Have been wanting to check this place out for awhile so was excited to go with a friend last week…read more Overall, it was a great experience and I think it's one of the best dining options in park circle. The menu was a bit confusing overall - everything is family style and ordered for the table and brought out in courses. I'm usually a big fan of family style except their menu was a little hard to tell what was 1st, 2nd and main course. Since it was just 2 of us we ordered 4 items and it was plenty of food. We started with the cornbread and I will say - literally the best cornbread I've ever had in my life. Not exaggerating, I would eat a full meal of just this cornbread. Then we got the pork dumplings which were great - they did have a tiny bit of spice so be cognizant of that if you're super sensitive. Then we got the Dan Dan Noodles, they were a bit underwhelming to me - they sounded better than they actually were and for the price, it really seems to be bare minimum noodle / meat. Lastly we got the Karrage chicken which was a fried chicken bite with a lemon sauce. The chicken was very tough and over fried which made it tough to eat. The service was wonderful and the waitress was super helpful in helping us understand the menu and recommending items for us to try!

I'd have to say our waitress was average. The restaurant is small but cozy. My only complaint is that they charge a 3% Service Charge for Employee Perks. This IS disclosed on their website but I don't feel this should be charged to customers. I tipped a little less because of this.

I was with a larger group so we ordered lots of things off the menu. Our waitress was excellent and she was able to answer a lot of questions for us, specially about the spice levels and amount of food to order. The pork dumplings and the Hong Kong noodles were the standouts for me. The sweet and sour fish cheeks were good, but I didn't get much sweet or sour. The crab fried rice was different as well, very interesting with the crab gravy. We had a couple of cocktails that aren't pictured because we sucked those bad boys down. They were really good. Overall, nothing was bad but I wasn't blown away.

The dumplings with the chili sauce...Major Yes!! My favorite was the burger. The combination of the burger with the phơ was amazing!! He was running lunch on his own and somehow managed to be incredibly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu without ever making us feel rushed. And the food was every bit as good as the service. We ordered two of the house specialties -- the OG Garlic Noodles and General Gerry's Chicken -- and shared both. The two of us finished everything. We were completely full and still couldn't stop eating because it was just that delicious. Sometimes the places you stumble upon end up being the best finds. Pink Bellies was definitely one of those. They did have ample parking which was nice. We could tell right off the bat that this place was something extra as it was completely packed and stayed that way. There is no take out or delivery because the owner wants you to taste his food fresh out of the kitchen. Since the word Bar is in the name we had to of course indulge in a few cocktails. My wife tried the Endserenading with wasabi infused tequila, guava, lime with a freeze-dried lime and guava pearls. Not only did it taste light and fruity, but it also looked inviting, I tried the Winners Never Quit jasmine tea infused bourbon and yuzu sake which was also flavorful and playfully decorated with a leaf cloths pinned to the rim. We decided to try the koji focaccia with whipped miso butter. All I can say is wow! Light, warm and so pillowy fluffy. We said we were not going to fill up on bread, but it was too good to not finish! They offer three kinds of Karaage, so we tried all three. The Classic had a nice spice profile and was a generous portion. The Kewpie Japanese mayo added extra depth. The Evil truly lived up to its name as when you start to eat it you feel nothing and then you get hit with a freight train of back heat! Super spicy but still tasty, nonetheless. Be sure to have a cold beverage on hand. Our favorite though was the Snow cheese with a special cheese power. It was a delight with the cheese slightly melting into the crispy skin for a satisfying bite. His go to Ramen is the shoyu ramen with light chicken broth, dashi, green onion, chashu, bamboo shoots, and an egg, The broth is steeped a full 24 hours, and you can tell when you taste it. All the ingredients are cooked to perfection with the egg yolk being nice and gooey, but the broth will have you coming back again and again. I could not put it down. Possibly the best I have had so far. The vibe is funky, the staff is super friendly, and the food will win over your heart!

We started with a couple cocktails and handful of appetizers to share. Hunter was wonderful and took great care of us. Koji foccacia was excellent, but just a bit TOO salty. Texture and flavors were spot on, but the batch we got in some bites had just too much salt. The pickled Woodear mushrooms were so tasty, we got some rice and seaweed to wrap it up and altogether was delicious! Curry potatoes very flavorful and on point. Of course we couldn't decide so we tried all 3 karaage - classic, evil (BEWARE it's ) and snow cheese. All very different but very good. That evil one lingers in your mouth for a bit! My friend got the shoyu ramen that they're known for and I got the miso because I enjoy a creamier broth. Both had distinctive flavors but tasty overall. Hunter convinced us to try the red bean crème brûlée that he concocted himself so we had to! Ooooweee that thing was delicious! Who knew red bean would go so well with it, the flavors and textures complimented one another. We had a really nice time here and will definitely come back!

My server, Michael, had me seated…read moreright away and, when I asked for recommendations, demonstrated an impressive familiarity with the menu. On his suggestion, I ordered the Steak Chimichurri Taco and The Hangover. Each was distinctive enough to deserve its own mention. The steak in the Steak Chimichurri Taco was exceptionally tender and full of flavor. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the toppings complemented the beef rather than competing with it. The goat cheese was just assertive enough to stand out without overpowering the other ingredients, creating a layered, well-balanced bite that kept me coming back for another. The Hangover was equally memorable--and completely unexpected. Had I actually read the menu instead of putting my trust in Michael, I probably wouldn't have been quite as surprised. Fortunately, I did, because his recommendation was spot on. Once again, I was treated to a wonderful balance of flavors and textures. And there's something undeniably satisfying about seeing a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg crowning a taco. FOOD - 10:10 Michael struck exactly the right balance between being attentive and giving me space to enjoy my meal. He knew the menu well, answered my questions confidently, and his recommendations couldn't have been better. SERVICE - 10:10 The atmosphere was every bit as enjoyable as the food. The music was at the perfect volume, the playlist fit the space well, and the lighting was bright enough to feel welcoming without being harsh. It's the kind of place where you could comfortably have a business lunch just as easily as a date night. AMBIANCE - 10:10 Will I be back? Absolutely. If you haven't been here yet, I'd suggest making this your next excuse to treat yourself. Bon appétit.

We were seated at 8:26 PM, and at the time there were maybe 10 other parties in the restaurant. We placed our orders immediately since we already knew our usual orders. After that, our waitress never checked back in with us. As the wait continued, we noticed multiple tables that had been seated after us receiving their food. We eventually had to flag down our waitress and ask how much longer our food would be. Her response was simply, "I have no clue," before walking away for about 10 minutes. After we had been sitting there for an hour, she finally returned and told us that our food order had never been put in. There was no apology or acknowledgment that we had just spent an hour waiting for food that was never being prepared. Instead, she asked us what we had ordered again and said, "I don't know what you want me to do, you saw me put the order in, it was a technological error." We then learned that the same thing had happened to two other parties. When we asked why there had been no follow-up on any of the missing orders during that hour, her only response was, "Okay." Mistakes and technology issues happen, and I completely understand that. What made the experience so frustrating was the complete lack of communication, attentiveness, accountability, or even a basic apology. A simple check-in at any point during that hour would likely have caught the issue much sooner. Even after the mistake was discovered, an apology and an attempt to make the situation right would have gone a long way. As someone who comes here regularly and has always enjoyed it, tonight was extremely disappointing. I genuinely hope management addresses both what happened and, more importantly, how the situation was handled so other customers don't have the same experience.

Gotta say: the meal I had tonight at the Locals off of Folly Road on James Island was AWESOME! Despite having bought some fresh flounder and scallops at Crosby's earlier today (something I'll be cooking at home tomorrow night without fail), I decided I was in the mood for sushi...and Locals was the closest option to where we live. Anyway, I ended up ordering the Tabago roll (5 stars), the Pacific roll (4 stars), the pepper tuna nigiri (which is flash seared - 5 stars) and salmon nigiri (5 stars). I'll freely admit: I've got bigger eyes than stomach, so I had a hard time finishing it all...but it was such a great experience! Oh, I'll also point out that the bartender (Giulia) was so great! So personable and helpful and timely when checking in. The atmosphere here is also great. It's like a sports bar, tucked away to where youd easily miss it if you were driving by. In summary, this place is awesome. The food is awesome. The service: awesome. I don't give out 5 stars very often, but this place earned it. Thanks, Locals for a great experience!
