Had "Rodents - Exclusion with Weekly Trapping" done in my crawlspace by Golden State Critter Control (they were hired/subcontracted by Crawlspace Clean to do this part of their suggested work) and it looks like they did a great and thorough job. They walked the whole perimiter of the house and replaced some crawlspace vent screens, filled & covered quite a few gaps/holes in our eaves and near the roofline, and filled some gaps along the sides of our garage door. Absolutely The Best!! We started hearing noise from the crawl space under our floors that escalated in frequency and loudness into scratching and gnawing sounds. We called Golden State Critter Control and the owner was here within a few hours. He inspected from top to bottom, and found numerous breaches and holes in venting access to our house from the outside. We are on a zero-lot line where we can't see one exterior wall of the house (it faces along the neighbor's fenced-in yard), and after he contacted the owner to get permission to inspect, showed us that literally all of the crawl-space vent guards were broken through on that side. He offered us a variety of options based on what we wanted done, and for a very, very affordable price we opted for reinforcing attic vents on the roof, replacing all exterior ground-level vent grids, repairing a breach where an A/C hose's insulation had been gnawed through to gain entry, and also set traps in the crawl space (with weekly checks for a month) in case any critters were still around that might try to scratch their way around, in or out. He was able to do the work right then if we wanted, and we jumped at the chance! He was careful, thorough, and expert (the new mesh vent grates look very strong & were custom fit). He's very friendly and a great listener; quickly finding and showing us all the problem areas. And, he wore a protective mask all the way through to keep us safe. We'll be listening for any remaining activity or noise for the next few days and were encouraged to call him to come right back if needed to check it out prior to the weekly visits to follow-up and monitor the traps. Another great bonus: they return annually to give a free check-up/inspection. You can't go wrong with this great service: above and beyond expectations. Great service! Recently while decluttering our garage, we found that there were rat droppings in some of the cabinets, and especially on the top of the cabinets and in the rafters. After catching the rat, it was time to clean up the droppings. I was going to take care of it myself, but because of my background, I knew going in that clean up is not safe without the proper controls and equipment. Eventually after some discussion with friends and colleagues, we got a referral. The person had problems with other animals in her home and gave a strong recommendation for Golden State Critter Control. She reported that she had one of the bigger companies come out previously and try to rectify the problem, but things did not change. She then called Golden State Critter Control, and reported that Greg, one of the owners, had come out and found the entry points for the animals that the larger company missed. So I called Golden State Critter Control that afternoon, and left a message explaining I was trying to get a smaller job done before my neighbor (we share a garage) came back from a trip, as the neighbor allowed me to move their car out so that I could declutter. I noted it was small just in case it was too small for his company. Greg called back within 30 min. Actually, I just checked, it was 16 min. Of course, I would never expect faster than that since the guys in the company could be way up on a ladder or something, but I really appreciated getting a call within the hour. After a detailed discussion of what the job may entail, he said that he could actually come early the following morning. So I cleared a lot of items to the middle of the garage to make things easier, and the next day, he showed up right on time. I showed him the cabinets and he gave me an estimate. I then mentioned that maybe the rafters could be done too if the additional estimate was ok. He actually stuck with his original first estimate, and also did an inspection and found the entry points that the rats were using, and explained to me how to fix them. I asked if he performed that service and what the price would be, and he gave me a very reasonable additional quote, so it was game on. Well, let me tell you, he did a fantastic job, he took care of the cabinets and rafters, and also other key parts of the garage. He was very very thorough, and also disinfected the place. Even my neighbor loved it when they returned. I found Greg to be a very professional and knowledgeable about pest control, and also a detailed and hard worker. Greg Tavis, owner of Golden State Critter Control is EXCELLENT. I was extremely concerned re a HUGE, noisy, loud, banging raccoon under my bedroom floor and around my home. Even called the Sheriff's Dept. thinking it was a person. Greg came out, set a no-kill trap, came back the next day, trapped, and relocated the raccoon. Greg thought there may be another raccoon, so he set up a camera to catch any activity under the deck where the entry point was. On camera, at 1:07 A.M.it showed another raccoon and a possum! Also spotted outside was a Western weasel, and a cat by the baited cage. Greg placed rocks covering the entry hole. Took care of everything. Greg, even did critter (poop) clean-up. I recommend them highly! A few years ago, I heard scratching noises above my daughter's bedroom ceiling and ended up calling an attic insulation service. They diagnosed that I had a rat infestation and replaced all the soiled insulation and provided "rat proofing." The rats continued to get back into the attic and after way too many visits from them and other professionals, I had estimates well into the thousands of dollars from other firms that included a need for a rat slab and sorts of other elaborate work. Fortunately, I found Greg and Golden State Critter Control. He came out quickly, identified entry points and areas where the prior work was sub par, and gave a set of recommendations that started with the cheapest and least invasive steps. I went with his first step and he came out a few days later and fixed all the prior work that had been done and also blocked a new entry point that hadn't been identified before. This was, by the way, the cheapest of the recommendations I had gotten. It worked! He then came out several times to inspect the roof and attics, check traps, and make sure the rats were gone. The owner was on vacation with his family but immediately texted back and scheduled to come out today to inspect what critter might be in my HVAC duct work, as I thought it might be skunks.
