Glad I went with Clark! At first I wanted to go with an independent contractor but he wanted me to throw out my platform beds. The guy was a lot cheaper than Clark but replacing those beds meant in the long run I'd be spending more an I'd have a lot more wrk to do getting rid of the beds and then replacing them. He was not too concerned about answering emails either claiming my messages went to his laptop. The guys at Clark assured me they could treat the platform beds and always got back to me right away when I needed to talk to them. They got rid of the bugs and made a bad situation manageable. Remodeling our home we found some activity behind the baseboard raising the question of a termite infestation. We called Clark Pest Control, and Roland Patton came to our house: friendly, professional, and competent. He did a thorough inspection of the house, including inspection of the crawl space, only to tell us that those things we saw were signs of previous, but no longer active termite activity which does not need to be treated. He advised to have our house inspected every 2-3 years which we will gladly do. All in all, I was a little bit hesitant to have a termite inspection done because I was afraid that I could easily be talked into a costly extermination job as I would have to take their word for it. With Roland Patton from Clark Pest Control I felt I had found an honest and competent termite expert. We will be happy to have him back in 2-3 years read more

My neighbor rang my door bell to advise me there are swarming termites are coming from the back if my house into her yard. We went around the back and I saw the spot and sprayed the area to kill what was flying. Also there was a spot on the inside wall near the ceiling that the termites just came through. I took samples of the bugs to show the inspector when they came. I had called a friend who lives close by and asked her who she used for their work she said, CLARK PEST CONTROL IN CONCORD. I had called for a termite inspection on my house in Walnut Creek last week. CLARK sent out a technician named TODD, very friendly and knowledgeable person. He did a thorough inspection, checking all the eves around the house with a probe and in the garage also under the house. He had explained in detail what I had and how they will take care of the problem. I had and other company ( T ) come out to do the same inspection, just to get a second option. This inspector looked at the area I showed him. He did go under the house but never went into the garage or probe the eves as TODD did. So I call CLARK to setup an appointment to do the work. I was completely satisfied with MATT who came out to do the work, also very friendly and knowledgeable person. Do not fall for the bait-and-switch from Clark Pest. I called for an estimate and was assured that they could do the treatment the same day of the estimate. I told the customer service agent we have ants NOW and need treatment NOW. She assured me this would happen. When the Clark guy arrives at my house I knew something was up. First off: he said he was unable to do any treatments today. Secondly, they require a year-long monthly contract. If this was communicated to me over the phone, we could have saved everyone the time. Like many reviews here, I would give zero stars if it was an option. In fairness to Clark, when we initially hired them and began service we had a small rodent issue. They came out 3 or 4 times and handled it. From then on, we only knew they were here as scheduled because the tech jumped our back fence to handle the bait boxes on the patio and to spray it. We knew, because we have a RING security system. Fast forward to 3 months ago - must be a new tech. Invoice left on the door says Alex sprayed the front but no one was home for her to do the back. We never asked anyone to jump our fence. We asked to be called and schedule an appt so we would be home to let them in. The tech chose the fence method. Guess we now have a new tech. We spent multiple attempts at calls over the last 3 months - every phone # on the website, the number on the folder that holds the invoice they leave on the door...either out of service or NO ANSWER. Not even a voice mail to take messages. So, as you already guessed, Alex came again. Same deal. This time - I am not paying the bill. I am guessing they can report my credit. But I am not paying for service I did not get. I don't even have a number to cancel my service. Oh - and I went to their portal...and it says my account does not exist. I am happy some of you are satisfied. They need to contact me "yesterday" to convince me to continue to work with them So...If you have kept reading, you will note that I have now changed this to 5 stars. I finally figured out that we get our service from the Vacavill location. Albert was amazing on the phone. We will have appointments going further. And, our service will be completed this Wednesday. I've been using Clark Pest Control for 20+ years for the occasional rat or yellow jacket nest and have always been completely satisfied. There's a rat in the basement again and I made an appointment a week out. The rep came right on time and found the possible culprits entryway BUT - here's the kicker -- the only way he can trap the rat is if I sign up for a $150 A MONTH AGREEMENT. They won't consider a one-off treatment anymore. I didn't even wait to hear how long the "agreement "had to last but even two months or $300 is way too much to pay for a couple of rat traps and then a retrieval. WHAT A TOTAL SCAM!!! So Clark, forget about me and my 20+ as a customer. We're over. read more

We had a technician come out to our apartment complex to spray the interior of the unit. When the Clark technician entered he looked around opened my over then look under the sink and said my house does not need to be sprayed although my complex paid for a spray. Then he went to the leasing office and told them he sprayed the entire house and left gel traps under our sink which was a straight lie. He was in and out of my house within 30seconds. He singed where it said "tenant sign here" and left with nothing done just handing my complex a 1500$ bill to look in some doors for bugs. Last Nov we asked Clark to come out as a gopher was eating our garden. We paid $250 and within a week the gopher was caught. We waited another week or two for signs of more activity and there were none so in December, we cancelled the service. In Jan we got a bill for $97. We called and someone said "Oh yes, we see you called and cancelled in December, I'll get that removed from your credit card." They never did. We called again. They said they would take care of it. They never did. I put the charge into dispute and lo and behold my husband looks out in late Jan and sees Clark Pest starting to put chemicals on our lawn. He stopped the guy and said we had cancelled the service and did not want him putting anything on our lawn. We have been in touch with them at least 4 times and they will not remove the charge, and now are saying we "only cancelled December" and that we signed up for a year long contract (which we did not.) Stay away from these scammers. It's a shame, the service guy was nice and knew his job but their management team are out to wring every penny from you; good luck getting rid of them once you ask for their service. I have been living in my great victorian over a pub for 7-8 years and never had any pest problems until summer. Then cockroaches, which have freaked me out. My landlord is infamous for using the worst services and neglecting the problem. The pub underneath me is calling Terminex every week, so I know from whence they come. I decided to fix and deduct as per the health department and found Clark, who uses chemicals they guarantee work and aren't poisonous and endanger pets. They are all really nice, and my landlord says she might switch, so I'm hopeful I won't have to revise this good review with my problem unsolved. read more

They are a joke. Have rodents in my ceiling and walls. The exclusion area was not thorough and did not resolve the entry areas, the pest end of the company is also severely lacking. Spent lots of money, still have lots of rodents in my ceiling and walls. I took matters into my own hands and set a few traps outside to try to catch them. I caught two rats so far, have to set more traps and call another company! Clark sucks! read more

I will NEVER do business with this company again. Long story short. I used their service once in 2004. I'm not complaining about the technicians, this is about their policy on late payers (my bill was less than $200). Yes, I was having a very hard time, financially. But, things got better and I paid them in FULL. What seems very punitive is their INSISTENCE that this black mark remain on my credit report for a full TEN YEARS!!! (not 7). Shame on them. I had a strong smell in my basement. Called three pest control companies. One told me they had an initial charge of $150 just for coming to the house, and charged $1350 minimum for any kind of animal control job. I set up a tentative appointment for the next week, and he never called back. The other place pestered me about what I thought was causing the smell. Since I'm no expert, the conversation went in circles and I decided not to use them. Then I called Clark. They made an appointment with me for within two days. Over that time the smell decreased by about half, but is still there. The guy came out today and did a walk through of my situation. He couldn't find the source, and ruled out a dead or live animal. He did not charge me, pointed out a few places I could clean to see if that would help the smell...gave me his card if the smell continued and I needed more help. I'm not sure how this will end, but I appreciate their sending someone who could help, not charge, and at least rule out what is NOT causing the smell, and will be available in the future. read more

(1) you need to commit to routine service to get solutions for acute problems; (2) at any point when you start to actually cost Clark something, responsiveness declines magically; (3) if you try to terminate your contract, apparently the notion of proration is a radically new notion for customer service. the timing of our mouse problem couldn't have been worse. it was over the holidays and we had friends and family about to stay with us for a week. to make matters more complicated, killing the little critters was the last thing i wanted to do because i don't like to kill things. it's not the mice that bother me it's their droppings that make me feel like i'm about to contract some horrible, infectious, life-altering disease. i'd go so far as to say that we're pretty much programmed, as humans, to be repelled by mouse poop. and according to the internet, it's for good reason. the really sad news about mouse infestations is that there's really no way to avoid killing (at least some of) them if you want them out of your home. initially i thought i was going to have a lovely mouse/human bonding experience as i caught each and every one of them in a box trap and set them free in their new neighborhood (i had in mind some nice real estate in maclaren park). as it turns out, mice propagate much too quickly for this sort of approach and my mouse population was already huge, so i called clarks. and even though it was during the holidays, they answered the phone and sent someone over on the very same day of my call. my pest specialist was zach g. and he's definitely the best person i could have hoped for: patient, professional, timely, thorough, easy to get in touch with and just a nice guy with a real expertise (and sense of humor) about mouse intelligence. specifically he presented me with my options, set the traps, searched the property for mouse gateways that needed closure and patiently explained how this whole mouse-control thing works... read more

DO NOT USE!!!!!!! I've hired Clark for pest control and was initially happy with the first service. Polite and courteous the service technician put in an hour of work. He and I walked the front and back yard and I identified the plants I didn't want sprayed.. Once I signed up it was blow and go, 20 min pit stop at my houses spraying everything. The result? 3 dead trellis vines that I valued because they were sprayed in the hottest part of the day. I warned them and end up losing a beautiful bouganveila vine again last summer. After that I fired them and sent them and written 2 week notice. The tech shows up 3 weeks later after I hired Home Plus Pest Control.Six months later I've been sent to collections by Clark despite my written notice and zero balance.The office staff Karen Franks was an absolute witch and demanded payment while being the rudest customer service agent I've dealt with, AVOID AT ALL COST. I was so pleased with service I signed up for regular maintenance. Very friendly and professional service. Our regular service now done by Rodney who is very conscientious and thorough. Then I call back and speak to a man who answers my questions about the types of treatment but he will not give me ANY indication of their prices. Not even a ball park figure based on a single family dwelling with a certain number of rooms, etc. I can give him a lot of information but he will not even hint at the cost. After an initial consultation fee of $385 and $65 monthly, plus the time of meeting them, we have a larger mouse infestation. Terrible. They promise but can not deliver. I have been a customer since 2008 (with a year or so break in between), their guarantee was to come as often as needed. I am on the quarterly plan. In the last year, I've had major spider infestation. Clark's only came once every quarter. I had to call them multiple times during the quarterly timeframe because it seemed like the treatments did nothing. A supervisor came by last week to inform me (in these exact words) "it is not worth it for Clark's to keep you as a client because you've called too many times during your quarterly cycle". I was offended! He was also very rude about it but just brushed it and thought I'd called and talked to upper management instead. I called today to speak with management and for a service request because I'm having a new pest issue and they told me my account has been cancelled!!!! No notice. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I may revise this review later, and hopefully upwards (currently a "2"). I absolutely LOVE my technician Robert, and the work he does is superlative. If judging just by HIS work, this would be a "5 star" company. But the office staff has problems that I think are dangerous, in handling credit cards. Long story short, I have had fraud on my credit card, which of course could come from anywhere. When calling in a payment with my new credit card, I spoke to an office person, verified the amount to be charged, and asked in GREAT detail if they used an encrypting program to keep credit card info on file so we could put my bill on auto pay. After making it SO clear to the employee that I did NOT want ANY hard copies of my card kept or sent, I received a call the following day from another finance person, verifying that I would be on auto pay; but she proceeded to read off to me my entire card information!!! It had NOT been encrypted, but written down and put in a cash drawer overnight! I then spoke to the office manager, who was unaware that it is illegal to keep a person's credit card number when they have specifically asked you NOT TO! Even overnight! Lord! Clearly their office procedures are NOT in place, and it worried me that even an office manager didn't see what the big deal was. Anyone who has EVER had fraud on their card knows what a hassle it is to correct. By the way, all staff were very polite and nice; I just found them either untrained (probably) or unresponsive to very clear customer requests. And again, their technical handling of all those bothersome critters is terrific, at least by my technician. So proceed at your own risk! UPDATE: I have upgraded this from a 2-star to a 3-star. I have continued to use this outfit, and the work Smitty performs is excellent. I no longer have my card on file, and all is going smoothly. They have a wonderful employee in him; I'm just careful of the office staff. I WOULD recommend using this company. UPDATE #2, November 2014: OK, back down to a 2-star again. I called in to pay my bill with a credit card (I hadn't done so in 1/2 year) and Yvonne the secretary said, do you want to use the one "1234" (etc.)!! She had my card on the computer. It was encrypted, even tho I had told them NOT to keep it!! I made my way up to the district office (800 421-7829) and spoke to first Rosemary, who looked at my records (again with the card there and numbers given to me) and then to her supervisor Chris Aguiniga. I was very specific in previous years for my card not to be kept. At this point Chris denied that it was on file and would not acknowledge that both Yvonne & Rosemary had given ME the last 4 of my card. Clearly it NOW had now been deleted. The local office supervisor Dan Bonnici said it is automatically stored if you pay with a credit card, and it seems this was the case. Chris flatly denied it and never answered my email. CONCLUSION: A GREAT PEST COMPANY WITH QUESTIONABLE FINANCE PRACTICES! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD!! read more

If you reschedule a contract service date because there's torrential rain outside, they try to talk you into their "granules" because what they consider "skipped service" must throw a huge wrench in their accounting or something. We decided to cancel all future service and the merry-go-round of managers calling us to "confirm", leaving messages for us to call back, then we call back and another "confirm" cycle starts? - we're not unclear about cancelling future service!! It doesn't matter how good their service is if you can't get through the crazy people in the office. What a nightmare. read more

We have had a great guy named Zach G. service our apartment for rats and mice over the past year. We moved into a rodent infested place without knowing it, and our landlords agreed to deal with it initially...that's when we first met Zach. Within a month of him regularly coming, all our rodent problems were thankfully over. Then our landlords decided to quit Clark because the problem was "fixed". Not so...within a couple months, the rodents were back with a vengeance, destroying our kitchen, got into closets and ripped up clothing, crapping everywhere, it was horrible. After battling it out with our landlords for months, we finally got Clark/Zach back in. Within a couple weeks, our problem was under control again, and yes, you guessed it, the landlords have decided not to pay for any more visits since the problem is "fixed" now...its only a matter of time before we hear the pitter patter of little feet again! For all the starting/stopping of service agreements, Clark has been very forgiving and not charged us a ton of $$ even though they could have. Thank you Clark! And thank you Zach for always being polite, professional and getting rid of the rodents! If you have rodents, I strongly advise having Clark do routine visits even if the problem looks like its "fixed". For a two bedroom apartment, they charged $65/month, this included putting traps in the garage and basement as well. read more

I would not recommend this company. After months of spraying my house, I actually had more pests than when they started. I still had ants in my upstairs bathroom (which I had complained about to them from day one), moths, and spiders. Why the ants only found the upstairs bathroom and never the kitchen is strange to me but nevertheless, they never went away. Unfortunately, even though we insisted the technicians call in advance and schedule a visit so we could be sure to be home and let them in to spray, they wouldn't plan their visit with us. Several months in a row, we found a card in our door stating a tech had been by and sprayed the outside of our home. This wasn't what we had agreed to up front, so I started to feel taken advantage of after a few months. I eventually canceled and explained to the technician that one of my reasons was how I still had lots of pests in the house. But the tech replied that my husband confided that we leave our door open all summer which allows pests into our home. I told him we leave our screen door closes and that should cause us to have lots of pests if Clark is spraying regularly. I felt he told me that because he felt we were going to ask for a refund based on a lack of results. Either way, I can't recommend them to anyone. Don't use these guys. I highly recommend Clark Pest Control (Concord) for any worries of pests in your home. I was completely terrified that I had an infestation of bed bugs. After obsessively reading everything I could find on the internet, I was convinced, and began all of the craziness of trying to find a solution. I called quite a few pest control services, and they were all ready to come and spray my home with chemicals to kill the pests. They all also made it clear that they would have to come multiple times, and none sounded to confident that they could eradicate them completely. I finally reached out to Clark, and a very knowledgeable service person (Robert Walian) called me within an hour of my request. He was very confident and experienced. He recommended a heat treatment, let me know it's very expensive, but works 100%. He wanted to come and inspect first, which is not only totally free of charge, he made time to come late the same day, after no doubt a long work day. Guess what?? I do not have bed bugs. I could have saved my incredibly stressful week by calling Clark in the first place. Free. Get an inspection. If you do have a pest problem, Clark will help to find a solution. The best part about the experience was that the technician was extremely patient and thorough. He was sensitive to my worries, and was willing to spend as much time as needed to help me feel comfortable with his findings. We can't possibly know all we need to, just by reading it on the internet. He explained what we would see, and how it is not possible that I had bed bugs. Of course I was grateful to be wrong about my diagnosis, but also I was appreciative of having such a kind, knowledgeable, and professional person to assist me. Nicely done, Robert! I think Zach is great but they now will not have him just come by for the random incident of ants or other pests. You have to setup an apointment to meet with someone even though the tech is familar with your house. I'm a pretty busy person and don't really have time to setup two appointments for what should be an easy issue to deal with. They are also very pushy about getting you on a monthly plan. They are also more expensive than the local pest control companies and don't seem to need the business. read more
