Was contemplating on writing this review for a while but its time :'( I used to come here to get my nails done whenever im in town and I never had an issue and always loved how my nails turned out but my past nail tech doesnt work here anymore so they gave me whoever was not working on a client. I asked for my usual shape: skinny coffin and the 1st nail tech said they couldnt do it for me because my natural nails were too small. I NEVER had this problem with any other nail spas I've been to but they let someone else do my nails after applying the tips and I told them again SKINNY COFFIN PLSSSS and then they said they can do it for me my natural nails were not a problem. My 2nd nail tech was nice and we were chatting it up and then she CUT me so bad my right thumb I was bleeding a lot and needed tissues to stop the bleeding. (It's been 2 weeks since and it's fine didn't get infected but healing process was so painful) She had difficulty doing french tips and had to get ANOTHER (3rd one) nail tech to start all over on the simple french tip for EACH nail. At this point I already forgot to remind her again about skinny coffin cuz it was taking so long LMAO. The shape itself is off for one of the fingers, its been only 2 weeks now and one nail is popping off already :/ The only redeeming thing is that they gave me a discount because they cut my thumb. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this salon!! I made an appointment here online the other day (which is super easy, and I got text reminders!) and came in on a Friday afternoon. They were busy but got to work helping me right away. I came for a full set, my first EVER, and I was honestly hella nervous because I didn't really know what to expect. Tina was the one who did my nails and she was beyond sweet and so gentle with me. I wasn't sure about the length and she knew without me saying anything that I was on the fence, and offered to make them a bit shorter. She also did a wonderful job freehanding the leafy design I asked for, based on a reference photo I showed her. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful, and made me feel really welcome. I parked in the garage two blocks away, but depending on when you come, there's a good amount of street parking. Plus, I could not be happier with how STUNNING my nails turned out. I haven't posted a review in a long time, but I just had to for Classy Nail Spa. I came here today for the first time after a disastrous acrylic debacle at my former salon. I have to say that today my nails turned out the best they've ever been, and I've been getting my nails done for 30 years. They are so pretty! For a no frills nail salon, they are the kindest, most accommodating and talented group of technicians I've met in a long time. Classy Nail Spa is conveniently located on Park St in Alameda. Their pricing is competitive with other nail shops in the area and good value for what you get (depending on the nail tech). They prefer cash or Venmo so I'm not sure if they take credit cards. I had a good first impression with a spa pedicure and manicure. They were really thorough with the pedicure and everything turned out well. I noticed that they also did chrome so I noted that for my next visit. As for my last 2 manicures, the service dropped as I went with different technicians each time. I wanted chrome gel polish on my natural nails and both times had issues with them actually getting the correct color. This most recent visit a few weeks ago, my tech started painting a completely different chrome color and I politely stopped her after 2 nails to let her know. She shook her head at me and tsk'ed and didn't communicate with me but rather with the lady who helped grabbed the color for her. That lady came over and insisted that was the color I picked until I got the sample nail color and showed her the number and they flipped the lid on the powder and found the numbers didn't match :( She retrieved the correct color. My tech seemed very frustrated as she continued. I pointed out that there was a scratch on one nail and another tech had to come and fix it while my tech calmed down. After all that, I still left with a scratch on one nail because it took 1 hr 45 min for this manicure and I couldn't sit there for any longer. Throughout the service, I really asked as nicely as possible so I didn't understand their reactions. Y'all know how much we pay to get our nails done and I just want to be treated respectfully. Unfortunately due to the service issues, I won't be returning to this spot. read more

Lani is an absolute gem! So these are my real nails, I have never gotten a full set acrylic (although my matte pink pinky was acrylic since I broke it on Christmas lol oops). I didn't want the white and silver glitter, I wanted pink glitter instead and picked it out as shown in my photo. I chose all my colors and it came out so clean. Lani really took her time and very obviously cared about the quality of her work. She was meticulous with every aspect, making sure all my nails were filed evenly, the colors were what I wanted, and that the glitter was uniform across my nails and didn't look sparsely applied. I've gotten gel manicures in the past that resulted in little bubbles, the edges still glossy while the rest of the nail was matte, uneven glitter application, etc. I came first thing on a Sunday morning at opening (10am), no appointment. They sat me right away for my gel manicure and regular pedicure. Everything went well, absolutely zero complaints on my end. :-) All the ladies were really friendly and wished me a Happy New Year, and I got compliments on how nice my natural nails were. I paid $72 altogether for the gel mani and regular pedi, obviously cost a bit more due to the gems and matte top coat, etc. I thought this price was more than fair for the quality of the work. I tried tipping Lani as well as the 2 others who worked on my nails, to which Lani insisted I keep and to just tip the other 2, despite my persistence to tip all 3 of them. Love love love! PRO TIP: Go park on Park AVENUE by the park across from KFC. They nearly always have parking available (and it's free) and a very short walk away. WHEN: Thursday @ 1pm Im giving this place another chance since my last visit. My aunt booked an appt for me with Ngu. When I arrived, I don't think it was Ngu who did my nails. My aunt specially asked for Ngu to do my nails bc she's her nail technician. I was kinda disappointed she didn't do my nails. I got gel polish removed, regular polish mani and pedi. The total was $45 which isn't that bad. I'm unsure how much each service costs, it certainly raised during the pandemic inflation. My mani and pedi nail technicians are very good. I've always liked the nails I get when I come here, but the fake reservation system they have is really frustrating and today it messed up a special outing I had planned with my kids. I called for an appointment for 3 pedicures together and was told they could accommodate us at 3:00 today. When I arrived, they had 3 seats but not together and no available technicians to start on all 3 of us. So now my 10 year old is getting a pedicure by themselves while my other kid and I wait for 30-45 mins for other technicians to be available. They said they didn't know about the appointments because the manager went home. If they don't do appointments, they should just say that. I've often had to wait a while before my appointment but figured that was just life...but for this, I wanted something specific they said they could definitely do. Would not come again. Like many of you, I was influenced by the good ratings. However my experience did not match the reviews. 1. The man was so rough with my nails when removing my old gel nails. I could physically feel each scrape as he pushed the tool across my nails-it was horrifying to watch and physically so hard to bare. 2. The lady who did my manicure accidentally pulled off too much skin from 2 of my fingers which lead to minor bleeding twice-she apologized sincerely which I appreciated. But for a 4 star rated place I expected a bit more 3. I showed them a picture of the color I wanted and I also tried to physically describe the color as "clear pink" color. The colors they picked did not match the one I wanted-however they insisted it was so I trusted their judgement (I should have trusted my gut because that wasn't the right color). Overall experience i feel like my natural healthy physical nails have been severely damaged. And although the color turned out nice (hence the 2 stars) this was not what I requested for. I came here to get my nails done before leaving town for a conference and unfortunately I was disappointed. I normally get the SNS dip powder to help protect my nails. After visiting this salon, one of my nails broke all the way down to the meat of my finger and another chipped within a week of getting them done - mind you these were my actual nails and not tips. Additionally, the dip on 3 of my nails lifted from my actual finger and it caused a lot of discomfort. As mentioned I normally use dip and have never experienced these problems before, particularly with a week of getting them done. I also noticed for their dip system, they don't apply the natural set powder prior to dipping in the color. This is a step that all the other nail salons I've been to have done and I've also read on the dip powder manuals that it should be done prior to the color step. Maybe if they did, the nail would have lasted longer. Who knows but I will not be coming back. In terms of the experience at the salon, it seemed they were understaffed. One person started my nails by letting them soak in an acetone bowl, then left to start someone else's gel set (which can take 30-45 minutes). Needless to say I sat that entire time, with my nails in acetone, waiting for them to finish with the other persons nails, just for another person to come and do mine. Every time I took my nails out of the acetone, because it's so unhealthy to keep them soaking for an extended time, another person would come tell me to put them back in. There were also 2 women who came in to complain their nails had broken within the week as well, so maybe this should have been a sign. UPDATE: I'm at a new nail salon now and she informed me that whatever they did to my nail it was done incorrectly and it caused discoloration if my actual nail. This is beyond ridiculous read more

I did business with this salon for a couple of years bc I liked the way Vaungie (sp) did my nails; she took a leave of absence and her sister, Rose did my nails. Got a few pedicures here just didn't do it for me and that's okay, my feet, let's just say it's complicated, so it takes a special nail tech to work that out. I'm so disappointed in my experience here. I had an 11am appointment with a friend. She arrived at 11:00 and I arrived at 11:05, so I'll take responsibility for showing up 5 min late. That however does not mean the nail tech should have sat me in a chair with my feet in water for 10 min while the person that was actually going to do my nails was wrapping up. My pedicure after that went well except I was concerned with the fact that the tools come in an unsealed bag. I can't say if they were sterilized or not. I got my nails and eyebrows cleaned up and that's when the trouble started. My nails.. they're ok. Shaping can be improved but I have a glitter polish so that makes it a little easier to hide. I'm upset at how damaged my cuticles are after the nail drill and file. They're peeling now from the tool trauma. The worst part is my eyelid was burned by the wax and the tech had the nerve to tell me my skin was sensitive. I've been waxed, threaded and plucked before. I know what feels sensitive and what is a burn. I have two important events this week and now may potentially have a scar on my face from this place. To boot the baby hairs she was trying to remove are still there! If you like being shuffled around like cattle and treated like just money (they up charge services other salons generally include in the price. Like scrubbing the soles of your feet), this is the place for you. Nail salons are busy, so they don't care about return business. It pains me to write this review because I truly loved this salon. I have been coming to them for at least a year consistently. Lovely women. But today changed my entire perspective. I had a pedicure today at the shop and a white woman came in with a pissy attitude (disclaimer I am black). As they were doing my toes the woman said, "um I had an appointment at 3:30" they lady doing my nails told her to wait a few minutes. The other woman didn't like that and started hugging and puffing. Do you know, the lady doing my toes stopped to do that girl's nails. I had to wait an hour in the chair for her to finish and get back to me even though I was there first. My nails were decently priced, I'd think, about $55. Kevin did a really good job in telling me if my inspiration photos would look good or not in real life, and the end result was very nice! I was extremely impressed. Only reason why I knocked off a star was because it took kind of long, and I thought I asked for gel extensions but he gave me acrylics instead with gel polish. When the pedicurist finished, she told me it would only be a few more minutes, and I told her this was unprofessional and that I will not be coming back. Came in 30 min before closing, sat my friend and me down at the pedicure chairs. We requested gel manicures with chrome nails on just one finger each hand! Felt a bit rushed but makes sense since we walked in pretty late. Still did a pretty good job, Julie (I believe that's how you spell her name) was the one who painted my nails. She was really nice and sweet. Nails feel a little thick, but still pretty good for a quick one. Don't know the name of the other nail tech but she was pretty annoyed and seemed impatient with us when we were deciding our nail color. I didn't feel quite comfortable with the way she treated my friend when she pushed her cuticles back roughly after my friend said she didn't want them cut. Overall I'd give my nail tech a 4/5, and the other a 3/5, I feel like most places don't really have super nice nail techs LOL.
