Where do I start? My latest service request with Claffey involved a leak I discovered in my pool equipment this morning. I called Claffey service, and after considerable back-and-forth and foot-dragging on the phone, I was told, "We're very busy, and we'll put you in the queue." Naturally, I asked for a rough time frame. The response: "We might be able to get to you by the end of next week." That is a complete and utter lack of customer service. To make matters worse, two years ago, during one of the severe cold spells, my pool equipment froze and my heater failed. Claffey had no meaningful guidance on how to deal with the cold weather and offered very few helpful suggestions. One of the more absurd recommendations was that I might need to use antifreeze in my pool during extreme cold. Ummmmmm... The service Claffey provides is okay, and the technicians who have come out have been friendly. However, they are easily 30-40% more expensive than other companies, and that's even after I negotiated a "deal." On top of that, they charge separately for quarterly cleaning, which many other pool services include in their standard fees. Suffice it to say, I wish I had switched companies years ago. Shelley was fantastic to work with during the design and build of the pool; however, for ongoing service, you would be far better off using another company. read more

Would never consider this Company. Called them to do a simple remodel to an existing pool that they did not build and was hard stonewalled by their sales group. Basically told me" No, and we cannot help you at all and will not refer you to someone that can help you." Would not consider using this Company basically if they didn't build your pool then they will not do business with you. read more

Truly appreciate their Freeze Warning booklets! Accurate, detailed, with step-by-step pictures, everything a pool owner would want should the pump fail during a snowpocalypse. I wish I'd hired them instead of the big game in town to build my own pool. read more

I always go to the Claffey's in Southlake off White Chapel Rd. The guys there take good care of me and my pool. They give good advice and know how to maintain a pool with economical sense. I definitely recommend! read more

There is a tall blonde lady that works here pretty sure her name was melanie, I caught her outside a few weeks ago as I was going to go and look at their display pools. I couldn't even get a word in before being shut down so quickly. I have never been SO belittled by someone in my life. I will NEVER. NEVER. recommend claffey pools to anyone because of her. Choose your employees wisely. Apparently she was above whatever department I was supposed to talk to and she couldn't stand to even speak to me. I didn't even bother stepping through the doors after that. The owner seems careless as well from what I'm reading on these reviews. Awful. Do not recommend this company. Very poor communication. I always get an answering machine when I try calling them, and it is difficult to get a call back. They were providing weekly maintenance, and my pool basically became filthy while they were reporting that everything was fine. I finally had another company come out, and they said the pool filter was dirty, the skimmers weren't working, there was no chlorine in the pool. They were shocked that the pool was receiving weekly maintenance because it appeared as if nothing was being done. read more

I used their service for over a year. I was just another number to them. They charged my card on file with no explanation of what the charge was for. It is very difficult to get through with a phone call so I emailed to inquire about the charge. After having to follow up with another email after no response, they replied that they had to replace a basket. They never showed me a damaged basket. Good customer service would have shown the damaged basket and offered to replace it. Given me the option to replace it myself. The most recent issue was they went up on their monthly maint fee without notification. That was the last straw so I canceled. They no showed for my last weekly maint that was already paid for. I do not recommend this company. Very poor customer service and not trustworthy. read more

The last 2 photos are why we contacted Claffey. We were having issues with the brick flaking off into the pool. Their immediate response was at the pool was five years old and out of warranty. Truth of the matter is the pool was less than four years old but that's not an issue. Still no warranty. They said they would send someone out to give us a price to get it repaired. When he came out he told my wife that it happens a lot to that kind of stone. The water gets behind the stone and causes that. He also told her that these bad winters made it worse. The problem I have is they didn't mention that to us when choosing the stone, and this past winter was quite mild. Once I got their quote, I did called another spa repair company. I ended up going with them for several reasons, a little less expensive and I would not have to wait the 4-6 weeks before Claffey would be able to get to it. Pictures 2-6 shows the quality (or lack of) of Claffey's work. Some quotes from the people that repaired the spa are, "on the spillway where the stone and tile meet wasn't sealed right and the water started going into the back of the stone" and "missing concrete and there is a lot of hollow spaces on the front of the spa they filled in with broken tile." Once I saw the awful work that Claffey did I sent a mail to the guy that gave us the quote and I think his supervisor. All I asked was for Claffey to reimburse me the invoice to have the work repaired, which was cheaper than their price. The supervisor replied that he sent it to corporate and they would get with me by Monday. Instead of getting back with me, they had their attorney send me a letter (attached) stating the claim was denied, and if I had any questions I needed to speak with him. A pool is a long term commitment and I would recommend not going with a company that does this awful work and will not stand behind their mistakes. Not very pleased with their service at all. Bought a fancy jandy variable-speed pump and wifi controller with install on April 5th. Controller was not in stock, so they wired it to run until the controller came in. Here we are on the 26th, no controller. I've called the service number three times (no one ever answers) and left 3 different v-mails. No return call...Unacceptable for a $3600 purchase. read more

Lots of over promising and under delivering from start to finish. Attitude from company completely changed once we signed the contract. We signed contract in October for pool build and we're told pool would start in November. Pool dig not occur until end of January and took a lot longer than expected. Poor communication from staff and we always felt out of the loop. Very poor quality of pool coping and very poor installation of pool tile. Claffey "fixed" these problems but overall dissatisfied with Claffey pools and would never recommend to anyone. Claffey was AMAZING. We started our new pool construction as soon as we closed on our house. After having 4 different designers give us largely the same design (including one designer who kept repeating, I'm giving you my pool, it's amazing--it wasn't), we were excited to hear Claffey say, "In unique spaces, you can sometimes get the most amazing results." They were great. The design was beautiful. Our construction supervisor was readily available and listened to all our concerns through the process. Once the water went in, we transitioned to their startup/finalization group who probably felt like they lived in our backyard doing everything from noting tile to replace to fixing boulders, removing frogs, and more. A week after we signed the "official" handoff taking the pool over, a torrential downpour destroyed the builder's retaining wall and flooded the pool. Claffey was there within the hour of rain stopping, assessed the issues and started helping remove excess water. They brought their team back out, cleared and installed more drains, flocked and cleaned the pool and within a week, the pool looked normal. (Side note, the builder's rebuilt the wall and landscapers came and fixed the destroyed landscape portion as well). They were there with us through it all--friendly, concerned, helpful, responsive. I have recommended them to several friends who all have had similar experiences. read more

Shoutout to Claffey Pools service and technical support. Called having issues with a pump programming problem. Phone support has excellent working knowledge of the system and its operation. Relayed all information to the technicians. Technician arrived on time with everything needed. No trips back and forth to get parts. Very professional and explained everything he needed to do as he was working. When completed went through the complete system ops check with no problem. Also made sure I was comfortable with the system app and how everything worked. Awesome job. read more

I'm sad to write a review like this. We are in the middle of a catastrophic remodel by Claffey-- a company that I have always heard had a good reputation. Our project demo started in January. It currently looks like the pictures. We have made some changes and updates, so we expect some delays. However, what we have experienced goes far beyond that. The designer was unavailable for any changes once the demo process began, so the simple process of repositioning some steps (prior to pouring concrete) took about 8 weeks. The tile was installed incorrectly which went unnoticed until we asked about it. If we want updates, we have to keep asking for them. We have heard several answers as to why there have been delays. We requested to speak to the owner, and we were given a supervising manager. No owner has ever contacted us. We have been repeatedly reassured that our project is a priority and just about everyone has been nice. But the work speaks for itself. Unfortunately, we just received an updated invoice that looks to have incorrectly stated the original total-- this would now be an overcharge of more than 50k for a project that has been ongoing for 5 months. read more

Claffey Pools fell short on customer service. Claffey came to my house on multiple occasions to identify and fix a leak. The company charged my credit card without sending an invoice or seeking my approval for charges. My pool still leaks. I contacted Claffey multiple times to obtain copies of the invoices to understand exactly what I had paid the company to do. Claffey took weeks to respond my queries and still fell short of comprehensive feedback. They also refused to redo the full leak detection to validate their original leak findings after I hired a third party to fix the problem Claffey identified. I can only conclude that Claffey's original leak detection did not identify all the potential leaks and was not comprehensive. Claffey will gladly take your money without fully resolving your problem and will not make any attempt to compromise or provide customer satisfaction. read more

Our pool is 14 years old and being the new owners of the home, we knew the grout and mastic around the pool needed to be re-done as well as the stones/rocks bordering the pool needed to be re-sealed. I tried to find companies who could help us out, and WOW it was near impossible, so I dug up the pool blue prints and found Claffey had originally built the pool. No brainer, I gave them a call. I received a call back the same day where someone got my info and what we needed done, this was on Dec 21, 2015. I was told the project would be given to a tech and unfortunately like the "big company they are" I was told a tech wouldn't be calling me till the new year to set a date for the estimate. Since I really didn't other options, what could I do? Well January 8th rolled around and I still hadn't heard anything, so I called to follow up. I was told my "ticket" had been written up and given to a tech and he should have called me already. The woman on the phone said she would follow up. January 11th I finally received a call from the tech who said there'd been a "mix up with my paperwork" and he'd just received my ticket that day, but he was so busy the soonest he could come out for an estimate would be the Jan 18th. By this time I'd already found another company who had come out the next day and given me an estimate, but my husband wanted to hear what Claffey had to say, so I booked the estimate. The tech and his brother arrived within the time frame I was given and were very polite and professional. I pointed out what we wanted done and he seemed confident they could handle it all. He took some measurements and within 30-40min he handed me an estimate. The estimate was straightforward. We chose to go with the other company as they offered basically the same services Claffey did, but were half the cost, but honestly their customer service was what sealed the deal. Once I found the other company, they scheduled our estimate for the next day, also gave the estimate same day, and emailed me twice to follow up. read more

Very disappointed in the work we received from Claffey. We had them install a large pool in our yard. It was overpriced, but we thought we were paying for a superior service. We were wrong. Turns out we just wasted our money. The project ran several months past the projected completion date. The quality control was bad. We continuously needed to identify and flag problems and then repeatedly ask to have someone come correct them. The pool was completed in December, but they got me to sign a document (one of many in a pile) that said the one year warranty start date began in September, three months before the pool was actually done. They did a poor job of explaining what was and was not included in the pool. After it was "completed," we had to pay a third party thousands of dollars for turf that was obviously expected to be included in the project. We also had to spend thousands of dollars repairing the tremendous damage they did to our yard, including crushing a french drain we had installed and needed to be replaced completely. Now, only a few months after completion, we are already making our second warranty claim. Not good. I do not recommend them. read more

Claffey does not need my recommendation as their reputation is already excellent - but the bottom line is they are fantastic. They installed my pool 10 years ago and just finished reconditioning it - they are extremely professional, they execute on time and on budget, and their attention to detail and quality is impressive. Claffey completed our pool last April and I've waited a year to see how things have gone with their support and service as well as the build. I am an engineer, so I wanted a company that would work closely with me and answer questions as they came up. I read every manual on every product from the pumps, to the gunite, to the plaster and so on. When the manuals were wrong, Claffey didn't argue, they brought the vendor out to explain. When I had questions our pool supervisor with over twenty years of experience answered the questions with his strong knowledge or went back to more knowledgeable people to get the answers. Never once did I feel that Claffey tried to mislead us. Due to the soil issues in the Frisco area we decided to go with 12 piers. When the vendor showed up with the wrong product, Claffey sent them back to retrieve the correct product. No fuss or disagreement, even when the vendor tried to convince us otherwise. When they were guniting the pool the Claffey supervisor was on hand to answer any questions and address any concerns that I had. I always got a call back within thirty minutes from the pool supervisor. I also found the Claffey isn't pushy. When I was concerned about the temperature being to low to put down the travertine stone, they cancelled the stone masons and told me to call them when ready, which I did two months later. I did a significant amount of homework beforehand, reading up on salt versus chlorine. Ozone versus UV lights and other options. The types of materials used to bond the stone to the concrete. Fiber in the concrete, etc. I found that their sales guys know the high level information but not some of the details that I was seeking. As far as service is concerned, they have two departments. The construction service department that had to come out and address an issue. What impressed me about this team was that they didn't just say "that's how it is". Instead, they came out several times to ensure that the job was done correctly and to my satisfaction. If I wasn't happy, then the construction service department wasn't happy. The service department for the equipment is also very good. We had an issue with one of the pool lights, Claffey shared with us that this was an issue with the lights that were installed, the new lights didn't have the same problem, so they replaced all three under warranty. When we were dealing with Claffey on the panel they installed and why we didn't have the eight port version instead of the four port version, they got the vendor on the line and had them perform an update to the eight port version. I found this team to be professional and knowledge on the equipment. Nothing is ever perfect however. One area where I think Claffey can improve is on the initial startup. I wasn't informed that I needed to check the chemicals every day. A few days after startup I checked the chemicals and found them to be badly out of wack. I immediately brought the chemicals back into balance. Would have been nice to know that I needed to start this day one. I also found that the sprinkler company they use is unfriendly and not interested in coming back out to make things right without having to get Claffey involved. If I was doing everything over again, I would choose a different irrigation company from the one they provided. Building a pool is always stressful, but I can't say enough good things about our pool supervisor. He was fantastic. I would definitely use Claffey again if building another pool. Last word of advice, read up on the different options that are available with your pool and don't rely on any sales person for complete answers. troublefreepools.com is one of the best sites on the internet to learn and ask questions. If you have concerns about product selection or you aren't sure about something the pool builder proposes, ask the question there. They helped me to quickly identify that construction issue that we had so I was able to explain to Claffey what I was seeing. read more

Claffey will do a great job making your pool look beautiful and it will be very expensive. But when issues like drainage and grading a yard properly causes pool flooding issues or deck drains not built to take away water fast enough when it rains happen they just say sorry bud!! Brian Claffey was a complete jerk to my wife during the construction process. The pool was way behind schedule because of the poor design that specified opting that did not exist. The amount of rework was so bad the stone mason almost walked off the job. Service has been horrible to zero existence from the beginning. NOT SORRY, Claffey. Untrue response. I never changed the material selections. The truth is the sales girl pushed back the dates again & again. Every appt we had, we were told a new date. The sales girl (Erin) was cold from the get go. The owner (Brian) was a jerk as well when we voiced our unhappiness. They could have returned part of the deposit as a goodwill gesture for the issues THEY were having but that was not offered. I was put on a waiting list, waited two months paid $150 for a consultation and was supposed to receive a pool design and estimate, this was last year September! Wow, customer delight is no where to be found here. We bought a pool 9 years ago from Claffey. Great design and loved how it transformed the back yard. This came at a healthy cost, which we paid on time. Fast forward 9 years, the pool masonary need to be ripped out and redone. Since Claffey did a good job on the pool in the past, we decided them to fix the out pool that they have built. Keep in mind, I've been a dedicated customer using services from them for over 9 years. The repair is going to to take 2-3 months before they can even lift a finger. To boot, they are demanding 60% of the cost upfront. Yes, 60% upfront for no work being done. Totally ridiculous. Where has customer service gone? Where has loyal gone? It's not at Claffey pools anymore. Obviously , I am frustrated and disappointed. We gave Claffey a tremendous amount of money for our pool (as I'm sure everyone does), rock work, landscaping, the works. While working on our things, service was exceptional. Once the work was finished, they have been rude on the phone, not helpful in any way, not even giving us suggestions for help when their company could do nothing for us. Claffey pools was great when we first built our pool. I am not sure what has happened since. Getting service and support has been horrific. You can not get anyone on the phone and service is scheduled by website request. They are scheduling 3-4 weeks out and want a deposit now. This seem crazy after spending 50k plus on a pool with them. I even called about parts I need and was told to buy online. They sure have no issues selling equipment that they don't seem to support any longer. Claffey built our pool three years ago. The pool shell has cracked twice due to poor structural design. Their leak detection diver has been in our backyard so often, he's now on our Christmas card list. Their mistakes are endless. Example? They connected the pool heater to our propane tank. Every piping joint leaked, draining the tank completely. They left rocks in the bottom drain line and told me "this is your problem, not ours". The decking they installed started to slide down the hill away from the pool. Warranty repairs take 3-4 months (yes, months) to complete leaving the pool empty and out-of-service. And today? The pool still leaks. Shoddy work across the board at premium prices. Use this company at your own risk. read more

I hired Claffey to redo the coping on my existing pool. It is a salt pool and the salt water had degraded the flagstone coping. Claffey recommended replacing it with travertine and they did a great job. The coping still looks new after 3 years read more
