I'm always trying to find a good bakery to buy birthday cakes and glad I was able to find Classic Bakery! The bakery's interior was modern and clean. We purchased their signature fruit cake which is vanilla cake with strawberry cream filling. We asked them to write 'happy birthday' on it and the writing came out beautifully! I really want to like this place but every time I come here I get rude customer service. I asked if they had the pistachio diamond shaped and before I could finish the girl goes "what are you talking about?" Ok... the baklava I remember now but is that how you talk to a customer? Then she gets my order and rudely imply that I pointed to a different pastry when I meant something else. Just being rude for no reason. Did no one teach her customer service? She isn't serving one of her friends. I really love the Gaithersburg one so I'm really disappointed in this location. read more

They have solid coffee and good sandwich options. The only problem is the service. They just aren't equipped to handle food orders in a timely manner. I've ordered a sandwich before and waited 25 minutes and they got the order wrong. It also wasn't busy so I don't know what the issue was. They have a good space with good products but they need to figure out how to handle orders quicker and develop better service. Currently they're seriously lacking in that department. read more

I honestly have given up on this place having been countless of times and leaving disappointed each and every time. The online orders are never made on time and you end up having to wait in store or they only start making your drinks when get there. Not to mention how bland they come out tasting. I have also tried a couple of breakfast items on the menu but each time at least one or more ingredients are missing that are already paid for but you are never made aware of it or given any sort of refund. As an update to my original review, I gave Classic Bakery another shot. I popped in for a quick afternoon snack and I immediately noticed a difference. There are NO pastries in the open. Everything nice and need and enclosed/covered. Signs were added to easily identify items. EXCELLENT!! The staff was friendly and jovial. I was welcomed with smiles. Honestly, I would really like to give them 5 stars, because I did like their cakes. But they have screwed up my order twice for my major events. My most recent order was for my daughter's first birthday, the cake was not ready and came 3 hours late for the party. On top of that, it was not what we ordered. The filling was completely different than what we had asked for. My first order they forgot to send us the complete order that we paid for in advance, again for a party. So I would suggest to not order from here for your major events but maybe go eat their for a quick bite. I hope they improve on their service and take their customer orders seriously. read more

Happened upon this bakery after having had dinner in the area. Very good, high quality pastries, very large selection. Has a small seating area where you can eat them right away. I'm new to the area so I was looking for a good bakery and this is it. Unfortunately, I live in Leesburg, so I only go to it when I'm in the Tyson's area. 06/06/2019 The owner's response to my review was very refreshing and I ended up visiting the bakery again today. My coworker and I were very well received by one of the gentleman on duty. I told him I was there for my free/replacement cookies, he didn't question or act any different as he would with a paying customer. The assortment of cookies were packed very well. I walked into the bakery, looked around & I was greeted by the older lady at the bakery with a generic "can I help you?". Since it was my 2nd visit, I wasn't aware of the box options so I simply asked for 20 apricot and 20 raspberry cookies. With an attitude the lady asked me to pick a box but hesitated to pack the cookies. I asked what was happening and she responded with a negative attitude stating that she didn't want to pack and unpack & that my mind had to be made up before she packed the cookies. All this was said while I was standing in front of the cash out section so it was clear that I was ready to finalize the transaction & therefore I was confused as to what would have possibly given her the impression that she would be packing and unpacking. My good mood was GONE!!! I considered walking out empty handed but she confirmed that she's not the owner & apologized after I informed her that her customer service and attitude had messed up my experience. Please read the complete review. Let me start by saying that I have been a Loyal customer, for 15 years. They make good cakes and pastries and I think that is getting to their head. I have been recently to their store at Tyson's to order a cake, and I have to enter the customer info twice to make it work, when I aired my frustration, the lady at the register started showing an attitude. They need to understand that it is not just enough to embrace technology but equally important to train their staff to help the customer have a better experience and improve loyalty. I have to give the business a five star after what happened. They have earned my loyalty., for life. The owner of the business reached out to me and emphasized that their business is built on loyalty and quality and apologized, for what happened. Wow, It takes a lot to prompt me to write a review but I'm speechless after today's experience. Walked in and waited 10 minutes while a attendant was making sandwiches. When my turn came, and she found out I wanted to order a cake, so she asked me to continue waiting while she takes care of the 2 customer who entered the store AFTER me. Her attitude was short and quick & she resulted in making me feel more like a bother to work with then other customers. Lady, I choice your place to walk in to spend money at your store. It could be handled better, such as " would you like to order a drink while you wait for me to attend to your cake request?" Strike 1 I returned today to re-order the same exact custom cake I ordered on March 2018, MINUS a design that incurred a extra charge. Pictures of the original cake was shown along with the receipt. Requested the same order with a change in color of the fondant and as mentioned before to exclude a extra design. The front lady made a phone call to the owner to inquiry about the price. The cost of the cake was quoted as $100 higher than my previous order with notice the price may change! This is the Same cake size and minus a extra design element, and we didn't even talk about the interior of the cake( fillings may or may not cost extra) The lady's explanation as: it depends on how busy the bakery is and you should know the price may change by , "not a significant amount" but it will be due to the bakery's ability to handle the orders received the week of my order is absurd. A bakery should be able to reproduce the same cake at the same price not for $100. I would love to keep supporting your small business but I can't after today. read more

I was introduced to Classic Bakery 7 years ago through my sister who happened to just live in Gaithersburg and ever since Classic Bakery has been the only bakery my family goes to for birthdays, baptisms, baby showers, holiday dinners and even weddings. My sister was also lucky to have Areen Movessian design her wedding cake that tasted as gorgeous as it looked. Along with my cousin who choose a cake that happened to be a replica of her all lace wedding dress and it turned out simply beautiful. My nephews and nieces are always looking forward to their birthdays and what Areen and his team come up with and each time they amaze us. My friends, and coworkers have all grown to love their strawberry cream cake after just one visit to their Gaithersburg location and their amazing coffee is just the icing on the cake. The great dynamic between the father & son business is visible through the pair's ability to provide new cake designs, baking techniques and healthier recipes, while maintaining the taste of their traditional Middle Eastern and Eastern European delicacies and that is what keeps me coming back. Classic Bakery's attention to details and quality is outstanding and never disappoints. Saw this place while driving by last night and thought I'd pick up a few desserts and boy am I glad I did! I bought a few cookies and some slices of fruit cake and hazelnut cake. The cookies are quite good but the cakes are simply outstanding. They are very light and not too sweet and the cream just melts in your mouth. I will be back for sure! read more

This is the second time in the last 3 months coming to this bakery, both times the customer service needs a lot of improvement. Today When I enter the bakery there was no one in line and the young man was on the phone understandable . Within 5 minutes the line goes all the way to the door. Got off the phone and start taking customers behind me . I spoke up on other lady come from inside, told her what happen no apology or recognition. Continue to order ME how to use my card , remove card sign here .... so rude and arrogant . I had their cakes from here several times and thought they were delicious so I decided to give them a try and I ordered three different cakes. I stopped by shop and was greeted and taken care of. I tried several options and decided to order the carrot cake, red velvet with a cream inside and a chocolate cake. I was truly blown away with their quality of customer service and the product. I was very specific with the shape, color, size of each of the cakes, and the manager was amazing and worked with me to ensure all of my demands were met.
