I later validated with a plumber friend that emergency plumbing work is just expensive, so the $520 doesn't sound too outrageous. I'm pretty unhappy with how Clove handled my situation. Long story short - we had a leak from our shower, clove rep came to fix it, then after mold remediation was already done we saw that it was still leaking, clove rep came back to fix it again, then I saw that where the leak was repaired again there were complete gaps between the shower wall and wall itself (as pictured) so water would have come spilling into the walls, then they came back to fix again. The part though that really bothers me is that, after all this, they also took my baseboard from the wall. No idea what they did with it. I called asking where it was and they never called me back. I'm now having to spend more money to get a custom baseboard created to match the rest of the room. I don't enjoy not supporting local businesses, but the fact that I'm now having to spend more money because of the baseboard being taken instead of this being compensated for is the reason I'm posting this. The final cost ended up higher than what we originally negotiated. During the discussion, Juan made uncomfortable comments about me working on my laptop while he was working on the pipes, which felt entirely unprofessional given the situation. When we hesitated on the new price, it was suggested that the project might have to be left as-is with the pipes open for a few days while he attended to other customers. I am writing to share my recent experience with Juan's services. I contacted him to replace the internal components of two leaking toilets based on his positive reviews. While he arrived promptly, I was disappointed by the initial bid of $800. The necessary parts cost approximately $40 per toilet, and the labor should not have taken more than an hour. It appeared that unnecessary repairs were being added to the estimate, such as replacing a brand-new supply line. I had issues with my garbage disposal leaking all of a sudden late at night and although it wasn't a total emergency, Juan responded within 5 minutes. He was able to schedule an appt the very next morning, came on time, and diagnosed the issue. He had to replace the garbage disposal. He left to purchase the new one and replaced it and tested everything to ensure it worked. He even was able to clear the hose of the air gap for my dishwasher to ensure it would drain into the sink instead of draining into my counter, which has occurred twice already. I pointed it out to him (no troubleshooting required) it took him 1 hour, maybe 1.5 being generous. He said the price was $620! I thought he was joking at first. Juan was awesome. We had an emergency situation where our shower cartridge was stuck open and the only way was to turn off the water main throughout the house.
