This is heartbreaking to write as i have loved this place for many years since living out here but today i ordered my usual rare steak & beef pho and it was a complete dissapointment as i believe the broth has been replaced by a powdered alternative as opposed to authentic Pho broth. A clear tell-tale sign was the lack of a layer of sediment or residue at the bottom of the broth container before pouring, from the beef and bone typically simmered to make Pho broth. It tasted like a very commercialized version of Pho which was not a great experience, slightly below passable at best. The aftertaste in my mouth post meal is a very salty and gunky one. Unfortunately i will not be ordering again. Im giving three stars only so as to not impact negatively too heavily. read more

So I was totally hesitant to try this place just because most good pho places name themselves "PHO##" or something along those lines. Well, 3 years after moving just around the corner from it I decided to drop in for a visit. What the heck! My bowl of pho came out PIPING HOT. Like melt the roof of my mouth, can't eat anything crispy for a week kinda hot. IT WAS MOLTEN. And it was GLORIOUS. I haven't had pho this hot since living back in L.A. and I missed it so so much! Flavor wise, it could definitely use more but for being right around the corner, I can go anytime during the always rainy season? It's fantastic. They don't do the fatty brisket here, and the beef balls or the tiny ones that are a bit too mushy but it's great for Vancouver! Make sure to ask for nuoc beo (soup butter) on the side. It adds a whole nother depth of flavor you never knew you needed! Bun Bo hue leaves much to be desired. Not enough flavor for sure and not the right toppings. Bun Cha Ha Noi isn't authentic here. They just make it like regular bun in a bowl with veggies, noodles, and meat. With sauce on the side. But they don't give enough sauce either so it's not that great. Banh Mi is great here! I've only ever tried the BBQ Pork one because it's so good I don't wanna risk trying one of the others and not liking it LOL! Mayo tastes homemade and super delicious and the veggies are super fresh. I like to get one to dip in my pho. So freaking good! Service is usually pretty good when you get one of the Asian servers. There are 2 new white servers there that have no clue what they're doing. I only like 3 cuts of meat in my pho so I tried showing her how to input my order so that I get all 3 cuts but she kept insisting I was ordering wrong and proceeded to put it in her way. My pho didn't come out how I wanted it and it wasn't even hot so my meal was extra disappointing. I also asked for my side of Nuoc beo (soup butter) and she tried to tell me it's an extra charge.. excuse me miss. I've been ordering Nuoc beo on the side my entire life and have NEVER had anyone tell me they'd charge me for it. So annoying to really enjoy a place and then you get that kind of service and the entire meal just sucks after that. All in all, I'll be back because it's one of the better ones in the area but I might swerve if I see the two white servers who swear they know how to order the food of my people better than I do. read more

A little Viet shop in Vancouver outskirts and located near the ice rink. When walking in, initially it looks like an open boba shop, but come to find it is an actual restaurant. My family 6 tried a bit of everything, but truly came with for the Banh Mi's Apps: 1. Crab Rangoon: not a ton of filling, mostly wonton wrapper. Kinda disappointing 2. Fried Tofu: Absolutely loved the additional fried basil that was included. Super flavorful and on point Drinks: 1. The Unknown: adding popping boba, the overall flavor was nice and fruity 2. Berry Guava Lemonade: unfortunately as pretty as it was; the taste was very artificial 3. Passion: the passion green tea was refreshing for sure, but pretty watered down 4. Honeydew Melon Slushie: the slush was good but eventually turned into water, and the lychee jelly wasn't the best topping Entrees: 1. Combo Pho: loved the fresh herbs and mix of meats. The broth was extremely hearty and homey 2. Steak and Meatball Pho: the broth came out piping hot and never fully cooled down. The meatballs were a bit tough 3. Service is terrible. About a year ago we were here terrible service to the point we got up and walked out. I'm always down for a second chance. Went back for a to go order. The same kid that was here last time also helped today. I clearly told him both orders. About 5-10 minutes later food is done. Wow that was quick. I notice the bag was light on food and asked was this both orders he repeated just one. I asked about the other he looked confused took my other order again while my food was in the bag. Another 5ish minutes goes by. Don't forget my food is in the bag on the counter getting cold. He brings out the other order. I pay and leave. Get home. (5 minutes later it's a short drive). Both orders are barely lukewarm. We needed to microwave so they weren't that hot when packaged. Not impressed they seem more worried about talking with each other than serving the customers. Won't go back they failed. I'll drive further for better pho as this town has plenty of options. It could use a full overhaul. Go find somewhere else to eat read more

A cute lil Vancouver hole in the wall. This place gives cozy vibes and comforting classics. Along with solid dishes they have surprisingly good boba drinks. My favorite is the Floral Thai Tea. Think creamy thai tea with strong notes of fruit and floral. Cloud 9's offerings are enjoyable and satisfy a craving. The Combination Pho was served hot and tasted traditional and flavorful. The Shrimp Fried Rice tasted more smokey than the first time I had it but was still palatable. Reasonable prices for the serving sizes. The service was prompt and the women working were sweet and attentive. Parking is not an issue as it's in a suburban area and they have a parking lot. read more

Amaaaazing! I was visiting Portland and was looking for something comforting that also was going to be a bang for my buck. And I can confidently say I found that place. I ordered the seafood pad Thai, pho and a Thai tea. Seafood pad Thai was delicious, noodles were springy and had soaked up all the sauce. Seafood pad Thai consist of squid, scallops and shrimp. The pho was also amazing, the broth had a deep flavor especially for a cafe setting restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the charbroiled shrimp plate and it was okay! The shrimp was shriveled, salty, and small .-. Lovee the pickled veggies on the side tho! Cloud 9 is a-ok. Your average thai/viet fusion fare featuring a wide array of dishes from pho, banh mi, rice dishes, to bubble tea, Cloud 9 has it all. While I wouldn't say their food is out of the world, it is decent and you can tell they put effort into preparation/aesthetics. They have plenty of options to choose from for bubble tea, and I've had their thai tea a couple times and it's good! It's a bit on the sweeter side, even with 50% sugar, but they do offer non-dairy options - soy or oat milk. Prices are fair ranging from $5-$6+ a drink depending on add-ins/drink choice. They have a punch card system (buy 9 get 1 free) and often have sales/promotions. If you're looking for some boba in the Vancouver area, Cloud 9 is a solid choice, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here. read more

The service is lacking. Unorganized, ordering was easy, server looked at me as he dropped off the menu. I wanted to let him know i was ready to order, but before i can speak he just turned and left. After ordering, the Pho came out pretty quickly but the sprouts came much later. We ordered 3 Pho, but only 1 small stem of bay leaf. The server did not check on us the entire meal. This place is run entirely by the youngsters and they do not know how to take care of customers. The kicker to this meal was at the end, we had to stand in line at the boba ordering line to pay before leaving. So i will not be visiting this establishment any more. Cloud 9, good luck! read more

The food and staff used to be so awesome here. Now the staff lives in fear of the owner. They told the customer they need to be out by 10pm. They don't have any signs posted about not serving after 9:30 the restaurant had giant flies everywhere. The staff was sweet but very inexperienced. When asked a question they were very defensive. The manager came out and talked to us who was very sweet but said that the owner gets mad at them if they're not out at exactly 10 PM a little advice to the owner when you have a business coming in you keep the restaurant open a little bit. And you should be empowering your employees instead of making them live in fear. This used to be such a great place. I don't know if there's a new owner or what's going on but it's disgusting. The food still taste wonderful but I hate to see employees live in fear do better. This is the third time I've been here and probably the last there's many restaurants that they have great service and treat their employees good you oughta be ashamed of yourselves read more

My previous review was under the former owners. After driving by and seeing that they had changed owners, I figured I would go in and see how it was. Given the current situation with the coronavirus, I opted to get my meal to go. Their menu is much smaller then a lot of restaurants menus, but there's nothing wrong with having less dishes if you do those dishes well. I ordered the combination pho as well as the shrimp salad rolls. I eat a lot of salad rolls and I don't think that I've ever had salad rolls like these. The shrimp appeared to be grilled, which isn't a way I had had them before for a salad roll. The rice paper was delicate, the rolls contained mint which was very nice, and the peanut sauces that were provided were very good! I appreciated that the peanut sauce is were not overly sweet like many are. My combination pho was packaged to go with thinly sliced raw beef and all of the delightful veggies on the side. The chunk of tendon was large and tender (one of my favorite parts) and the tripe wasn't tough or chewy. The broth was very flavorful and piping hot despite me not digging in until I got home. It was wonderful. If you go right now they are offering 15% off due to new ownership and it's totally worth it. I'll definitely be back. read more
