Decent gelato (it's on the sweeter and softer side) and tiramisu. They also sell olive oil and cookies. The place is hard to find.

The cheesecake was rich without being too heavy, the pistachio gelato was so good and smooth, and the tiramisu might've been one of the best I've had in a while.

The service is efficient and precise. The ambiance is calm and relaxing with a dent of brown sugar. The ceremonial grade Uji Matcha was the best that I've had outside of Kyoto, hands-down. Additionally, the milk foam on top is perfection, and not too sweet, not too salty, just right. All of the other teeth that I tried were good whether it was fruit tea or green tea. I will definitely return for any of their drinks.l whenever in town.

I was surprised how busy it was when we arrived, but the staff were pleasant and very patient as I struggled with my decision. I originally wanted ice cream but I the size they offered was way larger than I was wanting. My mentee ended up getting the Cookie Monster and she was kind enough to let me taste the ice cream and wow-AMAZING!!! I ended up with a medium sized Thai Tea. I enjoyed that we could watch the ice cream being made-it was cool to see the liquid cream and cookie get mixed together and rolled. I liked that there was both an option for in door and out door seating, over all it was a decent space and experience!

We mixed some old favorites with a few new flavors. The dark chocolate raspberry was SO good. Chocolate lovers, you need to try this one! Our forever favorites are still bakhlawa (with those bakhlawa bites ) and rose pistachio - the rose essence is just perfect, not overpowering at all. Tried one new flavor "UBE" for the first time too. I think it was made with coconut milk and I really liked it! Always fun discovering new favorites. Service was amazing and super patient. They happily let you try different flavors before you pick your final perfect cup which I always appreciate because choosing is hard They even changed up their decor for the February LOVE vibe and updated the menu colors. Super cute touch. They do have milkshakes, but I'm not ready for that many calories in one go yet! Maybe one day when my mind (and cravings) say yes lol.

Flavors are fairly different as well which is also a nice change. Inside is pretty small but there is outdoor seating available at this location. We got the mini flight that comes with six mini scoops and two waffle cone chips. Flavor profiles are on point and ice cream is fairly creamy. My only complain is the serving sizes are small for the price you pay. The quality is good but you don't get much in each scoop. The ice cream sandwiches don't keep their form when you take a bite of it as well.

"Eastern-inspired ice cream and other sweets, next door to La Vaquita in Durham"…read more Stopped by this lovely shop at 7pm on a Saturday evening. The name a little hard to catch, but it's a small greenish building immediately beside La Vaquita on Chapel Hill Road (with the giant cow on the roof). The outdoor area is quite nice, with a fenced outdoor area having swings and other seating/ space for families. We were greeted quite warmly when we arrived. They had maybe ~15 flavors of ice cream or similar (will return to that in a second) as well as other sweets like baklava. But this is not your ordinary ice cream shop-- the flavors were unusual. Cucumber, date, and others caught my eye, but I didn't try those. Unlike one Yelp reviewer's comment, when we went, there was both a regular pistachio as well as a vegan pistachio option. I got something different-- I tried the falooda... a Persian inspired ice-cream-like dish with rose syrup and small cooked noodles. The texture is slightly like an italian ice, but the flavor was great. However, there's more-- on a table off to the side, there were separate lemon and cherry flavors that we were invited to try adding to the falooda. Let me tell you-- either addition turned a good dish into a heavenly dish! Sooooo good. Try it, but only if you're open to "this isn't just ice cream". There were also some wafer cookies to the side we were invited to have with our respective dishes. Seating inside was stools at benches facing a thin window bar-- outside is nicer if you have a big group and/ or if weather is nice, but it was fine. I did stop by the restroom briefly, and it was clean, too. Overall, definitely plan to come back to this eastern-inspired ice cream shop, and I encourage others to give it a try too!

"VERY hole-in-the-wall Middle Eastern patisserie"…read more This gives hole-in-the-wall new meaning. The location is in a strip-mall that's set back a ways from 55, so it's not really visible from the street at all. However, it's weirder than that-- you have to drive AROUND the strip mall to the back, past the various loading docks for other stores, and they you see this place is open just from the BACK of the strip mall. I heard the owner is Algerian, but there are many Palestinian references and flags around the shop, so if that's triggering, then know this in advance before coming in. Still, the place is brightly lit and airy, with tables to eat. They do custom cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts, but we just wanted to sample some sweets. Hours are funny-- just midday Friday through Sunday. We ordered a pecan brownie and a pistachio chocolate dish with kunafa (shredded Middle Eastern pastry), as well as a mocha coffee. The mocha coffee was rich and delicious, as expected. The pistachio chocolate dish with kunafa was to-die-for... SO delicious. Super thick and messy, as you'd hope it would be. And of course the pecan brownie was amazing. I will say the pastries are not "cheap". I got a single tahini chocolate chip cookie to go for a friend, and that was $4.50 for a modest sized cookie. The other dishes above were in the $6 range. But these are unusual custom-made dishes, so it's fair.

I don't speak French, but trying to find this place left me wondering if the name means "receded"…read moreor something like that, because it is hidden away. in the back of a shopping center. Both the atmosphere and the menu are a mix of French and Arabic, so I got a cherry-infused chocolate cake and some sort of cheese and za'atar savory bun, along with a cardamom chai. The chai flavor was interesting, but not altogether strong, while the cake was as delicious as it looked. My cheese pastry was strongly salty, for better or for worse. The price reflects the quality of the food more than the location, let's say, but I was glad I went.
