I contacted Petri Pools to obtain a quote to fix the plaster in my pool as I was seeing a lot of black areas that used to be blue. Upon meeting with Justin at Petri Pools, he provided pictures of different looks and then provided several options from cheaper budget friendly fixes to higher yet economical long term fixes. I like honest people that are willing to put everything in writing so from day one I felt good about these guys and all I had to do was select what options I wanted based on my budget and it was that easy. I chose to do a complete renovation that included new equipment, flagstone, coping, tile and opted for a pebbled bottom vs the plaster. Justin took the time to show me the different look and colors one can get with different materials and it was then I knew I wanted a darker lagoon style and Petri was just the company to give it to me. This company is great to work with. Justin visits the job site regularly and ensures everything is top notch and going smoothly. As an example of his dedication to exceptional quality and service, I was out of town when I received a phone call from my house sitter that my pool had been drained. I called Justin and said he was having it redone because he didn't like how the pebble looked and the shells were not scattered to his liking. He just visited the job site didn't like how it looked and had it completely redone. He could have walked away and I would probably never have known it didn't look right but he didn't - he knew it wasn't right and fixed it. Now that is taking pride in your job, your company and taking care of your customers! Another thing I love about this company is that they have different technicians and specialist that handle specific things so you get very experienced individuals for the different aspects of any pool repair or maintenance need. The guy that takes care of water chemistry is not the same guy that installs the equipment nor would you want it to be. Mike was my equipment guy and was always in stealth mode - in and out every morning pulling old equipment and installing new. He is awesome! Not your typical "do what is only on the service ticket" kind of guy but rather that thoughtful future forward thinker. As an example, he installed a gas valve on my existing gas line pipe so I could easily run a line to my grill and convert it to natural gas and not have to use propane tanks anymore. Always cleaned up the area before leaving, hauled off old equipment as well as all the big bulky boxes. Mason was also very maticulous spending several hours chipping away concrete pieces from the backside overhang that no one would have known was even there. Wow! What a truly wonderful experience!! After getting three different quotes for a pool resurface and small remodel, we chose Petri Pool to do the work. I must be honest and say that we originally chose them not because the pricing for all the work was lower (They were all about the same) but because Petri could start the process much faster than the other two. I can honestly say that this time we made the RIGHT decision! When we put the pool in 17 years ago, the process was just a nightmare with delays and other promises not being kept. We knew that we had to properly maintain the pool and start this remodel process, but we were truly dreading it! Justin Petri came out to do the free quote and we never dealt with anyone but him until the project was complete. The work started the very day that he promised. He kept in touch with us through phone calls and texts daily, let me know exactly what time the sub contractors would show up and what they would be doing that day. My husband would have questions when he got home late in the evening and would call or text Justin and he would answer right away! He was ALWAYS available! All the different subs that were sent to my home were professional and cleaned up the best they could after they completed the work. We were very pleased with the work done by Petri Pools. We contacted the owner, Justin, for a quote back in December. He showed up on time and was professional during this initial meeting. He spent considerable time with us and took time to answer all our questions, as well as offer suggestions on ideas to improve our old pool. We specifically were asking for the largest bang for the buck, and he gave us solid suggestions without pressuring us to do unnecessary work. After reviewing four other vendors, we decided to go with Justin. The scope of the work would be a refurbishment of the pool deck, a refinish of the pool, new tiles, new mastic joints, reseated coping stones, installation of a new LED pool light, and installation of a new dedicated pool cleaner line. The experience overall was excellent and we couldn't be happier with the product. We were pleased that Justin sent us a contract prior to beginning the work. This small detail started to give us confidence is his operation. After going over some details, the crew began a renovation that would take a few weeks. This was a tad longer than anticipated due to some bad weather that was outside anyone's control. Throughout the process, Justin did a great job of keeping us informed on progress/delays and communicating any issues as they came up. At no point did we feel pressured to increase the scope of our project. I would definitely recommend Petri Pools for your renovation project. We choose Petri Pools for our pool resurfacing. Our pool was 15 years old and needed new plaster. Petri Pools resurfaced it with a two tone StoneScape, replaced the mastic and did a week of start up for the the new surface. From the initial call, for an estimate, to the final follow up email the professionalism and communication was excellent. After about 5 estimates for the resurfacing, ranging from lower to higher bids and different types of products and some research, we felt good about our choice in Petri. I believe Justin Petri (the owner) was the first to get back to me and came gave the estimate. There are many options for the surface of in ground pools, and many companies wanted to pressure us into what "they" were selling. Justin made recommendations but never pushed us in our choices; and in fact suggested to us to google search the facts on his information. After my wife and I met with him at the Petri office/show room we knew what company we wanted working in our backyard. The time frame for the project was right on schedule besides a one day delay for rain in which Petri sent double crews the second day to have the resurface completed as planned. The crews were efficient and worked like a well oiled machine. Afterward, the next several days the start up teams came in to acid wash the pool and start the chemical balance that takes a few days. All and all the experience with Petri Pools was the best we have had with contractors around our home. There was always quick communication between Justin via email, text and phone. Petri pools just finished a major renovation of my pool in Flower Mound, TX (demo of stone coping, ceramic pool tile, vertical Milsap stone, fittings/drains, certain pool equipment, Aqua-Link control board, heater, etc.) The new installation work included remodel and considerable "re-styling" of a fountain and a separate waterfall, travertine coping, travertine vertical wall cladding, glass pool tile, Pebble-Tek styled pool plaster, a new 400,000 BTU pool heater, new Aqua-Link control board with Jandy actuated valves (for wireless control of spa mode vs. pool mode), plus more. The person I dealt with regarding the proposal, contract, and administration, was Mike Rakes (very professional, very practical (definitely not a pressure salesman - unlike some of his competitors), a man of his word, and a simply a pleasure to work with. The project manager in charge of the day-to-day management of this renovation project was Brennan White. I cannot say enough good things about this man. He went above and beyond (in every way) to ensure that we got the beautiful pool we had envisioned (and he certainly delivered). Brennan was very knowledgeable; an excellent listener; and always available when I had questions or concerns (and was just an overall pleasurable person to interact with). He and his team executed the work without any problems. We are thrilled with the look of our "new" pool, and Brennan has been excellent regarding the few follow-up items that remained! After doing my fair share of research on pool remodel companies, I decided on Petri Pools as a result of great reviews and meeting with Justin on the scope of what my project would take. We are first time homeowners with a 30 year old pool that had given us multiple leak troubles over the first 4-5 months in the house, so while I knew pool work would come in the future, this soon was definitely unexpected. Justin and his crew were the definition of awesome; I couldn't be more happy with their work, professionalism, and focus on customer service. Petri Pools rocked it!! Excellent communication, no surprise overages, his subs are trustworthy & talented - we simply could not be more pleased! We presented Justin (owner) with the challenge of updating the functionality and appearance of our 30 year old pool (we purchased the home in 2015) with the caveat that we keep the original bullnose brick coping. Incorporating old material with new material in a complementary fashion so as not to appear like a half-done project. We had 2 contractors refuse to even submit a bid to keep the bullnose, meaning they wanted their vision, not ours. The remodel entailed replacing all old Arizona flagstone with OK Silvermist (blue/gray) flagstone on the spa and the pool retaining wall, rebuilding/stabilizing the pool retaining wall and upgrading the old white, quartz plaster with Peerless Pebble (color selection EP3). All the white fittings were replaced with gray and the main pool drain was replaced/brought up to code. The old plumbing was a tangled mess of pipes and were re-plumbed to improve efficiency and maintenance of the pumps and filters. Pro Pool Care did our start-up and got our "new-to-us" pool sparkling. Petri Pools was the 1st of 5 estimates we obtained - we had a "feeling" from the get-go that Petri would be our choice. Justin is hands-on and takes pride in his company which is a win-win for all. VERY HAPPY IN FLOWER MOUND!! We are so pleased with the work Justin's team did on our 26-year-old neglected pool and spa. We transferred to Texas at the beginning of this year and bought a major "fixer upper" in a beautiful location. The home and pool had seen a lot of neglect and rental abuse. We knew any "facelift" to the pool and spa would have to be our lowest priority due to finances being needed for other major items in the home. Then we received a copy of the BEST PICK REPORTS 2017 for our local area. We saw Justin's review there and thought we would at least call and get a bid figuring we would probably still have to push this project out another year. Petri did an incredible job! We are in Frisco and recently hired Justin to resurface our pool. He was thorough, honest, proactive and highly communicative the entire time. I work in the construction business for one of the largest developers in the country and I am a stickler when it comes contracts, so I put the 5 contractors we interviewed through a very thorough check. Justin's group stood out - hand's down - above the rest. There was absolutely no comparison. In fact, I would recommend them highly to anyone, even my employers for their own personal use, and that is a tough rec for me to give. I would never tell anyone to only get one quote, but going with the lowest is not always the right thing to do. Make sure you ask contractors LOTS of questions about the contract, including schedule dates, rain delays, etc. and if they don't answer quickly and easily, find someone else. Justin answered all my questions and was even very proactive about things we didn't know to look for. Go with Petri - the peace of mind is worth it - ESPECIALLY with a pool! The other two guys we were considering had large claims about being on state boards and doing lot's of work for big names in higher rent parts of town, but they didn't seem to display the humility and commitment to customer satisfaction that Justin did - they seemed more in it for sell. We read the reviews and shopped around before selecting Petri Pools to remodel our pool. Let me start off by saying I am very particular and couldn't be more pleased with the results of our pool. We went from white plaster to a pebble surface with glass and abalone. I wanted more blue glass on my sun ledge so we added a bag without any issue. We just had to see a completed pool before we could decide on a plaster color. Justin was the only one that was willing to find an address of a pool I could look at in the color we wanted. Another pool builder just said to look at pictures (of another product) on the internet and it would be similar. Justin didn't even build the pool I looked at, but he did go out of his way to find it for me. We never would have picked the color we did without seeing it in person and I know we would not have been as happy going with our other color options. During the construction phase Justin was very easy to get a hold of and politely answered all of my many, many questions. Justin really knows what he is doing. Petri pools has a personal touch that we didn't get when we built our first pool with a much larger company. Petri Pools provides our weekly maintenance service but most recently completed a big project in our backyard. We resurfaced and retiled the pool and it looks great! Justin helped us determine whether we could keep the existing flagstone (which we did). In addition, we wanted to extend and re-surface the decking, which he arranged and supervised. There were weather delays (inevitable in Spring in Texas - it's not a great idea to pour concrete in the rain or on top of mud), so Justin kept us up to date on the status of the project so we knew what to expect and came by when we had questions we couldn't articulate over the phone. His crew worked with our pool fencing company so they were able to re-set the holes for the fencing before the resurfacing was complete. He was also very patient with us as we are still learning about our pool and its inner workings. One of the things I really appreciate about Petri Pools is that they respond promptly and arrive when they say they will. I never get a "I'll be there sometime tomorrow" from Justin - I always know when to expect him and he's never a "no-show". That type of reliability and responsiveness is difficult to find. Our 16 year old pool had tile falling off and chipping. We found Petri Pools (Justin) while surfing the internet. He was one of 3 quotes we received to have our tiles replaced. His quote was not the cheapest nor the most expensive. However, there were several things which Justin did which made us decide to go with him. First was his prompt response back to us (within less than 24 hours he called and emailed us). When he came to our home he was prompt (5 minutes early) , professional and personable at the same time. Justin listened to our ideas and made recommendations for us to consider. The entire process took 2 1/2 days to complete (draining pool, removing old tiles, tile replacement, acid wash and refill of the pool). The day the renovation started Justin called to let us know what time to expect them. His crew did a great job including clean up at the end. We received several bids to resurface our pool and still weren't quite sure who to go with. Still unsure we asked for an estimate from Petri Pools. Justin came over within a couple days, looked at our pool and scope of work and had us an estimate back just a few hours after he looked at it. He also answered our follow up questions about resurfacing options and offered to meet us at his business on Sunday morning so we could look at different finishes. His price matched up with our expectations and his interaction with us exceeded it. We penciled in a date that Sunday, firmed options up over the next week as we thought about it and looked forward to our rejuvenated pool. He was very knowledgable about the different pool products available out there in the market. It was great that we could walk into his showroom and see the different colors and choices available in tile and pool surfaces. Justin came out the day after we contacted his company and gave us a quote for new plaster, tile and coping. His quote was very reasonable so we hired him to do the work. We received a start date of the following week and I must say I was skeptical. I've worked with many contractors over the years only to be disappointed by their ambitious time lines of beginning and completing the work they quote. Again, I was not disappointed! The crews that came to do the work - demo, tile work, coping, plaster, plumbing, electrical, etc. - were wonderful! They were nice, respectful, hard working and clean. Not once was there any evidence, other than the transformation of the pool, that anybody had been there working. They cleaned up all debris and left the area very clean at the end of each day. The end result was a beautiful transformation of our pool and another VERY satisfied customer. We hired Justin/ Petri Pools to remodel our 34 year old pool after a friend referred us. She is a long time customer of Petri Pools and they came highly recommended after she also went through a pool remodel. After obtaining 4 estimates, Petri Pools was the one we chose to go with. Justin came out timely to look at our pool, take measurements and discuss our wants with my husband. We had our estimate very soon after. Justin was very responsive during the process. We had one small delay that was out of anyone's control. After our old fibertech coating was removed we discovered several cracks underneath. We found Petri pools on Yelp. It was the only pool company with a 5 star rating. Justin came out the next day. We told him we didn't want to spend a lot of money. He gave us options with detailed pricing so we could pick what we wanted to upgrade. We wanted to see actual pools before we picked a plaster color. Justin had 2 customers who let us see their pools. This made a huge difference. The color we thought we wanted didn't look the way we expected. When we talked to Justin he figured out what we really wanted and had a pool we could look at. It was perfect. We made lots of changes during the process and Justin was very flexible. Nothing was ever a problem. Our pool is 25 years old, so some things were discovered as the work progressed, such as a leaking pipe and cracked gunite. Justin knew how to handle everything that came up. He is so easy to work with and so honest. He always was responsive even answering texts at night and weekends. He truly does put the customer first.
