Perfect little breakfast joint in the desert area. Great menu, fresh food, fresh OJ, and really good service. Love coming here to get my fix

Stopped in for breakfast last week. The place is in an industrial area which was a little unusual, but not a big deal. The restaurant inside is very dated, like it has remained untouched since the early 80's, again, not a big deal. Ours server (I wish I could remember her name), was friendly and did a very nice job. I ordered a pretty simple breakfast...scrambled eggs, 2 sausage patties and a waffle. Service was very fast - our food was out in about 3 minutes. Since it was a pretty basic order, they really couldn't mess it up. The eggs were a little greasy and the sausage patties were very thin; however, the waffle was very good! Price was reasonable too! Probably wouldn't make it a point to get back here, but okay in a pinch, I guess. read more

My boyfriend and I came here the first day of 2021, the people were soooooo nice and helpful. The food was amazing and I'm so glad we picked this place to start the new year. We'll definitely be back especially for the hazelnut latte!!! Beats Starbucks and every other coffee spot I've tried !! read more

Found this diner while on vacation at the Marriott Desert Villas. Food was good, service was nice, but could have been a bit more attentive. But they were friendly. Kids shared a 2-2-2 plate Husband had the chicken fried steak and I enjoyed the veggie omelet. Kids said they were the best pancakes. We'll definitely come back next time! read more

it's hidden and you have to work a little to find it but you'll be happy you did. Their breakfast is awesome!

I have been going here for breakfast when I'm on vacation in Palm Desert. It is just about 2 blocks from the Marriott timeshare resorts, Desert Springs I & II, and JW Marriott Hotel. Parking is easy. Good food, we have always been able to get a table. Only improvement I would make is to get some good, stronger coffee. Like most restaurants, the coffee is not great. I love their food, and can't wait to go back again. I last visited in October 2017 with my daughter on our way to Phoenix. Highly recommended, give it a try. I have only had breakfast so I can't comment on lunch. Update Feb. 14, I look forward to trying the Espresso next visit. :-) read more

Nice surprise!! Very tasty Monte Cristo... precut into four smaller squares and deep fried , Great to share or small eater to take some home ... very very hot day and misters could have been left on but due to puddles and safety couldnt. Leave on? read more

CJ's Diner - Grave not overwhelming on the biscuits, french toast good along with the crispy bacon and easy eggs. All around hit the spot. - Diners Near Me - Palm Desert, California

The food was average for breakfast. It wasn't terrible but there was also nothing special about it. I gave the place a 2 star rating for their service. We waited nearly an hour for our food which shouldn't of taken that long, especially for your standard eggs and bacon breakfast. The waitress was unresponsive and didn't check on us while we were waiting for our food. After 45 minutes we asked them if we could get some kind of a discount due to the long wait and we could see the waitress in the back roll her eyes. Shortly after we got our food and the waitress didn't even acknowledge or apologize for the long wait, which was very rude. However, 5 STARS goes to Rodolfo the gentleman constantly refilling our drinks. I believe he was a bus boy but by the way he worked you would have thought he was the manager. He performed way beyond his duties! You can see that he works extremely hard and he did his best to accommodate us when the wait staff didn't. He's the backbone of the restaurant and I hope his work is appreciated by CJs Diner. Thank you, Rudolpho! read more

Friends introduced us to this hidden gem in PD. We started with mimosas and then we split the delicious flaky homemade cinnamon roll. All of our dishes were very tasty. The outside patio was very pleasant especially with the humming birds nearby. We will definitely be back next time we're in town. read more

Perfect breakfast / lunch spot in Palm Desert. Great staff, good prices, and really solid food that tastes fresh and clean. Unassuming location but make no mistake this is an amazing little spot for desert dining. Came in on an extremely hot day and restaurant was comfortable cool, mellow vibes and the food came out hot & quick. Thanks, we'll be returning for sure!! read more

WONDERFUL all around. Food was incredible, service and staff were all Exceptional. We certainly will return.

We chose this place because if was near the VA where I had a medical appointment, what a mistake. Walked in and it was busy, stood there for over 10 minutes while being ignored by the staff, no staff at the front door kiosk. Finally someone told us to choose a table. We did, another long wait, 5 minutes later a man & woman set down in the table next to us. They where handed a menu shortly after they sat down, 10 minutes later we got up and walked out, no service. My husband and I are not used to being discriminated against, maybe if one of us had tits we would have been served. Went to Don & Sweet Sue's in Cathedral City, where greeted at the door and a menu and coffee was poured within 5 minutes of entering. FYI, Don & Sweet Sue's is well known for their good food and awesome staff, CJ's Dinner should take a lesson from them in professionalism & customer care. read more

A great place for some great and filling breakfast. Service is fast and comes with a smile. Even though I only visit there once a year (usually in April), I always feel welcomed. read more

My wife (who is probably going to post her own review just after mine) and I are full-time residents of Palm Desert and came her for the first time today. She's vegetarian and was very excited to see their house-made blackbean burger on the menu and was far from disappointed. I got the bleu cheese burger which also was great. I'm definitely looking forward to trying their other meals here since both of ours were excellent. I saw the photos of their Chicken-Fried Steak after ordering and am positive that will be my next meal here! read more

Found this place by chance on our first visit to Indian Wells and it has been our go to ever since. Good food and portions at a great price without the crazy 30-40 min wait of some of these other spots. Don't get me wrong, it can get crowded, but definetly not like some of the other breakfast spots we have seen. It's kinda secluded which I think helps to keep the crowd to a minimal. My favorite and my go to every time is the Country Benedict, just the comfort food you would want in the morning. read more

Great breakfast, coffee could be better. Neat clean friendly place close to the resort.

very disappointed! not worth a 4.5 rating, the service was mediocre at best. the pancakes I ordered came out hot but had no flavor, the syrup was watered down. my side order of bacon was so thin and small for 2.00 extra. my wife's chicken fried steak came out hot but was bland in flavor. meal was not cheap for what you got... I would not recommend! read more

After a bad experience while waiting for a table at IHOP we decided to leave and come to CJ's Diner. I'm absolutely glad we did. This place is very hidden. I've been around the area numerous times and I've never seen the restaurant until yesterday. I recommend getting the CJ burger. So many burgers in the valley taste the same but this one was different. I enjoyed this burger the way I enjoy fancy meals. 10/10 recommend this diner! read more

CJ's Diner - Yummy chicken fried steak. Comes with eggs, toast, and hash. - Diners Near Me - Palm Desert, California

We almost didn't stop because of some the negative comments. Glad I went with my hungry gut feeling!! I had the banana pecan pancakes which were awesome! My husband had the French toast, also excellent. We come through at least twice a year from Central CA across I-10 to Austin. Our standard stop is Sherman's, but the wait and parking is a hassle. We had a timeshare at the Marriott property across the street from here for several years, but had never heard of cj's. We will return. 4 stars because there is always room for improvement and, like many other reviews, the staff is not attentive. They are very friendly, but never checked on us at any time after our food arrived. We were there around 11:30 and only 5-6 tables were in use. The staff all congregated at the bar area and spoke with the regulars, but there were others in the place that also needed attention. read more

I used to really enjoy coming to C J's for a wonderful breakfast or lunch however this last experience I had is worth writing about to inform ALL CUSTOMERS (NEW AND OLD) of just who CJ is. I recently ordered a 'tuna melt' with french fries as my side dish to share with my wife for a quick lunch. We waited 35 minutes to get a cold grilled tuna melt with french fries THAT HAD A PIECE OF WIRE IN THEM. Yes a piece of twisted wire. When I told the waitress she brought the OWNER OVER. HE LOKED AT THE WIRE, WENT BACK TO THE KITCHEN AND CAME BACK TELLING US IT WAS THE DISTRIBUTORS FAULT. He took our plates away and gave us new fries. The sandwich was ice cold. When i told the waitress the sandwich was cold she apologized, brought us back a hot sandwich and said she wasnt charging us for my drink. They then handed us a CHECK FOR THE SANDWICH.!!!!!! This owner DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS NOR DOES HE DESERVE THE RIGHT TO CALL HIMSELF a restauranteur. This is not how GOOD PEOPLE DO BUSINESS!!! Not once did he apologize or try to make it right. I related this incident to a discussion group we attend and all those familiar with CJ's will not only not go there but they are spreading this story around to their friends as well. If you're a loyal fan I suggest you be careful next time to eat there. read more

Veronica was amazing! Very great service & extremely professional. We felt right at home and the food was great!

So I'm sitting here waiting for someone to take my payment but they're all too busy chatting inanely about absolutely nothing. I've heard the word "like" 8000 times and counting. That being said, the food is good and served promptly. Prices are very reasonable. Good spot for a quick bite. Low noise level makes conversing easy. Just don't sit near the counter, your sanity will be tested. read more

I wanted so badly to love this place .. seated quickly but not served quickly. 15 min to get asked for just a coffee.. ordered a Latte an it was luke warm an tasted like only milk.. about an hour later they brought us our food which I don't have any complaints about it was pretty good.. I did observe lots of regulars that seem to get served seated and helped very quickly. So there was lots of happy customers.. read more
