I love Coach! I am not rich and cannot afford bags from Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc. But I am fine with it and have been buying from Coach for years. I like their style of handbags and wallets - not too crazy but not too plain and everything is well made - I haven't had anything break on me yet! I also appreciate the 25% off postcards that come in the mail every once in a while. The layout of the store is great, everything is well organized and easy to find. However, the employees can get kind of annoying. You walk in, one of the employees welcome you to the store, they tell you about any sales that are going on or where the new items are located, and they ask if they can help you with anything. Ok cool, so someone has acknowledged my presence in the store and offered help. Me: I'm just looking around, thanks. Employee: Oh sure, let me know if you need any help. As soon as I pick up a bag and look at it, the same employee races up to me: Employee: Are you shopping for a gift or for yourself? Me: Myself. Employee: Do you have any questions? Me: No, I'm just checking it out, thanks. Then I pick up another bag that catches my eye. Employee: This bag is great because blah blah blah blah..... Then I got the crappiest service from Tatiana, who rather chat with a "better" customer than help me with my shoes. The gal helping me saw me looking at the ring, and I told her I wanted one in size 7. The only one left was the display, and she was going to wrap it up. I commend the Coach staff for not being intrusive, allowing us to walk around, browse at our leisure and when we looked like we were about to ask for some assistance, promptly appeared to help us. Don't walk in here with a designer bag, the employees follow you around like a stray dog trying to get a meal. I'm glad they admire my handbag but for the love of god of if you follow me around and pop up after I touch something I'm not going to buy it - it's annoying. If I need help I'll find you. Bought shoes over the phone May 29 I told the person the name of the shoe and color and mentioned wedge. Anyways got charged twice he told me that the first payment didn't go through so he needed my card info again so i give it to him and he says if I see a charge that it will go away. I check and got charged twice but still he said it will go away. I then did curbside pickup and went home super excited get home and wrong shoes they are similar but completely different name and they are flat sandals so I am sad, okay I will return them the next day. Nope store is closed on weekends, okay that is fine but then I check my statement and see that I did get billed twice and money obviously taken out twice. I hope to go on Monday but protests occur and Mall does not open. I wait a bit then the double charge is still there so I dispute one of the charges not both since I got billed twice. I get a refund and the other charge stays the same as I did pay for one pair of shoes so makes sense. I wait a few more weeks I go back June 24th I return the shoes since mall is now open but they do not have the shoes I originally wanted (size), I got a refund that day and now I just got billed again for the same charge. But then check my statements and got a refund twice so that is just a whole mess and now they took out money because they refunded me twice. Wow all this mess over one phone call ?? So I am now negative 131.99 so maybe I missed they refunded me twice but I also see on my statements that charge four times. ughhh????? Long story short I had a great experience ordering online on coach outlet for other items but here I have no idea what the issue is? Coach has been an inconsistent experience lately, as I visit South Coast Plaza about once a month and usually don't leave without at least a little purchase. I've been lately be given a great backpack which I came back to exchange the color but also to check out other things. A manager, Cyndee, was the person who helped me. She is really kind, patient and knowledgeable. I did exchange the new color bag with her. I brought back the shopping bag with the box; I've been given a dust bag instead. After a couple nights of the new bag sleeping in the garage, I took it off the bag and decided to fill it up with my stuff for the next day, but I discovered there were white stains on the black leather (which at the stores, I have been told were water damage.) Long story short, when brought back to the store they said I was a liar but why bother. The manager was nice, the rest of the employees just kept rotating around us like if it was a show. I went in to this store with my daughter, just to look. I saw some cute boots. Actually tried them on and was ready to buy. They did not have my size. The sales girl looks in her computer to see if Other stores have my size - they don't. She talks about maybe ordering some then starts helping someone else. She says 'write your name number down I will call you if you're find some'. As I am walking out of the store my 10 year old has the boots pulled up on her phone on Coach's website and says - why don't you just buy them online ?' Yea. Great idea. Mimi was a total sweetheart when I went to go purchase a bag for my sister's birthday. I brought the bag home and showed it to my sister Friday night. She liked the bag, but ended up telling me Saturday that her boyfriend bought her one as well. We decided late Saturday night once we were both at home that we would return in the following afternoon. We went to the store on Sunday to get a refund and immediately after entering the store this Asian sales associate with black rimmed glasses asked us if we needed help. I told her we came to return a bag in which she said no problem super nicely and I thought in my head, what nice customer service. LIES, I WAS WRONG. Here is when crap hit the fan. We told her we wanted a refund and didn't want an exchange of any sort. Both her and the cashier asked us if we wanted to exchange it for another bag, but we explained the situation and said it wouldn't be necessary. She opened the box and checked out the bag and told us that the bag had obvious signs of use. Her proof was some ripped tissue paper inside that got stuck on the seam. I shrugged it off because I knew the paper was from the tissue and not lint, so I defended myself and told her it was never used. She continuously kept accusing us of using it (for one day, seriously?) because yeah...my sister used it so much from the one day we actually had it and accumulated enough lint from our dirty possessions. What really got on our nerves was that she kept going on about how she wouldn't be able to resell the bag in "this condition" the hell?! What condition? Unused? At least in the end we got a refund directly from the manager once she realized we were getting angry, but I'm never purchasing anything here ever again. Mimi, you are an absolute sweetheart, and I really appreciate your help. My one star is for your sincerity and sweetness. As a retail bank manager, I understand and know the pressure of customer service. Even in higher-end stores like Coach, standards have seemed to have gone down these days (even at South Coast Plaza, a mall in which I used to look forward to visiting). Maybe its the accessibility syndrome and the mallization of finer quality, who knows. But the Coach store in South Coast has definitely got the best service I have ever seen and is a shining gem left in that overly-idolized mall. In a recent trip to visit Orange County to visit a friend two weeks ago, I decided to pop in to Coach while shopping at South Coast to see if somebody could help me with a card holder wallet that I had purchased a year ago which had the plastic coming out. I must concede, I probably filled it to capacities in which it was not intended to be used since I used it as my day-to-day wallet. So I went in with my expectations pretty low, actually expecting them to turn me away with nothing they could do. But the minute I stepped up to the counter, an assistant manager, Noelle, came right up to assist once she saw her verdant associate just a bit puzzled with the request (dont blame her, I probably would have been too). I explained briefly, she took a look (laughed a little since I pulled out about 10 credit cards/pieces of plastic) and said, "Honey, it's not meant to be stuffed that much...But we can fix it. We can send it out for repair and have it ready in about 5 days." I said, "Oh thats great, but I don't live here, I live in San Francisco." She replied, "No problem, we will get it shipped to you up to your address." My brief dialogue cannot express the additional feeling I received as I left that store knowing that someone really went the extra mile for me, even though I had not even purchased anything at this particular store at that moment.... What actually prompted me to write this review however (it does take a LOT to impress me) was tonight when I received my package. It has been just two weeks since my visit in the OC and I received my package by Fed Ex. Inside was a beautifully wrapped Coach box, with tissue and a bow, and inside my perfectly-repaired wallet. As good as new. AND, inside a personalized note from Noelle herself thanking me for stopping in, even leaving her contact info at the store. TOP NOTCH service from a retailer that you would expect it from...but which really does execute it in reality. I URGE you to visit this particular store of Coach if you are in the OC area as it is the BEST Coach I have ever been into (out of about 10 in the US). I will be sure to purchase all of my future Coach goods by mail through this store and hope I have the fortune of visiting the area soon so I can pay another visit and hopefully bring along a few new customers with me. When I walked in the store, I realized that I should have gone there in the first place. :-) I met Amanda who is so knowledgeable, with 10+ years here, and very helpful. Not only did she assure me that she could take back the brand new purse (still in the box), she also helped me select the perfect one for me. She showed me the purses with the style I was looking for, one of which is a gorgeous navy blue (when I thought I wanted grey) with gun metal accents, and I walked out of the store with it and a huge smile on my face. Picked up a shoulder bag for my wife here for her birthday gift a couple weeks ago. The sales associate that helped us was very friendly and helpful. She even got the item gift wrapped for us at no additional charge. We ended up having to exchange the bag for a different model since the shoulder strap that came with the bag was too long and not adjustable. The SCP Coach Store has been a hit or miss for me throughout the years. However, the staff are generally very helpful and courteous. I have encountered the occasional snob who obviously feels inferior and must resort to treating customers as if we are infringing upon "her" property- but fortunately- most of the staff have been very helpful and friendly! I have also experienced erroneous information provided over the phone. I called about returning a hand bag that was purchased at the outlet in Carlsbad and was told to bring in the hand bag. However, when I arrived at the store- I was informed that they do not accept returns from the outlets. I have previously returned a hand bag purchased at an outlet store- but that was several years ago; maybe the policy has changed. I am a Coach consumer and admirer for many years! I have given my daughters hand bags, accessories, and treats that they enjoy and appreciate. The quality and beauty are fabulous. Although I do have a problem with the label "made in China" and cringe at the thought that the quality will eventually be noticeably deteriorating. For now, I will continue to enjoy these classy and well made hand bags and accessories. I wish the management at SCP Coach Store would read these reviews and make changes that will result in a more consistent customer service theme. Let me start off by saying I'm a Libra through and through. I'd rather shop than breathe. I'd give a piece of my liver for a purse and a pair of shoes. I would have to say I love this store because I've had one of their watches for about 2 1/2 years and it's still in style. :) I've owned a few coach purses, all of which have stuck with me through thick and thin, and even the accessories that I buy have a guarantee on them. Whenever a jewel has fallen off of my pave heart keychain or cell phone charm, it is automatically replaced once I bring it in -- which has happened probably 3 or 4 times already. Yea yea, I drop my keys/phone a lot that's possibly why. They even look up the item I had if it isn't available in store anymore and conveniently ship it to me. The ladies that work here are very nice and attentive in my opinion. They make recommendations if there are certain items that you are looking for and wait patiently while you try and decide what you want. They were polite and extremely helpful. After my initial purchase I even got a letter sent to my house thanking me for the purchase and the SA even remembered it was for my mom, saying she hopes my mom likes it. I generally don't shop at Coach for a number of different reasons, and this trip only confirmed that particular train of thought. I received a purse for Christmas that while lovely, was simply too small. I brought it into this location and was greeted warmly by Stephanie. I showed her the purse, and she went into the back for (I assume) some sort of managerial approval. She came back out and said an exchange of $178 would be ok (with this handwritten on the back of a receipt). I'm happy with that as it was a gift and I had no receipt. I perused the store with Stephanie being quite helpful and wound up with 2 pairs of boots, estimated at $325. No problem, save a bit, spend a bit, works for me. As I go to cashier out, another woman helps Stephanie and says "oh no, you can't give it to her for that refund amount" to which I just quietly listen to their conversation (as I'm sitting 2 feet away). At the end, Stephanie calls somewhere else and then tells me that she can only give me $61.25 for the return. Now, I could have cared less if $61.25 was the original return amount quoted, hell even if it had been $20, not the issue at hand. I have a very large problem with a guest being quoted a price, verbally and physically (the hand written paper) and then a store not honoring the number given. While Stephanie was quite helpful and apologetic, my qualms lie solely with the management that she consulted. As she could only do what was directed I feel bad for even including her here. But I digress, I've always found customer service lacking at Coach, and today was just a reminder that somethings don't change. read more

The most shocking experience. One buys Coach bags not because it's cheap but because of its reputation which makes you believe you are buying quality. WRONG!!! I chronically overpaid for a large white patent leather "diaper bag". I was ok with that but only to find out I was wrong. The bag turn a dirty yellow. When I took it back I was told it because I kept it in a plastic bag and patent leather changes colour under these conditions. The sales person was embarrassed when I told her it was not nor ever was stored in a plastic bag and all our bags are kept in pillow cases. She quickly said she would have to call her manager which she did. This manager, then told me it was because it was patent leather and the chemical that is used to make patent leather changes the colour. I went from Coach to 3 other stores, who will remain nameless for the purpose of this review, who all told me that that was a feeble excuse. Even if it is true.... I question how does Coach possibly sell a product that will change colour to that extent. The product is obviously defective and they have no intention to resolve the problem. Oh my super god! I had one of my best shopping experience here. I got decent discount, which was very impressive. Today I got a appreciation card with $50 in it! Came here during the Winter Sale. I asked if they had the Steggy Coin Purse and they did! ON SALE. SOLD! Yeah, customer service here was definitely great the store had a nice layout and in the corner you could get your stuff monogrammed! That was pretty neat. They have a lot of selection here, and superb customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to come back of I was in the area. This is by far the worst Coach store I've ever been to. After this experience and an experience at another location, I will never shop at Coach again. This mall has so many stores that are legitimate designers, I should have known better and stuck with the brands I love. I had purchased an item at a Coach store in Carmel that I needed to return and was told by the Coach here at South Coast that the item was from an outlet. The Carmel location did not advertise anywhere that it was an outlet. I'm not against outlet shopping but when you go to a free-standing location they should make customers aware that it is an outlet, not an actual store, especially if (despite being a massive, multi-national company) you aren't going to honor returns between the two versions. Instead, Coach prefers the shady practice of having outlet stores that are indistinguishable from their regular stores. That's what you get with a low-end designer. They're basically knocking off their own brand. What a joke. My experience at this location was just as bad. They had a private event (ultra exclusive) and offered to "let" me shop (how kind of them), but made me come back an hour later to do a return. Thankfully it's a mall, so I'm not too annoyed at this point, so I shop around and come back an hour later, only to find out I can't do the return because the original purchase was from an outlet which I was not made aware of. To top off this ridiculous experience, the first employee to greet me was trying so hard to seem high end she just came across as insulting and patronizing. It's Coach. You can hold all the private events in the world, and you're still on 75% discount at TJ Maxx. Get over yourselves. While she's baby talking to me, this woman was practically grabbing at my bag to look inside at the item I wanted to return, then when she sees the receipt, she gives me this fake apologetic attitude about how this is from an outlet and boo-hoo, they can't honor returns. I don't need someone to talk down to me or act shocked when I didn't like something from their store. Again, Coach, get over yourselves! read more
