I have driven passed this wine room for a few years now and have always wanted to stop in. Well today was my lucky day! Our original place to hold our monthly book club meeting was closed, so we picked this one due to its close proximity to us. The tasting room is of average size and very quaint. Tables with chairs, wine barrel tables with bar stools, a lounging area that includes comfy chairs and a coffee table, and sit up bar with bar stools offer a variety of seating options. Staff is really friendly and immediately welcomed us and told us to sit wherever we felt comfortable. After looking at the menu, Chris came over and explained the tasting menu and the history of the winery. If you want to know that, get in there! So worth it! We opted for the wine tasting flight and tasted some delicious French wines, all the while discussing our book. Overall a fun tasting experience, with some awesome wine! I didn't know exactly which part of the business P&B occupied until we got in. Thankfully, our server explained it briefly. They are: An importer A wine bar A bottle shop Occasional commissioner of private-labeled bottles. So you *can* actually get P&B wines, but they're much more like a store/bar. A goal here is to turn everybody on to wineries from Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France. That's just north of the Spanish border along the Mediterranean coast. They have an enormous map on the wall, and a smaller one they bring to your table so they can point to where the wineries are. The pride of place is strong here. The American owners moved there full-time but still run the Seattle shop remotely. We sat for a flight, which is very fairly priced, and turns to free if you buy bottles or join the wine club. 2 whites, a pink, and 2 reds. The whites and the pink stood out massively--lots of crisp flavor and character, very thoughtfully made. We added a white and pink sparkling wine as additional tastes--both were excellent. Prices here are very reasonable, and the inventory is deep enough to have a few fancier (i.e., also more-expensive) bottles on the shelves. They focus on organic and biodynamic wines, lots of very natural choices. Everything tends to be a bit less sweet and sticky than American wines, and the wineries they import tend to be the smaller ones, which just seems to put you even more firmly into Old-World territory that way. Languedoc-Roussillon evidently got a rep a couple generations ago for just cranking out tons of jug wine. I have a feeling that you could work through a lot of bottles from P&B and never run into much of anything like that. In fact, we joined the wine club and will confirm that in future visits. Wow! I am seriously so impressed with the variety of great rosè from this winery. We taste tested 12 of their roses and they were all good! Not too sweet and very, very easy to drink. The staff were all so knowledgeable about where each wine came from, the winemakers and the area in France and can show you on their cute maps they provide. We went to an event here a few weeks ago and were absolutely floored at what a great gem this place is hidden in the unexpected industrial part of Seattle. The tasting room is beautifully decorated with subtle pastels, romantic lighting, and surprising hints of fresh florals tucked here and there. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a great selection of wines to choose from. We had the opportunity to meet the owners Carol (The Princess) and Steve (The Bear) and hear their amazing story. This power couple attorney and surgeon gave up their big city life to explore their dream in southern France. While living there they fell in love with small local wineries. Due to their size, these family owned businesses would have no other way to internationally distribute if it wasn't for the insight of Carol and Steve. They taste while living in France and ship back their favorites for us all to enjoy! Our tasting included a great variety of white, rose, and red wines making sure to please any palate. My favorite was the Trintes and I brought a bottle home with me just so I could enjoy the experience again! It was not difficult to convince both my friend and I to leave with a couple bottles of wine as most of their bottles are under 30 bucks making it pretty much impossible to convince your rational self you don't need another bottle of wine..cause you really do..really. I'm so excited to have found this place and look forward to visiting again soon and enjoying their delicious wine selection and benefiting from their knowledgeable team who educates you on the vino while pouring you a delightful glassful. read more

Great place with great owners. Got to meet the Princess and her Bear hubby at a Yelp Elite wine tasting event. I ended up purchasing a bottle of my favorite tasting of the day, a Domaine de Trinites (2015 LaDeves) for a future dinner pairing. When I tasted it, I knew it was the one for me, full bodied and robust! This place is very chic and right in the middle of the South Park commercial district with a rollup door for outdoor seating as desired. There is a long bar which is great for tastings and several indoor seats including a couch area with low tables for more casual tastings. The owners live in France in a very wine-centric area on the Mediterranean Sea and taste several hundred wines a year and select a few dozen for purchase to bring back to Seattle for this location. They focus on small wineries with great taste and very affordable. All the wines I tasted were under $30 per bottle. They offer 3 different wine clubs ranging between 4 and 12 bottles per shipment. Their hours are Thursday - Sunday from noon to 6pm, so no wine tasting here on Mondays-Wednesdays. The staff was top-notch, being very helpful and knowledgeable. I couldn't believe this place was in south Seattle and right by my old work. I wish I knew of this place when I worked in Georgetown! I worked down there for over 12 years and I didn't know it existed. I would've been a regular. It's the cutest little place to try wine that is outside of the states. All their wines are from Languedoc-Roussillon a region of France and it makes it unique. Wines you can't find anywhere else. It's great and we tasted a few and they were delicious. They had a sparkling wine that I just loved and bought. If you want a great vibe and fun atmosphere go there. The service was exceptional and they were very knowledgeable. I didn't get a chance to meet the owners and to get more information on the finding of their business so I hope the next time I go they will be there. The outskirts of Seattle, and even in the heart of Seattle, are really lacking in wineries and tasting rooms... Princess and Bear Wines is just what South Park needed! It's in an unassuming industrial area, but with that comes lot of parking and a rather quiet setting (if you can ignore the sounds of the freeway nearby). I've had the pleasure of coming in to taste a couple of times and am now also a member of the Amphora Collection. This gets me 4 bottles of wines, 4 times a year, and is described as the "tasting room experience." At only $90 per pickup, it's rather cheap compared to a lot of the memberships you see at other wineries. Adding on to that, they really are true to their word when they say their wines are affordable. Almost every bottle is under $30, and on top of that, they are damn GOOD. What I really love about Princess and Bear Wines is that they showcase small, independent winemakers in the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the South of France. You most likely aren't going to find any of these wines at places like Total Wine, Bevmo, etc. They really are offering the Seattle area something truly unique. But, it gets better. 60% of the winemakers they showcase are women! Beyond that, the owners Steve & Carol are truly here because of passion. They love the wine, they love the relationships they create with the winemakers, and it shows. They love to chat about their wines and their story, so if you're lucky enough to meet them at the tasting room, TALK TO THEM! They are so personable and fun to talk to. All of their wines are delicious. I really love their sparklings but there's not one that I've tried that I didn't like. The owners live in West Seattle part time, and in Europe the other half of the time, and ship their favorite wines back to the states! Because of this, the wine list is always rotating. Which they are able to pull off since they partner directly with winemakers and visit them to establish a relationship. The owners are lovely people and I enjoyed hearing about their story about opening up this winery and why they exclusively get wines from a region in France. The 5 different wines we tried were all delicious and the best part about getting wine from here is most of their wines are under $30! You can't really beat that! They also have different tiers in case you would to join their wine club! (Which I definitely plan on doing). The environment of the winery is really cute and I wouldn't change a thing. Run by a husband and wife, this couple was inspired while on a trip to France to bring back the delicious and affordable wines to Seattle. Not only are the grapes mostly organic, 60% of the winemakers are female! Plus the winery offers varietals not usually found in the US, since they are grown in France. Great little spot. Husband and wife passion project. After they retired I moved to the south of France they keep busy by driving around small towns and finding local vineyards with amazing stories and have begun to import the wine here into the states. The wines are very good, much better than a normal house wine you'd find at a local tasting. They are not sweet at all, with the exception of maybe the bubbly rosé, but all were very good. It was great to meet the husband and wife, as they usually home in France, but overall had a wonderful time. It's a very small location, but very intimate. I had the honor of attending a YELP event and sample wine. Fell in with the sparkling Rose . This Rose has Chardonnay, Chenin a great white dessert wine and Pinor Noir, this would why the sparkling rose tasted so good with my chocolate . A nice affordable alternative for me, replacing champagne, and I mean this in a very good way This is the first rose I have fell in with This cute spot has nice seating outside to meet up with friends and enjoy a bottle of , small private parking lot right off of the 99N south park exit. This is the second time we have visited Princess and Bear wines. We love this place! Gorgeous, comfortable - relaxing ambiance. The wines are absolutely incredible. So unique. Staff is delightful and very knowledgeable about the wines and regions in France. We loved learning so much in addition to tasting these great wines (that I haven't seen or tasted anywhere else).
