Delicious authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a cozy, family owned and operated restaurant in Chinatown. Nothing fancy or pretentious. Place is bright and clean with polite service from the family.

I think this is Ottawa's SECOND best Pho. But it's truly a great little Somerset gem. Caesar is an awesome server. Super friendly and loves to talk. His Mom (or aunt or grandma) is typical Viet old lady - not friendly...super curt and a bit rude. But to the food: Pho is delicious. Broth is fragrant and flavourful. Only comes in one size - take it or leave it. Grilled meats with egg over rice is delightful. And the Banh Mi are amazing. To go and only $3. Who the fuck would go to Subway when you can get 3 of these for the same price? Small place so don't expect to always find a seat.

Highly recommended!! Co Cham is a hidden gem located in Ottawa's Chinatown! Got there around noon over the Victoria Day long weekend and the place filled up pretty quickly. We ordered 3 dishes and shared them among 4 people: 1. Grilled Pork+ Shredded Pork + Fried Egg + Rice 2. Spring Rolls + Vermicelli 3. Rare Beef Pho The portion was huge and the food was so delicious! My favourite dish was the Spring Rolls + Vermicelli. The spring rolls were deep fried and were really crispy. The fish sauce was lacking a bit of flavor though so I kept asking for more to go with the vermicelli. We left the restaurant with full bellies! :)

Assorted meat banh mi $3 (buy 5 get 1 free).

Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) at Co Cham are great. They are $3 each and if you buy 5 you get 1 free. The banh mi are for takeout only, you can't eat in if you're just having banh mi. There aren't many places that sell banh mi in Ottawa. Co Cham is the best so far. I will go back sometime to try their other food.

Grilled chicken, beef and pork over rice for under $10. Oh yeah!

Co Cham represents what I love in inexpensive Vietnamese food. Rice, noodles, basically anything you want to order off the menu that is delicious! It's all that folks and then some! I've dined here on five different occasions now and each time I've left highly satisfied and with a full tummy. The bun vermicelli's are outstanding! The phõ soups are equally as delicious. The spring rolls fresh and fried and large and in charge. We ate here just recently and the matriarch of the family was very nice to my family wishing us happy new year on many occasions. It's a family owned and operated restaurant. Outstanding. Come check it out. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

This is a super cute family owned restaurant. A little small and cozy for size but nice interior for a Vietnamese restaurant. Very clean and tidy. The dishes are all under 10$ which is nice on the wallet. I go here for the rice dishes!! Number 26: grilled beef and chicken on rice is my absolute fav. It's 9$ and is such a comforting dish. The chicken is always cooked to perfection - thinly sliced but still juicy -- and the beef is just as good! Both are packed with flavor. This dish is ever so simple but is just so good every time. Bun Bo Hue: special noodle bowl form the Hue province. I really like the broth in this noodle soup -- its just slightly spicy in a beef broth - I do however prefer it with rice noodles so I do always swap out the noodles that it does come with (typically thicker and more cylinder shaped noodles instead of the flatter thinner rice noodle) Also ordered a vietnamese iced coffee: bold, smooth and strong with the slight sweetness of condense milk. You should definitely try vietnamese coffee if you haven't yet! Sandwiches : Your average vietnamese sub - nothing too special. I've yet to try the vermicelli dishes or pho here.

    Pho with rare beef!

I found the pho here just ok. It lacked depth of flavours that other places have, and was a bit too salty. Their sandwiches are pretty average, I wish they could improve on the flavour to be more similar to ones in Toronto. Ottawa's pho game is strong, but not so much our Vietnamese sandwiches. Service is very friendly and quite quick though!

    Delicious appetizers!

The place was very steady but we got one of the few remaining tables. The menu has a lot on it and there is another, separate menu for specials. The complimentary herbal tea was nice and hot for a very cold day. Ordered was a pho for me, extra spicy and my friend got a beef and veg dish and they subbed her noodles for rice upon her request and accommodated her peanut allergy. The food was good, also. I ordered us shrimp spring rolls to start, 2 to an order. Very good. $6. The entrees... My broth was nice, albeit mild. Not that clovey taste I've experienced at other places. My pho had shrimp, beef and chicken. It was a house specialty so it only came in a medium size. This was fine as I ordered extra noodles for $2.50 to go and had some at home for dinner tonight. And, it will feed me for lunch one more time tomorrow. The containers were leak proof and the liquid survived the drive home. The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive and kind. Said to be family owned and that everything is homemade. I'll return! I love Vietnamese food and love supporting these places. I will avoid weekends though as I was told people are lined up at the door for seating. Was it the best I have ever had? No but it fit the bill and I'm glad I live close by as there are 100 other dishes I'd like to try.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. A somewhat small restaurant but still had a few tables of patrons at that time. The staff were nice. Plenty of parking.

While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

It was good compared to others I've tried but still missing a flavor in the broth. Service was quick. The guy who gave us the menus handed us with a paper to write down our order but didn't speak which was fine because we understood what we had to do. Everything was cooked as we ordered and the vegetable spring rolls were amazing and piping hot when they came out. We couldn't even eat/touch them until our main dishes came out. They were also quick to refill our waters as well. Interestingly enough, the guy who handed us our menus actually finally spoke perfect English when we went to pay. This was a good local spot which consist of actual Vietnamese owners/cooks. There was also a group of Vietnamese ladies who were definitely regulars.

The beef was really tender and flavourful. I did get a fatty and gristley piece though :( but on the most part, the beef was lean. The chicken was lean and a tiny bit dry, but still flavourful a tasty. The shrimp were medium sized and ok. Not that plump nor juicy, but for the price, not surprising. The spring roll was mostly wrapper and too oily for my liking. The rice dish came with fresh cucumbers and pickled radishes and pickled carrots. The vermicelli dish came with shredded lettuce and bean sprouts, which were underneath the vermicelli. It also came with pickled carrots and crushed peanuts. The fresh vegetables were fresh and the picked vegetables had a good sour bite to them. We also got a tub of fish sauce, which neither of us like, but my dad does, so I saved it and gave it to him on the weekend when I went to see my parents. I appreciated that they labelled the fish sauce with a warning to open slowly (with a smiley face, lol). Food is packed in styrofoam, which is not my preference for environmental and health reasons. Service was very courteous and efficient. I was told it would be 25 minutes. I returned in 22 minutes and they were just tying up the bag. Perfect timing! Note that the prices on their takeout menu (pictured) are outdated. My dishes were listed as $9.50 each on the menu, but I was charged $11.75, which is still a great deal. Prices have gone up as a result of the Covid Pandemic, so I get it. I would just suggest that they print new takeout menus. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path in Chinatown. Street parking only.
