Goodberry's frozen custard is solid! It is not ice cream, but custard with its own creamy goodness. I love the concept of starting with a base and then getting mixin's. This time I had vanilla custard, berries, and nuts. There are so many possibilities. You can basically go nuts with it and have them create you're own divine dessert creation. Worth a visit! read more

The staff are super nice and funny, I like there rewards system and simple and easy. The custard is AMAZING, I adore there custard. The pricing is super duper fair for what you get. In the photos I share I asked for Cookie Dough and they loaded me up. I love it thanks again. Their pints are super good as well, always call to see what flavors they have available before just going if you have one in mind. read more

Always something with this place. Either it doesn't have enough toppings, or the toppings aren't mixed in, or it is melted. Today was extreme. Picked it up, drove 7 minutes to home. Opened it up, 2/3 liquid, 1/3 mush. But at least they got the toppings right this time. read more

Good frozen custard with mixins. Similar to coldstone only locally owned and a Carolina thing but similar concept with the mixins. You can order one of the options they came up with or prepare your own, with many, many, dozens of options to choose from. Yes it is so good. They are frozen custard, not ice cream. It is good. But there is no indoor seating so you are outside in the heat and it will melt faster than you can eat it. And some of the picnic tables seem designed for very short people so it's hard for a normal height me (5-9 or 5-10) to sit in it. Get the mini. Any other size is way too big and will melt before you can eat it anyway. The mini is 10 oz. That's plenty. More than plenty. Why did I get 18 oz of ice cream? I can't possibly eat all that. Why? And I didn't. But oh well, it was good. The parking lot can be an absolute zoo since it's in between ChickFil-A and Zaxby's so you have a bunch of chicken people going to get their chicken in the drive thru and blocking the parking lot and generally being nuisances. But if you can avoid the maniac chicken lovers, and get your ice cream, it's good. read more

On 08/06/26, I visited Duke University with my family. We were told Goodberry's is really good. At 8:20pm, I called to ask what time they closed and the young lady on the phone stated, "regular time." I asked, "what time is regular time." She sighed and hung up on me. Very disrespectful. Will go to The Parlour instead. Parlour was nice enough to tell us their closing time. read more

This is one of my top 3 brownie sundaes in life. The concretes are great (we did chocolate malt with cookie dough) and lasts in the freezer. A solid go to for a late night craving. I went to Goodberry's on September 12, 2026, and I had an unprofessional experience with the manager there named BREA pronounced "BRAY U". Trying to reach someone at their corporate office (919-870-8780) regarding the incident has been challenging. I sent internal messages through their internal messaging, and I finally reached someone named John (?) who I don't think meant to answer the phone on the morning of September 15, 2026, but he did. He stated he would forward my message, and to date (September 21, 2026), I have not received an internal message, email nor phone call. I am aware their CEO is Henry Braithwaite, and if he reads these reviews I hope he returns my call. I will not be returning to Goodberry's based on the treatment I received, pay for another $10 sundae, when I can go to Wendys, McDonalds, or make it at home. I have share my experience with my friends who all live in this area, and it has been an eye opener for them! read more

I had a taste for Goodberry"s Frozen Custard, I'm happy I fulfilled my desire and went to this particular location to place my order. I thought about online but I like judging my taste buds , along with the service I receive whenever it comes to eating. I didn't know which kind of custard I want , and I asked the server if they would make me a everything cup. The service said I think I know exactly what you want and she started adding a little of this & that as she told me what she was applying. She did said tell me how you like the choices so far and it was entirely my choice to say when. Okay I said when after about five items and omg it was perfectly prepared and the right texture that I recall having during a prior experience. It was a very long time since I had been there and had forgotten the name / mixture of what was previously made. I say go and try getting what your taste is calling and hopefully you'll have a great experience as I did o that hot evening. I even sat there on the bench and smiled. Someone asked me what it was called I told her ask the young lady st the window because she helped me create it. Nice job & great taste. What more can you ask for. read more

As a Californian visiting North Carolina, there's no such thing as too cold for any frozen treat. Despite being the middle of winter, I was craving a sweet treat. There's not many frozen custard places back in California, so I came here after seeing some reviews. Service was quick, but there wasn't anyone out at 9:30 pm on a cold, winter night. I got a single cup of their custard, and it's absolutely yummy! Has the nice richness that comes with custard, very smooth, and too sweet. A single cup = $4.15, which isn't bad at all for a quick sweet treat! There's a good amount of outdoor seating. Had the weather been a little warmer, I wouldn't have minded sitting outside. read more

Goodberry's Frozen Custard - Single Cup - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

We took half of our dinner home in containers to save room for dessert and when I asked Yelp for "frozen custard" in the area, it brought us here on a rainy evening. I had a small vanilla and Mrs. got a small chocolate. "Small" is anything but. I think next time I get the "kiddie" size because this was a lot of custard. Delicious, creamy, perfectly smooth. I should have had a mix-in of some sort to give it some texture but even without, it was a great dessert that we each enjoyed. Goodberry's is my answer if I had to choose one dessert spot in Durham. Their custard recipe has been perfected over the years so that's solid from the start, then they add in really generous amounts of toppings that make their dessert feel substantial but light at the same time. Their ice cream cake was just as dependable as their custards, staff helped me place the order pretty last minute and I was able to customize it exactly the way I wanted. The cake came out with a thick brownie base and a perfect message written on top, highly recommend. Check their website for their daily special flavors, but I always end up going with vanilla. Service here can be kind of slow... just take the time and hang out with whoever you came with. They're hand making your custard in there at their own pace! read more

My family and I eat frozen custard at Goodberry's in Durham at least one time per week. We love the custard, being able to sit outside at the tables with the umbrellas, the water fountain, the Japanese maple trees and the lights, it's just a fun time! Highly recommend this place, would have given it a five star but tables are a little dirty. read more

Atmosphere: Goodberry's is a humble stand that has a window for ordering and a window for pickup. There are some tables in front of the stand to sit at, making it a great place to come with family and friends on a hot summer day. Service: There weren't many people when we went, so we were served promptly, and our custard came out in around 5 minutes. Food: We ordered the Shortcake Sundae. The top of the sundae was very heavy in whipped cream, which initially made it difficult to eat. The vanilla custard itself was decent, but we wouldn't say that there was anything particularly special about Goodberry's custard. However, we enjoyed the shortcake and strawberries, which cut through the sweetness of the custard nicely. Overall: If we could rename Goodberry's, we would name it "Okayberry's." There was a lot of hype surrounding Goodberry's, and we didn't think that their custard lived up to it. The custard was underwhelming, and the entire sundae felt like something we could get at any other chain dessert shop. read more

This Goodberry's is an excellent location sandwiched between a Chic-Fil-A and Zaxbys restaurant. It was quite nice to get a chicken sandwich entree at Chic Fil A and walk two minutes to Goodberry's. I happen to think Chic Fil A has good milkshakes, which are quite thick enough to be ice cream. But Goodberry's definitely draws large crowds on hot days. I have only been to Goodberry's this one time, so I'm thinking there must be something special here. I got the Carolina Concrete in vanilla swirl with the flavor of the day, raspberry (there's a daily chart on the Goodberry's website), in regular size. After a bit of confusion which the cashier clarified, the Carolina Concrete comes with one free topping (of which there are many choices, and some are usually the luxe toppings at other ice cream shops), and anything else is extra $0.85. The raspberry was bright in flavor, and had a nice balance between sweet and tart like fresh raspberries have. I did not taste the vanilla swirl much, but I think that was fine for me. The brownie bits were a good size, but not chunky or small. The raspberry topping was mostly at the bottom--was I supposed to mix it? The texture between the Chic Fil A cookies and cream milkshake I got the other day and Goodberry's Carolina Concrete was a bit similar. Like a soft ice cream. Denser than Wendy's frosty. More whipped than a regular ice cream. I would say the size of Goodberry's regular Carolina Concrete is about the size of a large Wendy's frosty. There's a mini tier below and a larger size above the regular. I think it's a good size, considering the dense but whipped ice cream. Price was about $7 for the regular plus $0.85 for the extra second topping. Certainly still a luxury indulgence, but perhaps the bright flavors and single free topping (and a good topping at that) makes up for the cost. We came at night about 9pm, two hours from closing, and while a few people were ordering, it wasn't much. For us service was friendly and fast with two people at the cashier. I would come again to try the various other flavors. I do think maybe the ice cream is a tad overpriced, by like a dollar or so. But at least there is the larger than average size to make up for it. read more

Soo delicious!! I visited Goodberry for the first time last week, and I wonder why I had not visited sooner. I wanted the strawberry shortcake sundae but my husband wanted something with brownies, do we got their special, which was sand dune sundae with brownie bits. The "sand" is malt powder which really was yummy! It had a caramel, gritty texture, sandy texture and paired well with cold ice cream/custard. I plan on coming back!!! Looking at other reviews, I'm not sure if this was new staff, but I was incredibly disappointed by the service we experienced here. We arrived at 10:20, 40 minutes before closing. Immediately, a staff member told us they were trying to close (really, 40 minutes early?) and as such weren't doing mix-ins. Ok. Understandable, I worked at an ice cream store for a few years so I've been there. Making complicated orders are difficult, especially if you're understaffed and right about to close. But mind you, it's not 10:55, it's 10:20. There are at least 6 staff working. Why the rush? When we do get our orders they look terrible. Ice cream looks like it had been already eaten and half filled. A picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll let our pictures do just that. For the staff. When the store closes at 11, it DOES NOT mean you get off at 11. The role is customer service not being served by customers. I can get your frustration if a line formed at 10:55, but we got there at a reasonable time and got impatient service and pathetic portions. read more

I can't believe I have lived in Durham for 22 years and just now visited Goodberry's. I'll be honest, y'all: it was a Reddit post discussing the best concrete flavor combos that got me there! It was after dinner one summer night when I dragged my husband, kicking and screaming, into the car and onto I-85, and we ventured out of our neighborhood and up to North Durham (or NoDu). This place is no secret- the line stretches to the parking lot and the teens working the counters have this business functioning as a well-oiled machine. Thanks to reddit, I knew what I was going to order my first time at Goodberry's: a concrete with vanilla custard, chocolate chip and raspberry, lightly mixed. My husband got vanilla with cookie dough because he wasn't listening when I read him the reddit post. I loved it! The raspberries were generously scooped and delicious! And despite the line, I got my order in 30 seconds flat. We sat beside the fountain, enjoying the summer evening air, people-watching those authentic NoDu folks, and gazing upon the parking lot of the Zaxby's next door. It was quite a recipe for romance. I'll be back! read more

Goodberry lives up to the name because it's Berry Berry Good custard. Indeed, I really like the custard here. It tastes creamy and delicious and is exactly what I want when I order custard. Unfortunately I had a bad experience the night before when I showed up a few minutes before closing and they refused to serve me and had already switched off their lights. In fact they switched off the lights as I pulled into the parking lot which really annoyed me - I'm sure if they knew I was a Yelp reviewer they wouldn't have done that - but that just makes it worse. However when I came back the service was nice and the portion was generous and the prices are good and most importantly, the creamy delicious custard is, well, creamy and delicious. read more

After hearing so much about Goodberry's, I finally got the chance to try it last week on a hot day. Worth the hype! I ordered a vanilla custard with strawberry and cheesecake mix-ins. Goodberry's is one of my favorite stops for a frozen treat. Their vanilla custard, which you can mix a wide variety of toppings into, is perfectly sweet without being cloyingly so. I love the thick, creamy texture, and I enjoy seeing the custard being made. Personally, I find the mini to be a bit more than I can finish in one sitting, so I definitely think most people will be satisfied with this size (they also have a kid's size which is only four ounces, so half the size of a mini, but you can't mix toppings into it - you can just have them on top). I love all of the fruit toppings which have no syrup or sugar added to them; my husband is a sucker for the Reese's and brownie bits combo. If you want one of their signature flavors, the Better Butterscotch is amazing. Every employee I've encountered at this location has been friendly and efficient. Parking at this location is good and there are about 5 tables and 5 or 6 benches outside to sit at (there is no indoor seating area, and I think this may be true at all locations). For a kid's cup with one topping and a mini vanilla with two toppings, our bill was $9.01. read more

I am so confused. I ordered a "Back to School Sundae, A warm brownie topped with vanilla custard, marshmallow, fudge, crushed Oreos, and whipped cream topped with sprinkles and two cherries". I held the whipped cream. Silly me, I thought the ice cream would be topped with marshmallow cream and hot fudge but no, there appeared to be maybe, 1/2 teaspoon marshmallow cream and no fudge anything So I paid $9 and so many cents for a piece of chocolate brownie topped with three small scoops of ice cream, again topped with a few sprinkles, a few pieces of crushed Oreo-type cookie and 2 small maraschino cherries. Why 5 stars? Why put a Chik-Fil-A next to a Goodberry's? BECAUSE IT WAS MEANT TO BE!! Ever watched The Office?
