My wife and I would frequently visit Cloud Cafe and the food was always great. We just visited today and to our surprise the old owners sold and it is under new ownership. However, fear not loyal patrons, as the food choices have not changed and somehow it's even better! The croissants are fresher, the eggs are fluffier, and the steamed omelet still tastes amazing. They also have expanded their menu and now offer more lunch options like yummy sandwiches. Hats off to Sam and his partner. They have enhanced an already great place for the better! When I talk to people about the Cloud Café, I often hear it described as a "hidden gem," "best kept secret in Orange County," "quaint," and "cozy." The family-owned café opened in 2015 on the second floor of a medical building at El Toro and Muirlands. In 2019, it was moved to 23352 El Toro Road, gaining better visibility. The onset of COVID-19 in 2020 was challenging for this beloved café. Despite the stress, the family-owned restaurant managed to survive and continues to serve its valued customers. Upon arrival, Isak greets you warmly while Sada, the owner and chef, ensures everything is perfectly cooked. The Cloud Café attracts the morning crowd, offering coffee in China cups and saucers instead of clunky mugs. Sada has a custom blend of spices (Spicey Sunshine Seasoning) available for customers to add to their food or purchase. The spice mix is excellent for those of us with compromised taste buds. All menu items are freshly prepared, taking 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your order. The pancakes are light and fluffy, and the Belgian waffles are thick and crispy. The freshly steamed omelets are particularly noteworthy. The café is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. It offers a loyalty program: spend $10 to receive a stamp, and once the card is full, you get $10 off your next purchase. The café is listed in Lake Forest City's Shop & Dine Community Gift Card program. A nice compliment to the café's decorations is the wall Sada has dedicated to local artist Richard Banks, who produces original acrylic paintings. This is an excellent example of a small business supporting a small business, and the artwork is for sale. Treat yourself and stop by for breakfast sometime. All the flavors from the bacon, eggs, avocado, and tomato melded together wonderfully! Washed everything down with a rich and sugary vanilla latte! We liked Cloud Cafe. Good food and service. Seems family owned. The menu for breakfast was minimal but varied which is nice. For the meat lover they have different sausages like andouille. Super flavorful and as of this writing only $4 for a big sausage. Prices overall are amazing. Two of us ate and had coffee for under $35. Portions are reasonable. You won't leave hungry but you won't be eating on leftovers either. Why 4 stars? I didn't love the steamed omelette. Not my thing, maybe yours? We will go back. read more

Stopped by for breakfast today as I have passed by many times and never stopped. Today was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised with this quaint lil place. The interior is very country with many pieces of art on display and the ceiling is full of open sky and clouds. Isak was my server and quite professional. I ordered scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon, sliced tomatoes and cottage cheese. The coffee was perfect and the meal quite tasty and filling. When I was finished Sada the manager/owner brought me some fresh sliced pears which were fantastic. I almost hate to share how awesome this small cafe is because I don't want it to be overrun by hordes of people. But I love to support local and more business means they will be around for a long time. Believe the hype about the pancakes...not sure how they can be so light, fluffy and delicious. They leave a whole bottle of syrup on the table, not something many restaurants do, so there is no "rationing" a tiny ramekin of syrup. I was in butter/syrup heaven! We have had the same waiter every time we have gone to the Cloud Cafe - he is competent, friendly and helpful! Price/food portion size is excellent. You will not leave hungry. read more

Hidden gem! Our new go to place for quaint breakfast with a cozy touch. From the patient service to coffee in a nice cup, everything was great - including the reasonable prices. Denver Omelet was amazing. Steamed makes it so much better: chunks of ham and perfect amount of cheese. Omelet on croissant was fantastic idea. Very thick with enough to save for lunch. Truky a family run establishment. This breakfast restaurant is charming and has amazing food at reasonable prices. Eggs from cage free hens in a henhouse. Fresh baked bread for toast and French toast. Real maple syrup for the fluffy pancakes. The hot chocolate and coffee were delicious. Dada, the owner and chef is adorable and takes pride in her cooking and her son Issac is a sweet waiter. What a lovely experience. Definitely our new breakfast spot. This is an adorable little place, just a few tables. The fact that it is family owned and operated is wonderful as well. The fact is, however, that not everyone should own a restaurant. The food is not even close to as good as ordinary home cooking, let alone something to charge money for. The quality and quantity are both completely unprofessional, almost bizarrely so. The service is friendly, so that's nice. But it is excruciatingly slow, crazy slow. Plus things like diet soda or ice tea they just won't have. Again simply not professional. Your experience will be an extreme long wait to be seated and to get food, what they aren't out of, assuming they are not busy at all. The food is just simply terrible, there's no sugar coating that fact. The adorable old lady alone and desperately out of place in the kitchen, and her kindly but inept kid serving tables are charming, but not a good enough reason to be here. Took my mom to Cloud Cafe in Lake Forest this morning, her request, and we both absolutely loved it! It's such a cute and thoughtfully decorated space--charming without being over the top. The coffee cup, tea cup, and plates were all so lovely and made the whole experience feel extra cozy. What really stood out was the amazing service--friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed from start to finish. Much better than our ususual Denny's visit. The food was good, the prices were very reasonable, and the portion sizes were just right--not too much, not too little. The space isn't very big, but that adds to the charm. Wow what a hidden gem, I came in with my fiancé for a quick breakfast, originally came to go but ended up staying for a meal. Isak was very polite and seated us quickly, fresh fruit was provided while we waited for our meal. The wait was about 15 minutes and absolutely worth it, the croissant I ordered was loaded beyond capacity with eggs falling out the side, supremely flaky pastry. I am very impressed and will be back, it helps they have a frequent customer card which reminds me to come back soon! My fiance and I were out and about and just wanted a simple, yummy place to try and found this little gem. What struck me was the mom and son aspect and the fresh, homemade food. The place is clean, the food was great, all the little plates and coffee cups super cute. We both had avocado toast because we weren't super hungry but it definitely hit the spot. Oh my gosh, what a find! This tiny little cafe is quaint, reminded me of the homey cafes I visited on holiday in Copenhagen. Spent a relaxing time chatting with my friend while our simply delicious food was made. Everything is handcrafted made to order. We both had Cafe Mocha's, I had the pancake breakfast which I added bananas to the pancakes had the eggs scrambled. Both were luscious and fluffy. My friend had the french toast breakfast and said it was delicious. Service was responsive and not at all intrusive. Cannot wait to return. read more

My husband took me here one morning as a "brunch date" on our day off. Immediately upon entering I was met with an unappetizing "wet sponge" smell. I was not pleased but I felt it would be too impolite to leave. There was a nice host who seated us right away... there was no one else seated in the place or waiting. The decor was sad (felt like an old office from the 90s) and the menu pretty standard for a breakfast spot. I got the pancake breakfast and my husband got an omelette. The food was average at best. The coffee was pretty decent considering it was just a normal brew system- nothing fancy but usually I don't bother with it if it's not espresso based. It was not a good vibe. No one else came in while we ate. We left within 30 minutes. I would not go back. read more
