I was extremely disappointed with this service. They advertise that they have tools to disassemble furniture, but in reality they aren't equipped to handle anything more complicated than Ikea furniture. They gave up on moving my couch after they couldn't figure out how to get it through the door, and they CHARGED ME for the time they spent failing to figure it out. They tried to pressure me into signing away liability so they could take risky moves with the couch. And when that didn't work they just gave up, leaving me to hire another service. Their movers are unprofessional and inexperienced. It takes more than the ability to carry a box to be a mover. Their inexperience turned what should have been a small move into an 8-hour ordeal. I had all my stuff packed and laid out for them to simply carry, but every time I would check on their progress I was shocked at how little they managed to get done. After all of this, their proposed resolution was a credit to my account, as if I would ever use their services again. The process of working with customer service to reach a real resolution might have even been more frustrating than the move itself. They don't put their customer service number on their website for a reason, it seems. Getting them on the phone to discuss my issues was near impossible, but all the while they kept sending emails saying my customer service issue was solved and asking me to rate the experience. You're better off going with an established company, rather than these cute little startups that trap you with easy online setup. DO NOT BE FOOLED. read more

One star feels generous here but for the sake of being able to write a review there it is. I cannot emphasize enough the thorough disappointment and frustration that my wife and I are experiencing right now on behalf of Clutter. We had done our research and saw enough good reviews that we decided the extra cost would be worth the convenience they advertised, but that has not played out. Looking into the services that Clutter offered we saw that we could use them for a long haul move from SF to San Diego. We wanted to schedule for our items to be picked up and put in storage on 9/2, then on September 30th moved into our new home in SD. I spoke with a customer rep on the phone and confirmed multiple times that this service is offered, and we would have no problem booking both the storage and the move. However, we would not be able to book the moving piece until after out items were stored. I emphasized that we'd be on our honeymoon for the better part of September, and that we're moving into our new house the day we get back, needing delivery on that day. They understood and assured us that would be ok. Clutter picked up our items and put them into storage on 9/2. On 9/4 I went to book the appointment to have our items dropped off on the 30th and couldn't book the appointment. I called customer support and had to speak to three different reps but eventually got to the bottom of it, which is that Clutter no longer offers long distance hauling. Apparently, this was only on offer as a "trial period." When I made the initial booking there was no mention of this trial period or any indication that they may not be able to deliver our items. They also understood that we would be away on honeymoon for most of September, so were relying completely on Clutter to help us get our stuff to San Diego when we returned. Now it feels like we fell victim to a predatory bait and switch, especially given our situation. We would have moved everything into storage ourselves and saved the expense (not cheap at all) had we known this would be the outcome. Keep in mind we are no longer in the Bay Area and will not be able to return until mid-October earliest. Aside from that we wouldn't be able to go get our things ourselves anyways as we're required to hire a third-party company to go to the warehouse on our behalf. This is something we're working to coordinate last minute before we go abroad, with no help from Clutter whatsoever. Let me be clear that their website still advertises long distance moving, and would likely let you book under this pretense, so please be careful. The most help we've been offered is $25 in credit and that we could file a claim. The claim will be responded to in 5-7 business days which is essentially useless since we're leaving in a week and need to have this sorted out well before then. Customer support can't offer any meaningful help and my gut tells me that the claims process won't leave us with anything to make us feel better about the situation. Do not use this company for anything related to your move. read more

This review is for my pickup on 8/7 with Greg! Overall, awesome experience with Greg. He arrived on time and I wasn't even 100% sure what I wanted to store but Greg was super patient and friendly. A lot of care was given to my items in terms of being wrapped and packed safely and Greg also took the time to maximize space in boxes to make sure I got the most value for my storage unit Customer care leading up to the pickup was very helpful at answering all my questions, too. I had a lot of concerns as I was in the middle of a move and downsizing to a smaller space, and customer support was easy to talk to, keeping the decision making during this time stress free. Thanks Greg and Clutter read more

My movers were great but the company and customer service are HORRIBLE. I originally signed up for a 4 month lease when I booked the moving appt, during my pickup appt I asked to switch to 8 month rate because I realized right after I booked it I would prob be using it for longer than four months. they said no, which is fine. fast forward to today I've been using it for 8 months now and asked for the 8 month rate to use it for another 8 months, and they said no. SUGGESTED I could MOVE ALL MY STUFF OUT AND THEN MOVE IT RIGHT BACK IN IN ORDER TO GET THE 8 MONTH RATE... OBVIOUSLY THAT MAKES NO FREAKING SENSE... really shows me that this company doesnt give a crap about their customers lol. SO FREAKING ILLOGICAL its unbelievable. will now need to move all my stuff to my moms house otherwise im paying like 2k total to store stuff that isnt even worth 2k read more

Initially my experience with clutter was not pleasant... I had to wait for my crew to "arrive" for 3hrs. My original crew didn't even show. They had to send another crew to help instead. Despite the delay, I'll still give the service a 5 star, here's why: Abraham Sampior, Sebastian Hernandez, and Javier Casillas was very understanding of our frustration and took the extra steps to ensure our pick up was smooth. They did a great job of walking us through the entire process from photo records, to repackaging my items (corner covers, carpet covers, A LOT of shrink wraps & tape), to the warehousing & pricing structure to ensure that we maximized our storage plan with minimal costs. Watching the entire process in front of me was very impressive. I'm confident that my furniture and belongings are in good hands. Thank you guys!! Stay safe and happy holidays!!! read more

This review is just for the delivery portion of my moving/storage experience with Clutter. Everything went super smoothly. The team who moved my 30 odd boxes in less than an hour were friendly and efficient. The only reason I deducted a star was for misinformation I received from the automated texting service, which informed me around 6:40am that my team had begun driving, and would arrive in an hour or so. About 20 minutes later, they were 13 minutes away. Maybe their gps didn't account for traffic changes, and I shouldn't expect it to, but a a result, I arrived to the site 10 minutes after they did. They were super chill about it though, and the move itself went great. They even reassembled my bed without my asking them to. I'm happy with this side of my clutter experience. Part 2: My second delivery of items to my home went quickly and smoothly. I don't recall the guys on the team, but I've attached a photo of them. Part 3: I had my last bunch of boxes delivered to my art studio today. The ability to split up my belongings and have them delivered in different trips to different locations is a service I very much appreciate about Clutter. As with my other delivery experiences with Clutter, the team was punctual, friendly and fast. I had Vicente, Najee and Antonio for this job, and they were great. The ONLY thing that caused me some stress was again, the timing of the text updates. The window I chose for my delivery service was 8am-11am, and while I am grateful for Clutter's punctuality, I am someone who values every minute I can get asleep in bed, so when I received a text at 6:00 am that my team was in their way, it was a bit disconcerting. They called me at 7:50 to let me know they had arrived. It's great to be early, but when there is a 3 hour window, I appreciate having some flexibility within that timeframe. Each time this has happened, however, and I've met the team 10-20 minutes after they arrive, they haven't been put out in the slightest by it. Luckily, all of my deliveries took under an hour, so even with my lateness, we were well inside the allotted window of time. I don't know how scheduling works with these teams doing multiple jobs in one trip, but if each client is given a 3 hr window during which they can expect the team to arrive and complete the job, it would be great if there was something like a 30 minute grace period for the client to meet the Clutter team. Perhaps this could be offered if deliveries are under a certain size-- 15 boxes or less, for example-- so the completion of the job within that timeframe would be guaranteed, even with a slight delay at the start. Just a thought! Other than this small detail, I have been very satisfied with the storage and delivery aspects of my Clutter experience. read more

Clutter is by far the worst moving company I have ever interacted with, hands down. I have moved many times, and Clutter takes the cake as #1 worst mover. First, they never told me that they do NOT ship items in storage outside of the San Francisco area. I had to have another moving company come to their storage unit, pick up my stuff, and ship it again. Very costly, very misleading! Second, they lost two of my boxes (with all of my bedding and pillows), and completely shattered my TV screen. I called them multiple times and emailed with Kendall on their Trust & Safety team. They would not hear my requests and denied my claims multiple times. They will not even hear my side, nor review my case. Instead, they just deny my claims, even though I purchased $1,000 worth of moving insurance from them before our move. TLDR: DO NOT USE CLUTTER! Save your money, your time, and your sanity and use another moving company. read more

I generally don't write negative reviews but this was one of the worst moving experiences we've had and we've moved several times in the past 2 years, even from LA to SJ. We used their services to move out of our apartment on 9/30, then stored our stuff with them while we stayed in an Airbnb to wait for our house to be ready. To start, they broke our $2800 brand new TV. They also broke furniture and other items while moving and storing my stuff. I emphasized they be extremely careful with the very expensive 65" OLED LG TV, but alas, when I unpacked I found a break in the glass and the TV not functional. They did a really poor job of packing and storing the item, as they only did bubble wrap and put it in a cardboard box. The tv was free to move inside the box as there was nothing to cushion the space. This was not the only frustrating thing. While they were packing my items to move into storage, they dropped 4 boxes. One of which had my photos and frames and all the glass broke. One had an artwork that I bought and the canvas tore. This box was not reimbursed when I filed the claim because I did not let Clutter pack it. BUT, there was another box which Clutter did pack. And it had lamps and when it fell off the truck, the lamps broke as well. Then when I received my items, I found 2 furniture items, broken--I believe one was the item that fell, but another one was broken mysteriously as well. These two were packed by Clutter--so much for that I haven't opened all my boxes yet, but I'm sure I'll find more items broken. Besides broken items, they disassembled our dining table but didn't tape the screws to the table and now they're missing so we have to go buy screws to put the table back together. Their business model is also really stressful--they charge you $65 per hour per mover, and the send some of the slowest movers! There was one guy--Troy--who was in my bathroom for 45 minutes! And of course I got charged for that. My husband had to help move and pack because we didn't want to be charged way too much--for what turned out to be really shitty service. And then they take their time wrapping everything and over taping everything--and they still BREAK THINGS! I recommend everyone not to use this service. It sounds like a great idea, it sounds convenient and affordable, but it's been a nightmare for my family to have so many broken items and such poor service. They hire inexperienced movers and they expect to be paid at such a high rate and still move really expensive items. Avoid at all cost! I recommend use other services and self store for your items. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THEM. I wish if I could upload some pictures so you all could see the amount of my things that Clutter cause me to lose. Their storage facility is rat infested and hot. My blood pressure cuff melted. My bag disintegrated. I was seeing this power residue and it was my bag. A lot of my clothes faded on each other because of high temperature in the storage. Oh my gush, there was rat shi! for days. You should see rat shi! ! My kitchen things, clothes, books, papers, kids toys, etc all had to be thrown away because of rat shi!, mold, and discoloration. They said to put a claim in. Ok, the way the set the claim up is for you to find a store online that list your item for the price and if you cannot find the item they will only pay you $1 for your item. Yes! You heard that correctly. And, on top of that they charge you over 400.00 to remove your things from the storage, even if you go get them yourself. And, do not forget that is over 400.00 plus the monthly payments that they were deducting. Those high reviews are either payed, self reviews, or not real customers. Oh, the rats did not just lived and shi!!ed in my thing but they also had a feast on whatever, clothes, shoes, bags... whatever. Oh, my shoes and leather coat gone. The heat did a number on those. My boxspring and mattress both had large what looks like water strain on them. As, I unboxed my things I couldn't stop crying. I will be calling the news to also report so they can film those rat shi! and my loses. This is freak nasty, disappointing, waste of money, upsetting, and taking advantage of people. read more

I used Clutter for a long distance move from San Francisco to Chicago and was extremely pleased with how it went. I had them pack up all my belongings, drive them cross country, and then unload them. They gave me a 1 hour window when they were to arrive both for packing and unpacking, and they were on time both times. The packers were very slow, but without even asking, Clutter reimbursed me for $500 of the packing charges. The unpackers were super fast and skilled. If yelp can allow negative rating, I will give negative -5 stars. I ordered the service a week before and I even paid for to setup the pick up time, 11am-2pm. I got a message a day before that the pick up time will be pushed to 1am-4pm. Received a message on the morning of pick up day to confirm the pick up time. Few hours later, received another message saying the pick up is on the way and I can track the location of the team. Whenever I check the location, the pick up time is always pushed back from 4:05pm to 5:05pm, or 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Finally a call from Clutter later in the day and let me know that no one will be here to pick up. She said they can have someone to pick up few days later. I told her the I need to move anything out today and I'm okay to wait until later at night. I told her if they can't make it, they should let me know earlier and not the last minute. Absolute worst customer experience again and again! First we were not able to get our belongings out for weeks after we moved and found a place. It took getting a message directly to the CEO to get us in the schedule! Then the boxes they "shipped" arrived and all my dishes and photos and lamps were broken. We filed a claim and they did not care - no reimburement, nothing. To top it off we paid to have some of our boxes shipped on April 3rd for a ground delivery of 2-4 days. They charged us immediately and had no problem taking our money. It's April 11th and they still have not shipped the boxes and "don't know when they will be getting to it". This is a lesson on how you treat customers poorly and don't deliver on a service you sell. Truly will never use or recommend Clutter to anyone ever!!!! I used clutter for the third time today to help me organize my life, updating the size of my storage space, which was still about $40 lower than the cheapest storage unit near me. Also, the hassle of having to keep going back-and-forth to check on things has really taken a load off my mind. Because of Clutter's online advice, FAQs, and pre-visit verification, I have always had everything prepped and labeled. Robert and Nicholas had 13 odd sized boxes out of my house and in their truck in 16 minutes. They went over everything to make sure it was securely wrapped, labeling my boxes with Clutter's barcodes, and fragile stickers where needed. Lastly, they took pictures for my online files and advised me of exact square footage used by the current load. Seriously, Clutter Storage provides a great worry free service that I have highly recommended to family and friends. read more

I used Clutter for an office move out. We don't have a plan to open another office in the Bay Area for some time, so I was looking for a team to take care of everything-- packing, moving, and storage. The process for booking was simple and straightforward. The only downside of the experience is that I wish I could have easily talked with someone from the Clutter team beforehand just to get a better sense of how they operate. I called the phone number listed on the site, and had trouble reaching anyone. That was the only downside to using them. On the day of the move, the team arrived on time and was very friendly.
