    I really enjoyed this restaurant. First when I made reservations they asked if you were celebrating anything and I put our anniversary. Well to my surprise the first thing that brought us was a glass of champagne to help us celebrate. Very nice of them. The food was very well prepared and tasted marvelous. The decor is tastefully done and adds to the experience

    This is a wonderful neighborhood pub/restaurant! It's super cozy. The decoration of the dining room is authentic with history. We were lucky to find an open table for 2 on a Saturday evening. The appetizer octopus was fabulous! It's the Spanish style tapas. The octopus was soft and not too chewy. The potatoes with paprika powder were just simply delicious. The main dishes were amazing too. My favorite of the night was their rump steak. The steak was perfectly cooked in the medium rare condition and precisely cut into smaller pieces already. The peppercorn sauce was perfect with the steak. The potato terrine was very interesting! It's basically a super fancy way of serving potato chips. I love the texture that some of potatoes are soft, but some are crispy. The cauliflower puree was very good too. Overall, it is an excellently executed entree. The Newlyn Cod was good. It has very strong smoke flavor and pretty salty. The potato puree with leek was very good with cod. Overall, the food was very delicious. Excellent quality. However, the wait was very long. Although we didn't need to wait for a table, it took about 30 mins for the appetizer to come then another 30 mins or so for the main entrees. If the food would come faster, it would easily be 5 star review for me.

    I admit it, shamefully: I didn't know "Sunday Roast" was a thing in the UK. So as always, as soon as i heard about it I had to try it. A friend recommended The Garrison so I followed her advice. First off, i have never had Yorkshire pudding so felt extremely uninformed when it showed up as bread-ish (I was expecting like actual putting). The roast was cooked well and the vegetables were as well. The gravy/au-jus spread over the top of everything was really tasty as well. For the price i thought it was a great lunch and now will certainly be on the hunt for more "Sunday Roast" spots.

    Hidden gem on Bermondsey St. Great atmosphere with antique furniture and tables with a very friendly staff. The food is the star. The menu has a variety from seafood to meats. We shared some specials Monk Fish and smoky clams in broth. The highlight is the Mackerel Tartare with a chip made from squid ink. Best seafood starter I had in a while. I wanted to try everything, next time. They also have a great drinks menu with cocktails, beer and wine.

    It's like dining at your grandma's house! Black-and-white army photos hang on the walls, faded out-of-style lampshades float over your head, and mouthwatering aromas waft about the space. Except this isn't food like -my- grandma ever cooked. Perfectly roasted potatoes mixed with tender carrots and al dente broccoli are smothered in slabs of meat just ripe for dipping in gravy. The entire mound is topped off with a bowl of Yorkshire pudding. On the side, we're brought a tub of potent horseradish... we didn't even have to ask for it. Delightful! Now, if only I'd been able to walk out of here without a half-dozen bits of gristle stuck between my teeth... flossing never felt so relieving!

    We came here for Sunday Roast. Being North American, I knew this was a British tradition I just had to participate in! The environment was absolutely wonderful. Extremely cosy and warm. Brings back memories of Sunday dinners at grandmas house. The food was pretty average. Nothing was horrible, but also wasn't very good. All in all pretty bland. I will say the bread was amazing though. Overall, great place to spend an afternoon or dinner with some friends in a great environment. Food is not great, so don't come for that.

    Unique takes on many dishes. Excellent seafood and beverages. A gem for groups and a place to bring my wife back to for a special occasion. Service was lovely.

    I booked a table for sunday roast/brunch based on Christoph N.'s detailed review on the Garrison. The place is a cozy/hipster gastropub that serves quite a few interesting dishes as well as a well a good Sunday roast menu. We ordered the chicken and vegetarian dishes out of the Sunday roast menu and split the chocolate brownie for dessert. All the dishes were really tasty and filling so that was great. The only downside was the service, our server just kept taking our plates once she assumed we were done, without really asking if we are done or not. Because of that, I had to sadly say goodbye to a few last bites on my main dish and brownie (which I actually should be thankful for). Reservation is a must.

    The ever popular Garrison sets the standard in gastronomic drinking houses with mouth-watering food, gorgeous log cabin inspired decor and a range of lagers, ales and wines to suit your taste. The staff here are wonderfully helpful, greeting you at the door and remaining attentive to your every need from start to finish. This helps greatly to lighten the atmosphere making the Garrison feel much like a country retreat rather than a city pub. The food is the obvious standout feature with a menu that boasts a terrific variety of seasonal and expertly prepared food. The ever changing daily specials will leave you spoilt for choice and ensure that you keep coming back for more. There is nothing dramatic or overdone about the Garrison, it has the reserve and classic sophistication of an aging academic and simply lets the food and ambience do the talking.

    Why don't I venture out here more? The Garrison & Bermondsey Street, up to recently was a mystery to me and I only really came out here to intrude on my friend's brunch with her boyfriend (which I had not met before), even though I protested as I didn't want to feel like a third wheel. Oh how glad I did.... From the moment I stepped in - I knew this was my kind of place. I am a sucker for amazing quirky decorated places and 'The Garrison' didn't disappoint with it's mix match plates, cosy tea sets and eccentric trinkets. The people was lovely but service was a little slow though I wasn't too worried about that as it was Sunday Brunch so the place was packed. If you haven't made a booking you might have to wait a bit. We ordered some tea and OJ for drinks then me and my friend ordered Eggs Benedict and her boyfriend got a full English breakfast. It arrived with no delay and looked amazing drenched in just the right amount of yellowy Hollandaise sauce. It was so good and fulling that I don't think I was hungry till well in the afternoon. I can't wait to head back to try out the lunch and dinner menu if breakfast was so good. BTW, we dined on the table next to Professor Green, apparently it's a favourite haunt of his as well. Amazing breakfast and celebrity spotting - what more can you ask of a Sunday morning.

    Great decor and atmosphere, very friendly staff, a bit pricey given the relatively small portions I was on the search for a new brunch place today with a couple of friends. Walking down Bermondsey, we noticed the Garrison and the smells emanating from the kitchen were enough to draw us in immediately. We ran into a slight hurdle as we hadn't made a reservation and the place was packed (this is about 1pm on a Sunday). Luckily, the opened up the cinema room downstairs and seated us right away. The girls grabbed the really comfy looking couch type seats and I settled into the hard wooden chairs (damn the price of chivalry!). Our waitress was cute and friendly and was eager to provide suggestions when asked despite having just started the day before. We opted for a mix of dishes to share: 1) smoked pigeon with black pudding on a bed of rocket, 2) shredded pork and salmon (the mix had the consistency of light tuna salad) with melba toast and a mustarda (not really sure what this was made of), and 3) a pork sunday roast with all the trimmings. The smoked pigeon was tasty with a rich salty flavour and the meat was tender as duck should be. Sadly, the portion was barely more than a breast, so it was perhaps an appetiser but not proper meal. The shredded pork and salmon likewise was full of flavour but lacking in size. The pork roast was seared and juicy but more than half of the serving was fat which was a bit disappointing. The potatoes deserve special mention as they were delicious with crispy chewy skin containing light fluffy flesh. The potatoes were also tossed with herbs giving a little extra flavour. The pear and blackberry crumble and salty caramel ice cream was a satisfying end to the meal. The cumble was a little too chewy but the pear and blackberry filling was sweet and tart in all the right places. The ice cream (recommended by our waitress) was the perfect complement with the saltiness enhancing the sweetness of the crumble. Overall, loved the taste of the food and just wished the portions were a bit bigger. It's a good place to have a chat and catch up with friends over a quick bite, but won't satisfy that hungover brunch craving.

It was covered in a red curry gravy,slightly spicy. It came with roasted potatoes and broccoli, and a Yorkshire pudding. Plenty. We left a couple potatoes and broccoli on the plate. The cost was $46 US.

Just had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon here and couldn't get over how much they went out of their way so you can carry on, enjoy and have fun. Top top banana.

Make a reservation to not miss it. The bar offered a large lineup of beers, ales, wines, and cocktails. The bartenders were very personable and friendly even during a rush. They immediately noticed our American accents and chatted us up on where we were from, how we were liking London, etc. They were just overall very friendly and welcoming. Borough market, just across the road may offer a world of different foods, but The George Inn offers traditional British pub food at its best, in warm, historic rooms. This is your place if you're looking for authentic fish 'n chips--they're fresh, lightly battered and perfectly fried without being greasy. I also had the mac 'n cheese which used real vintage/sharp cheddar--and a lot of it--excellent! So you'll get good food while enjoying a historic inn where, for hundreds of years, travelers changed horses, got food, drink, and lodging before the railway era. IMPORTANT TIP: You order food at the bar--but you will need a table number. So you'll need someone in your party to sit at a table in the adjoining room. There'll be a brass plate with a number on it which you'll give when you order--so the food can be brought to your table.
