Went last night with two friends for some dinner. Everything was fine, one of my friends got the blueberry mojito and it is delicious btw! My friends got their food and I was still waiting. A blonde haired lady (not our waitress) that brought their food asked what I got and I told her pizza. About 5 min later she brings out a pizza and it wasn't the right one. Apparently our waitress misheard me (btw, after we ordered our waitress came back a second time for me to remind her what I ordered...so I had told her twice what kind of pizza I wanted). But- OK- mistakes happen, no problem. My friends were trying to hold off eating their food until I got mine. After about 15min the waitress came back and said it would be another 10-15min. Alright. Another 15min went by. She came back and explained that there was a large party who just put their order in so that's why it was taking a while. This is when me and my party were annoyed. My friends were about done with their food at this point and I hadn't received my food yet. I don't understand why the large party who ordered AFTER us had priority on getting their meal when my friends were done, their plates were taken and I STILL hadn't eaten. They told me I wouldn't have to pay for my food. However, the waitress tried to spin it around when I was waiting for my food basically saying that it shouldn't matter because it's going to be free....ummm ok. Thank god we didn't have anywhere to be after as we spent a good 45min extra AFTER my friends were served waiting on my pizza, which I eventually just asked for it to-go. Oh, btw, the pizza was burnt when I finally got it. HOWEVER, the reason I gave 3 stars and not 1 is because they obviously felt bad. The bartender bought us a round of shots while we were waiting (I appreciated it but it was hard to drink on an empty stomach). And then our waitress let us get another round of drinks for free. And eventually they just took care of our whole bill, including my friends food and drinks. read more

Finally was able to check out this bar over the weekend. Cocktails were delicious and beer wasn't too expensive. What made this bar unique was the printed wallpaper and funky furniture and decor. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a more relaxed location in the Glenwood South area. read more

This place is awesome. Its like a mix between 1960's mad men and Austin powers on steroids. It is a little pricey but worth it. So I tried this place out for a friends birthday dinner. Not a place to sit for conversation. The waitress was charming but missing a beat if her primary function. All of the orders (appetizers,salad, and entrees came out at the same time.) They were out of the one beer I would have ordered and then took an hour to bring waters out. Really cool atmosphere and look! This bar is decorated based on the movie Clockwork Orange, which if you have never seen it, is crazy and pretty much out there. The bar itself is not very big, however, when warm outside, they open their front completely and becomes a lot more spacious and really cool to hang out. Their bar is full and you can pretty much get anything you want... Their bartenders are also very knowledgeable and make great drinks. read more

The cocktails are as fabulous as the amazing staff. If you want Raleigh's greatest old fashioned, this is the place to go. Well, YELP strikes again! Due to the reviews had to experiment for my GF and I. It's a Thursday night and kinda quiet around 9:30pm. The music there playing has an excellent vibe, the food is excellent and extremely fresh. The service is on par and we ordered the LI ice tea and they made it with a really good kick to it. My Girls Moscow mule was good also. This place does NOT disappoint at all. I do know on the w/ends this place packs and rightfully so. Well another great place downtown raleigh has to offer! What a nice and pleasant bar in Raleigh. We ended up here late after festivities with the Triangle WIne Experience. Handsome space. Handsome staff. Handsome cocktails. I've been here once and probably won't return. The night I was there they were celebrating a coworkers birthday and the staff was completely obnoxious!! They were too worried about getting their drunk friend wasted and it was difficult to even get my dirty martini properly made! The music was so loud I couldn't think straight and most definitely couldn't talk to the people I was with! Make sure you check your bank statements if you go to this establishment. We left a $4 tip on a $21 tab but on my credit card statement it was entered as a $14 tip. I called and spoke with the manager and gave them the benefit of the doubt as I believed this to be an "accident" on the bar tenders part. He said he would research the transaction and call me back. It's been a week and no phone call. This leads me to believe this was no "accident". I'm now disputing the charge through my cc company since they haven't resolved this themselves. read more

I went to Clockwork for the first time last week for some after-work drinks and snacks with friends. We LOVE the decor and the atmosphere! The service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the fried ravioli, fried cauliflower and a pizza with mandarin oranges and jalapenos - sounds weird, but it was fantastic! We will definitely be back! read more

Cool, hip little space. I don't get the doll heads on the bar, but enjoyed the atmosphere. I had some whiskey and it was great, but I can't speak to the quality of the drinks. I'm rating my drink, service, and ambiance experience as I didn't order food. The look is trendy chic and fun. I think it's a great place to go if feeling a bit classy/fancy but it's not necessary to dress up or anything. The service at the bar was quick and attentive. There are some fun mixed drink options on the menu (my tequila concoction was delicious!) and a very full bar for your choosing pleasure. Randomly came here with a big group for somewhat of a late-ish dinner, and was really pleasantly surprised. We were able to be seated right away and right in a primo spot by the window. I had the carnitas sandwich and that bad boy was absolutely delicious. Big ole portion with lots of tasty fixins. There are of course also lots of good beers, and I assume good cocktails, to choose from as you'd expect and hope, and as others have said the decor (especially the hall to the bathroom) is trippy. Right off Glenwood, good drink selection, great atmosphere and refreshing different look. Lounge meets bar? If that's a description.

Loved the casual laid back feel and the food was really good. Had the pesto gnocchi appetizer. Just a smaller version of the main entrée. The sauce, I wanted to scoop up on a spoon it was so good. The gnocchi were really light and tasty. I had a side salad with blue cheese that was so fresh and full of blue cheese chunks. Drinks were fairly priced. And they had a fun selection of canned beers like Schlitz and PBR. While I find them disgusting, it's a fun throwback. My friend had the Hawaii 5-O pizza. I had a bite. The crust was super yummy. Definitely enjoy this tiny little place. We left before 10. Which is when I understand the music changes and it gets really crowded. read more

As soon as you walk up to the door, you can tell that Clockwork draws inspiration from Anthony Burgess's classic novel "A Clockwork Orange" from the 70s furniture to the funky futuristic wallpaper. Since when is this one of the best kept secrets in Raleigh? The ecclectic decorations, cozy bar seating, and extensive drink and dinner menu make Clockwork a perfect apres work watering hole for those looking for a more polished evening than the usual ale houses and pubs. The crowd (and crowdedness - or lack there of) is somewhat hit or miss, but that doesn't make Clockwork any less of a joy. As an added bonus, when it's warm, they open the street-side Windows for a refreshing indoor-outdoor vibe. read more

So I'd read the article claiming that Clockwork was one of the top 20 bars in America. This couldn't be more wrong. For Clockwork to be on the same list as PDT in NY is lunacy. It does have cool decor, and the female staff and their outfits are sure to please the male patrons. Those two things alone are the reason I gave it 3 stars, but nothing higher. If you're going to claim to be a cocktail bar, then make cocktails the right way. Don't load the glass up with small ice cubes that do nothing but water down the drink. Both cocktails I had were served this way. Their old fashioned was a watery mess. That drink should be a staple and a homerun for an alleged cocktail bar. When asked about it, the bartender said there's no way they could do that with the volume they do. And that's it in a nutshell. They're more concerned with quantity than quality. The Foundation is a far better bar, focusing on quality. The charcuterie plate was wonderful and enough for 4, but that's the only food we tried. read more

Awful service and ruined our food!!!! We had a table of 4. We ordered a bottle of wine, a couple of cocktails and 2 entrees and 2 appetizers. They were slow to bring the food and when they did they brought our two entrees first. We asked to get our appetizers first and wait on our entrees. A blond, young, curly haired girl server or manager came to our table and gave us a serious attitude. She said they could rewarm our entrees. We asked for them to be remade but when they came out the salmon was over cooked to hockey puck consistency. Neither she nor our server came back to ask how our entrees tasted, and to see if we wanted more to drink (our wine glasses had been empty since before they brought our entrees) and our water glasses were empty too. My husband and I went to clockwork last night for the first time. We had started at trophy brewing and after waiting five minutes for someone to clear the dirty dishes in front of us we decided to check out another location for pizza and beer. Yelp took us to clockwork and we are so glad we had the opportunity to eat and drink there. Matt, Our bartender, was the best bartender I've had in a long time. Blows the bartenders at fox liquor lounge away. The food was incredible. We had the homemade gnocchi and I had the mahi tacos and my husband had the Hawaiian pizza. The tequila drinks with homemade hibiscus syrup and a jalapeño margarita were the best I've had in the triangle area. I would highly recommend clockwork. read more

Really fun relaxed atmosphere. The DJ they had played great music, but it was a little loud for no one dancing (no room to dance). Be weary of the drinks, they can be on the surgery sweet side. The decor and theme is reason enough to go! read more

Really cool place. We did not eat but had a few beers. Stella's were $4 and in a great glass and cool atmosphere. Wine was $8 a glass and the cocktails were good, $9 but hand made and in big glasses. Not a place I would hang out in all night but definitely for pre cocktails before dinner or a nightcap for sure! read more
