Nice spot for a quiet breakfast and a pot of tea. Seats by the window are great for people watching. The avocado toast comes on a good slice of sourdough, topped with poached eggs and sriracha. Eggs were perfectly cooked and had the prettiest orange yolks. Recommend.

Great atmosphere with attentive service. The food was well priced and as to be expected. The Sticky toffee pudding was amazing and highly recommended.

Like all the other reviews, the service was totally spotty. We started with one waiter, then got another and then another, all with varying levels of attentiveness. But you should come to Brigade anyways. It's a social enterprise supporting the homeless community and the food is delicious. What's not to like? I had the veggie strudel which was delicious. The mushroom filling was savoury and well seasoned and paired well with the red cabbage and parsnips. My friend had the braised lamb which was melt in your mouth tender. The side of cabbage was oddly seasoned with lemon. This didn't quite work. A little salt and butter would have worked better. Overall a good meal. The Brigade is a worthy cause to support!

A Great Experience Benefiting a Great Cause During our most recent visit to London we had the opportunity to experience Brigade for the first time, and I came away totally impressed. As you entered through the bar area it was bustling with young professionals socializing following a long week at the office. It made me yearn to be working in London just so this could be my new favorite place to network and unwind. Being just around the corner from the Station, it certainly would be a convenient location to meet friends and colleagues for drinks and a catch-up. It was certainly a short enough stroll along the South Bank from the Grand Residence Marriott, and a central place to dine following a visit to the Borough Market, Tower of London, Tate Modern or the numerous other attractions in the area. As we did book for an early evening reservation, the hostess took us straight through to our table. Our waitress was at our table in a flash with the menus as well as a thorough explanation of the Apprentice Special Dishes for the Week. Once she took our drinks order, we had an opportunity to peruse the menu offerings, from the highly touted Steak & Oxtail Burger to the more adventurous Pot-roasted Rabbit, and in between, a little something for everyone. As we continued to ponder the delightful sounding offerings, our drinks arrived along with wonderful handmade breads and warm spicy olives with Chilli & lemon. These nibbles gave us ample time to watch the chefs doing their magic in the open view kitchen while we made our final selections, which turned out amazing. I started with the best Scotch Egg I have ever experienced, and my wife selected a Goats Cheese Rarebit. Our dinner guests chose the Foraged Wild Mushrooms on Sour Dough Toast and Wood Pigeon & Chicken Liver Terrine, both apparently equally awesome. For our Mains, I selected a Char-Grilled Ribeye Steak and my wife chose the Pan-fried Beef Fillet. I must say Texas steaks are world-famous, and these ranked right up there with the best. They were both cooked to medium-rare perfection and the presentation was delightful. Our guests enjoyed traditional Bangers & Mash and the Ale Battered Fish & Chips. You can't get much more British than that, and they were spot on. We shared sides of Garlic Mash, Crunchy Green Beans and the Salted Russet Chips - all excellent choices. All of this was complimented with a couple of bottles of nice South African wine from the excellent selections on the wine list. The serving portions were all so generous none of us were brave enough to attempt a dessert selection, although they all looked delicious. The attention we received from the wait staff was superb, and as there was a new waitress in training the night we visited we received double attention! They were both very well versed on the menu offerings and provided encouraging recommendations when we asked about the various dishes. When I first saw the name Brigade, The Fire Station, I wondered if the interior would look like an old fire station, complete with a brass pole for the firemen to slide down to their truck and fire coats & boots decorating the bar. But we were treated to an ultra-modern décor which contributed to the overall ambiance of the restaurant, and which provided a very romantic setting that makes for a terrific date night. If you choose to sit closer to the open kitchen area you can get an up-close and personal experience watching the chefs do their thing. I also saw a very nice private dining room that would be perfect for small dinner party's or celebrations. The Brigade's website indicates that Cooking School packages are available for private groups or corporate team building events. Offerings such as this with top-ranked chefs are very popular in the States, where individuals can register for classes with others to make up the necessary group size required to make an offering viable. I would be very interested in signing up for one on my next visit to London if they were offered. I was so impressed with Brigade that I have done a bit more research into its origin, and I find this is more than just a typical British Bistro / Bar. Through their affiliation with the Beyond Food Foundation, they are providing the opportunity for meaningful apprenticeships and employment that is both fulfilling to the individuals that participate as well as beneficial to society. This is a great cause and a brilliant example of how the private sector can give back to society, helping people pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and make a go at life, without having to rely on the government to take care of them. I applaud their efforts and encourage other business sectors to follow this model to help regenerate the economy and the people necessary to make it successful. Five Stars to Brigade on all fronts.

Liked how the restaurant looked inside but the food just above average. I could tell they were trying but overall I think the food taste was a little overpowering, which worked out pretty well with the pineapple sorbet that had a kick.

We were looking for a place near tower bridge and found this. Went with a couple of people from work for dinner, and they sat us immediately. The waitress was pleasant enough and had some suggestions on the entrees and starters. The carpaccio was very good as was the scotch egg starters. Most times in the states when I get that the yolk is as hard as a rock. Here, it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Probably it and the carpacio were the best part of the meal. The beer selection was okay, and they had meantime IPA, so I was happy. For an entree, I had the ox burger at the suggestion of the waitress. All was good, a little too well done for me, but no worries. They changed watresses on us at mid meal ( shift change?) and the second one was not as attentive. Regardless, an okay experience, and appetizers were the highlight.

    Bone marrow was delicious.

Was in London for a week in February, so glad we found this place. The food was really good, the service was amazing and the chef was a delight. The kitchen is opened concept so I was able to watch him prepare the food. He was making some sort of fish I did not recognize and we asked him about. He came out of the kitchen with a fish to show us and explain all about it. Will definitely come back for a meal or two the next time we vist

Second time I've been here and much difference in service. First time I came, waitress was attentive in a timely manner and helpful with the ordering pointing out the specials on the board. Meal was tasty and we did not have long waits. Staff were friendly which helped to an enjoyable night. The restaurant is placed far enough away from the noise of the bar which can get pretty lively. So sat at your table, you are none the wiser. I didn't think the bar would impact restaurant service but I can only assume it does. Second visit, my friend was left waiting for s simple glass of wine whilst sat in the restaurant. Whilst they did come and ask us about our order a few times (you know how it is when you get chatting), eventually when we ordered, good came in a reasonable time frame. This time however, there was no intro to specials or talk of the food offered on the menu. That being said service was friendly although my French beans were forgotten so by the time I realised they were not coming, reminded them and their arrival, my food was cold. No 'sorry' or anything. I like this place and it's only a short walk from London Bridge so, will be back. Hopefully third time will be more like the first.

Been here a couple of times now, I like the fact that regardless of the time it seems possible that there is a table available. The bar area does get very busy so you have to get your elbows out to get past and access the Resturant area, might I suggest another entrance. Exiting is never a problem as by the time I have left it's always been much quieter. The Resturant has a social business side to it giving opportunities to those who have suffered some set backs in life. Teaching them about cooking and the service industry and providing them with an opportunity to get back on thief feet. The food is always well prepared and presented. The portion size hits the spot, don't forget your side dishes to enhance your main meal experience. They have a good selection of wines to accompany your main meal. It is a good Resturant which is not too long a walk from London Bridge station so getting there and home again is easily achievable.

Walked into this quiet place and only a bartender to take care of inside and out! She was lovely and made great suggestions. I opted for the "pie of the day" which was steak and ale. AND literally nothing else! Steak, gravy and pastry. Don't get me wrong it was delicious, but no veg inside at all! Beer was great, she gave me tasters to find what I wanted and overall I would say give this place a try! Best part is it's JUST behind without the crazy of Tower Bridge and very few tourists. Just cut through Potters Field!!

However, it was a whopping 93 GBP for 600g, which is meant to share between 2 people, but still not that much (refer to my pic). This is simply just too high of a price for this. Bone marrow and onions (12 GBP) - This was surprisingly good. Although the marrow itself didn't have much of a flavor, it was a nice buttery consistency to spread on the bread. The onions were cooked very well. Sticky Toffee Pudding (9.50 GBP) - This was more of a bread like dessert than a pudding, but was tasty and not overly sweet despite the toffee (which is good). The staff are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The service speed is pretty quick. The interior is decorated in a nice yet not too pretentious steakhouse style. There were still plenty of open tables available on a Sunday night. Overall, while the steak and food are very good, the steak is simply too overpriced to justify me getting it again. Maybe worth trying once but not twice. I would potentially come back for the other menu options though.

I've been looking forward to visiting Duck & Waffle for quite some time. The views are incredible,…read morethe space itself is striking, and on paper it promises that perfect London mix of skyline, late-night energy, and elevated comfort food. Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.

I just have to say in general, everyone at this hotel and pub are just extraordinarily friendly and helpful. I'm not that familiar with pub culture and apparently the way it works is that you have to go up to the bar to order your food. I asked the hostess about it and she said that if we want a waitress there is an added service charge. We were on three walking tours that day and we're exhausted so I didn't care about paying the service charge. We started off with Yorkshire, puddings and gravy. I'm from the US. I don't usually get to have a Yorkshire pudding so I wanted to try it. It's kind of like a popover with gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was okay but the gravy was delicious. I saved the gravy and used it for the next part of my meal. We both had fish and chips. Unlike the US when I ask for malt vinegar, they know what it was and had it right away. I can't tell you how often in the US I'm giving red vinegar. The the fish and chips were spectacular. The fish was crispy even after sprinkling on the vinegar. The fries were very nice. Not as good as blacklock but very nice. And I am fry snob. My wife ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I couldn't even finish my fries, so I passed. Overall a very nice meal and perfect for us as we were exhausted from walking all day and only had to go upstairs to our room afterwards.
