This shop is gorgeous, and I was hoping for the best. We skipped our favorite ice cream spot to give it a try. The service is fast and friendly, however the shakes (the hubs and I tried the cookies and cream and the birthday cake shakes) were just ok. Not bad, not great, just right there in the middle where at about halfway through, you toil over whether you should finish it or save your calories. I tapped out early, and I'm a sucker for a cake batter almost anything if that tells you anything. The photo station was a fun touch. The Cary locals appear to be smitten with this place as people piled in after us. For me, MilkShake Factory delivered more aesthetics and stellar location than flavor. You be the judge. Cheers!

So in all honesty most of my excitement for this place is based around a simple yet awesome event that took place. Went in after eating down the street with a couple friends as when we passed we all realized we wanted something sweet. However, we were also quite full so we decided we'd just get a single milkshake and split it. We ordered one and without us even saying anything the worker asked "would you like to split that?" A bit confused I asked what she meant and she explained they can split the drink, into small cups, just the same amount split into multiple small cups. It was absolutely perfect, and it wasn't simply just poured into small cups, they were adorned like a full size shake (whipped cream and garnish and all), at no additional cost! Absolutely love this offering and it seems so obvious everybody should be doing this now. It's so simple but honeslty made all of ours day. Because sometimes you want just a little bit, and I understand not selling that small of a size but if I'm ordering a large one to split, pre splitting it into multiple cups is fantastic. Ok now to quickly review the rest. The interior space was large, plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. The decor was quite nice, clean and modern while maintaining a fun character. The case was full of incredible looking treats from chocolates to stroopwaffels and the milkshake options were plentiful with something for everybody. The one we ended up getting was a tad on the sweeter side imo but that also may just be the flavor we got (was still quite good). The prices were a tad leaning towards the higher side but still reasonable, and the service was incredibly friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend and will likely return.

I was in Carey attending a conference at Chatham Station. When I got into my car to leave directly in front of me was the milkshake factory. I got out of my car and went in because of milkshake sounded perfect. I ended up getting white chocolate raspberry, which is not something I typically would choose, but I am so glad that I did. The people who work there were so kind they quickly made my milkshake and they even had a Photo Booth for selfies for when my milkshake was ready. The ambience was very everything was white and bright. I live a couple of hours away, but that's probably a good thing because if I lived any closer, I would be in trouble going to the milkshake factory so often.

Bottom line: The Milkshake Factory in downtown Cary made a Cookie Dough Fudge shake for me that was delicious. Nice clean shop that was well staffed that evening. Plenty of milkshake choices as well as other chocolates/candies to choose and enjoy, also having non-dairy items on their menu. Not the cheapest shake but worth it for me this trip. The Deets: After dinner one night out in downtown Cary, we decided to hit MilkShake Factory. It had been forever since I had a proper milkshake and with the heat outside lately, it seemed like the perfect time to try these guys out. Upon entering, the shop is very bright, clean, and nice but very few tables for enjoying there. They were well staffed on this weekend and the display case was full of goodies to peruse such as candies and chocolates among others. But what I was interested in was a good milkshake...eye on the prize. The menu on the wall showed all their possible combinations/offerings for such milkshake creations and I went with the Cookie Dough Fudge (semi-sweet chocolate chip cookie dough with melted fudge). Do note that the menu does even have non-dairy choices in case you want to go that route for your treat. But let's get back to my milkshake...it was made in good time and looked delicious when I received it (pic taken). Sight did not disappoint, as I have to say that this milkshake was one of the best I've had. Maybe it had been far too long between milkshakes but I really enjoyed it. The consistency did not fade away in the heat walking around and chocolate chip cookie dough is one of my favorite flavors. The shake had plenty of cookie dough chunks in it without being too much to enjoy the cool tasty shake itself, with just enough fudge added to make it interesting. I enjoyed this cool treat on a hot evening and definitely would visit these guys again. Was it the cheapest milkshake around? Nope. But it was worth it in my opinion.

We've been to the MilkShake factory twice now. The first time we shared a mint cookies & cream milkshake, which was phenomenal. It was minty and creamy with cookie crumbles. The second time we tried the chocolate dipped strawberry. I'd say the mint cookies & cream is better than the chocolate dipped strawberry. Sadly, there's no nutritional information available on their website, only allergen information. It would be nice to see all the ingredients. The MilkShake Factory is a delicious new option in downtown Cary. We'll be visiting again when we want a special treat.

    |Overview + Great selection of milkshakes to choose from + Chocolate Raspberry Truffle is amazing + Fantastic location in downtown Cary, NC + Friendly customer service - Despite most shakes being priced at over $8, their sizes are small - Not a big fan of its open-window ambiance | Review The Pittsburgh-based Milkshake Factory franchise is expanding all over America, and after it opened its first NC location in Durham last summer, a new one in downtown Cary just opened 3 weeks ago, so my girl & I decided to try. Most of the milkshakes in the menu cost around $8+ with a the more premium ones costing $9+ to $10+. We looked at the menu outside and based on the photos on the menu, there's a great variety of different milkshakes to choose from. Milkshake Factory has 4 Signature Shakes: Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Chocolatier, Cookie Jar & Campfire Smore's. Based on the photos, these premium drinks are loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted fudge & other sweet toppings, depending on which milkshake you get. The rest in the menu are 10 Gourmet Shakes, 4 Classic Shakes & 4 "Not Shakes" (sundaes). There are also premium chocolates, and all their sweets are housemade. We decided to order 1 of the Gourmet Shakes: The Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, which is a delicious blend of dark cocoa, semi-sweet chocolate chips, raspberry puree & melted fudge. A small piece of chocolate is placed on top of the whip cream. As expected, the milkshake we shared tasted rich & sweet; the raspberry puree went well with the cocoa flavors, and there's a good amount of fudge that filled the sides of the cup. As a long-time milkshake enjoyer, I'm used to the kind you get from restaurants that serve some of the milkshake in the glass and the remaining ones in a tin cup. The amount of milkshake you get from that is enjoyable. Sadly, Milkshake Factory's shakes are quite small despite most of them being priced at $8+, and there are no bigger size options for those who prefer a taller cup. There's a tin can in the photo of the Chocolate Dipped Strawberry in the menu, but that looks misleading as that -and any of their milkshakes- are not served that way. How can it be called "Milkshake Factory" when it can't even "manufacture" a monster milkshake? Nonetheless, despite the lack of a real monster shake or a classic tin can-sized serving, Milkshake Factory is a master of blending just the right amount of ice cream, milk & mixed-ins that go well together to make a creamy and delicious milkshake that will make you forget the cheap kind of milkshakes you can get from Cook Out, Dairy Queen, or any other restaurant. Customer service here was excellent. There were two servers when we went, and they were both friendly and answered my questions about the milkshakes and the franchise clearly. 1 of the servers, Zack, was a gentleman. He prepared the milkshake order fast and served with care. When our order was ready, Zack called for me to pick up the milkshake from the counter. My girl & I sat on one of the few tables in Milkshake Factory's open ambiance with clean spaces, bright lights and white walls. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the open-window layout, which seems to be common for dessert shops. It's not necessarily a good or bad thing; it's just not an ideal place to chill. Maybe I'm just used to the more inviting ambiance of some milk tea cafes. At this point, I've only tried 1 kind of milkshake in Milkshake Factory, so I'll likely share a follow-up review focusing on another milkshake or 2. Right now, I'm just delighted that we have a new sweet reason to revisit the developing downtown Cary. | Overall Score: 4.4/5

On a visit to Cary by my sister in law she decided that she wanted a milkshake, so a quick google map search led me to this wonderful place. The service was great and choices abundant as well as dairy free options for my lactose intolerant wife. The shop is clean, bright and airy with outdoor options. Definitely a nice place to have an indulgent experience.

Lots of other chocolate goodies too!

I'm not a fan of milk shakes but when I checked out their menu, we had to make a trip there after dinner. I was very impressed by the friendly & excellent service. The store décor reminds me of an ice cream factory that I've visited in Ohio...very clean and simple. The stars are the shakes (& the strawberry shortcake sundae too!)! Peanut butter brownie sundae was decadently rich! If you like peanut butter, this is amazing! The chocolate dipped strawberry shake had nice bits of strawberries and chocolate chips mixed in with a chocolate swirl and a fresh berry on top. This definitely had me hooked! I usually don't like shakes because it's usually artificial tasting, too sweet & leaves a funky dairy aftertaste. This shake had none of that. It tasted of fresh berries & was just the right sweetness. Best of all, it didn't have that aftertaste. The strawberry shortcake sundae was excellent too with vanilla bean ice cream & a chunky strawberry sauce. This will definitely be a haunt! Looking forward to trying other flavors!

Great, lofty space...and nicely decorated throughout. Now comes all the disappointments. First of all, I was the one customer when I stopped in around 2:30 pm...and while the place itself was nice, it felt kind of stale. Total silence...no music. I also noticed that they changed things...for the worse. They no longer had on the menu this trio sampler that I had my heart set on. Also, I didn't find their drink menu that appetizing. Also, everything was now served in paper cartons...not actual plates and cups. This is a running pet peeve of mine. Since Covid, many cafes and bakeries have downscaled on cups, plates and utensils...to serve everything in cheap to-go wares. I expect that type of vibe at fast foods, like McDonald's and Taco Bell...not nice cafes and bakeries. I ordered this soupy dessert (forgot the name), along with this Crepe Cake, and this Mango Fruity drink. Truly, each and every item was forgettable. Just not that good. Then the service... dead-pan. The lady at the counter had this rude-cold demeanor, and did not flick even a slight smile even once. So yeah...NOT great all around. Aside from the place being so attractive, the foods, the presentation and the service was far below what you'd expect from a nice cafe-bakery. A huge disappointment.

Ironically, I went here because I rarely get out to eat and the service has always been consistent. 1. There was no one at the cash register and an employee who was just about to go on break took my order. He was polite enough but I found out later that he put in the wrong order. 2. There were no tables that I saw that were wiped off. Some had the dishes removed but I needed to wipe off a table. 3. A cockroach scrambled across the floor near my table to the left of the coffee station. I wish I was joking, or seeing things but I wasn't the only person who saw it. One of the female employees went toward it and stepped on it but since it was headed toward my table, I moved. 4. It was really hot in there. Maybe not AC completely broken hot, but AC on the struggle bus hot. There was a large fan in the back dining room that wasn't doing much of anything except redistributing humidity. 5. I ordered an avocado toast with bacon and got delivered a grilled cheese sandwich. The server took it back but then I needed to ask for the bacon. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture because the same dish on Sunday was so elaborate and beautifully presented and the same order today was just meh. Not a good value for the price. I will say the server correcting someone else's mistake was clearly overwhelmed but doing her best. She was also the cockroach killer. I ate my lunch and read my book. My intention had been to linger a while and read but I decided to leave. The place was about 1/4 full when I left but all the tables still had crumbs, food debris and water on them made it too unpleasant to stick around. Very disappointing. I don't see myself going back any time soon. I do love their bread but I'm sure I can find someplace more pleasant or go to the downtown location instead.
