This salon is ok. When it newly opened, I liked it enough and had good service. Since then, their prices have jumped, they have not honored appointments as much as friends that just walk in, and they charge a lot extra for gel. They also let their young daughter work in the salon at the age of 10. I think there might be a better place. read more

The last few times I've called & made an appointment they've made me wait at least a half hour to get started because they accept walk ins even though they're booked up & don't have enough people working. I've never had to wait as a walk in. So if you go there beware that if you book an appointment they will not honor your scheduled time. read more

I am only giving two stars to this place because they suddenly changed to accept only cash. When I was there two weeks ago, they accepted credit cards. I understand any small business maybe have some problem of paying fees to credit card companies. The owner could inform me or at the door about their changes. However, none of them told me about it. I saw the sign on the cash register. One of workers just told me where ATM was and I ended up paying $3 for the fee. If I knew about their payment policy, I would get the service probably tomorrow. When I paid with cash to the owner, I talked about the transaction fee of ATM, she seemed careless about my 3 bucks fee and showing me some attitude. Yeah, $3 is not big, but the way they conduct their business is not for me. I won't go back to this place. read more

I arrived 7 minutes late for an appointment for a mother-daughter pedicure to find that all four of the pedicure chairs were filled and clearly had been for a while. Regardless of whether I had been on time, the appointment would not have started timely. We picked out colors while we waited. All their nail colors except gel colors are OPI. There's a sign up that says OPI is $5 more. $5 extra for nail polish. We chose a non-OPI brand trying to save $10 and were told we couldn't use that brand because it was only for gel nails and could only use OPI. They had my daughter start first after about a 15 minute wait so I rolled my chair over so I could sit next to her and keep her company (she's 7) while they did her toes. They did a good job and she likes the end result, although the technician made no effort to engage her in conversation or interact with her in any way. My pedicure started about 15 minutes after hers, so a grand total of 37 minutes after my appointment slot. They put back my chosen nail color and replaced it with Miss Piggy pink which I didn't notice until all of my toes were painted. I had chosen a purple-ish color that didn't look anything like Miss Piggy pink. The new shade was OPI of course. I treated myself to a "deluxe pedicure" and did receive a nice massage with lots of oils and parrafin wax and nicely painted toes. I was told that would take about a half an hour. I had only 90 minutes for parking and my 7 year old doesn't have infinite patience. The pedicure took almost an hour and their seats were not comfortable enough for that long of a wait time. The massaging back was nice but after 30 minutes the bottom felt hard as a rock and I was extremely uncomfortable. When it came time to pay I saw (for the first time) a sign that said "Cash only." I had only brought my bank card and luckily my check book. They accepted checks. My total came to $78 for a pedicure for a 7 year old and a deluxe pedicure for myself - that's pre-tip. Holy guacamole. We left at almost 4:00 PM, nearly 2 hours after I had arrived. read more

This little place is awesome! It is family owned (mom, dad & sisters) who all work there. It's nice and quiet (I don't like places with loud music blaring or the TV on at high volume), very peaceful, comfy and relaxing to me. I had a pedicure done (by mom) along with a manicure (by sis). Both did a great job. I really have no complaints about this place. Without appointments, they were able to do myself and my two friends (with a small waiting time) at the same time. *Appointments are recommended though (I think we got lucky!), cause people was walking in like a 75% sale was going on. Best Nail Salon in Monterey! My entire staff started going here so with their recommendation I decided to go as well. They were right! They do an amazing job and their technique (silk) is much better than acrylic. Their pedicure chairs are brand new and very comfortable. Their prices are very fair and their staff is very friendly. Came to classy nails because of their great Yelp reviews but I was not impressed. Got a gel manicure for myself and a full set with gel for my friend with me. The ladies were not very friendly and the manicure it's self was sub-par. Soaking and shaping of my nail was not thoroughly done, and the hand massage was under 2 minutes. The "gel acrylic" which was used on my friends nails made her hands burn. When she told this to the nail technician she did not really care. The color I chose looked as expected, but as far as service goes I am not happy. Will not be coming back. read more

I've never actually left a nail salon as happy as I've left Classy Nails today! Everything from the lavender scrub, the amazing massage chair, the hospitality and perfectionism makes this place incredible!!! Eva gave me a nice, detail-oriented pedicure where she took her time to ensure that all of my cuticles were well cut, my nails trimmed and after the massage oil, my feet felt weightless (seriously). When Nina took over to do my gel pedi and mani- she showed me what perfectionism and passion for your job are. She took the time to add two, three coats of polish and apply the clear coat when necessary. She wanted to make sure my design was exactly as I wanted and it came out better than I had ever hoped!! I called the shop before making an appointment. I asked for prices. I arrived at shop sat down they started the pedicure process. Then the prices changed. I was informed gel was an extra 20.00 on top of the lowest price range of 30.00. So the total would be 50.00. Crazy! I settled for original French for7.00. My toe nails ended up being not straight. So the French looked very stupid. The lady was nice she needed practice. The owner was rude!! They also had bugs flying around. I had a terrible experience. I would suggest Top Nails. Extremely happy with my gel manicure and spa pedicure! I made an appointment the same day and left completely satisfied with my nails. There are tons of colors to choose from for both regular and gel polishes. Care was taken to ensure I was happy with both the shape and color of my nails and the attention to detail that they had is something that is lacking from many salons. Nina at Classy Nails is the best! They are a very clean shop and have awesome colors. Great walk in service but it can get busy so I try to call ahead. Nina is awesome and speaks flawless English. Everyone here is so nice and the service was great. I saw a couple men getting pedicures and one child getting a manicure and they were great at explaining to first timers. Love this nail salon. It's so bright and airy. Very clean. Massage chairs are super comfy too. Came with a friend and they allowed her to bring her small doggy which he sat on her lap during the pedi. Nina is great! We didn't bring any cash and she trusted us enough to allowed us to come back and pay the next time we visit. Great customer service! I stopped by here while out of town for a wedding. I was so impressed by the quality of gel manicure I got I had to write a review. Nina was very efficient and thorough with the manicure. I personally like to get gel nails, and the one thing that frustrates me, is that they paint my nails so far from the cuticle so that it looks like I've had them for a week or something. Awesome. Clean, super friendly, considerate, communicative, and overall professional. I recently moved to Monterey, and though I do my own nails most weeks, I occasionally like to treat myself. The ladies here made it well worth it, and it's not that pricey to begin with... $30 for an upgraded pedicure w lavender scrub ($25 regular), $15 for basic manicure. $40 plus like the best of places, it all happens in a nice massage chair, and no appointment needed. I particularly appreciate that they listened to me when I asked them to file in only one direction (rather than back and forth) and not to cut my cuticles. I'll happily be a regular! read more

I came here for the first time last Thursday to get a gel manicure and an eyebrow wax. The manicure was beautiful and is still shiny and spotless a week later. During my wax, the woman tore off a layer of skin underneath my eyebrow while peeling off the wax. I was told it was probably due to my acne medication or from washing my face too much, even though it was only that one section underneath my right eyebrow that got torn away (which is no where near where I apply my acne medication), so I was charged the full price. However, I've been using the same products for awhile now and have had several waxes since I started using them and this was the first time anything like that had ever happened. I called my dermatologist to take a look at it and to give me advice to make sure it wouldn't scab. When I saw her, she said it was a burn caused from the wax being too hot. I put neosporin and aquaphor on it and it seems to have healed up over the past week. I don't think I'll be getting any more waxing done here, it's crazy that I wasn't even offered a discount for having my skin ripped off. The nails I had done were flawless though, and I would highly recommend this place for that purpose. Overall, they were very kind and it was a nice, quiet place when I was there around mid-afternoon. read more
