino. We felt like we were among friends from the second we walked in. Peter Murphy and his colleagues could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, and the food (the White Onion Soup!) , wine, and cocktails, were fantastic. Great ambience where everyone could have a quiet conversation at their own table. And our experience here was so good that we tried, and had an equally great meal, at their sister restaurant Cora Pearl. Both are on our London "must go to" list from now on. read more

Super cozy place. Ground level and a few more tables in the basement. Staff was excellent. Food was tasty, but there's nothing healthy on the menu. But if you don't care: This is your place. One minus: The bill included a "donation", but no one mentioned it and it doesn't state what for. Noticed it when it was too late, but... why!? Not a fan of such an approach. You must make the reservation before you come. They are always busy. Almost every table ordered their signature steak. Its a $80 set for two people. I love the steak, cooked just the right time. Most exciting British food in London. This intimate and charming spot serves up some innovative dishes at very reasonable prices. The cocktail and wine menu is also a good value packing a lot of flavor. Cornish crab with bbq'ed cucumber (5/5) - very light and refreshing crab meat well balanced with vegetables Whipped cod roe on bread (5/5) - this is more decadent in flavor than foie gras but without feeling as heavy! Ox heart with red cabbage (5/5) - very tasty and not very heavy Duck with blood orange and rhubarb (4/5) - well cooked but just didn't stand out in flavor as too different from many other duck dishes I've had Service was point and friendly. They politely asked us to move to bar to finish drinks when we got to 2 hours limit. I thought the overall place was well run and I can't wait to come back again. read more

Before we had the steak I was going to rate 4 stars for all the dishes we had. However, the steak was burnt and it was a big disappointment since the manager strongly recommended this dish. From the picture, the steak looks very good but the it was burnt outside. We had to cut the parts w/black because it was NOT eatable. Inside was ok, not good not bad. I don't recommend the steaks and it was totally overpriced, $88 per course. I meant there were a lot of meat but food itself I didn't like. read more

Wow wow, so glad we decided to dine here. The food was the most outstanding I've had all week in London. Our waitress was really good and explained dishes very well. For starters the chicken liver pâte was delicious as was the welsch rarebit. The potato side was the best crispiest potatoes with perfect salt. Salsa verde pesto type sauce on the broccoli side was so good, I mopped it up with the potato. Entrees were a nice portion and not heavy which was nice. Desserts were outstanding- brown butter ice cream & also thefresh strawberries. So so delicious! Everything came with garnishes and sauces or crispy additions that really made the dishes shine. This will be unacceptably short, since I am writing it a bit late, but I can say that this place is a real gem. Everyone involved has a certain modern sensibility, warmth without pretension. I ordered a Hanky Panky while waiting for my dinner companion, and had a chat with the bartender. The drink was delicious. The upstairs has a few tables but the main event is downstairs below ground level and the whole restaurant must seat only 20 or so. The ambience is quite intimate and the tables are close but there is excellent sound dampening. The food here combines classic British recipes and ingredients with a very modern twist, like others do certainly, but there is still a sense of the chef's own signature on it. We enjoyed every course, every plate. the wine list is chosen carefully and is not overly expensive. There are interesting off-the-beaten path choices. Set in a very cute square in the old Regent Market, this is a really cool place. read more

We wanted to try this spot due to the good reviews and interesting menu. we were a party if 4 and were sat downstairs, the space is small and cosy but it lacks ambience, the lighting was not good, dimmed and more more mood would have been nice. The waitress hurried over and barely introduced herself or the menu to us, instead just said, the kitchen closes at 9.30 so you need to order. Hurriedly we ordered and she took notes, she didn't walk us through the dishes, sizing, complementary etc or suggest we may need more or less, just scribbled down on her notepad. Turns out we totally over ordered and a lot got wasted. The food quality is good but not WOW, like the reviews have said, they must have a very good PR company behind them. Overall, we enjoyed the evening but unlikely to return, this place I think might just be hanging out on it's past hype. read more

Pretty darn good, more like a 4.5 in my book. The whipped cod's roe on toast snack is heavenly, do *not* skip it for dear life. I had an ox cheek starter and a duck main which were both done to perfection, but the rice pudding was a bit of a let down. Also, not a cheap place to say the least. Excellent fare in a great location. There is plenty of hype surrounding this place, it won restaurant of the year 2015 and that, combined with its relatively small interior means it is always busy! The interior is pleasant and not cramped. All the food was superb, the service excellent. Portion size is very good, we came out full but not stuffed. Wine list is quite expensive to get a decent drop but that's my only gripe. We ate early but I can imagine if you had a late table it could probably get quite lively in the bar area...looks primed for a lock-in. read more

Having dined at Chiltern Firehouse, I was equally eager to try out Kitty Fisher's when I heard it was the new hottest restaurant in town. They don't take reservations online, so you have to call them, but they also only have the booking lines open during two 1-hour windows every day. The first 2 times I called, I was unsuccessful, but when I finally got through, I simply asked them when their next available day was and booked immediately (it was in about 3 months' time). When the day of the reservation neared, the restaurant texted me the day before and asked for confirmation and numbers. I texted back saying that we were one person less, and then texted again the next day to amend the numbers again. I never got a response, but when we arrived at the restaurant, they had the right number so presumably the message was received. It's a cute, small restaurant in Shepherd's Market, not far from Green Park station in Mayfair. There is a pub next door, and there were a lot of people drinking in the streets, which we could see from our seat on the ground floor. There are only 2 tables on the ground floor, with another 6 or so downstairs in the basement, so the restaurant in all seats only about 40 people. However, there are seats at the bar on the ground floor as well, and apparently those don't take reservations and were empty when we arrived at 7:30 pm, so I would try that route if I come again! There were also 2 tables outside that seem to be part of the restaurant, but I wouldn't recommend that given the rowdy pub neighbours. For what they call "nibbles," we ordered the cod croquettes, which came with a green aioli sauce. The plating wasn't fantastic... it was just 3 round balls resembling arancini sitting on a triangle of folded napkin with a wedge of lemon on a white plate. We also got toasted bread with taleggio cheese, honey, and shavings of summer truffle. Both of these were nice, but nothing to write home about. For actual starters, we ordered burrata served with salad, and lamb chops with mint and parsley. Both of these were amazing. The burrata was wonderfully creamy, and the lamb chops were just stellar. It doesn't seem all that complex - mint and parsley is fairly standard - but it was cooked to perfection. Also to note, this restaurant loves serving meat with all the fat and trimmings included (more on that later). For our mains, my friend and I got the Galician steak, which was described to us as 12-year-old steak that comes from a dairy cow that has lived a good life. This was simply fantastic; I cannot recommend it enough. The steak was rare and cut into bite sized pieces, each ruby red with a charred rim. There were of course all the fatty bits as well, some of them not even cut off from the bites of meat. Personally I love that. The steak was served with a separate plate of roast potatoes with a mild mustard and Tunworth cheese, sautéed spinach and charred onions. The sides were also great, especially since I like my vegetables charred. Our friend got the duck main, which looked ok but she only had 4 bites of meat. It was actually one of the dishes that was nicely plated, but simply could not compare to our steak feast. Normally, I can't be tempted by desserts after a meal of so many courses, but we found the dessert menu irresistible. We even tried to order just 2 of them to share between 3 people, but ended up getting all 3. The most intriguing was a brown bread ice cream that tasted like toast, and was meant to have a hint of marmalade in the orange crumbs sprinkled on top. My friends were big fans of the lemon tart, which came highly recommended by the staff and was a bright yellow and had a top coating like crème brulee. I am not normally a fan of lemon tart, but it wasn't too strong and quite good. My personal favourite was the clotted cream ice cream served with cooked peaches. I haven't had cooked peaches in ages, and it went so well with a lightly flavoured ice cream. Overall, I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. When we went, there were no celebrities that I recognised, but we were told by the staff that the most interesting person that they've met is Pippa Middleton. The dining area is small and intimate, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was a place that you could actually talk, without loud music, too-dim lights, or being too packed next to other tables. There is a little bit for improvement - the plating was unspectacular, and the only knives we were given were butter knives, which we had to use to cut lamb chops and could have been helpful even with the small bites of steak. The takeaway message is that you must have the Galician steak. It is worth every penny. read more

This restaurant wowed me when I unknowingly sat on the patio for lunch with business colleagues. A minimalist menu for lunch, each dish was fabulous - exquisite ingredients, perfect execution and dynamic flavors. We had a pork loin for the table and a cod dish. The pork loin was tender and well-sourced with a number homey sides like roast potatoes. The cod was tender, with the texture of the fillet enhanced by great cooking execution. The wine list was also impressive for such a small destination. The servers were disinterested generally. This reduces my rating to 4.5, but I've rounded up to 5. read more

Everything is cooked on a wood grill and the flavor is fantastic. It's a cozy spot, we nested around the bar and were comfortable in our small space. The prices are a high but the food is outstanding. I also had a martini and the gin was also outstanding, unfortunately I've forgotten which gin he used to make it. My wife and I stopped in here for dinner on the night of our trip to London. The meal was, from top to bottom, incredible. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. We started with the whipped cod topped toast. The long, skinny bread was grilled or carmalized in some way and was really delicious. The whipped cod was extremely flavorful and complimented that delicious bread perfectly. I have never tasted anything like this and would highly recommend it. We then got a crab dish that was very fresh tasting. We loved that as well. My entree, a lamb rump, was one of the best entrees I can ever remember having. It was cooked perfectly, lightly charred on the edges, and served sliced thin over an indescribable yogurt sauce that was bursting with flavor. The burnt onion petals and grape tomatoes were so very good. There was an eggplant (aubergine) mouse served with it that was like the cherry on top. I tried to get a bit of everything with every bite and it all blended so well. It was just about as perfect a dish as they come. My wife got the sirloin steak on which I am blanking on the details but it was also excellent and perfectly cooked. Cocktails were delicious and service was excellent. Beautiful and very intimate atmosphere. I will without a doubt be going back when I next visit London and can not wait. read more
