Glad I went with Clark! At first I wanted to go with an independent contractor but he wanted me to throw out my platform beds. The guy was a lot cheaper than Clark but replacing those beds meant in the long run I'd be spending more an I'd have a lot more wrk to do getting rid of the beds and then replacing them. He was not too concerned about answering emails either claiming my messages went to his laptop. The guys at Clark assured me they could treat the platform beds and always got back to me right away when I needed to talk to them. They got rid of the bugs and made a bad situation manageable. Last Nov we asked Clark to come out as a gopher was eating our garden. We paid $250 and within a week the gopher was caught. We waited another week or two for signs of more activity and there were none so in December, we cancelled the service. In Jan we got a bill for $97. We called and someone said "Oh yes, we see you called and cancelled in December, I'll get that removed from your credit card." They never did. We called again. They said they would take care of it. They never did. I put the charge into dispute and lo and behold my husband looks out in late Jan and sees Clark Pest starting to put chemicals on our lawn. He stopped the guy and said we had cancelled the service and did not want him putting anything on our lawn. We have been in touch with them at least 4 times and they will not remove the charge, and now are saying we "only cancelled December" and that we signed up for a year long contract (which we did not.) Stay away from these scammers. It's a shame, the service guy was nice and knew his job but their management team are out to wring every penny from you; good luck getting rid of them once you ask for their service. We'll go elsewhere if we need help in the future. read more

Remodeling our home we found some activity behind the baseboard raising the question of a termite infestation. We called Clark Pest Control, and Roland Patton came to our house: friendly, professional, and competent. He did a thorough inspection of the house, including inspection of the crawl space, only to tell us that those things we saw were signs of previous, but no longer active termite activity which does not need to be treated. He advised to have our house inspected every 2-3 years which we will gladly do. All in all, I was a little bit hesitant to have a termite inspection done because I was afraid that I could easily be talked into a costly extermination job as I would have to take their word for it. With Roland Patton from Clark Pest Control I felt I had found an honest and competent termite expert. We will be happy to have him back in 2-3 years read more

My neighbor rang my door bell to advise me there are swarming termites are coming from the back if my house into her yard. We went around the back and I saw the spot and sprayed the area to kill what was flying. Also there was a spot on the inside wall near the ceiling that the termites just came through. I took samples of the bugs to show the inspector when they came. I had called a friend who lives close by and asked her who she used for their work she said, CLARK PEST CONTROL IN CONCORD. I had called for a termite inspection on my house in Walnut Creek last week. CLARK sent out a technician named TODD, very friendly and knowledgeable person. He did a thorough inspection, checking all the eves around the house with a probe and in the garage also under the house. He had explained in detail what I had and how they will take care of the problem. I had and other company ( T ) come out to do the same inspection, just to get a second option. This inspector looked at the area I showed him. He did go under the house but never went into the garage or probe the eves as TODD did. So I call CLARK to setup an appointment to do the work. I was completely satisfied with MATT who came out to do the work, also very friendly and knowledgeable person. I highly recommend CLARK PEST CONTROL IN CONCORD for any worries of problems in your home. read more

Do not fall for the bait-and-switch from Clark Pest. I called for an estimate and was assured that they could do the treatment the same day of the estimate. I told the customer service agent we have ants NOW and need treatment NOW. She assured me this would happen. When the Clark guy arrives at my house I knew something was up. First off: he said he was unable to do any treatments today. Secondly, they require a year-long monthly contract. If this was communicated to me over the phone, we could have saved everyone the time. They are a joke. Have rodents in my ceiling and walls. The exclusion area was not thorough and did not resolve the entry areas, the pest end of the company is also severely lacking. Spent lots of money, still have lots of rodents in my ceiling and walls. I took matters into my own hands and set a few traps outside to try to catch them. I caught two rats so far, have to set more traps and call another company! Clark sucks! read more

I have been living in my great victorian over a pub for 7-8 years and never had any pest problems until summer. Then cockroaches, which have freaked me out. My landlord is infamous for using the worst services and neglecting the problem. The pub underneath me is calling Terminex every week, so I know from whence they come. I decided to fix and deduct as per the health department and found Clark, who uses chemicals they guarantee work and aren't poisonous and endanger pets. They are all really nice, and my landlord says she might switch, so I'm hopeful I won't have to revise this good review with my problem unsolved. read more

I've been using Clark Pest Control for 20+ years for the occasional rat or yellow jacket nest and have always been completely satisfied. There's a rat in the basement again and I made an appointment a week out. The rep came right on time and found the possible culprits entryway BUT - here's the kicker -- the only way he can trap the rat is if I sign up for a $150 A MONTH AGREEMENT. They won't consider a one-off treatment anymore. I didn't even wait to hear how long the "agreement "had to last but even two months or $300 is way too much to pay for a couple of rat traps and then a retrieval. WHAT A TOTAL SCAM!!! So Clark, forget about me and my 20+ as a customer. We're over. read more

I was so pleased with service I signed up for regular maintenance. Very friendly and professional service. Our regular service now done by Rodney who is very conscientious and thorough. I had a strong smell in my basement. Called three pest control companies. One told me they had an initial charge of $150 just for coming to the house, and charged $1350 minimum for any kind of animal control job. I set up a tentative appointment for the next week, and he never called back. The other place pestered me about what I thought was causing the smell. Since I'm no expert, the conversation went in circles and I decided not to use them. Then I called Clark. They made an appointment with me for within two days. Over that time the smell decreased by about half, but is still there. The guy came out today and did a walk through of my situation. He couldn't find the source, and ruled out a dead or live animal. He did not charge me, pointed out a few places I could clean to see if that would help the smell...gave me his card if the smell continued and I needed more help. I'm not sure how this will end, but I appreciate their sending someone who could help, not charge, and at least rule out what is NOT causing the smell, and will be available in the future. read more

I have decided that Clark Pest Control should be a business school case study on how to achieve super adverse business terms for your customers while they are distracted by ants/termites etc... (1) you need to commit to routine service to get solutions for acute problems; (2) at any point when you start to actually cost Clark something, responsiveness declines magically; (3) if you try to terminate your contract, apparently the notion of proration is a radically new notion for customer service. the timing of our mouse problem couldn't have been worse. it was over the holidays and we had friends and family about to stay with us for a week. to make matters more complicated, killing the little critters was the last thing i wanted to do because i don't like to kill things. it's not the mice that bother me it's their droppings that make me feel like i'm about to contract some horrible, infectious, life-altering disease. i'd go so far as to say that we're pretty much programmed, as humans, to be repelled by mouse poop. and according to the internet, it's for good reason. the really sad news about mouse infestations is that there's really no way to avoid killing (at least some of) them if you want them out of your home. initially i thought i was going to have a lovely mouse/human bonding experience as i caught each and every one of them in a box trap and set them free in their new neighborhood (i had in mind some nice real estate in maclaren park). as it turns out, mice propagate much too quickly for this sort of approach and my mouse population was already huge, so i called clarks. and even though it was during the holidays, they answered the phone and sent someone over on the very same day of my call. my pest specialist was zach g. and he's definitely the best person i could have hoped for: patient, professional, timely, thorough, easy to get in touch with and just a nice guy with a real expertise (and sense of humor) about mouse intelligence. specifically he presented me with my options, set the traps, searched the property for mouse gateways that needed closure and patiently explained how this whole mouse-control thing works... read more

DO NOT USE!!!!!!! I've hired Clark for pest control and was initially happy with the first service. Polite and courteous the service technician put in an hour of work. He and I walked the front and back yard and I identified the plants I didn't want sprayed.. Once I signed up it was blow and go, 20 min pit stop at my houses spraying everything. The result? 3 dead trellis vines that I valued because they were sprayed in the hottest part of the day. I warned them and end up losing a beautiful bouganveila vine again last summer. After that I fired them and sent them and written 2 week notice. The tech shows up 3 weeks later after I hired Home Plus Pest Control.Six months later I've been sent to collections by Clark despite my written notice and zero balance.The office staff Karen Franks was an absolute witch and demanded payment while being the rudest customer service agent I've dealt with, AVOID AT ALL COST. Please be careful when using Clark. It's a lifetime commitment and they won't always follow your instructions.  At first, it seemed great.  a knowledgeable and polite gentleman came out to help access my pest issues and came up with a plan of action. The person servicing my house came out and that's when things slowly fell apart.  He was crude, which was uncomfortable and unwanted around my toddler, and he was creepy.  My nanny asked to not be left alone with him.  He did eliminate the pest problems in the house but, it came at a price.  He would decide when he wanted to service the house and came over monthly.  Monthly visits were in the contract, but it was supposed to be at my discretion, not his.  If he called, he came over, regardless if the call was returned.  He tried to force his way into my house when the nanny was here alone with my son and became upset when he wasn't allowed in.  He also claimed to come over but people were home and he was never there.  I was charged just over $90 for each visit, regardless if he did anything or terrorize my nanny.  I called to dispute he did anything and was told they would credit my account but didn't.  I tried to end the service but they made that difficult too.  They even sent a final bill, with late fees, over the final visit that never occurred.  They claimed he sprayed the front of the house, despite me instructing them not to spray because of toddlers and dogs.  They did remove the pest, but traumatized my family and charged me to services they didn't complete.  Again, use at your own risk. read more

I tried to set up an appointment with Clark and their management and customer service was horrific. I set an appointment for 9-11 today and they called me 30 mins before the appointment and had to delay 4 hours and move it to 1-3. The woman on the phone was apologetic, but couldn't actually do anything to help me. Overall they are just not a well managed place. Went to their competitor, who got me a same day appointment, was able to give me a set price on the phone and could actually answer questions about having a rodent problem - Clark could do none of these things. read more

I can't believe this. First I call, and the polite woman who answers accidentally drops the line when she tried to transfer the call. Then I call back and speak to a man who answers my questions about the types of treatment but he will not give me ANY indication of their prices. Not even a ball park figure based on a single family dwelling with a certain number of rooms, etc. I can give him a lot of information but he will not even hint at the cost. Don't waste your money. We had "small" mice infestation before calling them seven months ago. After an initial consultation fee of $385 and $65 monthly, plus the time of meeting them, we have a larger mouse infestation. I received a free inspection yesterday by Robert Walian. I called at 8AM in the morning, and Robert arrived at 10AM the same day. He was on time, knowledgeable, and incredibly nice. I was expecting to find the worst in my tenant's room (beg bugs), but Robert assured me they were simply carpet beetles. He explained, in depth, the nature of the issue ( the difference between bed bugs and carpet beetles, what they were, how they multiplied, where they came from, and how to manage/eradicate the problem). Robert and I were BOTH relieved that they were not bed bugs. This was reassuring, as sometimes representatives from companies come in and make a problem sound much worse than it is to get your business. Thank you for your time. Terrible. They promise but can not deliver. I have been a customer since 2008 (with a year or so break in between), their guarantee was to come as often as needed. I am on the quarterly plan. In the last year, I've had major spider infestation. Clark's only came once every quarter. I had to call them multiple times during the quarterly timeframe because it seemed like the treatments did nothing. A supervisor came by last week to inform me (in these exact words) "it is not worth it for Clark's to keep you as a client because you've called too many times during your quarterly cycle". I was offended! He was also very rude about it but just brushed it and thought I'd called and talked to upper management instead. I called today to speak with management and for a service request because I'm having a new pest issue and they told me my account has been cancelled!!!! No notice. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I may revise this review later, and hopefully upwards (currently a "2"). I absolutely LOVE my technician Robert, and the work he does is superlative. If judging just by HIS work, this would be a "5 star" company. But the office staff has problems that I think are dangerous, in handling credit cards. Long story short, I have had fraud on my credit card, which of course could come from anywhere. When calling in a payment with my new credit card, I spoke to an office person, verified the amount to be charged, and asked in GREAT detail if they used an encrypting program to keep credit card info on file so we could put my bill on auto pay. After making it SO clear to the employee that I did NOT want ANY hard copies of my card kept or sent, I received a call the following day from another finance person, verifying that I would be on auto pay; but she proceeded to read off to me my entire card information!!! It had NOT been encrypted, but written down and put in a cash drawer overnight! I then spoke to the office manager, who was unaware that it is illegal to keep a person's credit card number when they have specifically asked you NOT TO! Even overnight! Lord! Clearly their office procedures are NOT in place, and it worried me that even an office manager didn't see what the big deal was. Anyone who has EVER had fraud on their card knows what a hassle it is to correct. By the way, all staff were very polite and nice; I just found them either untrained (probably) or unresponsive to very clear customer requests. And again, their technical handling of all those bothersome critters is terrific, at least by my technician. So proceed at your own risk! UPDATE: I have upgraded this from a 2-star to a 3-star. I have continued to use this outfit, and the work Smitty performs is excellent. I no longer have my card on file, and all is going smoothly. They have a wonderful employee in him; I'm just careful of the office staff. I WOULD recommend using this company. UPDATE #2, November 2014: OK, back down to a 2-star again. I called in to pay my bill with a credit card (I hadn't done so in 1/2 year) and Yvonne the secretary said, do you want to use the one "1234" (etc.)!! She had my card on the computer. It was encrypted, even tho I had told them NOT to keep it!! I made my way up to the district office (800 421-7829) and spoke to first Rosemary, who looked at my records (again with the card there and numbers given to me) and then to her supervisor Chris Aguiniga. I was very specific in previous years for my card not to be kept. At this point Chris denied that it was on file and would not acknowledge that both Yvonne & Rosemary had given ME the last 4 of my card. Clearly it NOW had now been deleted. The local office supervisor Dan Bonnici said it is automatically stored if you pay with a credit card, and it seems this was the case. Chris flatly denied it and never answered my email. CONCLUSION: A GREAT PEST COMPANY WITH QUESTIONABLE FINANCE PRACTICES! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD!! read more

These people are crazy. If you reschedule a contract service date because there's torrential rain outside, they try to talk you into their "granules" because what they consider "skipped service" must throw a huge wrench in their accounting or something. We decided to cancel all future service and the merry-go-round of managers calling us to "confirm", leaving messages for us to call back, then we call back and another "confirm" cycle starts? - we're not unclear about cancelling future service!! It doesn't matter how good their service is if you can't get through the crazy people in the office. What a nightmare. read more

Do not use this company! They are awful. I canceled by contract after one use, and they continued to come and spray my house for three month. They even came and sprayed areas out of the originally request, as they could not access the problem area. I cam home tonight to a from porch totally drenched in pesticides, with no notice, just a bill for something I never asked for. Stay away! read more
