2 missed appointments by Technician: I had a scheduled appointment on a Friday, in the morning for a termite inspection. The day of the appointment, at the time of the appointment, I received a txt message from the technician mentioning that they would not be able to make the appointment as they were double booked. He proposed to re-schedule the appointment. I had already taken the morning off to meet the technician, with hours and income loss. But, I decided to re-schedule for the upcoming Tuesday. Tuesday comes around, and again I take time-off work and income loss to meet with the Technician, and they don't show up the appointment. This was the second time of missed work and income. I reached out to the Company to advice them and they prompted that they could reschedule me, but at this point my trust was already broken. The Company didn't take my time seriously. Company's should learn to appreciate that their customers are taking time out of their day to meet with these technicians, which translates to missed income or having to substitute the time-off with vacation time that can be used for the family. read more

They struggle greatly with logistics. For the longest time they would only communicate over the phone. They tell me someone is coming during a window of time and then the person shows up at a radically different time (this has happened multiple times). I keep telling them I need to schedule visits more than 2 days ahead and, while they agree, they never follow through with the agreement, and just blast me an appointment window a few days before. I'm beginning to feel scammed by this company. I signed up for service last year and they charge me $54/month for "quarterly service" but they said I could call them anytime in between for extra service if I see some pests. So I schedule a service visit for today. I saw some spiders a couple weeks ago, but that was the soonest availability because their technicians are so busy. Blocked my whole afternoon as the window was 1-6pm and I wanted interior service. They sent automated texts and calls confirming the appt earlier this week. So I think I'm set. Well it's past 6 and not one word, text, or call from them. I called at 5 to check if anyone is coming. They put me on a long hold and then said they couldn't get hold of the technician. Do they even have technicians?? The agent said the service manager would call me. Did I receive a call? Nope. Did the technician ever show up? Nope. WTH am I paying $54/month for?? Just lousy service and absolutely nothing in return! read more

Pam visited the property and assessed the exterior perimeter of my home, identifying a few areas of concern on the ground floor. The attic was not inspected. After that, Tevin came on his birthday (arrived on time), sprayed the perimeter - including my flip flops :) at the door - and placed a couple of traps and bait boxes. Everything took less than 15 min. He was kind and respectful, and answered my questions. He did not appear to be aware of Pam's notes or findings, which gave me the impression that he wasn't informed and the service provided was a standard treatment rather than one tailored to the specific issues identified. My experience with HomeShield has been excellent so far. We hired them for an initial extermination and ongoing quarterly maintenance. Jonathan P., our technician, was incredibly knowledgeable and patient during the first appointment--he took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly. Living next to a large field, we deal with a lot of bugs. Jonathan suggested a follow-up visit with stronger outdoor pesticides, which I wouldn't have thought to request on my own. He also left glue traps and ant traps for me to place around the house, which was very helpful. At the follow-up appointment, he thoroughly treated all the outdoor areas with the stronger pesticide. Since the first visit, we've noticed a lot of dead bugs--gross to clean up, but a clear sign that the treatment is working. We have been very happy with Home Shield. We had an invasion of ants and spiders and felt that Home Shield had the best reviews and we decided to give them a try. Luis came out first and gave it a very thorough inspection and I swear cleaned every spider web we had from the eaves, to the gates. Unfortunately, we had the ants return and Jordan came out. He was extremely professional and again sprayed the area, checked the foundation out, swept the eaves for any remaining spiders, he was the best. Hopefully he will be our regular guy. It took three weeks to get an estimate for exactly the same work that was done the prior year. Then there were two missed/last minute cancellation appointments before two guys finally showed up with a 16 foot ladder to treat the eaves on a two story house (as fully documented in the HomeShield estimate and proposal), only to walk away without doing anything because they didn't have the equipment they needed. Two months and two cancellations later, the first part of the contracted work was done. They ostensibly dusted for carpenter bees - but there was not a single dead bee anywhere on the property. Two more cancellations/no-shows later, the work was still not completed. After confirming that the wrap up work would be done today, we cut our vacation early and came back home to see the work done. In spite of two text messages and two phone calls confirming that they would be here this morning - no one showed up. Repeated calls to the office were met with "due to excessive wait time we will call you back" messages. Text messages to the technician went unanswered. Four hours after my first call for a status update I was finally told they didn't have the equipment needed and would have to reschedule. Can't say I'm a fan. read more
