A really cute small hole in the wall that I wouldn't have known about unless someone had told me. Decided to stop here on a Sunday and it may be a little bit difficult to find parking on some days, but we parked across the street. The store itself is pretty small, but they have a lot of different things to choose from and the variety is really awesome. From putting to ice cream to paletas and mangonadas. I got the banana pudding ice cream which was great. My boyfriend was so excited to see they had Arroz con leche Overall, it's a little bit out of the way for us, but I could definitely see us coming back!
We love little mom and pop shops like this, especially when they offer us new treats from other cultures. I do recall stopping in a long time ago and getting some ice cream, but on this visit, we just got some rice pudding since we weren't exactly hungry. Service was very friendly and thanked us. I'm happy to support immigrant-owned businesses.
Wow, what a great vibe and ice cream. They have so many paletas, ice cream, and other options. I was so tempted to get the mangonada but I got one of their seasonal flavors and it did not disappoint. I wish I could come back here over and over again!
Always a nice place to go for dessert. Got the guava popsicle and a tres leches small cup. I tend to try something different every time I stop by.
Can't believe this is the first time I've been to Pincho Loco! I got a scoop of the Banana Pudding ice cream, which was delicious- perfect amount of banana flavor & loved the soft nilla wafers. Convenient (but easy to miss) location on a corner of 9th St, lots of free parking nearby. Fast service, spacious & nice ambiance. 10/10 would recommend.
Great choices. So many different things to choose from. Fast service. It seems they are Salvadoran . The desserts are amazing. Lots of flavors. Small but lots of seating.
We loved this place! The owner was super friendly and welcomed us immediately, there was no line to order and we didn't feel rushed to make a decision while looking at the menu. He let us sample anything flavor ice cream wanted, including tequila ice cream - that is a MUST try. I'm bummed I don't live in Durham to be eating this ice cream more often, but next time we are in town we'll be there! Ambience was fun and energetic - would recommend for a date night or outing with friends.
Love love love Pincho Loco! Such a cute local spot! The ice cream is super creamy and flavorful. Definitely try the cotton candy. Staff was friendly, and the vibe is fun and welcoming. Perfect for a summer treat or quick dessert stop. I'll be back to try the ice cream cake slices and ice cream cupcakes!
Pincho Loco is a must-visit in Durham! Delicious ice cream with unique Mexican flavors, plus tasty snacks like elotes and chamoy treats. Fun vibe, friendly staff--perfect for a quick sweet (or spicy) fix!
Friends loved the mango sorbet. My personal favorite gelato flavor is pistachio so of course I had to get this. Loved it. It is milky and creamy and decadent. I would definitely come here again after meals on ninth street! The inside is a nostalgic ice cream parlor feel.
A beautiful family-owned shop with unique artsy decor and incredibly kind employees. There are many flavor options and toppings, and even paletas for those who are not in the mood for ice cream. The cappuccino crunch was incredible, and the salted caramel was flavored perfectly. I cannot wait to come back.
Fun family-owned ice cream shop with unique and classic flavours! They were kind to let my partner and I try a few flavours before we landed on our final choices. I had the truffle bourbon scooped in a perfectly crispy waffle cone. Highly recommend!
Pincho_loco is a cute little eclectic hidden gem on 9th St Durham that serves a variety of ice cream, floats, gelato, etc! We ordered: Cappuccino crunch ice cream cone - So creamy! Loved the coffee taste and chocolate chunks. Would come back for this! Coke-float - My friend prefers this over a root beer float! Overall, loved this dessert shop!

It was everything we wanted out of a late-night ice cream run! We got their mango ice & lemon lime sorbet. The lemon lime sorbet was especially delicious. Wish that they had had a vegan ice cream (instead of just vegan ices, popsicles, or sorbets), but what they had was good, so I can't complain too much! Service was fast, the inside was cute, and there's a bench outside to sit on if it's a nice day. read more

The ice cream here is really good! They have some very interesting flavors that I've not seen elsewhere. Also the people working here are super nice. Takes a little while to get through the line, but it's worth it! read more

Great local ice cream shop near Duke University. They highlight different flavors every week, I recommend the cappuccino crunch! I also love that they have pre packed options if you want to take some home. All in all, their ice cream is good quality, the baked goods are homemade, and the owners are super friendly. read more

Love this little dessert shop. The owners are the sweetest people ever. We love the mangonada but also frequently get pints to take home. We got some pints last night and I got the honey roasted peanut butter and it is SO GOOD. Highly recommend the honey roasted peanut butter and mangonadas! The space is small but they have picnic style tables or you can take your ice cream on a stroll down 9th street or the Duke wall. Perfect location. Great ice cream + desserts. read more

Took my daughters to Pincho Loco today, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! I went with the Banana Pudding ice cream--so good--and my daughter loved her Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and personable. We'll definitely be back! read more
Pincho Loco is an eclectic ice cream joint that has that hole-in-the-wall feel with fantastic flavor options that are a great mix between traditional and daring. Their menu is a bit much to take in and is pieced together over multiple boards so it's kind of a fun game to figure out what you want. I ended up getting their Mangonada since I was craving mangos and spice and this hit the spot. It had a good amount of fresh chopped mangos and sorbet with a tamarind chili straw. Very photogenic too! Aside from ice cream, they also have desserts ready to-go such as rice pudding, tres leches, flan, cake, and more! It seems to be one of those places that will have random goodies to choose from based on what they feel like making so check it out! read more

A+ for friendly service from a very genuine cashier. Welcoming and warm, this is the type of interaction you want to have when you treat yourself to deserts. C- minus for Mangonada. First time having this Mexican desert, and was willing to pay the higher rate of $6.99 (the small size) for something new as I hadn't had hot sauce, mango sherbet and mango pieces before or spicy sweet tamarind straw. Looks cool but wayyy too much hot sauce. Had mouthfuls of hot sauce instead of sherbet, and had tough time finishing this one. I also normally like spicy sour sweet flavors like the tamarind (similar to li hing mui), but found this one a bit too salty. When I was finishing my Mangonada some of the flavors blended together and it worked, so there's something there. B- minus for menu. Appreciate the pictures, they help a lot. But could show prices more clearly. I didn't notice it but there might be a paper menu outside to help, as I saw it in someone else's photo. Overall recommend for friendly vibes, and seems like a popular spot. Prices for ice cream and pops seem very reasonable. I do regret spending more for a Mangonada. I can't say I recommend this one, however I support Pincho Loco for offering unique flavors. I wish the ice cream menu did have more beyond the classics, or I would have tried those instead! read more

Great place to grab ice cream! Staff was friendly and selection was great also reasonable too! There was 3 of us as the total was I think $13. I ordered 3 scoops mint chocolate chip, salted caramel truffle and cookies and cream. Husband ordered banana pudding and honey roasted peanut butter. Friend ordered ordered bourbon truffle and apple pie. All were delicious! Definitely coming back here! read more
