Immediately after signing the contract (and I mean literally, *immediately* after) there was a dramatic switch. We were locked in and they knew it. Caveat emptor. The three years of coverage was periodically marked by technical issues that were a pain to coordinate and resolve. Our outdoor storage shed got burgled a couple of times and interacting with True Protection I just remember having the sense that they did not GAF, to be blunt. The alarm system, and monitoring was a nuisance and source of stress. You will be better served with a DIY solution from Best Buy that does not rely on locking yourself in to these contracts. It is incredibly rare for me to bother giving a negative review. I try to review small businesses I interact with who do great work. When I saw the email soliciting reviews in my inbox, I was kinda shocked. Looking at all the glowing reviews, I found myself agreeing with another reviewer who thought this was deluged with friends and family pumping the numbers. It's just hard for me to imagine a company that consistently delivered such a poor customer experience for multiple years could have these glowing reviews. I I will say it again: prior to signing the contract they are amazing. After you sign it is all downhill. Beware.

They were the only company to show up on time for the inspection. They were clear, discussed options. And even presented alternatives that would give the same desired results in a more cost effective manner. Ultimately, they were half the price of the next lowest bidder and a third the price of the highest. On the agreed upon install date, the crew was early, walked the job with the same rep who quoted it, and got to work right on time. Throughout the process they communicated well, asked for my input on options (plate color, light intensity, plate style, etc). ADT basically unable or unwilling to fix predecessor's "Protection one" hard-wired wires. Put in…read morewireless stuff that in several cases gives incorrect low-battery messages. Units have unacceptable delay for second somewhat distant display -- poor connectivity and no "relay". Terribly clumsy software. Terrible online presence requiring separate logins to alarm.com, myadt.com, adt.com. Depends on whether you want to arm/disarm, pay bill or set autopay, or other issues. Occasional competent advice by phone or in-person repair, but more often a really bad bureaucracy. Overpriced and generally low quality devices; ordering a battery from them at 3 times retail.. Separately I'm trying SimpliSafe, which at least puts you more in control of devices and apps, and is not so overpriced.
