VIN 48 is in Avon, just down the road from Vail Village and close to where we were staying in our…read moreAirbnb. After some deliberation about where to go for dinner, we landed here, and I'm very glad we did. It has a nice upscale feel without being over the top, and the menu has great options that really prioritize locally sourced ingredients like meats and veggies. To start, we split the smoked trout dip, which came with voodoo chips. It was a great combination with good flavor, and it wasn't over the top smoky. We also had the artisanal cheese plate with toasted baguettes, three kinds of cheese, and three kinds of jam to try. There was one cow's milk cheese and two goat cheeses, and the jams were great. For my main, I had the pan-seared Colorado striped bass, which was delicious and light. It was served over a sweet corn risotto with baby zucchini and a tomato jam, and the combination of flavors was fantastic. The sweet corn risotto was great, the zucchini was solid, and the tomato jam was quite interesting and added a fun element to the dish. For dessert, we were debating between the carrot cake and the chocolate mousse. We were eating with a vegetarian and noticed the carrot cake had something that was fried in beef tallow (indicated on the menu), so we happily went with the chocolate mousse on our waiter's recommendation, and it was elite. It was about half a tennis ball in size, with a hard chocolate shell on the outside and an espresso-flavored cream around it, kind of like a whipped cream texture, plus some toasted caramel toppings. My sister said it might be the best chocolate mousse she's had. We also had two glasses of Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, which paired great with our meal. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area.

I had never had it before but it was so crispy and delicious with the honey on top. The mushroom risotto was just okay, but I love mushroom risotto so I can be kinda picky about it. The ambiance was perfect & the broccolini with ricotta was another thing that stood out.

One of my favorites in Breck!…read more Love a place with great cocktails and a great menu with clear and accurate descriptions of the preparations and dietary restrictions! Who could want more? Our server was friendly and engaging but NOT overbearing nor intrusive. She also made excellent recommendations and understood the task of ensuring dietary needs were met but something tells me that starts in kitchen, not the restaurant floor/tables. Our party of four shared three appetizers and a daily special salad before entrees. All were creative and delicious! Our entrees exceeded expectations. Two had the signature burger and loved it. Two had the trout The risotto could have used a tiny bit more flavor but for one in our party who couldn't finish it, reheated the trout and artichokes the next day for breakfast and still raved about the delightful flavors! recommend.

BRECKENRIDGE EATS | AURUM FOOD & WINE…read more Some restaurants are worth returning to, and Aurum Food & Wine is one of my favorite places to dine whenever I'm in Breckenridge! First, let's talk about the aesthetics! The warm, inviting interior combines rich wood tones, metal accents, and rustic-chic decor to create an atmosphere that feels both cozy and elevated. It's the perfect mountain-town dining experience. Aurum specializes in innovative New American, farm-to-table cuisine, creative cocktails, craft beer, and a wine list that's uniquely organized by music genres. Such a fun touch! HAPPY HOUR | DAILY 4-6 PM Aurum has a fantastic happy hour menu that's definitely worth checking out. Unfortunately, I missed the cutoff this visit, but there's always next time! WHAT I ORDERED: The Baby Greens & Kale Salad with added steak. Sometimes a fresh, hearty salad is exactly what you're craving, and this was my choice for the evening. THE PICKY B TAKE: Aurum continues to be one of my go-to restaurants in Breckenridge. Between the beautiful atmosphere, thoughtfully curated menu, and inviting mountain-town charm, it's a place I genuinely enjoy returning to.
