I was pleasantly surprised by the food at CO. We started off the meal with the pork and ginger gyoza, which was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce that accompanied them was great. For my main entree, I ordered the traditional beef pho. I have had authentic pho at a small, Vietnamese-owned and operated pho shop in Philadelphia, so my standards are pretty high for pho. I was scared about trying it, but I was really happy with the flavor. It was slightly different, but just as delicious and I finished the entire bowl. The only critiques I have are price and size. The price was very steep for pho that only had four pieces of meat. The size was also a little too small for my liking. Although, what lacked in size and price, made up for in taste. I would definitely return and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Thai food. read more

Happy hour specials are great! Highly recommend visiting during this time to sample a few different things and to enjoy the drinks. The space is a bit crowded (at least downstairs) and the music is pretty loud. We had a very friendly and helpful server, though the girl that brought the food over looked completely miserable every time she visited our table (as well as the people at the bar behind us...so it didn't seem to be anything personal!) read more

I've come here for happy hour in the past, and thought the food was good (though with fairly small portions) during happy hour time. This time I came here with some friends for late lunch/early dinner. The service was horrible and it took over an hour for us to actually get our food. I was pretty sure they had forgotten about us since our neighbors who sat down after us got their food earlier. For the food itself, I had ordered the beef pho, and it was the least authentic pho I've had. Pho is all about the broth, and this broth just tasted super salty. One of my other friends ordered the same dish and she agreed that it was probably one of the worst pho that she had. My other friend ordered a curry dish, which he seemed to enjoy. read more

We have visited the location in Savannah and were excited to find this location. CO in Savannah really did a great job and CO Charleston did not disappoint. The only thing lacking in Chucktown was the sushi menu. When you see the size of this location you will understand. It is SMALL!! The food however was spot on. We loved the gyoza dumplings. Ordered the Pork Gyoza as well as the Kimchee Gyoza. My partner had the Pho Ga which was better in flavor than what we can get back home. I had the Vietnamese Ramen. It is served with a poached egg and when I sliced through the yolk, it seductively seeped into the broth to create this indescribable fusion. I love this soup. Pork belly, Napa cabbage and perfectly cooked Ramen. read more

The Curry Laksa brought me back to memories of a home cooked dinner I once had at a Malaysian family's house. Balanced seasoning, rich flavor and a more than generous portion. That was the day. At night the cocktails are indeed well crafted to keep up with the best. The only nag I have: I came 30 minutes after opening (early I know) and had to look around and find my way upstairs to get a waiter. They were all still folding napkins which I understand (been in the same position) but it did not help that they all stared at me as if I were interrupting their conversation. read more

Ordered takeout and....Genuinely never been more let down by a bowl of pho. There was no flavor whatsoever in the Pho Bowl with Rare beef. It was almost like they added broth and forgot all of the spices that go into pho that give it that nice gingery herbal smell and taste. The noodles were like a brick in the togo box accompanied by the 12 bean sprouts and next to no basil/cilantro - which I tried to add for flavor. Did not help at all. Edamame was good, a little too much salt. Won't be going back :( read more

Didn't even get to eat. My husband and I are were on a road trip back to Florida. We had driven 5 and half hours to stay the night in Charleston and arrived around 9:50pm. We didn't want to go to a loud place since it's late on a Saturday in college town because we were tired so we decided on CO. We walked in and were told to have a seat wherever by the blonde bar tender. We sat at the bar thinking it would be fast service. She didn't even wipe the counter or ask for our drink order. The counter was soaked and had food crumbs all over it so my husband wiped it off with napkins. The Bartender disappeared for about 10 minutes after we had already been sitting there waiting to put our order in so we left. Also wanted to add we weren't sure about the parking situation so we asked her if we needed to pay and she said "I don't know I just work here and I don't drive". Horrible service!!!!!!!! read more

This has become our Sunday evening go to. King Street on a Sunday eve is less busy as the shoppers leave and Co is the perfect cozy little spot to go to. Big bowls of steaming curry soups or crisp fresh salads are my favorites- especially the Viet Names Chicken Salad. Great place! Definitely on the pricey side, there are a lot of Vietnamese places that are cheaper around the area if you're trying to save some money, but this place has a really cool vibe, and the food is delicious! Decorated nicely, there's an upstairs but we went a little after lunch so it was blocked off. Recommend if you're going on a date or are willing to invest in a nice place! Also PORTIONS ARE HUGE I got the pad Thai and 100% could have split it with someone read more

I am always looking for a place with good Pho or Ramen and when you are in Charleston that is something hard to come by. Coming from the DC area (asian noodles galore!) I was disappointed to find that this awesome foodie city was lacking in the asian noodle area. I am so happy that CO exists because I was having some withdrawals here for a hot minute. We ordered: pork & ginger gyoza spicy crab rangoon pork belly buns beef pho vietnamese ramen A little bit of everything, and definitely extremely filling. Everything was delicious and fresh. The only complaint and probably a very unpopular opinion is my thoughts on their 'pork belly'; I want more crispy juicy fat on my pork belly, not straight up meat! In reality can't complain much because this is a business and you gotta please the masses, right? read more

The food was yummo! Visited Charleston and ate southern cooking and seafood until the last night.. and this restaurant was a good change. The pork buns were a great starter.. they serve two per order so i got one fried and one steamed.. both were good! For my entree i had the vietnamese ramen.. pork belly with a poached egg, egg noodles and bok choy.. delicious. My wife had the curry soup which had shrimp and chicken.. noodles were much thicker and the soup had a good kick to it. My only complaint was the service. It seeemed like our waitress was running around with her head cut off. We sat at our table for 45 minutes before i got my iced coffee. Good thing the food was worth it! read more

I moved to Charleston a few months ago, and this is my go to spot! The food is seriously delicious. The Green Papaya Salad is SO good! I like to go sit at the bar and chat with the fantastic staff. Natalie, the manager, feels like a buddy now, she is so on top of that place. Delilah, the bar tender, makes great suggestions and is just a doll. I would highly suggest this place! I will be eating there again this weekend. read more

I'm don't even know if the food was good because no one even said hello to us. There were three of us that went in on a Monday afternoon. Maybe that's when they put their worst staff on? I'm not sure, but there were full or dirty tables everywhere. The staff didn't know what to do. The bartender didn't even look at us after sitting there for awhile. The manager pointed at a dirty table for us to sit at. I mean it just seems like they don't have their shit together at all. complete chaos. Just don't. read more

Co is a vietnamese/thai restaurant conveniently located on King st. I was here during restaurant week and was able to choose 3 courses for $20! With the course I was able to get potstickers, a vietnamese chicken salad and a curry laska. The potstickers from here are very tasty but a bit small... but I do have to say that the vietnamese chicken salad was absolutely delicious! It was the perfect portion with plenty of chicken in every bite. Moving on to the main dish...the curry laska was good, however, the noodles were kinda chopped up and it was really hard to eat... I had a hard time trying to dish up the noodles with my chopsticks and my spoon. I probably wouldn't get the curry laska if I'm back and to try the pad thai instead because that looked better. The food did take forever to come out though...it was definitely more than 30 minutes and the restaurant was not that busy. read more

Great little place when you are in the mood for something other than southern fare. Go try the pho.

I went here and exclusively tried the vegan options- and for those looking for flavorful, well done tofu options- this is your place! Also, if you are hesitant about tofu (understandable) this is a good place to try it! For vegans and vegetarians (and gluten free folks) come here to enjoy well done vegan options and actually having choices!!! I tried to tofu buns, vegan spring rolls, and tofu bahn mi (sandwich). All of which seem like pretty standard fare on a menu, but were stand out in that everything was awesome- nothing was forgettable or mediocre. It was flavorful, hot, and came with a great sauce! Also, the portions were impressively big for the entrees. Buns came in sets of three but were filling so don't let the number dissuade you. I know, you're not convinced... tofu is the last thing most people crave, but the buns were sooo good- with a perfectly soft bun, crisped couldn't just enough on the outside, with flavorful sauce. The banh mi was extremely filling and it's sauce had a kick that kept me eating until it was all gone. For those who have no interest in tofu, I will say my dining companion got the server's recommendation of the curry laksa and said she literally could go on eating it forever. She's a foodie who spend a year eating in NYC so this is no small praise. I especially love when servers can give firm recommendations that turn out to be absolute winners! Especially since she gave several options with the curry laksa being her most highly praised. So, if you are in the mood for Vietnamese- you can't go wrong here. Between my dining companion and I we tried five different options (three appetizers and two main dishes) and were thrilled with all of them. Also a nice trendy atmosphere! Was happy with the entire experience! read more

I've been to CO a handful of times. I've come to the conclusion that for me, this is a happy hour only place since they have pretty good drink and food specials (they're $5 signature cocktails have never let me down). Their happy hour is from 3-6pm weekdays. I have no idea who's going to happy hour at 3pm on a weekday but whoever that is, wanna switch jobs? As far as the food goes, I've never been that impressed. All of it's been pretty standard. Nothing bad but nothing amazing. If I see pork buns on a menu, I will order them. Sadly, I'm not in love with CO's buns. I like for the bread to be soft and pillowy so I love a steamed bun. CO goes with a toasted bun which ends up being a little hard and crispy. I realize different places do things differently but I'm just not a fan of an overly crispy bun. I like soft buns and I cannot lie. You other brothas can't deny... Also, the one time I tried their desserts, it was such a let down that I just don't even look at them anymore. We ordered the only two desserts on the menu, both mousses and both had weird consistencies and flavor combinations. We didn't finish either and this coming from the girl that licks every last drop of cake batter from the bowl. read more

Co, will you marry me? You're beautiful, you're tasty, you're spicy, you're the only one for me! Co and I met just before happy hour ended, and we squeezed in an order of $4 tofu buns, curry shrimp, and a few drinks. The drinks were ok (CO guava mimosa and a whiskey ginger(a little overpriced if you're not there for happy hour)), but the appetizers were both absolutely delicious. I could have eaten 20 tofu buns and it was difficult to keep myself from licking the curry shrimp plate. Our entrees took a bit long, but the waitress was super apologetic and she eased our pain with a couple more drinks on the house....We liked her. I ordered the curry laksa which was a huge bowl of lovely, tasty, flavorful things. In fact, I just finished reminiscing with my leftovers. Anyways, I'm all googly eyed for Co now, Charleston needed a place just like this! read more

Tried Co last night after a grueling Yelp search to find the best Pho-serving-restaurant in Charleston. I chose Co because of it was extremely close in vicinity (King st, near Calhoun) and the other yelp reviews were pretty good. Plus my mom was paying and the menu looked a bit pricey (12-13 bucks for beef pho), so I thought this was a prime opportunity to capitalize. There is something about Pho that I find irresistible... it has a hearty, salty, brothy, homey quality that makes you say "mmmm"..... and I love that you can personalize with the little sides it comes with. But I HATE getting Pho that's not good for whatever reason; it seems like it would be impossible to screw up! I had extremely mediocre Pho at Octo Bachi, which is also downtown, so if you are choosing between the two definitely choose Co... it really delivered. We arrived in time for happy hour, so we got $4 glasses of wine and tried the pickled vegetables as an appetizer. They were absolutely delicious (carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers and cabbage) although they were out of Kimchi. I would definitely recommend them as a light and "healthy" way to start your meal. I ordered the Beef Pho, while my mom got the Spicy Beef Ramen, and both were wonderful and hot. I loved that the beef was definitely rare/raw when it entered my broth, so it maintained its tender quality throughout the meal. My mom's soup was interesting, as it had also had potatoes and carrots... something a little different. I took a star away because I wasn't fond of the atmosphere. They dimmed the lights really low at around 7, and it was a little annoying... and the super trendy "family seating" as others have mentioned seemed unnecessary and cramped. OH also ask for their hot sauces, they make them on site, and the Vietnamese style siracha was very very good; we were informed you can purchase them if you like. read more

CO has a chic industrial atmosphere that fits seamlessly into the King Street feel of downtown Charleston. There is a generously-sized bar downstairs and ample space for dining upstairs. I love the exposed brick walls and black and red color scheme; it's a great mix of contemporary and modern. Their lunch/dinner menu has a variety of options from small to large meals with vegetarian dishes too. The drink menu offers a range of sakes and specialty cocktails. You must try the House Coconut Shot - it's only $3 and so yummy! I would definitely recommend the Vietnamese Chicken Salad and Beef Pho Broth Noodles. The servers have always been very knowledgeable of the menu and offer recommendations, which is really helpful if you're not familiar with Vietnamese food. I would encourage college students, young professionals and edgy tourists to visit CO. read more

O.M.G.!! So good! Better than Basil. & Basil was quite good! I had the pad thai and my hubby had the spice beef pho, both were really good, and not all that spicy. My hubby even added the spice sauce that he was given, and it still didn't make it all too spicy. Good environment. I loved the upstairs décor. The bar area has really nice looking seating as well. I loved the big table downstairs, great for a big party! Will be returning!! read more

I love Co. It's consistent, delicious, and fresh. Great happy hour specials (bar only), and they even have a loyalty program where you can earn free food, which is pretty rare nowadays. I usually get a few of the small plates as a meal: pork gyoza and shrimp curry are two of my favorites. The Banh Mi is solid (Bon Banh Mi's bread is way better though), and so is the pho. I also love that they have one of my favorite beers ON DRAFT: Victory Golden Monkey. Woot! There are two things that keep me from giving a 5 star review. First, the service is often times very slow. 5 out of 6 times, I end up on the verge of a Hanger Attack (so hungry I'm angry) when I'm there. I think it's because they take a LONG time. The second thing is their lack of specials. The first few times you go, it's not a problem. However, their menu is not huge, so it'd be nice to have some surprises for regulars to choose from to switch it up. The chefs are very talented so I'm sure they could come up with something great. I'll definitely be back though. I have free dumplings to earn!! read more

Oh CO, how I love Yo! This place just makes me smile. I have a love affair with their dumplings. I don't know how else to put it. We met about 8 months ago and it's been a roller coaster of emotions. Everything happened so fast - it was love at first bite! It's been a crazy relationship full of lust, passion, desire, giggles, great table conversations (little known fact - dumplings are great listeners), and secrets shared. I haven't found a better dumpling in Charleston. Their noodle dishes are also fantastic. The portion sizes are excellent and absolutely delicious. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the seating bothers me. It can get a little tight at some of the community tables. My name is Ryan K and I'm in love with dumplings. I don't care who knows it! read more

I ate here for the first time on a Tuesday night & ended up going back Friday. The food is fresh & to die for! I didn't have a single bad thing and still crave more! This is the only meal I had in Charleston that was flat out disgusting. The ramen noodles all came out in one big hunk, I could not even separate them. The waitress brought me new ones, but they were the same. If you've ever had authentic ramen, you will be very disappointed. The broth is basically chicken broth. Now the really disgusting part: one of the employees who was handling food was visible eating chicken wings with his bare hands and then handling food with the same bare hands. Gross! The people next to me pointed it out to me, and they actually got up and left. With so many great dining choices in Charleston, pass this one up!!!!!! read more

The service was pretty bad. Sat for around 20 minutes before anyone brought us water or took an order. Overall we were there for about two hours due to slow service and messed up orders. We ate a lot of the menu The beef kimchi dumplings and crab Rangoon were great. Also ordered the pork gyoZa but they were out. Would've been fine if they had told us before they brought the rest of the appetizers out. Tofu and pork belly buns weren't great. The pork belly was pretty chewy. The spicy pho was good, good balance of spices. The ramen was pretty good flavor wise but the noodles weren't cooked. Again the pork belly was chewy. Green curry was a big serving a yummy curry. Overall food was decent, service was not good. read more

CO is a cute, trendy restaurant with a great atmosphere/vibe and delicious food. We ordered sparkling sake, the pork & ginger gyoza, pork belly bun, pho dac biet, and the spicy udon. While all the food was impressive, the spicy udon was absolutely my favorite - flavorful, sticky sauced-noodles with a generous complement of vegetables and meat. While the appetizer servings were on the small side, they more than made up for it with the entrees, which we were hard pressed to finish! A good value for the price, especially given the quality and flavor of the food. For dessert we tried the fried cheesecake bites, which was the only disappointment - the cheesecake interior was completely melted and hot (not very appetizing). I don't know how they prepare it currently, but it would be much better if prepped like fried ice cream - frozen solid prior to breading & frying, so that the interior is still firm and cool upon serving. The service was pretty average based on how busy the restaurant was; we sat upstairs, which I imagine slows the service a bit considering that the kitchen is downstairs (though there is a POS station for checkout, and a drink station upstairs). Overall, very much enjoyed the food and would return again! read more
