The food here is fine -- maybe a 7.5/10 at best. Decent, but nothing you can't get elsewhere for half the price. The real issue? This place is a straight-up money grab. If you dare to order takeout over $100, they automatically tack on a 20% surcharge. For takeout. No service, no table, no cleanup -- just a blatant cash grab that feels like extortion. There's no polite way to put it. When I came with a group of six, they slammed us with a 25% gratuity (already insane), and then had the audacity to add another line asking for more tip on top of that. That's not hospitality, that's predatory billing and taking advantage of customers. Restaurants are supposed to earn loyalty with great food and fair treatment. A hidden gem in Georgetown. Their tapas style menu is focused on meats & vegetables cooked perfectly over a charcoal grill. Their flavors are influenced from Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Greece, and the entire Mediterranean region. So in short - mix and match the small plates, meats, and sauces and get immersed in their flavors. We ordered the following items and everything trust me everything was delicious. 1. Appetizers: flatbread and dip(hummus, labneh & baba ghanoush), saffron cauliflower (apricot and date molasses), patatas bravas, grilled kofta (mind blowingly delicious) 2. Entree: Tahini marinated chicken thighs & Shawarma spiced shrimp. Both the chicken and shrimp were beyond amazing and so flavorful and perfectly cooked. 3. Dessert: Labneh Panna Cotta (this was my least favorite dish of the night but still good) & Flourless Chocolate Cake (they do their flourless cakes right) 4. Drinks: Their drinks menu is innovative with beets, carrots and burnt honey. We tried Roasted beet margarita, Hey rhu-barbie!, Spiced apple sangria, Oh bee-have It is a nice quaint casual spot. We stopped into this place after flying into Seattle and needing some lunch before drivin up north. What a GEM!!! It's the kind of restaurant that the locals will want to keep a secret for fear they won't be able to get a table if word gets out!! I wanted to try everything! The food was really well thought out and blended flavors perfectly! From the humus/babaghanoish/lebnah with flat bread to the fried halume and the grilled steak! Ambiance is super cute, upon arriving, you walk past the grill and through another door to go into the dining area. With a semi open kitchen that you can peak thru, you get to eat under a sun window above your head in a somewhat industrial yet cozy atmosphere. For two of us we ordered 1drink each, 3 small plates and 1 quarter pound of pork jowl. That was simply amazing!!! I strongly recommend the carrots and bravas (thank you to our host for recommending those). The portions are quite generous so we actually couldn't finish everything in one sitting. We went here for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful time. We didn't have a reservation and so we ended up waiting at a bar around the corner for about 45 minutes before being seated. We ordered the following: Beet Margaritas - as a fan of beets and margaritas, this was lovely. Trio of dips - not pictured but this was delicious and possibly my favorite part of the meal. We had gotten hummus, muhumarra and baba ganoush. Baba ganoush was smoky and complex. Comes with 1 pita Patatas - potato pieces not that crunchy and slightly too big. Love! We have been loyal diners for several years. Ciudad is a favorite for special occasions or, really, any day of the week. I give a four star review because the change in the Brussels sprouts is not as good. The whole, fried Brussels sprouts from two years ago were life-changing. The current version is just okay. The baba ganoush and the labneh are my favorite in the city. Amazing! The hummus is a bland. I miss the days with the roasted chick peas on top. Also, we rarely order dessert. It's all about the spreads, the halloumi, the steak, and (usually) the Brussels sprouts. And, I wish they would bring back the pink guava margarita. So delicious!! read more

Ciudad is a beautiful, quirky space. The first thing you experience is seeing the barbecue outside of the restaurant and all of the excellent looking meats marinating and ready to cook. We were welcomed in with a big smile and given the option to wait about 5 minutes for a table to open up, or we could go right to the bar. We opted to wait, and were glad for the extra space once the food started to arrive. The waiters seemed BUSY, like they were fully responsible for mixing cocktails in addition to what they normally do, and the place was hopping. Visited Seattle and surrounding cities and our local family told us about this place. We went on a Saturday night around 8pm and there was a 40min wait so we opted to come by on Sunday. We came back on Sunday at 8am and there was no wait and plenty of tables available. I was told that this place is usually not so busy on Sunday nights so noted for next time. We ordered family style and shared all the sides and proteins. The proteins were priced by the lb so we grab 1/4-1/2 lb of each time we wanted to try. We also grabbed a couple of cocktails. The food came fairly quick and the server was attentive and friendly. Overall the food was delicious, what stood out the most to me was the baba ghanoush , carrots, chorizo and my cocktail. Made a reservation for a birthday dinner by emailing the general manager account listed on the . When we got there, we were seated promptly. We ordered pretty much all the cocktails, all the appetizers, and enough of the meats to guarantee that all the food was delicious! I would recommend the pork collar, the roasted cauliflower, beet salad, and the carrots as my favorites. Our service was nice, but we realized after leaving that the bill was totally incorrect, with items we didn't order and things missing that we did order. Fortunately, things evened out close enough that we weren't overcharged enough to bother calling to fix it. Probably too much food but honestly, yolo. The flatbread and dips were surprisingly super good, I wasn't expecting much but loved the yogurt and olive dip, could have foregone the hummus. The patatas were super crunchy and still pillowy soft inside but I think I would omit next time. The meats were all different, moist and tasty in their own way. Can't Two of us stopped by for a late lunch on Friday on a beautiful sunny day. We chose to sit outside in the front, which was pleasant with the shade provided by the umbrella, but can get very hot when the umbrella doesn't cover the table. I love being close enough to see some actions on the grill. Service was good. We asked to switch to a different table, and was accommodated with a little resistance (kitchen gets confused after food order is in apparently). Food was so good: Appetizers: +seared Haloumi - so good. The saltiness and spongy texture of the cheese complements the smoked yogurt and charred corn. With a splash of lime, every bite was different and interesting. -baba ganoush - not my favorite. It was too tingy and didn't taste smokey. The pomegranate seeds were a good touch that gives some bites a burst of juicy sweetness. From the Grill: +pork collar - amazing. So fatty and flavorful. I went to Ciudad with a girlfriend and we were able to walk right in on a Sunday evening. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we sat outside, although there was room inside as well. We ordered family style (which is how their dishes come) and grabbed the saffron cauliflower, haloumi with watermelon, and the patatas, along with a quarter pound of both shrimp and chicken. We also got three sauces: chimichurri, smoked yogurt, and the black garlic aioli. Overwhelmingly, my favorite was the haloumi, chicken, and yogurt sauce, although everything was delicious! My girlfriend and I also got drinks, me a beet margarita and her a mezcal-forward drink I can't remember what it was. These were delicious too! Overall I liked this restaurant, although I'll caveat that because we were outside, there was a lot of plane noise overhead constantly due to the distance to Boeing Field. This was easy to ignore after we got used to it, but just FYI for those debating inside vs outside seating. read more

Ciudad is one of several gems in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood. I had the opportunity to visit solo for happy hour back in 4/2/19 and revisited it for lunch with a college friend on 2/25/23. Definite pro tip: show up as close to their 1130 opening time. Easier to snag street parking and a table. Visit #1, I sat at the far right of the bar counter. Loved my selections back then and well was taken care of the bartender. Clearly I forgot to post from that visit nearly four years ago. Visit #2 was part two of a belated Christmas lunch meetup with a college friend. I was happy to revisit Ciudad. We had a brief wait in the grilling area prior to being seated at a corner two top. Pleasant wait person who provided amazing service for the entire dining room. Loved the interior vibrant pops of color and healthy foliage. For this visit we stuck with water - it was nicely chilled and not tepid. What we ordered: *Saffron Cauliflower: loved the presentation and flavors from the shallots, apricots, hazelnuts and date molasses ($15). I'm more of a broccoli gal, but trying some was truly a palate pleaser. *Lamb Riblets with harissa BBQ sauce, labneh, house pickles, and fresh herbs ($16). I ate one third, the other two thirds the next day. Meat literally falls off the bones. Loved the labneh & harissa combo! *Grilled Tahini Chicken Thighs (1/2 pound, $22) - so flavorful and tender! *Grilled Shawarma Spiced Prawns (1/4 pound, $14) - so plump and sweet! *Grilled Pork Collar with mojo verde & cilantro (1/4 pound, $13) - succulent *Flatbread (2 at $4 each) - mandatory to sop up all the tasty sauces and marinades! Lemon wedge and finishing salt were also provided on our tray of grilled items. This was a truly satisfying, finger licking good meal. On point service, delicious assortment of menu items, no room for dessert though. We had enough time to dine, but felt it was best to have coffee and more convo elsewhere. There were folks that were waiting patiently for tables. I definitely thanked the adorable, personable grillmaster as we were leaving. I really enjoy coming here for grilled meat. We have eaten here multiple times and the quality is good, the flavors from the grill remind me of eating at a bbq and nothing has been overcooked. The place is quite busy and even more busy when the weather is good. They have inside and outside seating but both areas are quite small so I would expect a wait during peak meal times. I have never experienced an extremely long wait either. The menu is a decent size, not extremely large or complicated but has options. Not only are the entrees good but the other bites are delicious as well. Everything just seems so fresh no matter what you order. My very first time visiting this restaurant in the Georgetown neighborhood. My friend had invited me to the Kyoto Art warehouse sale. We decided to grab lunch after we walked around the sale and decided to give Ciudad a try. When you first arrive, you walk into the "grill area" with a skinny table on the left that lines the wall with bar stools. Then you see a massive steel door that looks like you are walking into a meat locker. But once you heave the door open, you are immediately transported into this airy, open modern restaurant. The wait was quoted at 45 minutes for a table of 5. It was raining today so no outdoor seating and very limited seating inside. But we decided we had come this far so we waited at the coffee shop around the corner. We ordered the 3 dips (Labneh, baba ghanoush and hummus) with flatbread; cauliflower; fried asparagus; roasted potatoes; hanger steak; pork collar; and a grilled chicken sandwich and we all agreed that the 45 minute wait was worth it. Of the 3 dips, the labneh was tangy and my favorite. The hummus and baba were good and flavorful enough but I've had better. The fried cauliflower was the table's favorite dish. It had a date molasses syrup glaze with hazelnuts and dried apricots. All of us agreed that we could've ordered one dish for the each of us to eat ALONE and without sharing. The asparagus had quite a bit of breading. I would not order that again. It was just a deep fried vegetable though the sauce was tasty. The roasted potatoes were crunchy and everyone liked the crunchy bits. Not a whole amount of flavor but the texture was very satisfying. The pork collar was topped with a generous amount of mojo verde and cilantro sauce. It was grilled to perfection and an absolute flavor explosion. I'm a sucker for a chimichurri sauce that has the right amount of tang that makes your mouth water. I also noticed and loved the small mound of salt in the corner of the plate. The steak was tender also delicious but the star meat of the meal was the pork collar. The restaurant was light and bright even though it was raining non-stop with a fabulous skylight, bright colorful murals on the white bricked walls and white washed wood boards on the ceiling. We had to wait a bit to order but once we did, the timing of the cadence that the dishes came out was perfect. Just when we had finished a dish, the next one came out. I felt I was able to take the time to savor each dish. It's difficult to do that when you have 5 dishes staring at you all at once. I'm sorry I didn't discover you sooner but now that I have, I am looking forward to visiting again with more friends and family. Well done and bravo Ciudad! read more

It was a bit off the beaten path for this out of towner (in the Georgetown area) but definitely worth the trek! We got here at 6pm on a Wednesday so there was no problem with seating, which was good because there isn't a ton of seating here. It's got an informal, hipster feel to it with some interesting wall murals. Seeing that it's tapas (shared plate) style, we got the lamb riblets, patatas bravas, flatbread, and a 1/2 pound each of the hangar steak, pork collar, and prawns. We really enjoyed our meal and everything was tasty (steak and pork collar really stood out for me) and we actually had a lot of leftovers- we could have gotten away with one less side and 1/2lb less of meat between the three of us- but it was great to try so many great things! read more

There was a deli counter only and a few metal tables I felt so dumb I asked them about a pickup order and they pointed me to this solid grey door and they told me to go right in . I opened this heavy door and was TRANSPORTED to a different spot ! It was trendy , cute, intimate, fun and lively ! Ciudad is one of our favorite date spots in South Seattle. We've been here a number of times for a date, with friends and large groups and have always enjoyed ourselves. The menu features a number of good, tapas/shareable plates (family style) that are great for individuals and groups alike. During our most recent visit we tried the Uli's Merguez (Lamb/Beef Sausage + Pork Collar w/ a Green Salad & Patatas Bravas. The Green Salad was a straight-forward salad. Good, but nothing special. The Patatas Bravas was very good. It had a nice mixture of crisp & starch (Think crispy French fry meets baked potato) and the Mojo Rojo had a really good smoke to it. The Merguez was good. I don't think it was particularly stellar, but I didn't mind getting it. Paired with the sauces (Mojo Rojo, Chimichuri, and Burnt Honey) it was really good. The Pork Collar (and Patatas) were my favorites of what we ordered. I really like their Mojo Verde sauce - I first tried it on a Potato dish (here) some time ago and have been hooked sense. Tender, flavorful - would recommend. Keep in mind the menu does change from time to time, so things so come and go from the menu. It has been a bit since my last review. Ciudad is as wonderful as ever. A gem in Georgetown. Clean, casual, fun, but also with class. The service is consistently great. We always feel well cared for and appreciate how they all work together to coordinate timing from the kitchen and grill. It's always a challenge to decide what we want because there are so many delicious small dishes to choose from in addition to grilled options. Carrots versus cauliflower? Can't go wrong either way. Save room for dessert! I miss the coffee flan, but did enjoy the panna cotta with toppings that felt perfect for evoking warm holiday feelings.
