Molten strawberries with ice cream.
Rosie N.

This was a great spot to get something sweet to drink and eat after the Festibull lights! It's quick and they are so friendly! We got the molten strawberry with hard ice cream instead of whipped cream. It was sweet and tangy! It's never too cold for icecream!

Peanut butter brownie - yum! So delicious and they made it super fast! I will crave this milkshake and need another one really soon!

Perfect spot to grab a sweet treat just steps from the Durham Bulls stadium. They have tons of options to pick from including dairy and nondairy shakes, sundaes and molten chocolate cups. The inside is well lit and has plenty of seating for small or large groups. Super nice staff that greats you right when walk in!

Amazing. If you love milkshake then you need to get a queen burger along with a milkshake

The Milkshake Factory has awesome milkshakes- creamy, cold, and not too sweet! I walked here from a local venue and really appreciated the ambiance inside the store. It fits well with the surrounding shops. I ordered the mint chocolate chip milkshake and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll be back!

This is a cute little place. The inside is bright and inviting. We were greeting upon entering. We wanted non-dairy and they had 4 options for milkshakes: chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and peanut butter. I opted for the peanut butter add chocolate and it was delicious!!! We paid around $18 for two. Nice place to go during the warmer months.

Adorable store with lots to choose from. My son and I were visiting my other son at work and stopped in. I tried the banana cream pie milkshake, and it was amazing! My son got chocolate covered pretzels, which she loved and we got some chocolate bark to take home. Everybody was super friendly and I got to watch my milkshake being made by my kid which is extra special. Milkshake was made quickly!

Cookie Brownie Fudge Milkshake

Legit Milkshake shop in the tobacco road area. I had the cookie brownie fudge Milkshake which was delicious and well mixed (no straw clogging with huge cookie chunks). Seemed like a good place for dessert after a bulls game or DPAC show. They also have sundaes which i will probably get to share next time.

Campfire S'mores

I was craving a milkshake, so what's better than a whole shop dedicated to one? The menu had a ton of different flavors to choose from, so it was difficult to just pick one (first world problems, I know). I settled on the campfire s'mores and it came with a giant s'mores pop. It was absolutely delicious! This place is conveniently located in downtown Durham right next to DPAC. Pro tip: if you're craving dessert after a show, grab a milkshake here to pass the time and let the rush of traffic empty out. I want to try another flavor, so I will be back!

I love milk milkshakes and this place is in a great location and open late. I got the strawberry dipped chocolate and having a chocolate covered strawberry on top was the cherry on top! My least favorite thing about the milkshake was the small choco chips that were a bit too waxy and too many. I would enjoy a smooth delicious treat so may need to try some of the other flavors!

I attended their official grand opening because I was interested to see new additions to the tobacco campus area and how that changes the dynamic of the food scene downtown. This place is a small franchise within a (slightly) larger chain originated out of Pittsburgh. Although relatively new (and certainly to the triangle) there is a fairly deep history written beneath Milkshake Factories incorporation which goes back to a family making chocolates since 1914. Ice cream is of a high quality but primarily this is a franchise that wants to be chocolate first, or at least chocolate equal with various types of chocolate bark, chocolate covered pretzels and others. They will give free chocolate samples if you are undecided. The milkshake selection is still impressive though with something for every member of your group including dairy free options that are legitimately thought out and dessert worthy instead of the typical afterthought dairy free options similar places can have I was told the cappuccino and dairy free was the only one to avoid. One of the signature milkshakes - Chocolate Dipped Strawberry is a great option for a flavor that doesn't get as much love as it should. They also offer several sundaes and a root beer float. All of these options elevate it into more dessert bar status instead of just Milkshakes like the name implies. Location is great for taking the kids over after a bulls game or stopping by after a show at the dpac. They are open late by the way, hours I got from the door at the time of me writing had them open until 12am on Friday and Saturday with 10pm every other day. Staff has been amazing so far and very helpful for people with questions about the menu or anything else. I have no reason to not recommend this to you when you are in downtown! I hope they have plenty of success.

The milkshake factory is a fun addition to downtown! The milkshakes are a little pricey compared to what I'm used to but definitely yummy. I really like their chocolate selection as well. I tried the mint cookies and cream milkshake and some of the different barks

Plethora of Options

I've been wanting to try this spot for quite some time and it did not disappoint. I was greeted with a warm welcome as soon as I walked in and given ample time to make my selection. The staff were vice nice and patient with me as I made my selection. Even letting me know of some of the popular items and fan favorites. I also was able to grab a s'more themed marshmallow which was amazing. One of the nicer ice cream spots in the area with a great atmosphere, I went in as a customer but left feeling like family, great shop!

Heaven in a cup!

I had to give less than 5 stars on the whole. The shake was a 5. Excellent shake; however, I found the pricing to be less than desirable.

I tried a lemon/lime drink that was very tasty and refreshing. The restaurant was super clean. We were seated and orders taken quickly. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Our food was very delicious and flavorful! Portions were perfect- not huge but not too small either. The waiter talked us into dessert since they make some homemade on site. We waited for a bit, and eventually someone approached us, but that was a little annoying. Service after that was fine and relatively fast. Food-wise, I got the Home-style braised tofu and Mango pomelo sago. The tofu had a savory sauce that didn't have a ton of flavor other than braised soy, but did have lots of well-cooked veggies and large tofu pieces. At some point they ran out of rice, and the rice they did give me a lot later was unfortunately overcooked. The mango pomelo sago was really good actually, perfect amount of sweetness, strong mango and pomelo flavors, nice texture from sago. Ambiance is nice. Parking in this area is a little limited. 6.5/10 would maybe recommend.

And it all started way back when being sold from a bicycle that was converted to dispense coffee! My spouse had an Americano and I had the Amalgamation cold brew tea when I saw someone walk by with it. He said it was very tart, but I thought I'd try it anyway. It's Very Heavy on the hibiscus tea, which is all I could taste, in spite of lemongrass, peppermint, orange peel, and cacaco nibs being in it too. I had some honey added, but that wasn't enough to temper the tartness so added some sugar, which only had a little effect. It wasn't until I added some half and half that it became better. That's my taste buds. Anyone else's may be different, but with or without the cream, it's a very pretty drink. We brought the cinnamon roll home to have later, but it smells divine. BTW, I love the small tables. Colorful and very intricately painted.

It's near the college and medical centers so I'm not sure how the parking is. For us, we walked. Location is clean, and the staff was nice. Experience: cookies are super expensive! They literally had menu items - 6 cookies for $26 plus tax! To me, that was disgusting. On top of it, all the cookies were nasty except for the confetti one which was delicious! I am not sure why companies are cutting corners with flavor and keeping the price sky high -but that's what the cookies are giving. For that, I have to give it 3 stars. I can make my own delicious tasting cookies at home so I will do that going forward!

There was no one else in the store, so it was pretty awkward standing there while they avoided eye contact. The store itself has a lot of space inside, but all the chairs & tables are pushed up against the walls so there's a strange open area for people to stand around, I suppose. I did eventually get a cookie, which was okay. It was undercooked in the center, if you're into that. Still, decently overpriced. Unfortunately for me there was also a piece of tape or plastic baked into the bottom of my cookie. Overall very not worth it and will not be back.
