GP&A Pool Services - Our Business Card

GP&A Pool Services

We hired GP&A after speaking with several pool companies and chose them specifically based on their…read morereviews praising quick response times and communication. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We did the "Green-to-Clean ($800)". It took SIX weeks. We had to repeatedly follow up because they would go ~2 weeks without showing up or communicating. When we asked, we were told there was an emergency situation, we tried to be understanding, but there was no proactive communication on their end. We decided weekly service ($250/month). After the initial clean, we signed up for weekly maintenance. Within 24-48 hours of each visit, chlorine levels would drop back to 0 ppm. GP&A's explanation was that our pool system was outdated and needed to be replaced. However, we had two separate pool inspections done when we purchased the home, plus 3-4 other pool companies assess the equipment, none of them flagged the system (installed in 2017) as a problem requiring replacement. Upsell attempts: GP&A quoted us a full system replacement (under $6,000) and then a filter replacement (~$2,200) before they said they could continue service. We decided to move on to another provider. End of service: We asked if they could continue maintaining the pool through the end of the month. Their last visit was six days before the final day of the month (image attached). The pool was visibly green and in poor condition by end of month (again they serviced it 6 days ago and it is this green; not adding enough chlorine). When we brought this up, they responded that the condition was "consistent with the unresolved filtration issue for which repairs were recommended", essentially placing responsibility on us for not purchasing their repair package. We were looking for a long-term, trustworthy pool service company. What we experienced was poor communication, inconsistent results, and recommendations that no other company has supported. I cannot recommend GP&A based on our experience.

He is responsive and even answers all of my dumb questions (I am a first-time pool owner). Prices are in line with the industry average, but he truly cares about the pool and does a good job every week! The proof is the report that he sends with each service with pics!

I only…read moreneeded to purchase an o-ring for a Hayward filter, and had not been successful in locating a retail dealer. I spoke with Mark in the construction department, and explained my delima. Mark asked me to forward an email with some info and a few pictures to ensure he was clear on what I needed. Upon doing so, Mark called me back within the hour, and had already performed an online search in my behalf, along with supplying me with the part numbers to consider. Mark went out of his way to be gracious and helpful, even though there was clearly no imminent business opportunity. Mark is a fine representative of their firm, and I hope they recognize what an asset and goodwill ambassador they have working for them.

I can't say enough about Blue Haven Pools. If I could give 10 stars, I would! Our designer, James…read morewas AMAZING!!! We met with multiple pool companies, and they all offered basically the same generic design. James, unlike the others offered something we never would have thought of. We had some pretty tough "needs", and James somehow managed to fit them all in in such a unique way. Also his communication couldn't have been better throughout the entire process. Now onto our project manager, Zack. Again, can't say enough about his communication and attention to detail. We literally received an email every day informing us of the next step. Our project was done in 7 weeks and we had zero delays thanks to Zack's scheduling. Overall, great experience, and I can't recommend them enough!

Petri Pools - Silver travertine

I collected pool update bids from several companies and chose Petri based on their customer…read moreratings, competitive pricing, ability to start the project fairly quickly and the professionalism of Mike Rakes who did the estimate. Before Petri started the project Brennan, assigned as my project manager, stopped by to meet me and check out the pool. Like Mike, a professional guy with solid, knowledgeable answers to my questions. Project-wise we missed a few days due to rain/thunderstorms but things generally ran to plan and Brennan routinely kept me informed of progress, next steps, timing, issues, etc. A really professional guy and an outstanding service provider/project manager. The one "surprise" was a leak caused by a repair company's attempt at a fix ten years prior. It didn't show up on a pressure test and as it turned out I couldn't have reasonably expected Petri's plumbers to detect it. Long story short the prior company had clearly done a shoddy repair job which led to a faulty pressure test reading. The resulting leak became obvious after I'd paid Petri's second invoice and all concerned were confident all leaks had been detected, fixed, and paid for. Imo it's now obvious that the old botched repair job caused most of my pool issues since 2012. Brennan ensured the leak was repaired quickly and, given the circumstances, at a fair, reasonable price. Imo Petri, while not at fault, proactively and professionally managed this issue to quick resolution. The project wrapped up today and our pool looks great, we're very happy with the project and would gladly recommend Petri to anyone in the market for a pool update. These guys are professionals. Ray

Looks like the bond was either not applied correctly, didn't get time to dry before the next layer was added or just poorly applied. I am not a pool professional, but I can now see the layers on the chunks of plaster off the bottom of my pool. I was unimpressed after about 6 months after the work was first completed. Trying to get a response after money was paid was impossible. May be good for pool cleaning, but I would NEVER invest in having them do another major pool job.

He lifted it…read moreand fixed one leak really well but there were two leaks so he put a leak repair chemical in for the other leak and it slowed the leak way down. I paid $1500+ and when they sat it back down the second leak started back fairly heavy so he came back and poured more stop leak chemical in it but it didn't work well so he came back a few more times and put more leak stop chemical in it. I'd send him pictures showing it leaking and how much it had leaked in a week and he'd come over to see it for himself. He had to come back one time because they failed to reconnect the heater. The last time he was going to come do it again I told him that there was so much gunk in the water that we haven't even been able to use the spa. I was not here so they proceeded to clean my spa and then charged $100 for the leak stop chemical and $350 for the cleaning. I argued the point that the chemical is what caused the gunk to be in the spa and that's the only reason it needed cleaning but he insisted that I pay so I did. He then came back later and lifted the spa again and said they can't fix it. He did try but it didn't work. I sure wish he'd told me that and just charged me $1,000 to lift it up and look. The bottom line is that I'm out almost $2,000 and my spa is no better than it was to begin with. He just texted me that he saw the google review (same as above) and said he offered me my money back LOL! I told him that you must have me confused with someone else. He may even have a memory issue since he thinks he offered me my money back. I had even proposed to him what my lawyer recommended, before he came back the last time to lift it up, that we split it 50-50 and both lose. His answer was texted back to me in all caps NO! I have all his texts back and forth.
