A hidden gem in the hamlet of East Hartland CT, this restaurant oozes with history, a welcoming aura, and wonderful aromas. I hadn't been to this location in over 15 years, and probably two businesses ago. The current owners have been here about six years, I'm told, and judging from the number of cars in the parking lot, are putting out some really good food. I can attest to that. I sat at the bar, where Julianna took my order of a MW Station Burger with crispy fries. The burger was perfectly cooked, and had a definite charbroiled taste. 8 ozs of perfection between a substantial (not flimsy) bun. And loads of Heinz ketchup, because ketchup is a vegetable (and I put ketchup on my ketchup).Fries were nice and crispy. Good beer selection. The vibe was a low murmur, lively but def not deafening. The crowd at the bar was very friendly. One lady to my right seemed to be a regular, and rated her chicken francaise 5-star. She even allowed me to take a picture of it (posted). Another friendly group of three (definitely regulars) seemed to really enjoy their pizza. All of us shared tips on where to go in the area for bbq, Mexican, etc. Julianna provided great service with a smile. Overall, really good food, good value. Very clean. Lots of outdoor seating. Hours are currently 4-9, Wednesday thru Sunday.

First time dining here, beautiful restaurant & amazing wood entryway with patio seating. The atmosphere is cozy & charming. The waitress was very friendly. They were short staffed in the kitchen so she explained we couldn't put in an app or meal order for 30 minutes. We were fine with that, she brought a basket of bread & drinks to get us started. We ordered the Brussels sprout appetizer, Chicken cordon bleu and chicken francaise. The portions were large & the app and meals were great. Very fresh & flavorful. Unfortunately, the dessert was below average a we tried the cheesecake & carrot cake. The carrot cake had something in addition to the carrots, raisins & nuts - possibly pineapple?

You will see mixed reviews and I think that is due to lack of consistently lately. The menu has changed twice since January, so it's understandable that they're just trying to figure out what works with the rising cost of food. With that being said, The Coach Stop is a little hot spot on Friday and Saturday nights...so yes, you will wait a long time for your food and service perhaps. We have loved the food and service and we have not loved the food and service.....but it's the neighborhood spot, so like any relationship, it might not be 100% all the time. We have loved our food more so than not in general and last week we loved it ........and I will say that their wings are better than the Royal Coachman's wings.

Don't waste your time unless your hunger outpaces your taste. Large portions of mediocre at best food. Atmosphere is nice.

    Is there a menu online?

Not really but if you look at photos, you'll see the two pages of the regular menu and the pub menu. Everything's available except the gyro sliders for some reason.

Our server, Chris, produced menus and took drink orders. Although I am a big fan of housemade corned beef hash (and Drago's is exceptional), I was intrigued by one of the numerous specials, "The Pastor" Benny. It consisted of two separate towers of sausage patty on the bottom, then potato pancake, with poached egg and hollandaise sauce on top...and several spices. It was amazing, like a tsunami hitting my taste buds. The potato concoction was perfect, as were the poached eggs. Two of my friends had Granby Oaks, and the 3rd had several ala carte items. All of us were members of the clean plate club. Chris was excellent and efficient, and kept us well-caffeinated. Overall, great food and service, and reasonable prices. One caution...if you come on weekends, probably call in advance to see if they take reservations. They get crowded. 5 pastor benny stars

My wife and I were headed in that general direction on an early Saturday morning and this was the spot I picked. I will say, going in, I knew that breakfast may take some time and that Drago's isn't what I'd call, "diner-quick." That was ok with me because I had time to kill before a loose 9am appointment. It took a bit for us to be acknowledged and seated but I was ok with that. Our waitress was warm and welcoming and though I knew what I was going to order before I even left the house, the specials she rattled off all sounded great. I am obsessed with biscuits and sausage gravy and knew it was on the menu. It's not only on the menu but the staff's shirts all mention the biscuit. DAMN that is a good biscuit. It's a HUGE cheddar and chive biscuit (big enough for a sandwich). Paired with the sausage gravy and my perfect over-medium eggs it was a wonderful meal. My wife had the French Dip benny which she liked but would not order again. She felt the roast beef was a little tough. Hers came with a "loaded potato cake" which was insanely delicious. It's about the size of a crab cake, made with shredded potatoes and was so, so good. Of note-reasonable prices, many vegan, vegetarian and GF options (including vegan meats and cheese). The lunch menu looks really tasty too. I will be back (and I will get both a biscuit and a loaded potato cake to go, in addition to another great meal).

EXPERIENCE; What did come as a surprise to me was the popularity of this rural tavern on a fall Friday evening and the quality of food and service experienced. Jason P. had reported excellent fish and chips, noteworthy wings, and selection of local beers at the tavern in his review. I ordered the fish and chips alongside the server's suggested Norbrook Farm-brewed Mount Pisgah IPA. The fish and chips dish ($20) was as Jason had described -- "TOP TIER". I look forward to exploring the menu further (although it will be hard to pull me away from the fish and chips). Kudos to the tavern's Head Chef Austin Ouelette and his crew! AMBIANCE: There are three dining areas -- an outdoor patio, a newly renovated, modern dining room, and the original dining room filled with colonial-inspired furniture. TIP: Parking lot size was insufficient the Friday evening I visited, necessitating parking on the shoulder of State Route 20 . This possibility may be circumvented via a visit on an earlier weekday. The tavern is open to visitors and inn guests Wednesday through Sunday.

Their menu has a lot of different options to please everyone in your party. They've got the typical go-to's (burgers, sandwiches, pizza) but then you get into some house made comforts like chicken pot pie and bacon wrapped meatloaf. The service is great, but since it's a pretty small place the waitresses might be pretty busy so just be patient. With that said, seating is fairly limited on a busy Friday/Saturday night or if they are having a special for dinner, so definitely make reservations! We came for late lunch on Saturday and it was fairly quiet. Needless to say, since it's off the beaten path we sometimes forget this gem is here but when we remember we never regret it!

The soup was phenomenal, so flavorful and warm, it was exactly what we needed on a snowy day. Our sandwiches contained everything we had ordered and they were beautifully made, not too messy but not lacking anything either. A footlong turkey, cheese, L,T, Bacon and Mayo was around $20. My husband's roast beef footlong with L,T, mayo, pickles, peppers, and provolone was a little over $22. A little pricey but like I said before-the sandwich wasn't lacking by any means. I think the best part was walking in and every single person working greets you so warmly. They seem so thrilled to do what they do every day and that alone makes me want to come back.
