I visited this spa because I was in terrible chronic pain. It was my first time and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. I had a massage with Alicia and we used hot stones plus CBD which I felt really really helped. Alicia's attention to detail was superb. She took care of my every need and there were more than a few. I will be going back ASAP ! read more

I have come to Amara a few times and always leave extremely relaxed and amazing. I always see Alicia and she does an incredible job and really takes the time to assess my needs, my problem areas, and help focus on those and give excellent recommendations to alleviate some consistent pain. She has many years of experience and you can tell in the way she does the massage. I came in one time with a stiff neck that I couldn't move. I slept on it really wrong and was in an incredible amount of pain. She helped treat me and provided me so much relief. She is very accommodating and attentive to my needs and I always leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. They offer a discount on Mondays for locals and also a monthly subscription plan. Getting consistent massages is key and I highly recommend seeing Alicia. Parking can be tricky on a busy day and the spa is downstairs from International Cafe. The spa is small but cozy and clean. They also have a red light sauna which was amazing. read more

Mia was SO good I didn't realize she had both curled AND tinted my lashes. When she told me she was al done I thought she was going to say, "now we'll do the tint" but she had finished. That plus the comfy warm table made it a wonderful experience. read more

Great staff and location. Did not feel rushed. Will visit again. Hours are great as well and easy to book.

Marketed as a day spa, however it lacked the feel of a traditional day spa. The staff was super friendly. I appreciated how they had you complete a pre-assessment of your needs prior to your treatment and followed through with your requests. We did a couples massage, however their facility cannot accommodate side by side massages, so you will be in separate rooms. There were little to no amenities for before and after treatment, and their bathroom is located in an adjacent office building next door. They're located downstairs in the corner so from the top of the street, you may very well miss it. I wasnt able to locate the parking lot they recommended, however there is a lot of street parking nearby. Overall it was a good experience. We were definitely relaxed afterwards. read more

My daughter and I could not believe the difference in our skin after our facial!! Jennifer is amazing!!! My trip to Amara was an anniversary gift from my husband. I researched many spas and decided on Amara. The questionnaires prior to the visit were great as they help guide my visit. All the therapists had read them and knew my preferences ahead of time, which was a nice touch. Loved how the music was continuous thought out the spa, contributing to the flow of treatments. Everyone had a calm relaxed vibe, even to the extent of speaking in hushed tones. Brandi, Jennifer and Nick(?) were very professional. I left feeling pampered. read more

My skin is so smooth and glowing. Absolutely wonderful facial. Will be going back soon for another facial. You are the best, Jean.

WOW just wow! Please do yourself a favor and get the diamond glow facial with Jen! The waiting area is this beautiful little garden outside where you feel instantly relaxed. Vibes are immaculate here. I suffer from mild rosacea and sensitive skin - Jen immediately knew what to do with my skin and walked me through what I should be adding to my skincare routine. My face feels amazing. I literally feel like a new woman. I'm from sf and will definitely be making the drive just to see Jen. Thank you so much, Jen! read more

Had the seasonal Coastal Currents massage from Alecia B. It was amazingly good. Strong hands worked out stiffness in neck and lower back. Dynamic massage with stretching which I love. Also loved the small touches of aromatherapy sprays; cooling mists; hot towels; eye cover; neck pillow. Clean, soothing setting; very cozy and relaxing. For this area very reasonably priced: $165 for 75 min. They will automatically add 21% gratuity which I was happy to pay. Do check it out and again ask for "Alecia B." She is awesome! Oh and depends on time of day and week whether parking is easy or hard. There is parking all up and down Lighthouse 2 hours free. read more

I really appreciate Alicia at Amara Spa -- she understands that my elderly back and body need gentle, soothing care, not the heavy thumping I've experienced at other spas. Her touch is thoughtful and restorative. Highly recommend! read more

Absolutely one of my favorite day spas and I will 100% be back! Booking online was smooth and easy. The questionnaire they ask you to fill out before your appointment was quick and easy to fill out, and I loved that they asked about things like aromatherapy, what temp you'd like the room for the massage to be, and your pressure preference. The relaxation area outside and the sign to enter quietly really set up the environment and my time here to be as relaxing and peaceful as possible. I was greeted by such kind staff and offered water with collagen while checking in. I got the 1hr relaxation massage and hot oil scalp treatment with Brandi, and she was AMAZING. I've had other massage therapists who have just quickly glanced over the questionnaire or didn't even read it, but I could tell that Brandi read it in depth to really know how to provide me with what I needed. She clarified answers I'd provided and emphasized that she will do her best to create a relaxing experience for me. And she went above and beyond! It was without a doubt one of the best massages I've experienced. She really hit all the points I asked to focus on and found spots I didn't know needed more attention and gave those spots what they needed. The room was exactly as I had requested via the form and the aroma therapy really took it up a notch. Brandi as a person was really gentle and calming, making the experience even more enjoyable! Everything, including gratuity, was paid upfront, making the whole process easy. No need to worry about anything other than the treatment you're booking. I can't wait to come back here for another massage and to try other treatments they offer! Thank you, Amara by the Sea! read more

I just have to recommend this spa in Pacific Grove! So wonderful! As I dreamily watched the ripples of water in the distance in my mind, the scent in the room enveloped my senses and the most exquisite relaxation took hold. The instant you step into this retreat you feel it. The masseuse was very caring and the treatment came with warm towels, warm bedding, and fragrant oils. The room was dimmed with blue lamps and salt rocks. read more

I booked the couples massage which included time in the red light sauna to start and then each of us received a 90 minute massage. It was a great deal. I love that the spa calculates the tip and uses the card on file removing the transactional feeling at the end of a relaxing experience. Elise was my massage therapist and she was a magician. I cannot wait to come back. Her deep tissue technique is the best I've experienced! I've previously come for a 60-minute massage with someone else and that was also excellent. Love this spa, highly recommend. read more

Excellent massage and easy booking online. My favorite massage on the Monterey Peninsula.

Terrible experience with a very unprofessional therapist. I have never experienced a therapist so incapable of listening to the request of the client. Not relaxing, not therapeutic NOT going back. read more

Was craving a last minute facial on a Sunday and was grateful to Yelp for directing me to this gem of a find. Had a 45 minute facial with Selene who was thorough, gentle, and just the relaxation I needed. Skin feels great and glowing. I'll definitely be back when by-the-sea. read more

Treated myself to a massage for my birthday and feel more relaxed than I have in a while! As a wheelchair user I am always looking for accessible locations and not only was it an accessible entrance, but the table lowers so I had an easy time transferring. Brandi did a phenomenal job listening to my requests and provided the massage I needed and wanted. I'll definitely be coming back again! read more

We both had excellent massages, the infrared sauna was a lovely experience, and the desk staff are very helpful.

Amara by the Sea has Excellent customer service, excellent massages, and wonderful ambiance

Alana was very friendly and gave a great massage. I was looking for a deep muscle massage and that's exactly what I got. I have tried several massage therapists in the area and feel like I overpay for what I get but was happy to say that wasn't the case. My body feels great today, much looser and much less tension. I would def come back and recommend. read more

The massages and facials were wonderful. Both therapists were very nice. Would highly recommend this place.

My service was comfortable and I was very relaxed. My skin felt and looked great after my Diamond Glow facial. My Aesthetician (Jen, I think, (I have mom brain)), was very attentive and accommodating to my needs as a breastfeeding mother. And the price point was very affordable, especially in this economy! I will definitely be back again, and am seriously considering getting a membership! read more

The space was soothing and peaceful. My masseuse was very good and asked questions about my needs.

This is a review about Brandi. She is one of the massage therapists at Amara by the Sea. I have seen Brandi twice now and she is without exception one of the best massage therapists I have ever seen. I recently moved to Monterey and spent a lot of time trying to find a new massage therapist. I generally get a massage every few weeks given all the various athletic injuries I have sustained over the years. I am so lucky to have found Brandi. After a 90 minute session with Brandi, I almost feel like I am nineteen again. From now on, I am going to see Brandi once every few weeks. She is simply the best. read more
