Let me just start out by saying the view of this place is absolutely breathtaking! I came there very late in the evening and they have a late night menu, which features a few options to accommodate everyone's pallete. My waitress was so kind and the whole staff welcomed me with a positive and friendly demeanor! I ended up getting a mocktail which tasted like something out of a gourmet bar! It was late at night, so I got a Caesar, however, the croutons taste like they make them with a fresh garlic bread. The restaurant is at the top floor of the Hyatt and is decorated beautifully with artwork that looks like it should be in the museum. We were staying at the Hyatt on a Friday night and decided to stop in for dessert and a drink. It was around 10pm and we wanted to sit outside but there was no one at the hostess stand, inside was relatively empty and a few available tables outside. Asked at bar and they asked if we needed wait-service. We said "no", assuming they were short-staffed or whatever, ordered at the bar and brought our stuff outside ourselves. Bar service was fast, old fashioned was perfectly acceptable, and dessert was ok too. (some key lime pie type thing in a mason jar). Overall, decent and we enjoyed ourselves, but certainly not exceptional service, drinks or food. Nothing memorable there. View is decent from the rooftop of downtown. Pains me to give a less-than-five-star review, but it was unavoidable. Stars for the view and quality of the food. Poor marks for service. We stopped in for brunch at 11:15am on a Saturday . Wasn't approached about a drink until 11:25am, and our food didn't come until closer to 11:55am. That would have been okay, but we were one of only 5 tables in the entire place. And when we had to split the bill 3 ways, each of us got different bills ($32, $38, and $40) even though we asked for an even split. We went here for a ladies brunch and had a great time! The food was yummy. I ordered the shrimp and grits and really liked the sauce that was used. I wasn't a fan of the tails still being on...it's a saucy dish so it would've been better to have them off but it was still tasty so it gets a pass. We split a mimosa bucket which was $20 - a steal and you even get to choose two juices. The server was also really great and attentive. The only real issue I had was with the acoustics in the restaurant. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant when we were there but it was so loud. Each of us noticed it. Came here for a birthday party. Very cool spot when it comes to the rooftop lounge. We were seated immediately and had a beautiful view of the sunset! Drinks were great! This was the best Espresso Martini that I've had in Raleigh thus far! I hate the taste of alcohol, and they really masked the taste well, but the alcohol was top shelf. I got more chocolate and Espresso which I loved! I guess Monday evenings are slow so there were was only 1 server on the rooftop, so we did have to order at the bar and carry out our drinks. I stopped in for drinks. I've heard so many great things about this place regarding the drinks so I wanted to try it. Parking in the area is either on the street or in the nearby garage which is more convenient. The establishment located on the top floor of the hotel, so if you have too many, it'll be convenient for you to grab a room which is nice. I enjoy bourbon and whisky in the winter so I sipped on the Black Revolver which has Bourbon, coffee liqueur and some chocolate bitters in it. I certainly enjoyed it as well as my pleasant bartender. It's always nice to have a friendly, fun and engaging bartender. They make the experience so much better. I'll be returning to try some of food on the menu because I heard it's amazing. The food here was really good! The crab dip was the highlight, super tasty with lots of crab lumps, which we loved. The fries were also great, crispy and flavorful. The menu is a bit on the shorter side, but we mainly came for the view, and it didn't disappoint, even with the rain, it was still really nice to look at. Our waiter was friendly and quick, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. This is a great spot for a cozy date night or even a casual business meeting. I visited High Rail last night during Restaurant Week and ordered from the special Restaurant Week menu. I ordered the sea bass, which was noticeably different from what was listed on the menu online. The online menu included risotto, but what was served instead was a sauce-based preparation. The price I was charged also did not match the price listed on the website. That said, when I brought this to the attention of our server, he immediately spoke with management, and the issue was corrected without any pushback. I really appreciated how professionally and promptly they handled it. On the plus side, the ambiance is very nice and upscale, but not in a way that makes you feel like you need to dress up to be there. It's polished but comfortable. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. For anyone who hasn't been before, the entrance can be a little confusing. The restaurant is accessed through the Hyatt Hotel and is located on the seventh floor. Overall, a solid experience with good service and atmosphere, just a few menu inconsistencies to be aware of during Restaurant Week. read more

The rooftop view isn't the most scenic since it just faces the street and nearby buildings. That said, the service is excellent--the staff is so friendly! This was my first experience at High Rail and I absolutely enjoyed it. My friends and I had our quarterly ladies dinner here. The service was prompt and our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu. We requested a list of the mocktails being that none of us were drinking alcoholic beverages and to our excitement, they had a menu for those drinks. The House Spritz was very refreshing for a hot day. I had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was jumbo and prepared perfectly. My friends had the Citrus and Roasted Beet Salad with steak. High Rail is a rooftop bar located in Seaboard Station. We dined in here for Mother's Day and had a good experience. My mom and I both started off with the mimosa flight for $20 because one mimosa was $13...so that was a no brainer and we split the crab dip. For our meals we all ordered from the specials menu. I dined at High Rail on Sunday evening. The restaurant is nice and the views on the rooftop are even better. It did not seem like a busy night at all. Our waiter quickly came over after being seated and seemed pleasant and welcoming. I enjoyed shareable Italian flatbread pizza. The cocktails were also very good. A moment of grace and French75 was delicious and well balanced with alcohol. I had the hanger steak and that was extremely flavorful. Almost too much seasoning for my palate. The fries that came with my steak weren't fresh. All of my food except for the pizza shareable was room temperature and the fries were cold and not fresh. I expressed this to the waiter about the fries. My waiter acknowledged this and offered to get me more but I declined (respectfully). It is surprising to fail at fries. Very easy to get fries right. I feel there should've been some deduction for the fries that I didn't get to enjoy and asked to remove from the table. I want to add that the brownie served with ice cream is delicious but the brownie was very cold. The waiter implied the brownie came out of the oven fresh. No warmth on the dish at all. The waiter seemed unaware to say the brownie was cooked fresh. It tasted as if it came straight out the freezer along with the ice cream. I do recommend High Rail as a new hotspot for cocktails - the cocktails were solid. I look forward to coming back even if it's just for cocktails, pesto pasta, or a burger. It has taken a while to come to terms with the fact that this actually happened... considering the high expectations I've had with the amazing things I have heard about High Rail since the opening. I have no words aside from expressing my extreme disappointment with managerial staff at High Rail. The Main Male Manager (tall brown hair hard to make out details stood very close to me as he pushed), caused me to have a panic attack to which I went to the elevator to where he cornered me in the elevator where I'm already on the floor I begged him not to get in the elevator with me, he scoffed and still did before laughing and getting off the elevator and leaving me there. It wasn't until the wife of a very kind couple picked me up off the floor and escorted me to the front that I was able to get out. A female staff member came out and spoke with me. The ambiance was moody with sexy dark lighting. The decor was perfectly minimal and modern with a splash of art deco. It's nice that there's an elevator dedicated specifically for the restaurant. Our server JJ was great and immediately set us up with water and cocktails. The menu is fairly limited so the expectation is that every dish will be on point. We ordered the chix ka wraps which were okay but the chicken could use some seasoning and maybe a more sturdy lettuce like romaine versus butter lettuce to make it easier to enjoy. The bacon cheeseburger was well seasoned although slightly overcooked. The grilled chicken thigh was a very small portion of chicken and seemed to be about the size of half a thigh which was overcooked. The saving grace for the chicken thighs were the accompanying yogurt, tomato, olives and naan. Like the outdoor atmosphere and view; the food was really good but the service was ABYSMAL. After 10 minutes of waiting for water, a waitress announced that she would be with us in a minute. 10 minutes later I went to the bar to order drinks as the waitress had not returned. The host was apologetic and comped the drinks, took our food order and brought the order himself. After that waited another 10-15 minutes after the busboy had cleared the table with absolutely no action. Had to flag down a different waiter who had not been serving us to ask for the check. So wanted to love this place. And the food was great but being essentially ignored for 2 hours is not what you want in an evening out. read more
