Nice little pace to grab a bite and a pint. Ended up getting chips and some croquets and of course pints. Overall nice - pretty large space. Service was great and cute decor. Food quality was good and able to get seating easily. Overall nice experience and recommend

We had made a reservation, but we still had to wait like 15 min past our reservation time be seated. And it took a while for someone to come by to take our order. But when the food finally came, it was pretty good! The rosemary focaccia was one of the highlights of the night. My expectations were honestly kind of low when it came out because the bread looked so plain. But it was so delicious. The bread was crispy on the outside, nice and warm and fresh, and dense and soft in the best way on the inside. The balsamic and olive oil sauce only added to it. The fish and chips were pretty good. I like that they keep the skin on, so you get the crispiness and saltiness from that. And it keeps the fish itself moist and buttery. But the serving is pretty big and the oiliness gets to you fast. Coupled with chips - everything was just way too heavy. The Sunday roast was pretty much what I expected. The meat could have been more tender, but the gravy it was in was delicious. I also love the vegetables. This was my first time trying Yorkshire pudding and it just tasted like ok bread so I didn't care too much for it. After we ate our entrees, we were waiting for dessert. But yet again, it was so hard to flag a waiter down again. Eventually we were able to get someone's attention to order the sticky toffee pudding. We started the meal on a good note and we sure ended on one too. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. It came out hot with a scoop of ice cream. And the toffee flavor was so deep and rich, almost to the point of chocolate. And the cake itself was so moist. Yum yum yum!

My husband and I ate a late afternoon early dinner here for a classic Sunday roast when we were in London. I can't recommend it enough. The portions were incredible, every element of the Sunday roast was delicious. I got the chicken and my husband got the beef. The gravy that comes with it was absolutely incredible. This is a classic pub in a great location. The service was friendly and accommodating.

Popped in here on Easter Sunday because I was craving Sunday roast. I had the 28-day aged sirloin roast; I'm not a big connoisseur, but I liked it a lot! Yorkshire pudding could have been a tad better, but again, not a connoisseur. Servers were pleasant, professional, and efficient. Kitchen seemed to get food out at a reasonable time. The ambiance was casual but not hole-in-the-wall. Tasteful decor; what you might expect from a traditional British pub in a nice area. Bathrooms: Clean and spacious, generally quite nice.

Flew in on a Sunday and arrived at my hotel around noon. Immediately went to the concierge to see…read moreif he could secure me a spot since I had zero luck trying to get a reservation on line for two weeks prior. Remarkable, he scored and I literally walked around the corner and saw the long line to get into the pub first. I was seated immediately, however, and proceeded to enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast. Room was very pleasant (there are so many I got lost returning to my table from a bio brake. Roast was very good ( but no Lawry's) and the sides excellent. Could not decide if my favorite was the roast potatoes (crispy outside soft inside) or the glazed carrots. Yorkshire pudding was good but again, I am to used to the Lawry's and this is a different style. Peas were, well, peas, but very fresh. The sticky toffee cake was excellent and the Guinness fresh, creamy and a proper pour. Good thing because the selection of winners by the glass and half bottles of wine were both a little thin. Overall wine list was good but I was alone and not up for drinking a full bottle by myself. Overall, very enjoyable and to judge by the crowd and difficulty in getting a reservation, one of the more popular in town.

The history alone makes it worth visiting, and the location is perfect if you're exploring the area. It feels very classic London in the best way. We stopped in for a pint and honestly... the whole after-work beer culture over there is something I really need to bring back with me to the States. The beer was great, the atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming, and it just felt like one of those places where people naturally gather and stay awhile. Definitely worth stopping into if you're in the area.

Two story space - the ground floor feature the bar and handles walk in lunch; the upstairs is a dining room for those with reservations. Fun fact, as part of the history, the pub used to be the host of bare knuckle fights and had regulars like Charles Dickens. Wildfarmed sourdough - served with whipped salted butter and Guinness butter. Well toasted bread and the butters with salt were well made. Fuller's London Pride marinated steak and ale pie - served with seasonal veggies and red wine gravy, as well as either mash potatoes or triple cooked chips. If there is one dish London does really well, it's their pies. It was beautifully made and loaded with steak. The red wine gravy was decadent and added a perfect amount of moisture to the pie. Triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy but fluffy on the inside. Corn fed chicken breast - served with garlic and sage butter, mash potato, cavolo nero, and crispy onions. Only took a bite of this as it was my partner's dish but the bite of chicken I had was very juicy and well seasoned.
