    Happy Hour 3-6 pm daily

Fun bar; friendly bartenders; good music; fun vibe. Had to try my first Rocket Fuel at CJ's -Home of the Rocket Fuel! It put me on top of the world - a 151 Pina Colada w/ amaretto float - so tasty, and surprisingly, not too sweet; just creamy and delicious. This won't be my last! They have happy hour daily, 3-6!pm- $6 beer; $7 wine and well. My husband enjoyed his sauv Blanc.

While enjoying Ocean Beach today stopped in to try their famous Rocket Fuel drink ! Every single customer was indulging in this specialty drink made famous by the original owner .The drink has been around for quite a long time but this was my first experience having it . I'm not big on Pina Coladas and thought it would taste like that but with the Amaretto liqueur it was a whole different tasting drink , a delicious ,sweet frozen treat ! Totally loved it !

This place is a small little bar restaurant that's just around the corner as soon as you get off the ferry. And today it was the only place open for eating and drinking because it was early in the season and the other places were just fixing up and prepping up for opening day. When we walked in the place it was a little crowded because it was the only place open and the bartender Rob was also the waiter and the cook but he sure kept the ball all rolling. The only thing I didn't see him do was washing the dishes, lol. He told us it would take some time for us to get our meal because of him doing everything by his self, but he had the meal in front of us within 20 minutes and everything was delicious

    Lobster roll

One of the first restaurants you see once you get off the ferry at Ocean Beach on fire island, which is so convenient and one of the only places that has a warm lobster roll. Seriously, why do restaurants mostly serve cold lobster rolls?? Anyway, we got everything to go... the lobster roll was decent, definitely not the best, but fine for the price and lots of lobster meat. My hubby got the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and to say it was salty is an extreme understatement. We often share food because I love to try a variety of stuff and I took one bite of his sandwich and was done. Not even a bit enjoyable. I gave a 3 star rating because of the lobster roll, but that was generous based upon the whole meal. The fries were cold and seemed old...and the whole meal just didn't meet my expectations. Maybe next time...

Out of the many expensive restaurants in ocean beach this has to be one of the best ones I have visited so far. The French fries were very good and there honey mustard sauce definitely made the fries even more enjoyable. I ordered buffalo wings which I normally don't do often but I'm happy I did and enjoyed them a lot ! Was only my first time going so will be back to give a real review

This is a restaurant bar that we also stepped in for a beer while waiting for the Ferry. CJ's Restaurant & Bar serves food and has a full bar. But we were not there for any food. We did not stay long since they had Flat Screen TV's that were pleasing the customers with general TV shows instead of the Yankee game. So one drink and off we went to the next bar. However the bartender was friendly and very accommodating. We will be back for food eventually

Pricey, like everything else on fire Island but, good service and food to pick at. I'm sure the reason why people don't like it at C J's is because of the price, or the fact that it's not a club bar playing loud music, as half of the people over at fire Island think they're at the Jersey shore.

This isn't the most lively bar in ocean beach, but it's great if you're looking for an inside spot that's never too crowded, has good seating and great bartenders. Their rocket fuels & zippys are great. And, the bar staff is always really nice. Rob made this ridiculously good mudslide. Highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a refreshing, chocolate-y drink. :)

$15 Coney Island Burger (burger on pretzel bun with hot dogs & nacho sauce + side of fries)
    Olivia K.

I didn't expect much coming into this place. Of course, it is pricey like most places by any beach area. This is a typical American restaurant with burgers, seafood/lobster options, etc. I specifically had the Coney Island burger. It wasn't too bad. The buns were like NYC pretzels from the stands except smaller. The burger had the meat and hot dog inside with nacho cheese. Overall, nice combo! It is served with fries. So as you can imagine, my friends and I were very full (some even bloated). I guess you get as full as you paid for... Decent place!

Very patient staff when placing orders and great service. Would def recommend if staying at the Palm hotel as breakfast is complimentary.

Great place for a drink and a bite to eat. Order a Rocket Fuel to try a local classic. The calamari was perfectly cooked.

The place was freezing with the AC on full blast and right above us, another table that sat a few tables away was also complaining about how cold it was. We ordered the kids Mac and cheese and chicken fingers with fries. Unfortunately they brought out a burger instead of my daughter's chicken fingers along with my other child's Mac and cheese and we told them it was wrong. My poor child was starving while everyone else's food came out already and she had to wait for hers but luckily we had some fries for her from our dish to share. I got a French onion soup and you can see it was a bit burnt on top. The soup was too salty and I couldn't take more than 3 sips. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich and I liked my cobb salad. My youngest enjoyed her Mac and cheese.

We came in for brunch but had missed the cutoff time. That wasn't a problem for them at all. They took the lunch menus back, handed us the brunch menus, and said, "Please order. We'll take care of you." Even something as simple as the breakfast potatoes stands out. They make them several different ways, and you can clearly taste the freshness of hand-cut potatoes compared with the processed ones that simply come out of a bag. There are a lot of choices out there, but we have found that at many places, the food can taste processed and not particularly fresh. Zest was a refreshing change. Give Zestlongisland a shot! Our server appeared to be new, but she was incredibly patient, friendly, and genuinely trying her best. She handled every question with kindness, and I truly appreciated her attitude throughout the meal. The manager also made a great first impression by greeting us shortly after we were seated and even taking our drink order himself. At that point, I honestly thought we were in for a great experience. Unfortunately, things slowly began to unravel. A few items I ordered to accompany one of our pizzas didn't come out with the pizza itself, so by the time everything finally arrived, the pizza had gone cold. While frustrating, mistakes happen, and I didn't make an issue out of it. The bigger misunderstanding involved another pizza I ordered. I was trying to order a white Grandma pie after seeing a calzone listed with the option to make it on a Grandma crust. When it arrived, it had red sauce. The manager explained that the menu description included "Grandma sauce," which referred to red sauce. I hadn't realized that, and once he explained it, I understood where the misunderstanding came from. To his credit, he immediately offered to remake the pizza, which I appreciated. At that point, I considered the issue resolved. Unfortunately, the conversation didn't end there. While discussing the original pizza, the manager explained that it had ricotta cheese on it. My initial reaction was that I hadn't noticed any ricotta, but after he explained it, I acknowledged that perhaps I had simply missed it. From my perspective, the misunderstanding had been cleared up and the conversation was over. Instead, he looked at me and said: "Maybe you don't know the difference between mozzarella and ricotta cheese." That comment completely changed the experience. There is a big difference between explaining a menu item and making a personal remark toward a customer. By that point, I wasn't arguing. I wasn't asking for anything additional. I had already accepted the explanation and acknowledged that perhaps I had simply missed the ricotta. Rather than leaving it there, the conversation became increasingly confrontational. When I explained that I found the comment disrespectful, instead of trying to de-escalate the situation, the manager continued defending it by insisting that I had argued earlier. At that point, the discussion was no longer about the pizza... it had become an unnecessary debate with a customer who had already accepted the explanation. That was the moment we decided to leave. Mistakes happen. Orders get mixed up. Menu descriptions can create misunderstandings. None of those things determine whether I return to a restaurant. What determines that is how those situations are handled. A manager sets the tone for the entire restaurant. Their responsibility isn't just to resolve problems... it's to make guests feel heard, respected, and welcome, even when there's a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, that's where this experience fell apart. The food has always been good, which is why I've returned in the past. What I'll remember from this visit isn't the pizza or the misunderstanding over the menu. It's being spoken to in a way that felt dismissive and belittling after I had already accepted the explanation. Hospitality isn't measured by how a restaurant performs when everything goes perfectly. It's measured by how it treats people when something doesn't. Unfortunately, that's the lasting impression this visit left with me.
