Since new owner took over, this place has gone downhill - Understaffed and slow service is the accord for the day. As a loyal chocobean customer to the previous ownership family (I loved them - hard working, attentive, always there during the rush, pleasant and respectful, etc..), the new owner is a disappointment. Example - I came in today at 8:50, place was busy, owner nowhere to be seen - waited a long time to place order as the register fellow was also making the coffee(can you say understaffed). The pervious owner would have been at the espresso machine, working the line to expedite, but not the new guy. While I was waiting at least 12 minutes for my coffee, here comes the new owner, strolling in at 9:05AM and promptly disappears into the back of house while he can see that the place is busy. When he finally comes out, he walks around behind then counter, then goes up to the expresso machine and starts making a coffee for himself while register coffee maker guy is slammed with orders... !? WTF! This review may be harsh but it's the truth - small businesses succeed because the owner is involved every minute of the day. Sadly, this will be my last visit to this place as I search out a new local coffee shop. read more

I met a good friend here for brunch. The weather was beautiful so we ate in the patio. Service was great and attentive, food was delicious. They have a variety of pastries and some bagels. Their cafe menu has a lot of yummy looking items. Enjoyed a quiche that had jalapeño peppers in it. Just the right amount of spice and seasonings. It came with a green salad which was tasty. The blueberry muffin was moist. I dipped it in the foam in my vanilla hazelnut latte, which was delicious as well! I will definitely be back to try other pastries and items on their menu. read more

This was my first time here. I saw all the great reviews and decided to try out a new coffee spot! I had a vanilla iced latte with almond milk. It was good! Not too sweet! I would probably get another shot of espresso as it tasted very light. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. It definitely made my morning! The place could use some TLC. WOW! I love this place. I stopped in before a manicure and had a chai latte and a bagel with pesto cream cheese. The bagels are definitely delicious and fresh and I was particularly impressed with the pesto cream cheese. It was so flavorful but not too overpowering. Always happy to support a local business and am so happy that each visit is consistently positive. They serve great coffee drinks and have a good selection of food items, but the show stopper is always the fresh breakfast and sandwiches/ wraps made in house. Stopped by for a quick bite and was shocked by how huge my wrap was! The owners are here every day and they are the most delightful couple. They really care about their customers and even check in. I was delighted to walk into this coffee shop and not see a single laptop! The interior has maybe a dozen wooden tables and about the same number of tables are outside. I came on a weekday morning and the customers were primarily seniors. I ordered a tall, hot peppermint mocha and chose a chocolate croissant from the multiple selections in the pastry case. The pastries are individually wrapped in clear plastic, something I've only seen in Asian pastry shops (I guess for sanitary reasons and also to keep them fresh longer). Aside from pastries they also serve a variety of breakfasts and sandwiches. Not seeing an order pickup spot I sat inside at one of the tables and figured they'd call my name. But instead, one of the spunky, cheerful women who work behind the counter brought my order to my table (which seemed to be the standard procedure). I appreciated the food is presented on real plates with actual silverware. My mocha was excellent. The peppermint flavor was light but instead of the taste of coffee in my mouth after each sip, I was feeling fresh and minty. The croissant, which I had requested to be warmed up (and was served at a perfect warmed temperature), was meager in chocolate filling but was crisp and fresh. I'm not sure if they are baked in-house or come from an outside source. This is definitely a great place to come for your coffee or to have a simple breakfast or lunch. read more

We were in the area and we're hungry. We found this place on yelp and I guess it's been here quite a while! We arrived at 11 AM on a Saturday. The parking was easy. There was a nice flow of people but too busy. We were warmly greeted, and I order was taken pretty quickly. He ordered the California breakfast sandwich, the coffee cake, and a drip coffee. Everything came out fast and hot. The sandwich was delicious! The coffee cake and the drip coffee were pretty good. Next time we are in the area, we will check it out again. Such a cute family-owned coffee shop! Service was amazing and we were greeted with smiles. The owners were very friendly and were making the orders among the staff. Ordered a white chocolate mocha and it was great! You know it's good when there's actual shaved white chocolate on top of the drink instead of just syrup. Menu is simple but offered good choices besides the drinks - pastries, bagels, breakfast. Cozy atmosphere with a decent amount of seating. Definitely recommend to stop here if in the area! Let me start with I have been frequenting this place for nearly 20 years. It has gone through several owners and management, but they always did an exceptional job at making their coffee. Some of the best coffee you could find. Family and friends from out of town would often ask me to send it to them because it was so good. Not anymore. The mom dad and daughter that used to work there are no longer there as of last summer, and unfortunately the new owner doesn't seem to know what good coffee is. It honestly tastes like burnt whatever you want to refer to it as. I have been drinking the "Laguna's Choice" blend for the last 20 years, and unfortunately, the new management has ruined it. It's over cooked, it's burnt, it tastes like "sh1ii+t" as do all of their coffees now. I was there just earlier this week and ordered a Latte for my trip to work. First, when I walked in the front door it smelt like burnt/sweet sickness. But I figured hey, it's a latte, the milk will cover it up. Wrong, it was completely undrinkable. Burnt garbage. 1 year ago I would have said this has got to be one of the best coffee shops in the country. I would buy Foldgers or Maxwell house before I ever go here again. To the management and the new owner-you have completely ruined the coffee at this place. I am not sure if you don't have taste buds or what the issue is, but the coffee has gone from some of the best ever to undrinkable swill since you took over. read more

My husband and I went for a late lunch and were NOT disappointed. He had a GIANT California sandwich and I had the BLT. Both were made with fresh bread and were sized appropriately for their prices. We were given chips on the house as well. I also had a large iced tea with lemonade and it was incredibly delicious! Definitely going back. Plus, it's right next to my nail place! A family run shop that roast their own beans on the premise. We are Always welcomed with warmth and genuine greetings. The cappuccino and Lattes are awesome. I was getting them every morning on my way to work until my company moved. I've tried several of the breakfast on the weekends and they were great. I still go there every chance I get, weekend meetings and catching up with friends. There is a nice patio and plenty of seating inside. I miss it having it on daily basis though. read more

They offer both indoor and outdoor patio seating. I went with the Californian Sandwich on sourdough toast and a Hazelnut Vanilla Royale Iced Coffee. Sandwich was tasty. All the ingredients were tasty and fresh. My beverage was nice and tasty as well. Walk-up counter order. Service was prompt and our drinks and food came out in a timely manner. Overall a pleasant experience with really good tasting food and drinks. Definitely recommend. I came here on a Friday morning around 10am and it was very peaceful and quiet. It's such a serene spot tucked in the corner of the Mission Viejo Market Place. I was promptly greeted by the staff, which I enjoyed. They were all very friendly and attentive to anything that I needed. I ordered the hazelnut vanilla royale, iced with oat milk. It was a little on the sweeter side, but had a wonderful flavor. I am a big hazelnut fan so anytime I can get a beverage with this flavor, I do. I had a productive morning today, so I decided to reward myself by trying a new breakfast place. I study down the street so I decided to try it as it's on my way. I can honestly say I'm really glad I did! I first got the mango smoothie which was REALLY good and flavorful. It seems like they put fresh mango in it since the girl who rung me up asked her coworker to bring her a mango to make it. It definitely tastes like real fruit in any case, and I'm obsessed. They have a bigger selection of food than I expected from a coffee shop, and it all looks freshly made rather than some prepackaged crap from a chain coffee shop. I actually intended to order the vegetarian scramble and noticed she misheard me and was ringing me up for a mediterranean scramble. I thought about saying something, but I'm not picky and know I'd like whatever was in it so I said f*ck it, we ball. They were the same price, anyway. Thank god for that because the feta and the olives really elevated it. I guess I missed this scramble on the menu when looking the first time but it's super up my alley and everything I would've wanted. I had to add a bit of salt but I like my food pretty decently salty compared to others. With a bit of pepper and some tapatio on there it was perfect. The toast was pretty standard and I honestly consider toasts with these kind of foods to be a secondary part of the meal. The workers were all really friendly and it seems mom and pop owned. My drink and food came out really fast, they pretty much started making my scramble right as I ordered it. They have seating both inside and on the patio, on a nice clear day with mild weather the patio is wonderful. Wish I could comment on the coffee, but they seem to know their stuff and have a big machine up front to presumably roast their own coffee. Will definitely be back! read more

So glad we stopped by this place. The staff was incredibly welcoming. I felt so appreciated the minute we walked in. Every single staff member there was so nice. The food was soooo good too. This has to be one of the best bagels and coffee I've ever had. I went with the well-being on an everything bagel and oh man was it delicious. It's an open faced bagel and you get plenty on both sides of the bagel. I also ordered a warmed blueberry scone and it was just as tasty. For coffee, I went with the Hawaiian Hazelnut. You can't go wrong with in house roasted coffee. Not one hundred percent sure which bagels my friends ordered but they all loved them just as much. Our food came out promptly and ingredients were all fresh. They were brought to our table with a warm smile and great attitude. I appreciate that so much. It's the little things that take an experience from good to great for me. My experience here this morning was great. I will definitely be back more often and would highly recommend it. read more

Stopped by this place after getting some gas across the street. I'm glad we caught a glimpse of it as it is tucked away, but it is a bit fitting as this place truly is a hidden gem. As soon as we walked in the staffed greated us and made us feel at home. There were plenty of people gathering for morning breakfast, meetings and or just hanging out with friends- we would definitely make this place our local spot if we lived around the area. Aside from the obvious coffee, this place also sells breakfast items and snacks! We tried the toasted almond royale which was delicious! The mocha tasted really rich which complimented the toasted almonds perfectly. Included on the drink was whip cream and almond shavings! I hadn't been inside in a long time because I'm not a fan of the coffee so I don't have any reason to go. Today, however, I wanted a bagel and didn't want to drive all the way to the usual bagel place so I decided to come in and check it out. First off, it's like a sauna inside it was so hot and sticky. Very gross The counter is weird...they have added wood barriers to the top of all the counters so that you can't see what's happening in the prep area. It's not very welcoming nor reassuring. The place has an old coffee roaster inside and its all blocked off...which leaves very little space for patrons to wait for their order. It's very cramped. I think at one point, I am sure it was configured better but now it's just a cramped, dingy shop that feels like an old donut shop. The pastries are all individually wrapped so I think they get them from somewhere else. The bagels are not displayed well...just dumped into trays. Not very appealing. I didn't have coffee, so maybe it's worth going if you want to try the coffee??? The bagel was doughy. read more

I came here few times over the years and I definitely need to be back more often. I really like their sandwiches. The minute you bite into one of their sandwiches it tastes like something you make at home but big. I like that they put a lot of veggies but I do think they need to cut cucumbers and avocados more thinly since it was very difficult for me to eat with hands. Toasted bread and their special jalapeño spread were very good (just like how I remembered from last time) . Everything tasted fresh! Their tomato bisque was homemade and very yummy. I did try their coffee before and they were not bad. I haven't tried enough of their coffee to be critical of the quality.
