While visiting South Coast, we decided to stop by the boutique, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We were greeted by a gentleman at the front who was extremely loud and theatrical--almost as if he had just stepped off a Broadway stage. He came across as overly pushy and kept insisting I try silhouettes that didn't suit my style or preferences. It was a stark contrast to my regular Client Advisor, who takes the time to truly understand me and my taste. So what is the most prized merchandise in my closet? Hands down my Bottega Veneta Lug Boots! Not only does it make me feel a lot more confident wearing them, it goes with virtually anything I wear and adds a little more something to it. The boots are also more versatile in situations than my other favorite wardrobe piece, my Veronica Beard scuba blazer. I'm definitely not a handbag gal and a lot of my clothes are boutique pieces I find in thrift stores but I can fall in love with the right shoe. For a few years now I have been trying to get the "perfect" Chelsea boot that I can wear in more formal settings. My "casual/workhorse" utility boot I already have in the form of a Doc Martens 1460 in a softer leather for easier break-in. I love the idea of the boot but finding the perfect boot didn't happen until I went shopping at South Coast Plaza. My sister got her boot from another store but I heard one of the employees of that store say that this sold the classier/less "edgy" version of the boot. If anything I was just merely curious when I stepped in the store just because there is no BV location in SD; this is the closest location to me. When Isaac approached us I was just merely curious to try on the boot. What resulted is the closest thing I had to a Cinderella moment and I got it on the spot. A lot of my most beloved clothing and accessories have been from impulse buys but in my defense I had been thinking about the concept for a while. The boot is quite comfy. There was no real break-in period for me but I also don't wear these boots when I anticipate 8+ hours on my feet. The boot itself is big - toebox is wide so I actually got a half-size down (comparison: I get size 9.5-10 on most other shoes). The boot is solid black and all shoes handmade in Italy with the best craftsmanship. Each boot has its own individual sleeve for storage but in this particular instance I also store the shoes in its own original box. Probably the worst return policy. When I bought my bag, my salesperson Debbie asked if it was my first time shopping here and I answered "yes." With that being said I think it's her job to notify the buyer the return policy BEFORE making a purchase. I love free perfume samples that stores like Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus offer. Ultra high-end perfumes, and if you want a sample, they give it. Such was the case of Bottega Veneta "pour homme." I already own the same for women, so when they gave me a sample for men, I took it with glee. I love the Bottega for women, and it just so happens, I also love how the male version smells on my husband. When we were at South Coast Plaza right on his birthday just browsing the shops, guess where we stopped in. The sample had gotten all used up, so I bought him a large bottle of their cologne for men. My experience at Bottega started earlier this year while planning for a trip to Europe. The salesperson Toni helped me with checking out a few options and I decided on one. Once I took it home I realized it was a little too small for its purpose and called Toni to see if I could return it for something else. When speaking with her she said it wasn't a problem so I headed to the store and resumed my search. Toni was patient as I decided to tell her I think I was going to wait. I received a store credit and headed home. The Bottega Veneta web store also contradicts this store's policy, which allows returns within 20 days of purchase. The products are beautiful, but buyer beware on this store's return policies. (Update) I called the Bottega Veneta client services phone number on the store website and complained about the return policy. They put me in touch with the South Coast Plaza store manager, Julia. I was pretty angry about the situation but she was professional and honored the return as a one-time exception. I went back and forth between Ferragamo, Gucci, Zegna, Tod's and BV for a driver shoe and decided to go with BV because their shoes are very unique, more specifically the weave driver in ardoise intrecciato suede. I have always been a fan of Bottega Veneta and have nice collection of their leather bracelets. On December 22, 2015 I bought a bracelet and wallet from the Costa Mesa Bottega Veneta. For the bracelet they did not have my size in stock and it was going to be shipped from another store. I tried on a similar bracelet, same size, but different color and the fit was to my liking. About a week later I got a call and came in to pick up my bracelet. That day I had to travel so I did not have time to try it on. On a side note the story employ didn't even verify who the purchaser was when I picked up my item, just handed me the bag without inspecting the item. I eventually tried the bracelet on and it was looser than I initially thought it was going to be. I prefer a tighter fit. I decided to return the bracelet. When I arrived at Bottega Veneta Costa Mesa and told the staff I needed to make a return their attitude suddenly became rude and started to treat me like some type of suspect. They claimed I had worn the item. I never wore the item. If the item was worn it was most likely due to the fact "Bottega Veneta" sold me used merchandise which is on them. They then told me I can't return the item since it has been 10 days past the date on the original receipt. I told them the item was shipped to the store and picked up at a later date which makes the 10 day rule begin when I picked up the item. They start to process a return for store credit, I explain that I want a full refund. They claim the receipt states you may only receive an exchange or store credit. California Civil code states that the fine print on the receipt does not the count as notifying the customer of the return policy and no where was the stores return policy written when I purchased the item in store or visible to me. Bottega Veneta is violating consumer civil code. This is still unresolved issue. I am going to see the store manager tomorrow and discuss my issues. Either way the Attorney Generals office should be notified so they may do their own investigation to see if Bottega Veneta Costa Mesa is following California consumer civil code. Another thing that annoyed me was the clerk wrote a note on the receipt that stated, "my return was due to a change of mind." This is not true. My return was due to improper sizing and fit. The medium doesn't fit me and the large is too tight. This is hardly a change of mind, but lack of sizes by Bottega Veneta. read more

Horrible service, namely manage Phi Le. I brought in my brand new bag in for repair. I purchased it in Italy and found a tear in the leather after I returned. I was promised that bag would be repaired and SHIPPED to me. Because I don't live too close to South Coast, I specifically inquired about shipping, otherwise, I would have taken the bag to Beverly Hills. But the manager promised that the bag would be shipped. No charges were mentioned. However, few weeks later, I receive a call, and was told that my bag is ready for pick up. Furthermore, they would charge me if the bag needs to be shipped. When I expressed my frustrations, the manager Phi Le said:"we already accommodated you, you didn't even purchase the bag here!" I was speechless!
