I am all about supporting local business! Visited this cute ice cream shop after having dinner at Cugino Forno across the way. The staff and service was great. There are so many unique flavors to choose from that I couldn't decide so I let the staff choose for me - Strawberry & Honey. It was so light and flavorful, and the upstairs patio was the perfect place to enjoy it!
Ugh the hold that guest flavors at Two Roosters has on me... I've been here a ~couple~ of times since my last review haha - Oct: Red Velvet & Pecan Honeycomb - Nov: Sweet Potato Casserole (forgot to take a pic though)- not too sweet! - Feb: Went for National Breakfast for Ice Cream Day (love that this is a thing haha) & tried their BoBerry Biscuit Sundae with the Frosted Fruity Crunch; y'all this was probably the best thing I've ever had here (the warm biscuit + chilly ice cream + the berry glaze drenching everything = absolute heaven). Took a pint of the Cinnamon Coffee Toast Crunch home & tried Leprechaun's Delight a weeks later. - Mar: Bananas Foster French Toast & Cannoli- probably my least favorite out of the flavors I've tried, but that's not saying much haha. - Apr: Carrot Cake Chocolate Chip (yum! definitely a top guest flavor) & Dairy-Free Fudge Brownie (would never be able to tell it's dairy-free). - May: Mississippi Mud Pie (loved the pecan brownies!) & Strawberry Lemon Pound Cake (wished I got more of the lemon flavor, but still v good). Good service, good ambiance. 10/10, no notes as always.

I always forget this is across from Hi-Wire and am always pleasantly surprised! They always have such unique flavors and I've never had a bad scoop! I had the s'mores and the caramel peanut butter Oreo. Both were so good! I'll def be going back.
I absolutely adore Two Roosters - it's one of my absolute favorite staples in Durham to get ice cream. They have incredible "forever flavors" that never miss a beat and a rotating selection of special flavors which are always fun to try. Bonus that they have a large, free parking lot plus it's right next door to Hi-Wire and Cugino Forno if you're looking to grab a beer or slice of pizza. They have limited seating inside with more space upstairs with tables/chairs on the patio. However, most of the time there's plenty of room to sit outside along the open green area facing the entrance. Staff are friendly and most times I recall they allow you to sample up to 2 flavors. For the month of May, their special flavors are ones created by kids - I tried the key lime pie and caramel PB oreo in a waffle cone. The waffle cone was crispy, and held up very well, though I wish had a touch more saltiness/savoriness which I think always beautifully complements sweetness. - Key Lime Pie: 9/10, sweet and balanced perfectly with the slight tartness of the lime. The mixed-in graham cracker crumbs were so yummy and gave a lovely texture contrast. The base ice cream was on the "drier" side and tended to break off in chunks versus being super creamy/melty if that makes sense. I didn't mind it at all as the flavor was on point. - Caramel PB Oreo - 7.5/10, vanilla base with Oreo cookies and Reese's pieces. As expected, definitely on the sweeter side. It was reminiscent of a McFlurry and was loaded with mix-ins in every bite! If you love add-ins to your ice cream, this one's for you! There was only a bit of caramel throughout which was fine by me as I am not the biggest fan of caramel plus I thought the ice cream was plenty sweet already. The ice cream base in this one was very creamy and smooth.
Friendly service and delicious ice cream! They offer a regular menu, plus rotating monthly flavors. If you love trying lots of new flavors, they offer a flight of 6 scoops that's well-priced.
My sister and I came on a Sunday after a long walk thru Duke Gardens (which is a bit of a drive...don't want to confuse anyone!) They had so many interesting flavors (that change!) that it was very hard to choose which one to pick. The staff was kind and very helpful. We both decided to get a two scoop Sundae...I got the sea salt chip cookie dough and cookies and cream while my sister got the bourbon caramel cookie and cinnamon donut. O. M. G. Every single bite was absolutely delicious. AND!!! We got two ginormous waffle sundaes for $18. Seriously, they were the size of our face! The inside is not much but the weather outside was actually really nice and there is PLENTY of seating out there. Numerous other restaurants are in the area and there are a lot of people & things to watch. She comes to visit twice a year...this will have to be a tradition for at least one of her yearly visits.
Has new monthly flavors that local NC business support and create. It is always busy but service is fast! The flavors are more on the mild side.
Great choice of standard flavors and new flavors every month. Plus they offer an ice cream flight!!!! Everyone was super friendly and the ice cream was so good! Loved the outside area. Definitely a hidden gem!

Two Roosters is such a fun and creative ice cream place with their different monthly flavors. For July, they have a podcast series. I ordered a small cup of Nancy Ray's PB M&M Cookie Dough. It's a vanilla based ice cream with peanut butter m&m cookie dough. I thought I loved cookie dough before, but peanut butter and m&ms mixed in took it to another level. Service was quick and polite. The Durham store was clean with a few tables downstairs. They did have an upstairs area, but I did not venture that way. My husband and I took our ice cream to go and ate near a fire pit right outside the store. There is a parking lot nearby as well with other restaurants and stores in the area. If you're able to go before the podcaster series is up, I highly recommend making your way to Two Roosters. I'm looking forward to what August brings for monthly flavors! read more

All of us were satisfied customers, delicious cookies and cream non-dairy, and I loved the dark chocolate mint chip! This location is great with the open green space for kids to play, we always come here when we visit. read more
We were visiting friends in Durham and after dinner had a hankering for some ice cream. Next door to the restaurant was this place. It's pretty small but the line was long and they had very interesting flavors to choose from. I personally got to try the cinnamon donut ice cream and it was delicious. Sorry for lack of pictures of my ice cream...I guess I ate it too fast. They even had an upstairs seating area and even a deck to enjoy the scenery. Staff was very sweet. Delicious ice cream!!! Fun seasonal flavors did not disappoint. I love the fluffy and smooth texture of the ice cream (not the dense Ben and Jerry ice cream). Plus it's super easy to find parking and plenty of outdoor seatings. Very big scoops! Sadly they do not offer samples. I heard they have flight- didn't see it as an option when I went, but will ask about it next time. A new favorite in Durham! read more

I absolutely love the brick structure with bright colors and a large mural mixed into the decor. The staff was polite and helpful and allowed us to sample several heaping bites before deciding on our ice cream. The flavors were delicious and tailored to perfection. There was just enough mix-ins and soft ice cream base to make for a perfect combo. The waffle cone was crisp and fresh. There is a cute balcony upstairs with seating, though many people sit outside the shop to enjoy the greenery or mingle at HighWire. Perfect location, ample parking, great service. Can't wait to go back and try more flavors! read more
Wow! Talk about super solid ice cream! From the price, quality, quantity, and flavors -- it was a hit. I've heard about "Two Roosters" in the past and finally had a chance to stop by their Durham location for a dessert. I'm loving the vibe of this location. A chill place with nice decor and even a rooftop where you can eat your ice cream. It's October so I had to go with pumpkin spice. It had pieces of cake in the ice cream that just melted in your mouth. Also, I got a scoop of the berry ice cream, the flavor was definitely there. I should've just gotten the small because the medium was quite a lot of ice cream -- enough for two to share in my opinion. The portions and generous and they don't sell you short of your $5-6. Overall, the customer service was great; especially for a late-night ice cream stop. The folks there were kind and helpful. I appreciate it! read more

Tried for the first time and it was so yummy. Got oat milk soft serve with chocolate dip and toffee pits. My bf said he's MVP was pretty rich and he couldn't finish it all. $15 ish for 2 people. read more

Atmosphere: Two Roosters is a cute ice cream shop at Golden Belt. There is seating available on the first floor, second floor, outdoor patio, and the grass lawn outside of the shop. The second floor also has a colorful mural perfect for ice cream pictures! Service: Ordering was easy, and the servers were friendly! Food: We ordered the Roasted Strawberry & Honey and the Salted Caramel Peanut Butter Cup in a cone. These two flavors in particular paired really well since the fruitiness of the Strawberry complemented the savoriness of the Salted Caramel Peanut Butter. The Roasted Strawberry & Honey in particular was very memorable -- we loved the subtle honey flavor mixed in with the classic strawberry ice cream flavor. The Salted Caramel Peanut Butter was sweet and heavy in a good way, filled with fun bites of fudge and peanut butter cups. Overall: Two Roosters is a hidden gem in terms of ice cream in Durham. We love how they have a set of both regular and guest flavors, allowing us to look forward to trying a new flavor each visit. We look forward to being back! read more
Even though we went at the end of the day and several of the flavors were out, we got a flight (six flavors) with most of what we wanted to try. Guiness whoopie pie was fantastic, so was the bourbon coffee. Blackberry hibiscus was a pleasant surprise. The only one that fell short was the cinnamon donut, but everything was creamy and pulled like proper ice cream. read more
A great place to try unique ice cream flavors. If you want to try a lot of their flavors since they don't offer samples, I recommend the ice cream flight for $12 where you get to try 6 flavors. The scoops are definitely big enough to share with 1-2 other people. They do have really unique flavors and execute them well. read more

BEST ICE CREAM IN DURHAM WITH PERFECT INDOOR + OUTDOOR + ROOFTOP ATMOSPHERE. My friends and I would come here every month to try their new rotation of monthly flavors. They're always incredibly creative and always changing. Some of my personal favorites include the Girl Scout Mint, the Chocolate Bourbon, and the Roasted Strawberry & Honey. The texture is always smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. And the staff is always super nice and happy to give samples, whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor. They're committed to using local and sustainable ingredients. Delicious. We got the small cup with one scoop of cinnamon donut and another of sea salt chip cookie dough, both were deliciously creamy. The fun flavors also added chewy and crunchy textures. The Durham location is in this brick building with a nice lawn out front - a lot of people brought their dogs! Overall a great location to enjoy your dessert :) read more
