Andrew and his team disappeared after taking our money and delivering 0 results. How unprofessional & unethical was Diamond Rodent Proofing? After agreeing to a fee of $2,800 to fully rodent-proof our house and eradicate the rat issue that was plaguing us, Diamond Rodent Proofing not only failed to deliver any results in terms of rodent eradication (= did not catch a single rat) but to add insult to injury, Andrew stopped responding to any communications and became unreachable. Andrew and Ashley decided to completely ghost my repeated attempts to communicate with them via email, phone and text messages asking him for a partial refund given the total absence of results on his part. How did we get here: Like many Oakland Hills residents, we've had to address rat issues sporadically. The process is usually the same: rodent-proof the perimeter of the house/crawlspace, and set traps to catch any rats stuck inside until they're all gone. Rodent remediation companies will typically offer a 2-3 year contract period during which they will come back, reset traps, and check for new entry points. When we started hearing rat activity in the house, we set out to get quotes from various contractors: 1. Rodent proofing + 3 months of guarantee 3. Diamond Rodent Proofing: $3,000 (2,800 if paid cash). Rodent proofing + 3 years of guarantee 4. Rat Patrol: $700. Rodent proofing + 2 years of guarantee We decided to hire Diamond Rodent proofing because (1) Andrew was very thorough and professional in his initial inspection (2) he was available to start immediately. We were expecting a baby in just a few months and absolutely needed the house to be clean and rat-free by then. After their initial visit and spending half a day rodent-proofing the perimeter of the house, we continued to hear rat noises. Over 4 weeks, Andrew returned to the house 3 times to further inspect the perimeter - never finding the entry point. Meanwhile, the situation was worsening, and the rats were starting to cause extensive damage to our HVAC system, chewing their way through our heating ducts. We eventually had to resort to hiring another contractor who was finally able to find the entry point that rats were using, seal it and eradicate the rats that had by then completely nested in our subfloor and HVAC system - contaminating half or our heating ducts with urine & rodent droppings to the point that we could smell them in the house. Given the complete lack of results from Diamond Rodent proofing, the fact that we ended up having to hire another company to solve the problem and the massive additional expenses we incurred having to replace our HVAC system - we requested a refund from Andrew & Diamond Rodent Proofing. Everything from the initial phone conversation and setting up an inspection went smoothly. They even called the day before to confirm my appointment. The inspector was great! I called Diamond Rodent Proofing and coincidentally, after talking to our neighbors, they had used them and highly recommended them. We purchased a new home and we were having major skunk issues since we were from the East Coast we had no idea that there is a large rat population by our house and skunks hate rats! Andrew did everything he said he would do. Everything is sealed up all, the exterior entryways for the rats and skunks. Since he did that we have not had any more skunk odor and now we're just dealing with next steps which will be to remove the dirty insulation as soon as he is sure there are no more rats living in the crawlspace. I had a rodent problem in my house Andrew came out and inspected the whole house carefully. His crew showed up the next day to seal all points of rodent entry (located in different parts of my house including behind the bushes, next to garage doors, roof, etc) They set tramps and checked on them once per week for a few weeks. Shortly after a month our house was free of rats. One year later I called them because I heard noises in my garage again. I spent thousands of dollars for these guys to solve my rodent problem at my home, but it was never solved. They supposedly sealed every 1/4 inch opening in my house to prevent mice/rats from entering, but the issue remained even through their "warranty" period. They would just come by to check on traps they left in the attic and would catch mice then say it's OK now and then I'd have to reach out to them again and again after I saw mice again and again. I don't think there was ever a period of time where I truly didn't have rodents in my house. I wish I never hired this company, they charged me so much money, but I didn't see the results that they promised. read more

We have a rodent problem in our house. A Contra Costa Vector Control representative verified our worst concerns after an inspection. We hired Diamond Rodent Proofing to fix our rodent problem. The owner, Andrew, inspected foundation vents and other entry points for rodents. He left us with a detailed proposal with estimated costs. The day that Andrew and his crew showed up made us realize that they would perform specific tasks and more in their work day. For example Andrew plugged two entry points in our kitchen and did not charge extra. One of the crew vacuumed part of the crawl space and brought out bags of insulation composed of rat urine. The worst possible sound one can ever hear...little critters running through the attic. This happened to me when I was in my master bedroom closet about 2 months ago. I quickly ran out of there and grabbed my phone to search for a rodent proofing company. Apparently roof rats are a common problem in our area...sigh...I contacted Diamond Rodent proofing on a Saturday night, the owner Andrew replied back to me the next morning. And he was out to our house for an estimate two days later. Once he got here, he actually discovered a dead rat in our attic that was caught in a trap set up by the previous owners, and he removed that for us free of charge (we also had other estimators came before him and they just left it there...) Ever since the beginning, I feel Andrew was honest and competitive with the estimate, where as some other companies tried to make the problem sound way worse than it really is and told us that we needed to remove all insulation...I did my research and also contacted contra costa county vector control for them to come out and take a look. Andrew's description of the problem is most closely aligned what the inspector from vector control and again, we really appreciated his honesty. Dennis came out to do the proofing the same week. Again, really hard working person, and took care of all the potential entry points from our attic and roof to ensure nothing would be getting in, and also spot cleaned and sanitized our insulation. After that I set up weekly trap checks with Ashley who's super responsive over phone/text, and just an absolute pleasure to work with.
