I stumbled upon this sushi spot before heading to the movies and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm "hello" and immediately noticed the beautiful decor that set the tone for the experience. I decided to sit at the bar and ordered a Mango Cart (my go-to), which was served in a perfectly chilled glass an absolute win in my book. Caleb recommended the crispy tuna and Rob suggested the Fiji salmon. Both were outstanding. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can truly tell these guys love what they do. The hospitality was just as impressive as the food welcoming, attentive and genuine from start to finish. Overall, such a great experience and I'm really glad I stopped in. The ahi tuna tacos were very good, I don't like spicy food so left off the jalapeño but there was also hot sauce I didn't know about, it was just on the edge of being too spicy for me - be aware. The food was very good. We went for happy hour which is half off sushi rolls from 4-7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All the staff we interacted with were very nice. The host did forget the happy hour menu so if you do go between the hours make sure to ask for the menu as they have a lot of sushi rolls at half price. I was worried given the reviews but VERY pleasantly surprised. Went with my daughter, shared five things. All were good, the hardest part is ranking them. My favorite was the sesame garlic tuna tacos, fantastic. Great flavor, lots of fresh tuna sashimi, wonderful. Second was the kimchi beef dumplings, again amazing flavor. The wings were good, nice flavor, good sized portion. My daughter loved the papaya salad and it was a great sized portion. My sister and I decided to stop in for an early dinner on a Saturday because Cheesecake Factory would have been a madhouse and this place had seating immediately. Plus I love sushi, so you can't really go wrong there and Asian is usually a good choice for my sister who is gluten free. Inside the place seemed clean, the only thing I noticed is that my shoes stuck to the floor a little, but that could have been due to too much of whatever cleaner they use on the floor being mixed into the mop water, so I didn't give it much thought. I got the bang bang shrimp roll and the sunset crab. As well as crab Rangoon, that were admittedly delicious. My only complaint is the bang bang shrimp roll is just a California roll will the shrimp sprinkled on top, I had higher expectations than that. My sister ordered a gluten free hibachi, which was listed on their gluten free menu. We were later told that it is not gluten free and should not be listed on their gluten free menu. The kitchen was able to accommodate a hibachi with some changes so that she could still order this. She thought they did a great job with the meal overall. Her only complaint was that they do not have a gluten free white sauce which is generally a pretty standard sauce with hibachi. They also did not have any gluten free soy sauce. They were able to provide a ginger sauce and a Thai chili sauce that worked well but was not the same as having the white sauce. Additionally, if ordering a sweet tea, just note that this comes from their soda fountain machine and is not a fresh brewed tea. This type of sweet tea has a bad after taste and we ended up switching up the beverage. read more

Continues to be a great stop on a bike ride!! Right off the trail, the patio beckons! Had the tuna tacos as a late lunch, and paired with the lemongrass ginger. Everything we tried was full of flavor and delicious but the Crab Rangoon dumplings and wings stole my heart. We ordered: Dark and Peach cocktail Crab Rangoon dumplings Steamed edamame (can add on spicy garlic) Beef & Kimchi dumplings Malaysian chili wings Strawberry spring rolls Pro tip: They also have 1/2 off Sushi every Tues and Thurs The service was not up to par but they recently opened and that is something that can be approved. Different ambience than the Charlotte location--less Asian fusion vibe & more reminiscent of the business that previously occupied the space. But, the commitment to excellent service & well-executed dishes remains the same. I opted for the Drunken Noodles w/ steak & they did not miss. Well-dressed noodles with the right amount of sauce & expertly cooked steak that met my needs for tender, well-seasoned bites. Just all around, didn't like this. The staff is nice, but they don't ever check in. So good luck getting a refill, soy sauce, or your bill. The food is flat out disappointing. The Katsu was over cooked. The rice didn't have enough water when they cooked it. The sushi didn't seem fresh. I ate individual parts of the sushi roll, I know that's weird, but the parts all tasted kind of weird. Their spring (they call it a summer roll) was not good. It was essentially just cabbage in rice paper, you're lucky if you find the protein in it. If you're used to Asian food, don't come here, it's a poor imitation. read more

I loved the food at CO. I ordered the korean bowl, and my friends ordered the spring bowl and hibachi deluxe. They were all delicious, and the portions were quite large- we all had leftovers. The inside is quite cute, no complaints. What knocks this place down was the service. Our server seemed quite nice, but she disappeared for 10 minutes at a time on 3 separate occasions. We were there much longer than anticipated, and overall received poor service(appetizers took 10 minutes to come out, hard to get water refills, was waiting at least 5 minutes for a fork). My boyfriend and I just went here after a long work week, looking forward to a nice night out. All in all, extremely mid experience. This dinner was the vietnamese equivalent of having a pizza where the crust is burnt but the cheese hasn't melted yet. We started off the night with a scene of beautiful decorations and an odd lychee-southern iced tea beverage. We ordered the bao buns, which came out with only two buns. In Chicago last week we ordered bao buns at a five star restaurant that were ten times better and less expensive than these. The pork belly meat here was so tough I could barely bite through it with the bun staying together. I ordered pho (for the first time ever) hoping to try a great new food, and it was absurdly oversalted. On the menu it stated that it came with cilantro, but when it came out there was a small mountain of cilantro on my plate. With even more cilantro on the side! I do like cilantro, but not so much that it's turning the broth of my soup green. My boyfriend ordered the hibachi deluxe, which came out about 20 minutes after my dish. It was alright, definitely better than my dish, but you could get twice the amount of meat for half the price at Hibachi & Co. on Hillsborough St. The service was overall very slow, not much else to say in that regard. Our waitress asked us if we needed the check at the end of the night and when we said yes, she proceeded to go behind the bar and chat with other servers for about 10 minutes before getting our check. My angel of a man still tipped 20%, but we wouldn't recommend going back. For a $70 bill, there are so many better places we could have gone. Save yourself the time and the saltiness. read more

We have passed by this restaurant a few times while in the mall and finally decided to stop in for dinner. We had the fried spring roll appetizer, I had a ramen and my wife had the green papaya salad. All were good and this the spot. The price was also decent for what we got. Honestly, Durham needed a new and great sushi spot, especially at Southpoint. I've had a few others in the area. CO is in a really great location at Southpoint and offers indoor and outdoor seating. They have a variety of Asian dishes and shareable plates. Crab Rangoon was excellent. Definitely not your typical crab rangoon. Prices are very reasonable. First and foremost I am very happy that another restaurant has moved into this space at the streets of Southpoint. More options for that location is great, especially having an Asian fusion place rounds out some of the restaurants in that portion of the mall area. The staff was great, the place was clean and decor was trying to target slightly upscale but casual. The staff was very professional and friendly. The food was mid tier, not bad by any means but also the flavors are a bit subdued all around. Most likely this is deliberate to cater to a larger general customer pallet but dont expect full authenticity here. The poke bowls are designed to target your eye on the menu so I am assuming it is a high profit item but during my time there I heard other patrons giving it compliments so next time I am ordering the ahi poke bowl. My main dish this time was the Korean Rice Bowl, I have done some independent long form reviews of Korean food recently as well as diving into Korean culture this year with a few visits to Korea and making a lot of my own foods (thank you HMart) so I though this would be the most accurate thing for me to try right now. The CO version includes a small amount of marinated steak (lower quality cut which is actually authentic imo but did not have any type of diverse flavor or a protein breakdown you'd expect if it was actually marinated) a sunny side up egg (hard to screw that up and they didn't) Kimchi (not a very strong kimchi but it was actual kimchi) Sprouts, cucumber, pickled carrots (again not really pronounced but they were carrots) and also edamame and (white) Jasmine rice. Edamame is just a fancy word for young soybeans so dont get too excited friends. You can absolutely find better in local restaurants around the triangle. However if you're walking around or live close to Southpoint you could certainly do a lot worse then to go here. A positive for them if the menu isn't going to wow people is that at least the menu is very diverse. They offer sushi rolls (my next visit) as well as rice dishes, poke bowls, noodle dishes and even some Banh Mi. For desert the Crispy Cheesecake Wontons are pretty good and not something I see offered at other places. I was excited that they create their mojito with vodka instead of rum which is also my choice but when I got this it is created from premix and the ratio of ice/soda water was not there causing it to be extremely watered down. Once again staff I interacted with was great. After they talked to the manager though somehow making the drink based off the restaurants method basically meant that the house was right and I didn't know what I was talking about. The bartender didn't say this, he was great but that also doesn't mean the convo he was exposed to was. Friends in management even if you are completely making the drinks exactly based off of what CO wants does not mean they are good drinks or that someone coming in off the street is wrong about them if they send it back. Even just looking at the mint sprinkles in this photo should give an indication of the potential issue here. I promise you that if you put that drink in a lineup with other bars in the area in a blind test it would fail miserably the way it was presented to me. At this point in my life I have had countless versions of mojitos across the USA (dont read too much into that ha) and in multiple other countries. I've worked in food science and also make these things on my own so if I am saying this is one of the worst mojito's I have tried I hope it at least gives the restaurant some thought. I am not a disgruntled customer, didn't care about comping it or anything (which they did anyways and were nice about it). It wouldn't even matter much being a chain restaurant bar if the pricing was more in accord for what you receive. The real issue overall and why this gets a three so far is getting people in the door that don't go to Asian countries, don't go to the little run down Korean family places around NC, don't understand the food, dont get a lot of mixed drinks etc. these people will come here and think the place is great (best case) or at least not know anything specific about why the food and drinks don't taste amazing but for the price they won't come back (worst case). Again my issues are not with the staff at all and more focused on the decisions CO is making. I try to go to places a few times before completely abandoning a review in order to be well rounded. I don't really think a one time stop is enough to be fair so I will be back and hopefully upping the stars. read more

The fried rice was extremely salty, we had to ask for some regular rice so we can dilute the saltiness of it (they should've offered to replace the dish). Our waiter was very friendly and prompt to bring us drinks and take our order. The menu offers a wide variety of flavors and dish options without being overwhelming. For how busy the restaurant was, it didn't take too long for the food to come out. WOW was is good! My spicy garden bowl was just spicy enough and had plenty of vegetables and protein! The flavors were perfectly balanced and the food wasn't too heavy. After our food came out, our waiter didn't check in much and we needed for water, but as I said, they were busy. The green curry consisted of a giant bowl of coconut milk with green curry, and not a good green curry, tossed in and a smattering of vegetables. The menu claims it has zucchini and mixed mushrooms...all I had was bell pepper and bamboo shoots. The Pho was complimented with bone dry chicken and old sad noodles, no doubt cooked hours earlier. Here are my reviews on CO: Service: Disappointingly, the service was very slow though there were not many customers at the time. i had to wait a good 30-40 minutes until my food came out. I only ordered chicken katsu rice and a roll. Food The food was decent. The chicken katsu was a little overcooked for my liking. The super crab roll was good. We ordered the kimchi dumplings, summer rolls and crispy tuna for apps. All of them were really great. For my main I ordered the salmon poke bowl. The mayo type sauce they mix the salmon into could definitely be improved and the amount of salmon left me wanting.. but overall it was ok.
