The inside decor is kinda quirky, it's designed like a classroom and the tables are actual school desks put together. Class 302 has been a staple through the years. This one still offers their shaved snow which we got the mango flavor (forgot how large they were!). They offer a wide variety of Taiwanese food reminiscent of my parent's generation growing up in Taiwan. Got the minced pork over noodles which was delicious. Like the counter-part in Taiwan, it was extremely satisfying in both belly filling portion, diversed set of ingredients, and flavors. To my surprise, the ice was flavored (most offered plain ice, made with just water). I happened to ordered "milk ice" and I liked it. There is an advantage of ordering the shaved ice to go: all ingredients were "on the side." It's much easier to split with others at home this way -- we divvy up the shaved ice and picked/fought-over our own toppings. All good. The décor brought back so much nostalgia, what they intended. The name "class 302" in Taiwan 3rd grade or the people born in 1943. Those people grew up in relatively harsh material struggle, militant social norms, and general up-beat optimism for the future. We came across this unassuming Thai eatery in a strip mall that caters to Asian eateries. Upon entering, we were greeted enthusiastically by the staff, who invited us into the seating area. The tables and chairs are reminiscent of the wooden chairs, stools, and tables from a 100-year-old schoolhouse- short for me but still comfortable. You ring a buzzer when you are ready to order. I had the marinated pork over noodles - absolutely delicious. Others dining with me had the beef bento box, and pork cutlets over rice. All very good, and the portions were American large! We required four boxes for the leftovers, with enough for another meal. I also had a Thai Tea with bobo, my first try at this popular concoction. It came in what looks like a small bucket, and was very good. I'll likely skip the bobo next time, a acquired taste for my USA born-and-bred pallet. But the tea was top-notch. Although it was tasty, I wish there were a little more noodles. The almond milk tea was also tasty. However, I wish the servers checked on my table a little more since we dined in. The water was rarely refilled, and although we had asked for the check, we hadn't received it for 10-15 minutes, so we walked up to the front to pay. I have always had shaved snow here but never tried their food until recently. I got the popcorn chicken bento and was blown away. Its the best popcorn chicken ever. Large portion, super crispy, seasoned perfectly. It came with rice and 3 little sides that were quite yummy. They were mapo tofu, stir fried green beans, nappa cabbage. Very very reasonably priced. I was really sad when the Class 302 in Hacienda Heights closed but I'm glad that there's still others around the area! I've only ever gotten the shaved ice from Class 302 and it never disappoints. The milk snow is a classic and the perfect fluffy texture and not too sweet. We built our own shaved ice with passion fruit jelly, aloe, fruit and condensed milk if I was feeling extra desserty I'd also want boba and the pudding but you can never go wrong with super refreshing fruit on shaved ice. I was craving Asian food, particularly dim sum. My gf and I were aiming towards Northern Cafe but when she saw Class 302 in the same plaza she asked if we can go there instead and that the food is very good. Luckily the inside was empty since all the other restaurant seemed to have a line. The inside is small but cozy. Like the title says, the decoration and vibe is that of an old school class setting. Keep in mind not the most comfortable for tall people as there was not much leg room, even for myself whom is pretty darn petite. The menu had a lot to chose from, rice dishes, noodles, appetizers, soups etc. They also had a pretty extensive selection of shaves ice for dessert. _Popcorn Chicken ($10.50) Although I've had better elsewhere, this was still pretty good. A good amount of bite sized chicken, batter was slightly thick and crispy and the chicken inside was well cooked. The sweet and sour like dip on the side was perfect to pair it with, as alone it was a bit plain. _Sweet Potato Fries w/Plum sauce ($5.75) Never had sweet potato fries with plum sauce before and it was exactly my type. Slightly sweet and cinnamon like flavor. I wish it was a bit more crisp but still a solid choice. _Tofu w/1000 yr old egg ($5.95) Not actually 1000 yr old I believe but it was quite interesting. The texture was a bit like jello and slightly rich. It went well with the tofu. The tofu was very good and reminded me of the Japanese style cold tofu. Very silky and refreshing. This was topped with straw like pork shreds and green onions. A bit sweet and salty. _Bacon Cabbage ($7.95) The bacon is not crispy, a bit soft as the cabbage is served pretty warm. I love cabbage but this one felt a bit more on the oily side. _Sausage Fried Rice. I was craving those sweet sausages and was glad that they had the version of fried rice. Good amount of sweet sausage. The flavors were sweet, salty and a bit rich. My only complaint is I wish it was a bit less oily. The bottom of my bowl was pretty shiny and oily but I still killed most of the plate. _Bitter Melon Pork Rib Soup ($4.95) At first I was not a fan as I saw all the oil sitting on top. My gf said you had to mix it all. The bitter melon is a requited taste and indeed pretty bitter. The soup was hearty and rich. Soothing for a cold night but still a bit oily for me. I usually phone in the order and get there within 10 min and just have to wait maybe another 5 min once I pay and check in with them. They are always professional and friendly on the phone and in person. The ambiance is pretty quiet if you're looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of things.
