Still a bit stunned by what happened at this restaurant today. When we lived and worked in the S. Metro, this was a place we'd frequent regularly, so I was excited to try it again after so many years. Whenever I am in the Twin Cities, I try my best to visit places that I used to frequent regularly, like this place. My first hint that something was amiss was walking into a nearly empty restaurant a bit before noon, which seemed unusual because this place used to do a booming lunch. Anyway, an Asian fellow seated me, and after awhile he came to take my order. I ordered the chicken & vegetable combo, which included an egg roll and rice. Since I used to LOVE their egg rolls, I ordered a separate order along with a coke and water. Well, the water never came, and the coke arrived in a dirty can without a straw or glass with ice. The meal came, and the egg rolls were just like the old days...delicious. I immediately told him the chicken had an unpleasant "fishy" taste, and he said "what do you expect, it was cooked with Oyster Sauce"...which was never indicated on the menu and is a big concern for anyone with shell fish allergies, which luckily I don't. Then he added, "the other fellow there (while pointing to a man in the corner) is having the exact same thing, and he likes it." Well, I don't, what options do I have, I asked? "There is nothing I can do because we are a small business and we'd go out of business replacing food." At this point I asked for the manager, and he said "he's not here, I am the manager". He kept repeating "I am not going out of business replacing food". I finished my egg rolls (leaving the complete meal on the table) then went to pay. At this point I told him that I'd been coming here since the year 2000 and I've never been treated this way. This restaurant is good. While I do agree with the other review in that they try to do too much, I feel if you stay away from Americanized type dish's(you'll know it when you see it, stuff you find in any chinese buffet), you will be rewarded with great food. Pho here is comparable to any you find on eat street or university ave. It is good and the main thing I eat when I come here. I've eaten Pho at every place in the TC area I can find. It is good here. I've also had their hotpot. Fantastic. A wee bit pricey compared to their other stuff but when compared to, say, a steak somewhere the price is in line. A good restaurant. Unless you are determined to drive 20 miles away so you can tell everyone you're a trendy foodie on eat street, there is no reason to not come here. read more

With all of the Vietnamese restaurants I have tried in the Dakota County area, this is probably the best. So if you don't want to drive 20-25mins to St.Paul or Minneapolis for a bowl of pho, spring rolls, or anything Vietnamese I suggest going here. The food is ok, but it is a little more on the authentic side than many of the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I suggest skipping out on: -the chicken wings (I found them to be flavorless and too greasy) -koai tay xau thit bo aka deep fried potatoes w/beef stir fry (the potatoes are soggy and they should be crunchy! Go to Kim Son in Bloomington for this dish.) -bun bo hue aka beef, pig's knuckles, and vermicelli noodles in spicy broth (the broth isn't good here. try it at Tay Ho off University Ave. in St. Paul) Wasn't bad: -pho tai bo vien aka rice noodles beef shank and meatballs in broth (it wasn't too bad for it being restaurant made) -bun suon aka vermicelli noodles w/pork chops and fish sauce (but really if a Vietnamese restaurant messes this dish up they shouldn't be calling themselves Vietnamese) -cha gio aka pork eggrolls (these were my favorite) Price is affordable, service was great, and food was okay, but then again of course no one can beat mom's authentic Viet cooking! read more

I love Vietnamese food and had a huge craving for pho after hiking. Classic Saigon popped up as the closest one and we were there within minutes. We ordered two orders of spring rolls. The spring rolls were decent. However, the dipping sauce was watered down. I had to add additional hoisin to it revive the favor. Okay the main course! Pho dac biet. Broth favoring 2/5. My friend agreed with me on this one. Compared to Quang's in Uptown, this broth was not as good. Extra hoisin and sirarcha had to be utilized. The noodles were decent. Meat portions were small. For $9.99, the portions should've been bigger. Parking was easy and plentiful and service was good. I wished I liked this place more but I will go elsewhere for my pho. read more

Though my first experience to this restaurant was very poor as our table was not attended to and we left after waiting for sometime, I went to their business again albeit begrudgingly. Much to my surprise the service was very swift considering we were the only people there. The hostess was friendly and helpful, brought the food out pretty fast and the food tasted really great. I have been going to this place since before it relocated to the Town Center area. It used to be part of a strip near Cedarvale Lanes. The new spot looks really nice compared to what it used to be, though I wouldn't even say there was anything that bad about the previous spot. It just looks newer and bigger now which is always an improvement whatever way you look at it. This is where I usually go when I don't want to drive to Minneapolis or Saint Paul to get pho-(I reside in Apple Valley). The quality and taste of the food satisfies at just the right price and without a far drive to separate me from it, my return is always inevitable. I must say I also enjoy that they show pictures of their various dishes on the walls. They help to increase my level of appetite every time I look them over while waiting. =P It's never been very busy whenever I go so I just hope that business isn't suffering for them. The owners seem like really sweet people and service has never left me malcontented. I can't really speak to many of the other menu items aside from pho and cha gio since those are what i always get. Nor can i make any confident claims regarding the authenticity being that I'm not Vietnamese, though I've eaten a shit ton of pho from a lot of different places if that means anything. My boyfriend, however, loves to come here too and he is Vietnamese (pretty fresh off the boat too might i add) so I like to think that counts for something. read more

After reading the reviews. I was hesitant to try this place. But because it was close to the hotel I was staying at. I figured I'd give it a shot. I've got to say. This place was one of the absolute WORST Pho restaurants that I have ever visited. It started out when I walked in. It was a Saturday afternoon around 2P. There was no one behind the desk. No one waiting tables. No one in sight. Looking around. I could see tons of tables covered in empty bowls. Kind of like a heard of elephants came in and ate, then quickly all got up and left right after. None of the tables were cleared off. I should have left right then and there... But, hungry for Pho. I sat down and waited for about 5 minutes.... Waiting for someone to appear to seat me. Finally, someone came. I ordered beef and meatball Pho ($9.34) and let me tell you. There were hardly any noodles in the bowl (which was fairly large). There were about 5 pieces of meat, which included the meatballs. I expected they'd skimp on meat. But noodles too? Wow... complete udder disgrace... The chopsticks were fat wooden ones and were dirty. No duck spoon to drink the soup. This was the first occasion that I've ever eaten Pho with a fork and American spoon. What a total disappointment. I would agree with the other's who've left reviews of this place. I would not recommend it. Even if you're hungry for Pho. You will leave disappointed. read more

Went there for lunch and while the food took quite awhile to come out - and there was only one server - which was okay - it was really, really good. I got steamed shrimp with onions and ginger and it was light and the flavors were heavenly. Everyone else at the table got the walleye with some variation. The singapore sauce was definitely the best - and steamed - not fried, although the fried was done very nicely as well. I got the hot and sour soup - it was nice, well done. And we also had spring rolls and egg rolls. It all seemed to be hand made - I thought they were some of the best eggrolls I've had - and I don't typically favor eggrolls. The spring rolls were well done - not the best ever, but still pretty tasty. I had a craving for Pho after being sick for about a week. I didn't want to make the drive to Minneapolis where we usually go for Pho. I always like trying new places, and figured we'd try this place out since it's across the street from our apartment. The restaurant was a little dark, and had no employees, I think it was just the owner working. We always order egg rolls, and they were decent but not worth the price. The pho was mediocre, had decent broth though. They literally put no meat at all, and why are the meatballs sliced like pepperoni? They also had no traditional soup spoons for Pho, the ones that are like a mini ladle, so I couldn't enjoy the broth. Chopsticks were warped and could barely grab anything with them. Honestly a disappointing visit for overpriced pho that wasn't even worth the money. read more

I thought I would stop in for lunch here because I had read some good reviews. Maybe they specialize in Pho, or maybe they were having a bad day. Whatever the reason, I was not impressed at all. I had one of the lunch specials, curry chicken with white rice and an egg roll. $7.50 The rice had bits of hard, dry rice in it, the egg roll was greasy and lacked ingredients and the fish sauce tasted watered down. The chicken curry was mostly onions and bamboo shoots in a greasy, weak curry sauce. I could have better food at any Asian buffet place around for the same money. I will not be back. read more

Pretty good. Tried out for the first time with a coworker for lunch. We arrived and it wasn't too busy, but started to pick up right after we arrived. I ordered us some egg rolls to share while he got the hot and sour soup. The egg rolls were delicious - crispy, hot and tasty. I ordered the garlic pork and he got a noodle bowl. We both liked our food. I had a good portion of pork and it had good taste, but I'm not sure it was worth the $11 I paid. I think it's a little steep. It was only pork and rice, no veggies or sauce. The service lacked somewhat. We got our food and check way after people who came in after us. I noticed they have lunch specials on the wall but they weren't labeled or advertised by the server. Don't believe the server when he exaggerates about how awesome the food is. Get in your car and drive to Minneapolis. The egg rolls, and besides looking unappetizing, are way over-salted and greasy. The spring rolls (in most restaurants I've been to, they're called summer rolls) were packed mostly with vermicelli noodles and tasted like nothing. Also, I could be wrong but their dipping sauces do not taste homemade. The pho was okay, but not good enough to hit the spot. Needed a pho fix while away on vacation. Yelp took me to this place. Faculty is clean enough. Staff friendly and attentive. I was the only customer there for a long time. I got their special pho. Broth: light, flavourful yet not greasy. Noodles: taste like it had just came out of the fridge, little "stiff". Toppings: I wish they had more of the regular variety as they only gave rare beef, meat balls, brisket. I never got water or asked if I want water or anything else to drink. Took about 40 minutes for the #90 which is the Special Pho and Spicy and Hot Wings. The Pho only had beef, meatballs, and pork. Nothing authentic about it at all. It didn't have anything else it was suppose to! Pork isn't even in the description yet it was included, had I known I wouldn't have ordered it. For the wait on the Pho , I'd never do it again. The wings were not hot or spicy just oily and red. Not tasteful or seasoned. We come here every couple months when we're in the area and craving some noodles or rice (but try to make it a point to eat here more often). The owner, Andy, who has been there serving on his own every time we've visited (except one time during the day when his daughter was serving), always recognizes us and remembers our order, even if we have not visited for several months. He also knew that the people sitting at the table next to us enjoy their pho extra hot. Even though he serves alone he does a great job of keeping up with all the guests, checking on their food and refilling their beverages, and having fun conversations. The seating area is quite large and rarely more than a third full (but they have a busy takeout business) so long waits are not a concern. As for the food, we've had about a dozen different options and they've all been fantastic, some of the best I've had in the Cities. My wife loves their pho; we've had a lot of it around the area and it is her favorite (I also enjoy it but there are a couple other places that I enjoy the pho as well). The broth has great depth and clean finish. Their other dishes are great; even though it is a Vietnamese restaurant they serve some of my favorite Chinese dishes. The sesame chicken is the best I've had, very crispy and not too sweet. We also love the Vietnamese egg rolls, beef and fried potatoes, butter chicken, and others. When my wife or I are having a bad day I know that a trip to Classic Saigon will brighten our day. read more

The server was very rude. He doesn't talk to you but he will aggressively hit the table to "get your attention" instead of using words. My serve also didn't speak English very well, was very hard to understand. They don't want to give you napkins and tell you the napkin that silverware is rolled in is enough. If a customer knows that they have one napkin sitting on the table and they ask you for another that means give it to them not point out that they already have 1 single napkin that was used for the silverware. Chicken pho has like tiny pieces of chicken in it. The place also stinks like water-pipe damage. There are dozens of places that give you bigger portions when you order pho anyway. I don't know much about Vietnamese food, but I thought the food here was pretty good. I got #133 (Classic Saigon) - it had a great mix of vegetables, meat, and fish. The sauce was pretty tasty, and the noodles were delicious. My boyfriend got chicken curry - not Vietnamese, pretty sure - but it was delightfully spicy and really good. The wait staff and the owner were really friendly and the service was great. The particular night I was here (Friday), they had a live musician, which was a pleasant surprise. I think the decor could be a bit better, but the ambiance doesn't matter to me if the food is good and cheap - which it definitely was! read more
