OK. Update time. After leaving my initial review, I was contacted by a very apologetic owner and I agreed to hear her out. She asked to come by and let her give me another quote so I figured no harm and had her come by. She arrived with a note and flowers, again apologizing for the experience I had with the other employee. She quickly went through and provided another quote with a much better deal. I decided to go ahead and give them my business. Pros this time: - Kate was very friendly and did a quick but thorough job when she came to estimate the job. - The actual installation was really quick each time. - The closets turned out great. One was a whole wall of mirrored closets. The other was a small, odd shaped closet in a guest room that she ended up putting cabinet-like doors on. Both are super functional and aesthetically pleasing. Cons this time: - Her guys who knocked out the existing closet made a quarter size ding in my hard floor. They didn't mention it when it happened and filled it in with some kind of crayon-y thing that easily comes off. I didn't notice until later and when I brought it up, it was brushed off and I was told I "have to live with it". - Their contract says they will "touch up the holes left (during tear out) and spackle" but they did not do this for me. I had to pay someone to do that and paint the entire wall. Their contract does, however, state that they don't provide whole-wall painting. I do think they should have touched up the holes left from tear out before I payed someone to paint, though. - The two closets were done on two different dates, weeks apart. It would have been much more convenient if they were done on the same day. read more

I contacted Classy Closets based on their good Yelp reviews. My husband and I were interested in a custom sliding door for our master bedroom. Prior to contacting Classy Closets, we contacted other companies. Tui came to our home to take measurements of our closet. From the moment she stepped into our home she was rude, disrespectful and very condescending. She was also 7 minutes late to our appointment. My husband and I are very nice people and we've had many contractors come to our home in the past and we have never been treated the way she treated us. For instance, I told Tui that I wanted 3 sliding doors for our closet and she looked at me like why would I ever want that. She then showed us samples of the frame finish and we liked the brushed nickel. She said that it was too expensive implying that it was out of our budget. I don't know if she was judging us because we are a young married couple living in Mira Mesa but it surely seemed like it. I then asked her if she had a glass sample of the sliding door and she looked at me like I was crazy. She replied, "I don't have that much room in my car to bring that around." She thought that I meant the whole closet door. Really now? How dumb can you be?! I said sample not the whole closet door! She just showed us samples of the frame finish so I assumed she had samples of the closet door. I was ready to kick her out of our home and my husband could see how furious I was. She also had NO knowledge of the closet door system she was selling. Any questions we had for her she had to call Gary. She must have called him 3 to 4 times. One of the questions I had for her was if they had a slow closing mechanism for their closet doors. Again, she looked at me like I was insane and stupid. She said, "I've never heard of that. I don't think that's possible." I responded by explaining that we went to California Closets last week and they did have that slow closing mechanism. She had to call Gary and ask him and he said yes it's possible but they don't provide it since there's been a lot of issues with it. My husband and I decided to go with another company based on the poor customer service we received from Tui. She did not represent Classy Closets very well and left a sour taste in our mouths. We decided to do business with The Sliding Door Company. The representative at this other company treated us with the utmost respect and also let us take home SAMPLES of both the frame finish and closet door material. Tui has been calling me for the past couple of days and I haven't been answering her calls. Her voice mails are very nice and polite...but it's a little too late for that. I hope she doesn't treat any other customers the way she treated us. read more

We recently decided to build out our closets but had no idea who to use. After researching YELP and other online sources, we narrowed our choice of closet organizer companies down to four, including classy closets. Had reps from all four over to give us estimates and weigh in on the designs. We had 3 reach in closets and one walk in to remodel. Being a former researcher, I can assure you our vetting process was very thorough. We ultimately chose Classy Closets. Our designer Kate was wonderful to work with. She had terrific ideas that really supplemented what my wife and I had in mind. The process from selection, design, build, and follow up was flawless. They exceeded our expectations in every way. One example was that the job was supposed to take two days and they finished in one. Classy closets also worked with us on price and beat Closet World even after the Costco discount and gift card CW provides. They matched a special offer California Closets had going, which was any finish for the same price as white. Our experience from beginning to end simply could not have been better, and we're very appreciate to Classy Closets for the excellent work and service. Very disappointed with their services. When Kate came over I signed contract with clear instruction in writing to maximize use of my closet space as we have no other storage space without negotiating the price. I had two closets shelving and door installed. This company installed 12" shelving in 24" space. Master closet that is 18 feet wide, Kate promise to replace existing drawer unit with custom design unit with better access through triple door system. Well their expert installer messed that by off centering from middle , now it's accessible only one way and again 12" depth in 24" deep space. So they totally failed on there so called custom designing and installation. When complained they refuse to do anything to master closet but did change shelving to 18" in guest closet. I thought custom designing will give better usage of space. But they failed to meet our needs as they promised. Just want to make sure Shawn's closet door's will be on 3 or 4 tracks for easy access and Stability. A few weeks later Her crew came in and I powered out our closet in about 4 hours (16x6 feet, not small). It looks exactly like the sketch! Perfect, quality and reasonably priced. I have had my new closet and pantry for about 2 months now and I am still pinching myself. I had without a doubt the worst closet on the planet with one tiny rod and no shelves. My pantry had no shelves so I was using the plastic shelves from the hardware store. I called Kate, embarrassed by what she had to face just getting measurements. With a few inputs of my wants and needs, Kate designed the most awesome master closet, hall closet and pantry I could ever imagine, beyond what I had dreamed I would ever own. Classy Closets is the only closet company I trust. Kate did her magic with this very odd-shaped closet, gave me more room plus thought of things that I NEVER would have. For example I wanted more shoe shelves and she explained to me that since I am only 5'1" putting the shoe shelves up high made no sense. It is this attention to detail that made me so happy. Then the installation gentlemen came and they were polite, fast, friendly and the installation went spectacularly. And I only had one tiny closet to do (compared to other jobs that were probably significantly more profitable for Classy Closets) but I was treated as a VIP. After the installation was done, I asked Kate for a small addition (another shelf) and she volunteered to bring it to me herself. Amazing from beginning to end. This is a preliminary review, since Classy Closets will not be doing our closets until December 11 and it contains both good news and cautionary notes, if you are considering using them. First, the good news. They responded almost immediately to my calls, sent a representative out the next day and the representative, Margo, sent me a quote will full drawings and details within 24 hours of the visit. In contrast, I had to make repeated calls to the other closet companies, the representatives did not show up for weeks and I had to harass them to get quotes. Now, for the cautionary note. Margo, who has been my point person through this experience, warned me that they were booked out about three weeks when I signed the contract in mid-October. The date she gave me was November 6 and unfortunately, that date did not work, since we had to go out of town on that day. Finding another date that works has been incredibly hard, since Classy Closet is either extremely busy and/or has only a couple of work crews. If you are in a hurry to get your closets done and don't have lots of open dates, you should try to nail a couple of dates down, just in case. We are now scheduled for December 11, which is unfortunate, since we have guests coming for Thanksgiving and no closet space to offer them. I will update this review, once the work has been done. Update on 12/21/17: The closets are now installed and I was impressed with both the installer and installation. The work for meticulously done, the installer cleaned up after his work and the closets look great. On one of the cabinets, we (not Classy Closets) made a mistake in pushing for a design feature (the drawers were too high on one closet) and Classy Closets has said that they will try to come back and move the cabinet drawer done. We were turning a extra room into a boutique closet so it needed to be functional but most importantly look really good. Jaye was so patient with me! It took me 3-4 months to design, go back and forth, measure and have her come out and she was amazing the whole process. Miriam at Classy Closets was great to work with. She and the installers made what I thought was going to be a complicated process easy and quick, and the end product is exactly what I was hoping for. We removed a wall and created a built in chest of drawers at the end of our reach in closet. It gave us a much better use of space in our tiny Clairemont home. Miriam knew exactly what I was going for, communication was easy and on point. The installers were fabulous, on time, worked efficiently and cleaned everything up including the driveway where they were cutting pieces for the install. They did bring the wrong door for a small cabinet, but came out within 48 hours with the right doors. They also brought additional shelves I had requested and left me with some molding pieces so that I could finish up adjacent areas. Miriam followed up after the install to make sure I was happy with the work. The whole experience was easy and expectations were thoroughly met. Their pricing was also very reasonable. They remodeled 3 closets, installed a trash receptacle in a kitchen cabinet , and installed a Murphy bed in an office! The whole process was seamless and fun and I enjoyed working with every single person throughout the process. I was looking to transform a spare room into a closet and received multiple quotes from various companies. I worked with Katia on the design and she was amazing - super responsive, professional and fun to work with. She delivered a great design which included everything I wanted and Classy closets beat other companies on price. I also liked the fact that they were a local company and manufactured everything in house. We went to their showroom before signing the contract and they explained us all tiny details and provided some good recommendations. My timeline for installation was initially July but the closet got built faster so they were able to install it 1 month earlier (which made me very happy!). The lady that came here had a snotty attitude, I agreed to go with her plan on our new construction guest house closets .The hardware is the cheapest garbage you can buy !! Her Ideas for color was terrible looking I ended up having my cabinet maker make new drawer front and threw there crap in the trash !! Now that I live here with there cheap crap I have many regrets. In our main house we used our cabinet guy to design and fabricate much better quality components and material for almost the same price!! Don"t waste your money get real cabinet makers to make your closet interiors and won"t regret my advise. read more

This morning as I was putting clothes in one closet I realized that I have had not written a promised review of Classy Closets and that it has been almost 9 months since they were installed. Here is my review: Choose Classy Closets! I have a decent size condo in North County but the storage space is limited, or rather WAS limited. Last Fall, I started researching custom closets. Between on-line, do-it-yourself closets (which I knew I wouldn't have the time for, and would probably mess up, since this old condo's right angles are few and far between) and the two big closet companies that I see advertising in junk mail (whose reviews made me cautious), I started looking at local vendors. Just a note,...ALL the local vendors beat the prices of the two big name vendors (California something, Closet something...) and Classy Closets beat them all. After several quotes and home visits from several, local companies, all of whom were really good and professional, I chose Classy Closets and have been happy since. My condo had limited storage, now it has amble storage. Brooke, who designed, quoted, and coordinated the closets and installation was very personable, patient, attentive to detail, prompt, and organized. Best of all, she was not pushy at all. Todd and Jenna on the day of the install, arrived at my door at 9am, the time agreed upon. They were actually parked about 10 ten minutes early and rang the doorbell at 9am exactly. They removed and disposed of my old closets with great care, repainted needed areas (with paint I provided as agreed upon), and finished the installation of the new closets in a master and side bedroom in less time than anticipated. They were incredibly courteous and obviously mindful of being in a customers home, as they continually cleaned along the way. When they departed, both bedrooms were probably cleaner than they were when they arrived, and the closets looked amazing. They did encounter the lack of right angles in one of my closets but Todd and Jenna were able to come up with solutions that worked aesthetically and functionally. I've had vendors and contractors in my condos before, but Todd and Jenna were the best. Thank you!!! The people at Classy Closets do amazing work and ensured I was satisfied from the very first phone call to the time Todd and Janna left. Thank you for reading this long review. Kate and her crew are absolutely great. I reached out to about four companies, including Classy Closets (CC), when shopping for our custom closet and custom office (office being the more difficult project of the two). Kate responded quickly to my initial inquiry with digital mockups of her design / proposal, and the others just seemed lazy with half done hand drawn mock ups, etc. I chose to go with CC and never looked back, and I am so happy that I did. My office is absolutely beautiful and came out much better then I imagined when I started this process. Kate really came through. Furthermore, they were very flexible with scheduling, as we had a small hiccup (my fault) and they worked around it and finished the job in a timely manner. Would love to give them more stars because we do like our closets but the customer service leaves too much to be desired. We've had a few issues post-installation and cannot even get a response (after repeated follow ups) let alone a solution, which has left us beyond disappointed in the final product and process. Would look elsewhere next time. UPDATE: Gary from Classy Closets reached out and personally a) apologized for the lack of customer service we had experienced and b) came out to repair the issue at-hand himself and acknowledged that the lack of response was unacceptable and not their standard. I found Classy Closets on Yelp and called them to schedule a consultation/estimate appointment at our house two days later. Jaye showed up and we spent about an hour going over my needs and ideas. Jaye communicated with me through email and over the phone very professionally and promptly. She came up with a design and we went back and forth several times to get the final details just right. Jaye has been very patient despite the many changes we discussed and most importantly she stayed very sensitive to my budget. We did the demo on a Friday so that we could paint our closets over the weekend and then the install happened on Monday and Tuesday. Our install crew was very professional and respectful of our home and cleaned up any mess they made. The crew of 4 the first day included Jenna and Todd, you can tell that they really like what they do and care for their quality of work, which is so refreshing! I am super happy with the quality of the product, I would not have done anything differently. I know we have maximized our space for our needs. I am also very happy with the style, which is not too modern. Now all I need to add is an accent rug and maybe a chandelier to tie it all together. I would recommend classy closets in a heartbeat, actually I might consider them when I get to my walk in pantry project. read more

Contacted these people to come by and quote me for new doors and a closet cabinetry. Kate (part owner) showed up about 20 minutes late. She was very friendly, and knew exactly what needed to give me the right closet according to what I already store in there. She was suppose to email me a quote with two designs and start the work soon after. After about two weeks I called them back wondering if they had the wrong email just in case. Kate said she just didn't have the chance to get back to me yet, but would by the end of the week. I called after that week, and Kate blew me off again saying she was going on vacation and would get back to me when she got back. I never heard from them since. I too had a somewhat similar experience that Angela had below. I actually almost asked Tui to leave a few tines. It was the end of the day and I live in east county so I know what traffic can be like coming from Escondido. However as frustrated as I was getting with some of her questions I realized that there was a method to what she was asking however there were some condescending remarks that I didn't think we're something you should say in front of a customer and being that I'm a customer service rep I know what to do and what not to say however I let her continue and the drawing she came up with was exactly what I wanted that was within my budget. And the longer she was here the more comfortable I was feeling and she seemed to relax and was quite a bit nicer seagate me her bed as promised the next morning and was actually a very reasonable price and she even worked with me a little bit. closet was installed today the two guys did an awesome job and I'm very happy with my choice I would recommend them. honestly half of the reason I decided to go with class because it was because of the very positive Yelp reviews Just remembered- gary, the installed had parked next to a car, which is fine, however they were sawing some of the wood and the car was covered in sawdust. I did some research prior to choosing Classy Closets. I made my decision based on Yelp reviews and I am happy I did. Sean was quickly responsive to all of my questions and made sure we were happy with the design prior to placing the order. I was happy to have the chance to make design decisions and ultimately end up with exactly what I had envisioned. The price was beyond reasonable for company prices and even in comparison to free-standing bookcases sold online. I have to commend Hernando, the installer, for doing such a wonderful job on the installation. He worked alone and I am amazed that there is not a single defective detail in the construction. He laid out a canvas sheet on the wood floors to avoid any damage, he was organized, and cleaned up at the end. The bookcase came out perfect! Not much more I can add.
