This place has worked its way into our regular coffee rotation. Yes, we come for the coffee. I love the saffron & rose or the cardamom chai, half sweet. Husband gets the orange blossom coffee but I believe that's a seasonal drink. The coffee is good and the flavors are interesting. We did try the PB & J oats once and it was good. Consistency is good, a generous amount of toppings, and not overly sweet. The only reason I don't get it more often is that the portion size is way too big. We tried saving it for the next day but it kind of lost its luster. I wish I could order the other flavors in the kid size! Service is always friendly and the ambiance is cute and inviting. read more

My wife, mom, sister and I visited this coffee shop after lunch and really enjoyed it! We ordered a latte, a Peppermint Hot Chocolate, and White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha. All three drinks were delicious and were large in size. (They specialize in putting oat milk in their drinks.) The ambiance of the shop had a very warm and comfortable feel. Not only were the tables and chairs comfortable there was also a sofa and lounge chairs. Hanging plants contributed to that at home feeling. The owner and the woman who served us were super friendly and welcoming. As a place to hang out on your own or with friends, it's great. read more

Super cute place. Friendly employee. They were sold out of brown sugar for their lattes so we couldn't try it! Got two build your own oat bowls, both with hot oats. My banana tasted old and had brown spots on it, I should have just asked for a fresh banana. I did notice a few fruit flies around the toppings bar so maybe some covers or fans to deter the bugs would be helpful. $15 for oatmeal with up to four toppings is a bit pricey when you really think about it (I can make it at home for less than a dollar). Eating out is expensive these days so I get it. Maybe I'll try one of their signature bowls next time... read more

The name alone was enough to pique our curiosity and now we're making plans to return soon. Seriously, unbelievably good. THE FOOD. - Apple Cobbler. Not gonna lie, I didn't think this was going to be anything special, but I enjoyed it so much that I can't wait to go back to get another one! Highly recommend. THE DRINK. - Banana Nut Smoothie. I've been on a banana kick, so I had to try this. Blended banana, walnuts, dates, agave, collagen peptides, and cinnamon sprinkled on top. I visited Brown Sugar on a Friday evening for their first After Hours session. Parking was very easy to navigate since there are spots right in front of the building as well as two parking lots behind it & to the left of it. There weren't too many other customers when I arrived, since I came in right when After Hours started. They had a variety of options for curating your very own charcuterie board. I made a petite board for myself & paired it with their coconut lime spritz. I love that they make some of the jams they offer, such as the cinnamon apple jam, in-house. They also had a selection of wines, but I was driving & was just stopping by, which is why I opted for one of their mocktails. Brown Sugar is owned by a friend of mine from high school & it's been so great seeing the progress she's made with the shop. Beyond a friendly staff & delicious menu items, Brown Sugar is also the perfect versatile spot for getting work done or catching up with friends. In addition, they also occasionally host coffee parties with live music. One of my favorite drinks to order would be their banana nut smoothie--I appreciate that they include collagen & pieces of dates in the drink. As always, I look forward to my next visit! read more

I am obsessed with all things oats (oatmeal, oatmeal, overnight oats) so had to try this place. This place is so cutely decorated - we came at end of September and everything was fall themed with cinnamon smell when entering. They have specialty bowls as well as build your own bowls with the option of warm oats or overnight oats. I ordered the lavender blueberry honey oats and my husband ordered the protein oats. They're pretty filling and the flavor was delicious! I love how unique this place is (it was my first time at an oatmeal bar). Everything was so aesthetic and it felt healthy eating a bowl of delicious oats. I got mine unsweetened (you can get your oats sweetened with brown sugar) but because of all the fruit toppings, garnished lavender, and honey it was already sweet enough. Looking forward to trying more bowls :) read more

Great find! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The interior was larger than I expected. It's pretty spacious with a decent amount of comfortable seating. We tried the Brown Sugar Oat Latte and the Brown Sugar Matcha - both were delicious! It takes a lot for my boyfriend to call a drink "amazing," but he wouldn't stop raving about his latte. Everything was flavorful and nothing was overly sweet. I love that they use brown sugar for sweetness. It really enhances the flavors. Prices are a little bit on the higher end but that is probably because they incorporate the oat milk into the price on their drinks. Either way, it's worth it. Beautifully designed and executed, this newish spot is conveniently located right in the heart of Aliso within the Town Center shopping area. From outside to in, the decor is light, bright and modern. It is obvious that great thought went into the planning of this space and no mark was missed. From the cool dining tables and chairs to the cute sofa with coffee table complete with chess board, to the high top seating perfect for WiFi access, the entire shop is warm and inviting. Even the Christmas decorations were super cute and thoughtfully presented. I planned to order a mocha but ended up with an oat bowl as well because I tried my daughter's gingerbread bowl and it was delicious. I decided to build my own even though the menu selection bowls sounded really good; the dozens of mix-ins and toppings looked too good to pass up. The service staff is refreshingly friendly and helpful as well. Overall, a great experience and I plan to return. read more

It took me six months--six full rotations around the sun--to finally figure out what that mysterious "Brown Sugar" marquee in the Aliso Viejo Town Center was all about. I assumed it was a band, a candle store, or maybe an aggressively specific dessert shop. Turns out, it's none of those--and I regret not investigating sooner. Who would ever guess that a place selling only oat bowls would be such a sleeper hit? Yet here we are. Think Golden Spoon frozen yogurt, but instead of frozen dairy regrets, you get a warm, wholesome assembly line of joy. You start by choosing your base: hot oatmeal or overnight oats. Then you dial in your sweetness level (because adulthood means having opinions about sweetness). And then--the magic happens. Fresh fruit, old-school brown sugar, and enough toppings to satisfy both the health nut and the inner child who still misses Saturday morning cartoons. Somehow, it all works. I was as surprised as anyone that this place is legitimately special. One visit in, and you'll be eyeing your Wheaties and Captain Crunch like they personally betrayed you. Lesson learned: never judge an oat by its marquee. read more

I ordered a hot brown sugar late and a hot chai. There were 2 people working one was manning the cash register and one was making bowls. You would think my coffees would come out before the bowls but I waited 20 mins for 2 hot coffees. Also the lady started my coffee when I first ordered- she pulled the espresso shots then let them sit for almost 15 mins. If I'm going to spend $20+ on 2 coffees I at least for fresh pulled shots. Decor looks like they ordered everything off amazon and the pictures are hung crooked. The young man with curly hair working the cash register and making bowls had better customer service than the middle aged women making the coffees at a glacial pace i would rate 1 star but ill add an extra star because he was working hard. And interacting with customers making sure they had a good experience he deserves a raise. Coffee is mediocre read more

I came to get some matcha this morning with my girlfriend and I'm so glad we stopped at brown sugar oats! I got the raspberry rose matcha and my girlfriend got the blueberry lavender matcha. Both were delicious and just what I was hoping for. My raspberry rose matcha was sweet and tasted just like raspberry and rose. The service was great, and they were super friendly. The ambiance was chic and trendy, and I loved the sign that you could take a picture with your drink in front of. They even had cute little stickers at the front you could take. Brown sugar oats is a cute little oat bar. I never knew such a thing existed but I guess they do. I ordered the lavender honey oats. The sweetness of the honey was not too overpowering and the lavender was not super lavendery which was great. The employee who helped me was very sweet and nice. The manager who rang me up was not too friendly..... Lol The inside was really cute. I loved the decor. This place is good to try. Went by again this am for an oatmeal bowl. Things have changed in the recent weeks. You know pay before having the bowl made. They've changed their pricing and unlimited toppings due to tariffs. The make your own bowl for $16 (already pretty pricey) only comes with 4 toppings now. It was unlimited when they opened. I understand with the in the WH things are going to change but this place now is too pricey for my liking. I think it's $18 for unlimited toppings. I won't return anytime soon. read more

What a fun concept! You can make your own oatmeal bowl or pick the one they have already designed. The oats come warm or cold too. The ladies that were working were super nice. The store itself is new and clean. I got the Choco-Almond crunch bowl. The warm oats were a nice touch as the dark chocolate and almond butter really got the chance to blend and melt together. Toppings were very good and added texture to the oats. This bowl was more of the sweet side, which I didn't mind. But also, there is an option to choose unsweetened oats. Also got the saffron and rose latte. Wow can't believe they actually sprinkled actual saffron in there! Drink is fragrant, but it was quite tasty. Definitely would come back to try the different options and maybe even build my own next time! read more

At first I thought it was a little pricey- $14 for a bowl of oatmeal, but after I made a custom one and chose the unlimited toppings option, it was sooo worth it! I opted for almond butter to be mixed into my oatmeal and topped it off with chia, hemp seeds, all kinds of fruit, then honey. It's actually a shareable bowl for the amount I got. I also ordered the brown sugar latte with half the sweetener and almond milk and it was one of the best lattes I've had. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area :) read more

Really lovely space in Town Center. I adore their brown sugar chai - such a great pick me up. Haven't tried their oat bar yet which is what they're known for but from the glowing reviews I can't wait to try it soon! As someone who's a big fan of oatmeal, I'm so happy this cute spot exists! I've tried the raspberry rose oatmeal bowl and the raspberry rose matcha (both were from their spring menu a few months ago). I recently went back and had the apple cobbler oatmeal bowl. ABSOLUTELY delicious, way better than I expected. I'm not generally one to order or care much about oatmeal, but this place changed the game. Different options for oats including overnight-oats which were amazing. Then add in a mix in like cookie butter, nutella or many others, and top with like 50 different options, not to mention drizzles like honey, marshmallow and more. Huge list of drink options and the espresso, iced mocha and smoothie were awesome. To top it off was the 10/10 service from Josh. Thanks so much and can't wait to come back! read more

This place is super cute! Simple but soothing decor and cool background music that isn't overwhelming. I was in the neighborhood for my son's baseball game...Aliso Viejo has a gem! I just wish I wasn't shy and would have taken some pictures of the place. Friendly staff! The young man acknowledged me as soon as I walked in and let me know he would attend to me as soon as he finished with the prior client. When he was ready to help me (unless than a min later), he helped me choose between the traditional-can't-go-wrong Sea Salt Caramel Latte or the exotic-flavored Cardamom Chai Latte. He was honest about not having tried the Cardamom Chai at that location, but how he loved how different and delicious cardamom is. I opted for the Cardamom Chai Latte and it was delicious! I forgot to ask for a kid's temperature because I'm a wimp, but waiting on it to cool only made the aromatics come alive even more. Yum! read more

I'd say this place is definitely overrated/overpriced. Nice environment, super clean. Great sounding menu with some interesting choices. Tried the banana nut smoothie and was underwhelmed. For a smoothie with all of these great ingredients including dates, walnuts, agave, and bananas it really seemed watered down and felt more like a drink than a smoothie. Not the least bit filling and lacked flavor. Was hoping for something more special and the price point for the large was high. read more

I greeted the barista cheerfully and tried to be friendly, but you would have thought I'd offended her personally. I get that everyone has off days -- maybe I reminded her of someone she didn't like -- but the customer who came in right after me was greeted with a warm smile and a cheerful "Good morning! The usual?" My thank-yous, on the other hand, were met with grunts and glares. All in all, it wasn't the best introduction to Reborn or the most pleasant way to start my day.
