The girl at the cashier was helpful, but seemed like she might've been having an off night. Either way, I do appreciate her help. They have a ton of self serve, ready to pour flavors and smoothies, which is honestly really cool. They also offer sample cups so you can try before you commit, big win. On top of that, the toppings and add ins are self serve too, which makes the whole experience fun and customizable. The flavors were actually really good. Class 302 Cafe is located in the Promenade at Downey. This looks like a pretty busy area, but on an early weekday afternoon, there still was plenty of parking. I had this spot on my bookmarks for years, so I am glad to finally be able to stop by here. The process was a bit confusing when I first walked in, as there were no employees at the front counter - 2 of them were busy in the back cooking, eating, and talking and the other one was focused on making more boba and the trash, I guess. I did a walkthrough to look at everything, then I came back to the front counter and noticed the signages on the side wall about purchasing a cup first, then adding toppings and filling up your drink, then coming back to the front counter to get your drink sealed by an employee. I waited in line patiently, as the employees were all in the back doing various things, and the guy who was bringing out the boba and changing the trash finally came out. I noted that he was wearing the same gloves he did while taking out the trash and started to ring customers in front of me up and help seal finished boba cups wearing those same dirty gloves. I was disgusted, but since I drove a long way for this spot, I decided to stay, as he is only touching the outside of the cup anyway, and I will just wipe it down later. Anyway, I bought a cup and filled it with some ice, my favorite milk tea - jasmine milk tea, and boba. I do wished that they had a couple other toppings I liked though. I was ready to have my drink sealed and waited patiently for the employee to seal it. Overall, it was a good concept they have going on and it is one of those one time experiences at least for me, but they have to work on their cleanliness because there were 2 employees in the back cooking food for customers while eating themselves while cooking in front of it and the other employee wearing the same gloves doing everything, even when changing / touching the trash. read more

i had a disappointing and uncomfortable experience at this boba shop due to the front counter employee. she has thin eyebrows and looks goth, her name is sam i believe? i asked if i could pay using change -- it was all quarters, already counted and organized beforehand, and exactly $6. She told me no, which I understood and accepted immediately. however, instead of ending the interaction there, sam continued to make repeated comments about not wanting to count the change, saying things like "respectfully, i don't want to count all that change." the conversation was unnecessarily dragged out, and her tone was loud and came across as rude and unprofessional. i understand being busy and having policies, but there was no reason to continue commenting after i had already agreed and moved on. i hope management addresses this, as customer service is just as important as the drinks. read more

I ordered the beef noodle soup and I was disappointed it came out in a plastic bowl. I wanted to eat in for the restaurant experience and eating with plastic made my experience feel very cheap. The soup was way too salty. I went to a different location in the past and had a much more pleasant experience. Definitely not coming back. read more

Service: The workers here are super friendly and conversational. I honestly enjoyed my time because of how chill and welcoming the staff was. It's definitely a popular spot, and it's easy to see why. Just a heads-up, Apple Maps says they close at 11pm, but they actually close at 10pm. It's rare to find a self-serve boba place nowadays, so I was looking forward to trying it! On a Saturday night, all the seating was full, but we had no issue getting around to our drinks. You pay for a certain size and are free to add anything you want (WOOO for unlimited toppings). It was such a fun experience to try all the flavors and choose from the variety of toppings. The boba was the perfect chewiness and sweetness. My only wish was that they had an option for unsweetened tea so that I could dilute some of the sweetness. Everything is pre-sweetened, and it was just a bit sweeter for my taste. This place is great if you're a fan of toppings, but not if you're looking for high-quality tea. The food here was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed the beef noodle soup and the taiwanese sausage. The noodles had good texture, the beef was tender, and the soup was very flavorful. They have an amazing selection milk tea, tea, and smoothies. It is cool you could create your own drink. They have sample cups for you to try before you commit to a drink. Their drinks are on the sweeter side, I am usually a 75% sweetness or less sweet person. So I love that you could ask them to add unsweetened green tea to balance out the sweetness. This place is amazing! I came in not knowing what to expect, I saw the word boba on the windows and thought I'd try it out. The person ringing up everything did not greet anyone as they walked in and did not explain how things worked here. Another patron saw that I was lost and told me what to do. This place is basically a Yogurtland but for boba. You purchase your cup and fill it with choices of drinks that were lined up, there were even smoothie blends. Then you walk over to the toppings bar to top it off, then throw in your boba. Once finished, you walk back to the person who rang you up to seal the cup for you. Again, this lady was not personable. Ok, we might just be idiots for not realizing that this is mostly a boba shop. They don't even have shaved snow - a sign near the register says that they stopped serving it in 2020, and pretty much everyone in the restaurant had boba - which we did not get. We got the popcorn chicken and fried rice combo, and the fried pork chop and house noodle soup. I asked for mild on the chicken, but it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I actually asked them to remake it and the girl at there counter said they'd make it plain (she was nice about it). But I think they just replaced the spice with salt because it was really salty! The fried rice was greasy but reasonably tasty - it had little bits of crunchy salty pickled daikon in it, which I'd never had but was delicious! Due to my deep disappointment at my last visit 6 years ago, I had not returned. But I figured 6 years is a long time, maybe things have drastically changed. I was sadly disappointed and mistaken. I can say this is the first self-serve boba place that I've ever been to. If you're looking to try different flavors and toppings, this is the place to come. You pay a flat price per size and you can add the toppings and mix drinks to your heart's content (as long as they can seal the cup). From smoothies to milk teas, there is a pretty good selection of what you can get. I have been a here few times and it's one of those you just want to go to for the vibes. If you're looking for high-quality tea, this isn't the place for you. I love the idea of mixing some drinks and adding toppings based on what I'm craving at the moment. I haven't had the chance to try their foods but they have looked pretty yummy based on seeing people's order at their table. Keep in mind, that the line for the place really can get long, especially on hot summer nights. There is only one cashier that can ring you up. I have not been to Class 302 for a very long time. This is my first time at this location and parking was easy to find. I love the self serve boba station they got here. The drink was good and you can sample before deciding which one you will like to get. I also got a meal combo popcorn chicken and rice with meat sauce. I am giving a 3 stars because the food was just okay. I thought the rice with meat sauce would have more sauce but it turns out to be a little too dry. It was a neat experience to make your own boba drink esp with so many types of flavors and toppings to choose from. You get to also sample the flavors first before committing, so that was a real bonus! The food was a good deal for $16 for app and entree, but it tasted ok. The basil fried rice left a weird taste on our tongue and made other things taste weirder. The noodles, popcorn chicken, fried pork and reg fried rice were bland, except for the Spicy Miso Udon. The school tables and chairs were sticky. The lady in front was trying to stay friendly, prob irritated bc of some misbehaved boys that was harassing her and the business. OK so I've been coming here for yearssss. Their boba is one of my most favorite bobas of all time. It's sweet, brown sugary, soft and chewy and warm. You can help yourself to as much or as little as your heart desires. They have multiple toppings so you can dress your choice of drink up your way! Today i also tried their food. I got the spicy garlic chicken which was crispy and juicy and delicious but not spicy at all, more sweet. I LOVE Class 302. This location is a little random for the demographic area, but I'm SO glad it's here! Downey needed more diverse Asian food and boba spots! So this plus the 7 Leaves across the street is perfect. We came in late at night so some items weren't available, but we just wanted boba anyway. It's a BYOB (Build Your Own Boba) place, so customization is all up to you! From the toppings, milk teas, to the slushies. Love it. Lady at the front was friendly, even on a late night. With it being late and a good number of people, the counters were a bit dirty and could tell things needed to be replenished, but I didn't mind it too much. read more

I love the make it yourself boba station class 302 has, first you buy your cup then fill it with your toppings then add in whichever drink you would like. They have lots of flavors to choose from my favorite is the Carmel macchiato and the taro. I love to add the honey boba and coffee jelly if I'm getting a coffee drink. I also have to mention the popcorn chicken is very good too, it came with a good crunch and the sauce they give with it is very good and unique not like any I have tried before. This is the first self-serve bubble tea shop I've ever been to. It's nice that you really can put how much ever you want of whatever toppings, and the price is the same. I forget the pricing, but something like $6 for a small (16 oz), $6.50 for a Med (24 oz) and Large $7 or $7.50 for a large (32 oz?). Just guestimates, but, overall, reasonable for what you get. A good variety of milk teas, regular teas, and even smoothie choices. I'm basic, I don't get anything too sweet or fancy, so it was the house milk tea for me. But, they offer you little sample cups to try out the flavors before you commit. I enjoyed the 302 milk tea, the guava green tea, and the lychee smoothies best. But, of course, you can't customize sugar level on these, since they're pre-made, from the fountain. The meal deal is very reasonable ($17). Pick one item from list A (protein), and one from list B (a carb dish). Great for feeding 3 adults and 4 kids. We had the Teriyaki chicken, popcorn chicken (2), fried pork chop, and then the spicy udon soup, curried pineapple fried rice, and also the spicy basil fried rice. Also, a side of Calamari (side appetizer, not a part of the meal deal). Everything was good, but I probably wouldn't order the basil fried rice (liked the pineapple fried rice better) or the udon soup (hard to share, and not anything to write home about) again. The food also came out pretty fast; I was surprised. The pork chop was surprisingly moist and tender on the inside, crispy on the outside. I think I liked this most! Boba was a good enough texture, too. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely not terrible. I'd want to go here again, so much bang for your buck!
